[Q] TWRP problems - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't flash twrp 2.6.3.3, I can only flash 2.6.3.2. When I tried to flash 2.6.3.3 I would get a security error and it would go to black screen. How can I update to 2.6.3.3? I've read somewhere in here that you can flash 2.6.3.3 through using 2.6.3.2? It doesn't really make sense to me so any resources or info would be greatly appreciated. Also I've reached my daily limit of flashing recovery on Flashify, are there other free apps that can let me flash recovery?

[Q] Replace TWRP with latest ClockworkMod

Hi all,
Could not find anything related to this so will just ask.
I am currently on CarbonROM and have TWRP as my recovery. I have read that with Android 4.4, you will less problems flashing it over 4.3 if you are on CWM rather than TWRP.
So can I just flash the latest CWM over my current TWRP using the following command: fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.3-mako.img ?
Thank you in advance.
yes, you can just flash right over. or.. you can use the modified multirom version of twrp if you want to keep using twrp, kitkat flashes fine with it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2508840

Changing from one recovery to another??

I've got CWM recovery installed on my VZW G2 as I wanted to install the latest Gummy 4.4 based ROM. Now I'd like to switch back to TWRP. Can I just go into CWM and flash the TWRP2.6.3.3recovery.zip file? Or do I have to do something different? Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!
The way I've been doing it is to boot into whatever ROM I have installed, and do it from a terminal there (su and loki_flash the other recovery). I don't see why your method wouldn't work; mine might be a little safer since it doesn't modify the recovery while you're in recovery mode.

I switched from CWM to TWRP and just reflashed the zip. I am assuming recovery gets loaded into memory allowing you to overwrite the contents of the recovery partition.
Cool, cool!! I'm off to give it a try.......reflashing the zip file that is.
Thanks again guys!!
Flashing Recovery
I've gone back and forth between TWRP and Philz Touch by simply flashing the zip and rebooting recovery. Personally, I prefer Philz but it does not work well with the latest PA4

[Q] Flashing on TWRP

I have a D801 (T-Mobile). I rooted it a while back. I'm a bit of a noob. Recently, I wanted to flash KitKat. To do that, I had to flash a custom recovery. I installed TWRP as that was the one my instructions gave me. However, I am unable to flash anything. I cannot flash kitkat, cwm, stock, etc. I need any and all suggestions to at least flash stock recovery though I would really prefer to flash cwm.

Having a recovery that is up to date is key to flashing kitkat roms. I use Freegee. It's a free app in the Play Store. Once you install and run you'll have the option to install a recent twrp or cwm. You flash the recovery from the app, could not be easier. I recommend twrp 2.6.3.3 as I had issues with cwm 6.0.4.6 and it's also faster.
Make sure you're rooted before
Returned to Stock

I was rooted. Also, nothing seemed to recognize d801. They recognized the verizon, att, and the international but not t-mobile. I eventually just had to reinstall the stock rom as installing cwm over twrp froze my phone on the lg logo. Haven't gotten back around to rooting it again. When I do, I will definitely try that app.
Thank you

Thanks you for suggesting Freegee. I have been unable to flash anything for a while but after I downloaded Freegee and updated my version of TWRP I was able to flash the current version of PA.

[Q] [Help] Can't flash a recovery

Hi,
I currently have CWM 6.0.4.4 installed on my d802 but I can't update it.
I have tried flashing using this tool:
CWM 6.0.4.7
TWRP 2.7.0.0
CWM Touch 6.0.4.4
I also tried flashing with ROM Installer.
In every case, the flash seems to work fine, but I reboot to recovery and it's still CWM 6.0.4.4 and nothing has changed. I've tried factory reset, wiping cache (dalvik too), yet it didn't make a difference.
If it matters, I'm currently using CM 10.2-20131110-NIGHTLY-d802.
The point of this is because I get an error when I try to flash a kitkat rom (e.g. CM 11.2) and I assume I need to update recovery.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2584938 Try flashing twrp 2.7 this way
OH MY GOD I had Root Access set to Apps Only in Dev options. I feel like an idiot.
Thanks anyway Art, at least Flashify made me realise there was an issue with root.

[Q] What recovery should I use for Lollipop?

I tried flashing Alucard's Lollipop with an older CWM and while it did show he animated CM logo, it never made it to the actual welcome screen. Not sure if others have had that problem but I would like to update to a newer recovery. Can anyone provide me with a link to a better one?
Also, I did try using Odin to flash TWRP but it said PIT error. Not sure if this is related or not.
Try flashing TWRP using Nandroid manager app from the google play store. That's how I did it. Download an TWRP img and flash it with that app.
I use TWRP 2.8.3.0 and flashed CM12 a few times. Even CM12.1.
I suggest you use TWRP recovery personally I'm more into CWM but for this one TWRP.
