wifi broken after gingerbread update/rooting - Networking

Hi,
I recently upgraded to gingerbread and everything was working fine. I tried to root my phone. I successfully did so i believe since I see superuser. Now my wifi is turning on. I have tried multiple times but no luck. I was thinking of unroot my samsung captivate to check if that would help. I am not sure if that is a good option. Anyone who could help me resolve this issue. Worst part is I have to use my 3G all day.
Thanks in advance.

what method did you use to root your phone.? what android version are you running?
(i dont mean to teach you to suck eggs - menu - settings - about phone - android version) do you get the wifi signal bar in the status bar whether it is colored or grey?

try to replace the ROM

Firmware version: 2.3.5
baseband: I897UCKK4
Kernal: 2.6.35.7-I897UCKF1-CL273832
Build no. : GingerBread.UCKK4
I used Kies to update the official version of gingerbread and later on tried odin for rooting after which the wifi issue started. i dont see the wifi signal bar at all.
I tried to unroot my device using Odin again and not the 3G is also dead!!

would it help if i tried to root it allover again??
I am guessing if some some patch did go through successfully

Try this
Enable Airplane mode and disable ,Than try turning on Wifi or Data connectivity it works for me

Mabey try a hard reset *2767*3855# You lose everyting make a backup of your apps

Mobile Data connection doesn't work.

Hey all, I've got a few problems with my SGS I'd like to share:
- As per the title, I have an issue with mobile internet (2G/3G). I have my APN set up correctly, and the data connection does work. BUT if I use an application like QuickSettings to turn off "Mobile Data (APN)" then try to switch is back on it will not work. I have tried the suggestion to use flight mode for a while and back on but that doesn't always work. I noticed that when my mobile data does start working, the wifi icon is usually turned ON (which I had turned off).
Another issue is with the WiFi. It can sometimes turn on by itself, even though it doesn't connect to a network. Plus, there are times that the icon is stuck at "turning off Wifi". Any suggestions?
- Galaxy S GT-I9000 (uk version),
- One-Click Lag Fix
- Rooted
- using QuickSettings
- WiFi sleep policy set to "Never"
i read all of the above, but you did not mention which ROM you were in.
i read about some ROMs doing exctly those things you are trying to fix
best way is to load a newer more stable stock ROM
Apologies, I am a noob
Using 2.1 update1
kernel 2.6.29
I'm sorry, I don't even know how to find which ROM I'm using. I'm pretty sure it's the default Samsung ROM with latest update since Kies keeps telling me there's no update available. If that info is not enough please let me know how to find out which rom I'm using, thanks!
try this instead
*#1234# display phones current firmware

ok, so apparently I have:
PDA: I9000XXJF3
PHONE: I9000XXJF3
CSC: I9000XAJF3
No idea what that means but there you go!
yup, that's way too old
definitely upgrade to something newer
do you have Kies installed?
if you hook up your phone to Kies it should tell you that there is a new ROM available

OK, finally managed to set up Kies in a way that it detects my phone in Kies mode...and it says there's not update available!
Eitherway, I Odin to flash to JM8 (official i think) and now the mobile data problem is gone...It feels like the phone is working a bit faster aswell. Thanks!
Same problem of zeusalmighty, but I have frojo rom updated from kies.

Nexus 4 wifi troubles after upgrade to 4.4.2

Hey guys,
I am having trouble connecting to wifi after I upgraded to 4.4.2.
When I leave the house my phone shows its still connected to my home network, or if I connect to a network and return home, it shows I am still connected to that previous network. Also when I return home I am unable to connect to my home network until I reboot my phone.
Wifi optimize is off, wifi idle on sleep is off... I am not sure what else it could be. Any suggestions? I use my phone for voip over wifi (csipsimple) so this is extremely frustrating !
Thanks
Was this a OTA update? Are you running the latest radio? Did you try a factory reset?

my phone was rooted, so i could not install the OTA update. I tried many ways to update it without wiping the data over the phone but it would not boot. In the end I had to wipe the phone and flash the image from the google website (manually flash, bootloader, radio, image and all). Lost all my pictures .
I used the image from : developers - google - com - Android 4.4.2 (KOT49H)
BUMP^ any ideas what I can do to fix this?
After flashing to 4.4.2, does the baseband end in .97 or .98?

I am sorry, I do not know what the baseband is

Unable to enable Wifi since recent update? Knox?Knox Whos there??

Back on stock after Cyanogen.
But for some reason... Seems like there was a system update (119MB). So I downloaded and installed it and now, it says Knox is blocking me from enabling my Wifi. I cant turn on the Wifi. Anyone else have this happen?
I have reset this device three times now and the wifi still refuses to enable.
It probably didnt update your baseband. What does your about phone say in settings?
root. delete knox. profit? try that
probably upgrade issue with baseband. See if the baseband version matches the software version, else you'd have to odin the baseband / flash full.

[Q] ATT S4 4.4.2 WiFi not working - Please Help

Hey, I have a Galaxy S4 that I recently bought. It was rooted on 4.4.2, but the wifi was not working. I just used Odin and flashed the 4.4.2 stock rom onto it. That worked, and now the phone is on stock, and it looks like the root is gone. The issue is, the wifi still doesn't work. The light is light-green from the notifications bar, and when I press on, it stays gray, and goes to off in around 15-20 seconds. I have tried to:
-Restart
-Factory reset
-Remove battery when phone is still on
- Turn power saver off/on via *#0011#
- Delete Wcf CONFIG file (not sure if right name) from the root explorer /data/etc/misc/wifi when it was still rooted
I really appreciate you reading this and trying to help me. I bought this phone last weekend to gift to someone for their birthday (on Monday), and it will make a horrible gift if there is no wifi.
I'm thinking the issue has to be: either the Modem is missing, and wasn't included in the flash of the original stock rom, and now I need to flash that also, but I don't know where to get that for my model.
The second thing I can think of is that it is a hardware issue, but I don't think that's the issue. I've heard of a lot of people having the same type of problem when rooting, but they usually get it fixed by one of the steps mentioned above.
Phone info:
Model: SGH i337
Version: 4.4.2
Baseband: I337UCUFNB1
Kernel: 3.4.9-505595
[email protected] #1
Build: KOT49H.I337UCUFNB1
I really appreciate it.
If you flashed the nb1 tar with Odin, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50912149, Wi-Fi should be working. If it isn't it probably is hardware. You will lose root flashing the stock firmware so that's normal.
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app
Oh ok. I was afraid it might end up being hardware. Thanks for confirming.

[Q] Wifi lost; Unique problem maybe.

Anyways as my title says, i don't have wifi. I had first rooted my phone, but then I unrooted my phone by flashing some unrooted os on the samsung which caused two problems. My wifi and mobile data didn't work at all, but after I took it to a repair shop they fixed the mobile data and got it working again and rooted my phone but not the wifi part. According to the person that tried to fix my phone, the current android os, 4.3 - jellybean, that i flashed via odin is preventing the wifi from working. I don't really know whats wrong with the phone but can anyone help me? Also by baseband version is 1337UCUFNJ4 and the build number is JSS15.1337UCUEMK2. Should i try to find a ROM that matches my baseband version and flash it via odin? Thank you in advance!
P.S. This is my first thread, so please tell me if i violated any rules.

im having the same problem and i think we both have knox stupid security back on the phone that's blocking the wlan to start from bad permission or encryption
so personally yeah i will install back the original firmware (before 4.3) from factory reset (or via odin if i have to force it) then im gonna re-root the phone
having back permission ill remove knox (probly with titanium) lock and box bs from base firmware and probly remove root right
then im guessing ill have my internet back now will i go full rom again or basic function thats a good question
so many freaking remote exploit lately
ill let you know if that fix it
I also just found this

1. untick "Auto reboot" in odin
2. flash the stock rom again
3. reboot your phone to download mode again (by holding the power and vol down button for 10 sec)
4. flash the stock rom a second time with auto reboot ticked
This will fix your problem.

seems that clicking auto reboot might be the cause
so would i install the I337_NJ4_Stock_Kernel.tar.md5 file following that method or would i have to find another firmware/rom/(i don't know what to call this) unrooted

official did not work for me
i the flashed / reset to factory for Galaxy S4 SGH-I337M VLUAMDJ
rebooted and prayed but no luck
finally found a solution but that did changed my PDA version to 9505 but got everything working again
so if you dont mind the 9505 change (more rom and solution for 9505) id go with echoes for all in 1 fresh install solution and its a nice rom
Instruction can be found on this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2372286
knowing the problem was modem i did also found this solution to re-flash and fix wifi on i337 without changing to 9505
Follow these instruction to stay i337 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46762296&postcount=1
but i have not tested for i337
in the end i got this setup
rom echoes illusion kot 49h
kernel : 3.4.103-aelkernel-v6.2
bootloader and baseband i337mvlufnc1
pda :i9595v jughn2
hardware/ board : qcom/msm8960
platform / chip : msm8960 / apq9064
modem /board : mdm9215m
hope that help
and sorry for bad english http://cdn4.xda-developers.com/images/icons/icon8.gif
EDIT PS: These solution require basic knowledge with odin flash and cwm recovery or twrp recovery
