Hi,
I recently upgraded to gingerbread and everything was working fine. I tried to root my phone. I successfully did so i believe since I see superuser. Now my wifi is turning on. I have tried multiple times but no luck. I was thinking of unroot my samsung captivate to check if that would help. I am not sure if that is a good option. Anyone who could help me resolve this issue. Worst part is I have to use my 3G all day.
Thanks in advance.
what method did you use to root your phone.? what android version are you running?
(i dont mean to teach you to suck eggs - menu - settings - about phone - android version) do you get the wifi signal bar in the status bar whether it is colored or grey?
try to replace the ROM
Firmware version: 2.3.5
baseband: I897UCKK4
Kernal: 2.6.35.7-I897UCKF1-CL273832
Build no. : GingerBread.UCKK4
I used Kies to update the official version of gingerbread and later on tried odin for rooting after which the wifi issue started. i dont see the wifi signal bar at all.
I tried to unroot my device using Odin again and not the 3G is also dead!!
would it help if i tried to root it allover again??
I am guessing if some some patch did go through successfully
Try this
Enable Airplane mode and disable ,Than try turning on Wifi or Data connectivity it works for me
Mabey try a hard reset *2767*3855# You lose everyting make a backup of your apps
Hello guys,
For the last month i have been fighting with connectivity issues on my SG4 i9505.
It starts out with just losing the connection and then getting it back, gradually over time it gets alot worse, so that it then requires using airplane mode and back to normal. along with *#*#4643#*#* disabling radio and enabling it again.
The next step is rebooting, but this does not always help, i often need to suppliment this with a cache format, which in new android versions is a real pain, exp with kitkat due to ART with it compiling. Anyway this is fare from the correct solution to do this multiple times a day.
I have also tried factory wipe, etc without luck, its the same as wiping cache with the side effect of losing my settings.
I tried getting a new simcard from a completely different carrier, this has not helped a bit, i also tried disabling 4g so that it only uses 3g (my carrier does not have 2g connectivity and on my previous carrier using 2g only did not help anything.
i started out with the XXUAME2 baseband, and i am now at XXUEMK9 and it has not helped to upgrade it.
I have been unreliable for over a month, phone calls drop, i can't reply to sms's without rebooting/wiping cache etc, asking around in diff irc channels without luck.
Does anyone have suggestions/solutions to this problem ? I really like to get my phone back up and working.

CM11 apparently does not have screenshot support yet, so i'll just manually write it in.(i am running latest nightly)
model number: GT-I9505
baseband version: I9505XXUEMK9
I am from Denmark, so the phone is unlocked.
I started out with Telenor, then Bibob and now Oister as carrier all 3 have had the same issues.
My phone came stocked with XXUAME2 so i am using the correct firmware according to varrious threads around.

1. Use Odin v3.09
2. Untick Autoreboot
3. Flash modem: HERE
4. Reboot manually into Download Mode using (Vol Down plus Home button combi)
5. Flash Modem once more
6. Once done, unplug then reboot device manually.
7. If this doesn't work, try repeating the flash process again while rebooting manually and with auto-reboot option turned off.
* If u have problems with wifi -> Try WIFI FIX too:HERE
Use it with care!!!
Open in Odin as PHONE or CP!!

Hi,
I believe you have flashed a wrong baseband, try to downgrade it. I had a similar problem with mine some time ago, I was with bad signal due to an outdated baseband, then when I flashed a new one, it wasn't compatible with my bootloader... So, try checking this thread to get one better for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192025.
I got my luck with the MJ5 baseband, I'm with the old bootloader too (UB).
Hope this helps,
~Lord
Hi guys, sorry for the slow reply, i had to be sure before saying if it was working or not working.
I downloaded the original rom/baseband from sammobile and tried it out, this turned out to be alot worse, due to i am unable to clear dalvik cache with the recovery clear cache.
also due to the lack of *#'*#4636#*#* it made the experiance alot worse.
the baseband i am now using is XXUEMKF with KNOX (so i am now knox 0x1)
I'm currently trying out the google edition, but looks like the issue remains.
funny thing is i do remember it working in the past with some old AOSP/AOKP version.
i'm completely lost, expecially due to its so random.
It gets to the point where i am unable to search for networks, and other times there is no issues.
Update:
Ok i've noticed something very strange, its some how tied into the wifi, when i disable wifi i lose my 3g/4g connection and when i enable it again the connection returnes quite fast. though the connection at points, can get lost again.

What Odin version are you using? Do you have installed kies 3 in your PC? If don't, install it to update the drivers and flash that 4.3 Rom you downloaded from sammobile again with Odin 3.09.
Fyi, once you had installed a4.3 knox rom, you are not able to return to a 4.2.2 stock Rom.

I am using odin 3.09 and kies 3 is installed, its been flashed many times
I've tried multiple reflashings, in fact every day last week was 2-5 flashes a day. I install my apps again and set them up each time, takes quite a long time, just to remove it again later on, got any suggestions to saving my apps and settings along with wifi ? (google restore does not work with all roms and is not always effective).
Googling my issue returns quite a few results with people that have simular issues but no solutions.

Sorry, but I only left to think you have a hardware problem...
You can make easy backups for selected user apps with System Tuner, and if you are root also system apps.
Good luck.

Back on stock after Cyanogen.
But for some reason... Seems like there was a system update (119MB). So I downloaded and installed it and now, it says Knox is blocking me from enabling my Wifi. I cant turn on the Wifi. Anyone else have this happen?
I have reset this device three times now and the wifi still refuses to enable.
It probably didnt update your baseband. What does your about phone say in settings?
root. delete knox. profit? try that
probably upgrade issue with baseband. See if the baseband version matches the software version, else you'd have to odin the baseband / flash full.
Galaxy S4 - i337m - Android 4.3
Okay, so here's my problem.
Today in the morning after I woke up, I checked my phone and it said it had downloaded a software update. It was just a complimentary update for 4.3, it said bug fixing, etc. in details. I clicked accept and the installation started.
After this, all crap started to happen.
The Wi-Fi NEVER worked again, everytime I clicked the Wi-Fi widget in the notification bar, it turned green and immediately switched back to gray. It also didn't work when trying to turn Wi-FI on from the settings menu.
I tried everything, the battery pulling, the thing of disabling the Wi-Fi energy save, and nothing worked. It all pointed to a factory reset.
So I did all my backups (My S4 was rooted), and finally made the factory reset.
After this finished, I did all the starting configuration of the S4 (like when it was brand-new). Then, I tried to turn on Wi-Fi.
Surprise, surprise. DIDN'T WORK.
I'm so desperate right now, I don't know what to do.
I'm currently downloading 4.4.2 to flash it via Odin, and see if this works.
Any help, please?
Flashing the 4.4.2 ROM you're downloading now should definitely fix the problem. I know that in some instances, us I9505 owners have to flash a stock ROM twice through Odin before the modem will function. It sounds like your software update broke the modem in this fashion, which is why the ROM install you're planning should fix it. Be aware however that installing KitKat will give you Knox if you don't already have it.

Hello All,
I have upgraded LG G2 to
LP 5.0.2
BB : M8974A-AAAANAZM-1.0.190128
Kernel : 3.4.0
Build : LRX22g
Software Version : v30-eur-xx
i am facing consistent WiFi issue after switching on it gets stuck at Wifi Turning on but does not connect.
It has got an MAC address. sometimes very rarely it may connect to WiFi but then disconnects after 3-4 minutes.
I have tried clear cache, factory reset but problem still there, has anyone faced similar issue and can help me here
many thanks
Did you have a problem before upgrading? If not, then it's unlikely to be a hardware issue and something could have gotten messed up in the update process.
If I were you, I would TOT back to KK following THIS GUIDE. After it installs, do a factory reset. After it restarts, then update to the latest ota and factory reset once more. That will get you a clean install as possible.
Btw, have you tried connecting to another wifi access point? Sometimes networks can be setup incorrectly(ie two routers with dhcp enabled on one network) which can cause problems.

Hello Stan54, I rooted my LG G2 last year and was on Kitkat, phone was running fine since that, in December I installed nova launcher and couple of other applications but not able to find the log. After that I started having this issue. One peculiar thing is it can start it's hotspot correctly and I can connect my PC to phone's hotspot WiFi SSID and bluetooth is fine as well but only Wifi keeps stuck at "Turning on" mode.
Since then i have
1. Flashed it to stock JB ROM {Using LG Flash tool}
2. Upgraded to LP5.0.2 using LG PC Suite
still the issue remains
one slight improvement I saw after that is
1. It connects to WiFi for a minute or 2 then goes to "Turning Wifi on" mode
I will try to go back to KK and follow steps as suggested and update.
thanks
Edit : I have tried connecting to other WiFi networks as well, same issue.
