If I wanted to try and repurpose a flippy phone to slave to a smart phone, and be able to pick up and end calls, would there be a particular model or OSS base I'd have the best luck with? Like having a smartphone, but my parents don't, and I want to find something bulletproof. If it could it somehow dial out as well, I'd be set, but one thing at a time I guess.

This would be cool to have. I'm sure there are a number of Nokia or Motorola phones out there that would work with Android if you're skilled enough as a hacker.
Gonna dust this off. What other ways could one go about having a flip phone pair to take calls from your smartphone, outside of fabrication wholesale? I dunno any cheaply disposable phones that can be reprogrammed, and maybe the Raspberry Pi could work, but it seems like a waste to throw that much hardware at a device that can stick in your ear. Anypony?

This is an awesome idea, though I am not sure how you'd do it.
The best I could find was this:
http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20073460-1/bluetooth-headset-pretends-to-be-mini-phone/
Which I actually found for sale here, but I have no idea how reputable that site is...
http://www.dinodirect.com/headset-tablet-pc-companion-bluetooth-dialer-phone.html
Anyone know of anything better?
I have bought some basic stuff (no phones ) from at dinodirect.com and it was ok for was it was (cheep).

Okay, Nice to know that there is a commercial option, but is there anywhere I can get bluetooth headsets and clamshell cases in bulk? I know a decent amount a solder-fu, and a friend with a CNC, so I might be able to get some sort of kickstarter going maybe perhaps?

Works as described
...and still on this thread, I have been looking for a Bluetooth Flip Dialer for ages. Lots of mini ones now, I dont want the worlds smallest bloody thing. I just want a normal size Flip phone handset to bluetooth to my smart phone.
This is my friend's SGS3. It was working perfectly normal till today.
Then after pressing the power button(the phone was locked), it didn't respond.
I tried to go every way I could. No download mode/ Recovery mode.
The phone was stock.(Never touched for any mod, not even rooted).
But now it just keeps rebooting irrespective of the mode I try to boot into.
Even with the power cable in, it just shows the battery bar and just keeps rebooting.
This is really irritating. The phone is hardly 4 months old.
It's a type of sudden death. But a weird death where the phone hasn't died nor is it alive.
I can go to the service center as I didn't have any modifications done, but it is really annoying that so many SGS3's die so quickly.
Any responses will be appreciated.

I will go to my "nearest" (it's a 100 mile trip!) service station Monday next week and hope that they fix it very fast!
Just take yours to the service station indicated by Samsung in your country and it should be fixed at no cost!
Good luck!!!!

HOWEVER, of concern would be: http://www.wsj.com/articles/BL-DGB-38641
Or
http://mashable.com/2014/10/30/cops...k-phone-with-fingerprint-ruling/#qY9xpZIBcuqK
Which is why I want to see some form of two factor authentication used on these phones. Having to use a PIN + fingerprint, Smart unlock with a paired Bluetooth device + fingerprint, or whatever + fingerprint would greatly increase security. It doesn't matter of you have anything to hide from the cops, if they confiscate your phone AND can compel you to unlock the device, the chances for your personal information to be used against you is greatly increased regardless of if you are innocent or not. I also figure that if a system is secure against law enforcement, it's probably harder for hackers to exploit.

It would be cool if they could make an app that you could have sequence of fingerprints to use a number of times that would do a factory reset. Like middle finger, index finger, index finger, ring finger. middle finger, or even make it so you need more than just a single scan to unlock. OR if your finger print was a code or sequence of fingerprint scans to unlock instead of just a simple finger print scan, then it would counteract the police states decision on invasion of privacy. That way they couldn't just force you to touch the fingerprint reader to unlock as it would need to know the proper sequence.
Hi guys I was wondering if there is a root method out for our device I'm on 7.0 nougat QAA.
I would like to know as well. All threads I've come across are for previous Android
You guys are asking for root already on the latest update lol. You do know that it took ages for them to even root marshmallow. The s7 edge has some tough security, with that said there isn't and will not be much development. If some how root is achieved, you will hear about it
How about root beer, I hear Dang's root beer is good
This drives me nuts! What is the point of open source development if the manufacturers and service providers are going to block all attempts to utilize open sources. The security is starting to piss me off. Guess I wait and hope someone strikes gold in getting a functional root on qaa.... sigh.

But Samsung is NOT open sourced. The Android software is, and Samsung takes that code and creates their own closed sourced ROM which we call touch wiz. Never did Samsung ever state their phones would be open sourced by any means. They will always lock their phones down, so don't hold your breath. If you want open get a Google phone as that is your only option. Not to sound like a jerk I'm just stating the facts. If the pixel XL finds its way on sprints network where I can lease it I'll get it.

I agree with you. I'm not buying the s8. I'm looking for sprint to carry some competition that isn't an iPhone. I'm dying for a pixel or even the newly announced Sony xz premium.

I am in the same boat. I need an OLED screen and want the largest screen possible. A 7'' even wouldn't faze me. Phone use is a secondary use, reading is primary. I am replacing my Nexus 6p.... I would like to go with a cheaper phone if it had these two criteria. I also want a doable phone so I can remove bloat; a lot of software makes my periodical blast list.
