[Q] Region Lock Away didn't work? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I am on MK2 and I tried to use Chainfire's region lockaway app but It didnt work when i rebooted with a tmobile sim card the unlock meno came up asking for a code or to dismiss, tried running it 3 times so far it doesnt work, anyway to fix this?

Anyone?

I don't believe it even works on MK2. You are either going to have to get the code from AT&T or buy one online from a site that sells unlock codes. It's easier to just buy the code.

Unlock Question

Dumb question... Does installing HSPL, MAGLDR and Android unlock the HD2 to other carriers? If not, how's that done? Do I just need an unlock code from T-Mobile?
Yep. Believe you need the code.

What do I say exactly? "Hey I bought this phone on ebay and I need to use it for ATT. Sorry T-Mobile sucks (at least where I live)... now can I have the code please?
just call tmo and tell them you need an unlock code and they will give it to you

From what I've read, sounds right.

You are screwed like me. Trust me, TMobile wont give you the code unless your a TMobile customer. I tried calling them 8 times to get a code and they didn't want to give me it. I had to pay $40 for a code. Your best bet it to go on ebay and look for the code.
Good luck.
Yeah well I'm a T-Mobile customer so I'm good.

sometimes they want you to have it for X amount of time...so in that case just say you are going out of the country and want to use it on a different network. (if you need all that...) good luck.

Cheapest way to get an unlock code?

Hey guys, i tried using the free method several times with no luck. Now im looking to pay for an unlock code. Anyone here know what the cheapest option is?
Search online I paid 25 for mine nd that wss goin into a cell shop

How long have you had your phone? I bought mine in May and I just called up AT&T and they gave me the code without any hassle. If you have had it 90 days and are not behind on bills then they have to give it to you, says so if you look at their page for doing it online. Mine said not able to but I called them.
After trying the fee method many times and it not working, you will be lucky if the code still works.
Just saw some on eBay that went for less than $10

Easiest way is to chat with ATT international. If your account is in good standing they will send you the code. Took me 5 minutes.

Call att. They will give you an unlock code for free. That's the cheapest way.

Tmob network unlock?

I bought a tmob n3 yesterday. Putting my Att Sim in I get a Sim unlock password request. I thought I could just pop in my Att Sim.and go..any ideas? Do I have to call tmob to get the unlock..I bought it at full price

I think I read somewhere that t-mobile will make you keep the phone on their service for at least one billing cycle before they unlock it.
You'd better just call them and ask, the store clerks will give you an answer, or 3 answers, probably all wrong.
Please update the thread when you know for sure.

Its a 40 day wait for unlock, not sure if you could talk some manager into bypassing it. You could try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2471742

That looks to work if you don't need a true unlock where you can use any sim without restricts. I had great results with cellunlocker.net. It's $25 but you never have to worry about it again.
+1 for cellunlocker.

[Guide] At&t Note 3 Sim Unlock

I bought two At&t Note 3s yesterday. One for me and one for a friend. I'm on At&t and my friend is on MetroPCS. I called At&t for an unlock and they couldnt get me a code, even though one was paid in full price and "qualified" to get unlocked according to them. So this is how I got the phones unlocked.
Reminder: I'm not responsible for any damage you may do to your phone. Proceed at your own risk!
Root is Required!
1. To root your At&t Note 3 follow this guide (Thank You designgears!)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2474422
2. You will need to allow unknown sources to be installed.
Settings>General>Security>Unknown Sources (Make sure its checked)
3. Install Chainfire's RegionLock Away App from Google Play Store (and buy him a beer :highfive or download it from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470551
4. Tap "Region Unlock" in the app
5. Let it do its thing
6. Choose Reboot Later (Thats what I did at least)
7. Turn off the phone and try a non-At&t sim card.
I tried my old T-mobile sim in mine and it pulled up, and we just got back from the MetroPCS store and have his running on that.

This works! I wonder if this affect the LTE because I think it modifies the modem. Have you notice a difference?

I have an unlocked note 3 simply I went into the AT&T store where I live and said unlock it or I won't buy it and bam they did it. I have a simple pay as you go T-Mobile card popped it in, input the code and unlocked I was. I had to buy the phone outright so was costly but not at all risky. LTE showed up just fine on the T-Mobile network.

You lucky mother fu
I asked at&t here about that since i bought one full price and they said, to call customer service. So did the next day and they "couldnt" give me the network code. I honestly dont care about an unlock as I'm on At&t.
The only difference is that you're phone wont be region unlocked. Sim unlock and region unlock are different.
Did you buy your phone full price/off contract?

Thats kinda of upsetting. I walked into the store and told them I wanted one full price and they were like "There's no 'full price', its just at&t next and you pay it off all at once if you want". I went online and showed them the option to do full price OR next, and they said they couldn't sell full price in the store. Didn't understand that because my s3 and note 3 were both full price at the store, Plus I've found deals with coupons online and they've matched it before! I hate when I go somewhere and I know more than the person working with me (I think he was just trying to get more commission off me.IDK). : They made me wait longer for the phone than I should've too. Guess my store here just sucks :rolleyes
Kudos to you. Wish that would've happened to me!

You just need to factory unlock it. If you can't get the unlock code from att there are YouTube videos of how to do it for free. I did it for free with the method of restoring the golden backup. Only took 5 mins.

Free methods don't work on newer firmwares. Only AT&T or a paid company can unlock it.

Yeah I was thinking about that as I was writing it to him. When I did it I was on 4.2 with the first build the phone came with. I think amdl. Either way you got options bud. You can buy a unlock code from amazon or eBay for really cheap

You can try this link https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/client/en_GB/
I did
I did it a month ago and it works well. Get an unlock doe from the website that costs $30 if you cant find a free way, i tried the one for $6 and they sent me my money back 2 days later because they couldn't do it. Once unlocked use the APN from these settings:
http://www.4gtricks.com/2013/04/t-mobile-4g-apn-t-mobile-4g-apn-settings.html
I tried all of the other ways for it and none of get the full LTE speeds like that one.
