I dnt know if anyone has the same problem with me.
I am using the Stock Rom .254 , with rooted, locked BL
I use the new 32GB Class10 Sandisk micro SD card 2 weeks ago
Then sth awful happened!
Last week, I connect my phone to the computer, and I am deleting some useless image file in the DCIM folder, suddenly, all the photos in my phone is disappeared!! And cant be found anymore.
And today, just several minutes ago, I connect my phone to the computer and delete files in the internal memory, suddenly it lags. I plug out from the computer. All the media files including music and photos are disappeared! (Last time only photo)
I dnt know what's going on so anyone can help?
Your Micro SD is corrupted.
Go buy another one.
(This can happen if you write a lot on the microSD, especially when using Chinese p2p streaming apps that downloads and uploads videos you watched e.g. Qvod, PPS, PPlive etc)
*These apps are legit apps, they pay regional copyright fees to copyright holders. (As long as you use it within /VPN to China)
This excludes Qvod though.
Try to avoid these apps.
One of the other app that can cause this is a Chinese novel downloader. It can download hundreds to thousands of files for just one book.
(1 file per chapter).
Simply avoid any apps that uses p2p downloading, and writes a lot.

Hello all!
Yesterday, while trying to load a couple files and install a program, my Hermes kept locking up. Found out my Card was almost full. (Lexar XD 2Gb)
Turns out somehow during that process, it correpted two folders on my Card, the Programs Files and the Live Search Folders. I have no access to those folders (can open them, but cannot delete files) and programs using them like AvantGo will not work.
I tried deleting both on the Device itself, then on the PC (2 pcs, work and home) through activesync, and finally putting the card into a Card Reader and trying to access and delete from my PC. Nothing worked.
I then tried to Fdisk to find errors, but Fdisk would report it couldn't do it after 10 secs. Tried the reboot and check also, no go.
So it looks like a few folders are corrupted. Anyone know of any (preferably free) software that can fix this issue. Otherwise I'll trun to Frys and get a new card, but it has a lot of stuff on it and I'd rather not have to do that at this time.
I should mention, most of the folders work fine, all my music, pictures, file back up etc work ok. Its just those two upper lvl folders and anything inside them. Wierd!
Thanks!
Do not know any software which can fix the issues you described.
But you mentioned that you are going to buy another disk.
I don't believe that's necessary.
You should be able to format the disk. Usually formatting the disk should clean all the badly recorded parts on the disk.
You might also want to invest in a good back up software in the future for when similar occasions happen again.
Well, a quick google shows all sorts of software out there, most of it more for saving stuff (mostly image related) but others that are supposed to fix corrupted sectors supposedly, looking for peeps in here that have run into same problem.
Been planning on a new card at some point, 4-8gb would be nice, just wasn't planning on going that way quite yet.
And I back things up, but you cant back up installed programs, you have to re-install them. Like I said, all the Data and stuff is fine.....
A piece of software called DelinvFile might help. 15 day trial available.
Hi all.
Today I noticed that in last 2 days I had lost around 300 photos from the SD card. I had around 600 photos on Thursday, more than half are gone (randomly, couldn't see a pattern for leftover photos). On Friday I upgraded the phone to .6 from .3, it wiped out the phone but was not supposed to delete anything from SD card. My music and video files seem to be not affected, ebooks are also untouched. SD card itself seems to be working fine, no corrupted files, no unusual files/folders on it. I don't think it was the upgrade but have no idea what could have happened. Before the upgrade I had to install HTC sync, to get the driver. Does it do something by default? Does it sync/remove any files?
We just came back from vacation. Most of the pictures were taken on my camera, but I had good amount of shots on the phone. It's my fault for not coping everything before the update but I wanted to know if you had seen anything like that.
My only hope is to check the work computer that I used for upgrade, but I don't think sync would move files without any notice.
This may not be what happened to you but i did have a friend that did the upgrade OTA, there wasnt enough space on his SD card for the OTA file, plus i guess it also needs extra space to swap files. Therefore, in his situation files on the sd were randomly overwritten. Anyway this im getting 3rd party from him so it might not apply to you but thought id toss it out there.

Did the pics get moved to LOST.DIR? Sometimes when you plug your phone into a computer and don't eject or unmount the card, some files get corrupted and moved there. It sucks cuz it removes the extension, and changes the file name to a number, but sometimes you can just add the jpg extensions and save the pics. It's worth a try.

Yep. Same thing happened to me. I wasn't doing any kind of upgrade or anything. Still had 4+ Gigs free on my SDcard. Opened up the gallery and it only had 10 pictures in it. 90something pics just gone. I checked LOST.DIR and there is one big file in there around 140MB. Can't find a way to extract it.
Luckily, I had a backup on my laptop that was only a couple of days old so I got most of my pics back, but still annoying.
LOST.DIR has one small file.
I didn't think about not enough space on SD. I had around 300Mb when started the update, I didn't have to copy anything to the card, it was ran from the computer.
My lesson (again and again): there is not enough backup.
Thanks for replies!
I just switched from the iPhone 4S 64 GB AT&T to the Note 3 32GB AT&T and put in a Sandisc extreme 64GB microSDXC.
I had problems with the iPhone freezing and crashing. Doing a factory reset, a lot of my programs disappeared from iTunes. It was getting to be really annoying.
On the Note 3 I love the screen (size and resolution) and many other things. Asphalt 8 and RealRacing 3 look and play great.
While I had to call AT&T to block my outgoing Caller ID, I could do that from the Note 3.
There is no sales tax on purchases from Google Play store in Texas, while Apple always charged me 7-7.5% (I know because there is no "retail presence" of the Google Play store in TX).
Bad annoyance: I did, for as many programs as I could, the "Move to SD Card" and now I have ugly default android gray icons with SD in the right lower corner. How do I get the original icons back without transferring back to "device memory".
I am trying to upload music files to the SD card.
When I use Samsung Kies 3, will it upload the files to the SD (did not see an option for that anywhere). If it does not install it to the SD card: where are those files uploaded and how do I transfer the files over to SD and how do I play the files/playlists? Is there a way to directly transfer the files from the computer to the phone bypassing Kies. How and where do I upload books (pdf and other formats)?
Anyone know if there will be a combination extended battery/wireless charging case in the future?
My 14 days return time frame is not over, but they would have to "pry it from my cold dead hands".
The way I would do it is to just take the SD card out of the phone, stick it in the computer, copy and paste. The music player should find the songs automatically. As for the icon thing with the "move apps to SD card".... I don't know about that one. I haven't seen any reason yet to do that.
Welcome to Android, where you can use any file explorer on any OS to copy any file you want to any location on your phone.
You don't need to use Kies for media. Just use the phone and SD like you would any usb storage. In the music app you can then either select the specific folder, or let it scan the entire device.
Also no need to convert files, it plays pretty much anything. (and if the stock player won't, another will. For video I suggest Diceplayer from the start.)
Kies is for backup and sync, everything else you can do the good oldfashioned way. Most of us have never even installed Kies.

OK first you need to release the mindset of itunes for everything as in with Kies. DONT USE KIES lol
Just plug in your note 3, open up the folder you want, it will say phone or card
Drag the files you want. If thats not cool with you, there is an app called iSync that can copy your iTunes playlist over to your phone.
Also I think you should leave your Apps on the phone memory and not on the SD. Use the SD for media and your internal for apps and such. This way if you need to replace the sd or whatever you will be good.
Historically Google removed that option from android because it causes issues like for example the corrupted icons you've experienced. Samsung only added it back in with the 16 gb s4 because the system rom got so big it left users with less than 9 gb available space.
As the poster above said chuck all your media files on the external card. The 25 gb you will have initially available internally is more than enough for all of your apps unless you install a dozen or more high end games. Likely you'll only ever play a few at a time and then remove them when you get bored, at least I do.

Thanks for all the tips. I will try it tonight.
Welcome to Android, enjoy the coming months of playing around and finding out what you've been missing out on! I was an apple user until the Galaxy S2, since then I've never looked back! One little warning though, customisation becomes addictive... Flashing Roms, kernels, rooted apps/services.
Xda has some amazing devs contributing and as always they are happy to help a friendly fellow androider.
Back on topic though, I wouldn't even bother moving your apps the SD card? 32GB is loads of internal storage! Even tho we only see 25(ish)of that, below is my games folder and I have 8GB of internal memory left! But if I feel like freeing up space I'll simply use Es file Explorer and copy the game files from Android /data to my SD card (if rooted, use titanium backup app to backup the apk of the game) and swap back in at a later date if I wanted to play again
Hope this helps

I saw iSyncr in the app store for $3.99 but there were a lot of 1 star ratings.
I will do the direct copy via Windows.
I bought the Aquos (reluctantly) a couple of weeks ago and am not overall impressed, but am stuck with it for now...so am dealing.
But I have having major anxiety (OK, maybe just major annoyance) about the storage issue. I have a 64gb card attached and it is fairly useless. I can't move apps over since the firmware doesn't support app2sd (i think that is what i saw one Dev put on their site).
OK, so I downloaded ES File Explorer and I can move things between the device storage and the SD card easy enough, but as soon as I move images - the gallery won't show them anymore.. They are there... I can navigate to them from apps... But just not the gallery.
In my gallery you can see folders i moved onto the card via taking the card our and putting it in a reader. So I know the gallery 'sees' the card.
I have even moved and/or saved a file into one of the folders on the card that is already showing... And they don't show in the gallery.
Is anyone else having this issue? Or is this maybe just my phone.. (I have tried 2 different SD cards, a 32gb and the 64gb and get the same results)

I have used ES File Explorer for years and haven't had this issue, even on the Crystal...
Are they images that other Image Browsers can view also? If the Gallery app is set to default, clear it, and try viewing the photos with ES, Google Photos, or other apps when it prompts you to choose an app to display the pic.
If that fails, try formatting the card through the phone and moving the photos again.
I use quickpic always an it always registers when I move anything over through es.
Always is a loaded word... If it always worked then why isn't It still working?
Before you give up on this phone I think you should try my above post or something else. Instead of factory resetting the phone as a last resort I think you should do so anyways to see if that will fix the freezes you've been having.
My personal opinion is that you should see if your problems go away by trying X (whatever that might be). My philosophy is that if something is broken I try and fix it. If I can fix it I'll be cautious to not repeat the initial problem. If I can't, whether it's not worth fixing after evaluation or too expensive to do so, I can have a clear-ish conscious towards disposing of it. In the end this is my opinion and you can do whatever you want with your stuff.
Well in the past 4 years quickpic is THE ONLY gallery app I'll use. ES and Quickpic are the first 2 things I install on any new ROM and phone. As far as always goes I just said that because I have never had an issue with it or es.
I don't know what to tell you...
I too use ES as my file manager and previously used that to transfer most of my images to my SD card. After I installed Quickpic I was able to view all the images I transferred to my SD card.
Gallery image fail
format your sd card on a pc then reinsert it into your phone it should work then.
Lost Gallery photos

I had this same problem and with ES files. Look through you're files and if you find files " .nomedia " delete them . I still don't know how the .nomedia files got on my phone but soon as I deleted them all my photos in Gallery showed back up. No more problems with photos.
Back last February I had a problem with files named
.nomedia and they caused problems with my photos stored on my phone. After I realized it was nomedia files causing the problem I deleted all nomedia files and all was good until last week. Now the nomedia files are showing up again. I delete them only to have the nomedia files return. Delete the file and it shows back up in a different place,in a different file. It's always someplace on my SD Card and I can't get rid of it.
I'm not sure what to do?
My device is
SAMSUNG-SM-G925A
S 6 EDGE
5.1.1
kernel 3.10.61

Thank you in advance for your time and help.

Hi All
I really need some help with this one - I have a M30S which is only a couple of years old and I have a problem with data - Mainly MUSIC - MP3 and also MUSIC VIDEOS -. Mp4's etc.
So, I downloaded the music and videos etc and then - Using File Manager Plus App (From Google PS) - I Move the files to the SDCARD.
2 THINGS - A) The Files I moved are simply not in the Folders I pasted them in to! The Newly created folders are still there - Just no files in them!
B) Less annoying but still not right - All files which are in the Downloads folder are still there - Whether I have MOVED, (or COPIED THEM). Also if I accidentally refresh the folder by scrolling down or up the screen ALL the files reappear - Including ones I have deleted earlier!
I have tried several different New SDCARDs and read information on the Samsung galaxy M30s on Samsung's site but none of it has been any help! I have tested the SDCARDs - Using "True SD CARD CAPACITY". The result shows that an SDCARD with a total storage of 512GB only has an available Capacity of 3GB - When there is no data over 1GB Max! Actually on the card!
Any ideas with be welcome!
Thanks for your help

Use only name brand cards like Sandisk Extreme bought from a known good source.
Format card in device. Leave it there and never use on another device. Never.
Toss the Gookill junk file manager first, then...
Use Samsung file manager to do all copy/paste operations.
Hi Blackhawk - Thanks for your help! The SD CARDs have been Good quality - San Disk, Kingston etc and all bought from totally trusted sellers and brand new - sealed products.
I have no problem with the internal storage - and the File Manager I use works absolutely fine with any other operation except when it is related to the SD CARD!
Sorry I just don't get it - I am going to format the card (but have done it before),
Then, I will use the Samsung File Manager to do some copying and pasting and see if it will work OK
Big thanks for your help and I will update here in case you want to know what happened!

You're welcome. Scoped storage may be screwing with you. Common files like media should be ok but you may need to grant permission for it to work. Don't know as I specifically avoided using Android 11 and up.
Pie runs too good to mess with it. 10 is less friendly but usable.
I have a zero confidence level in all Google apps... they earned that.
