Bootlogo issue - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm locked and rooted. I used SS to install Rage Rom. Doing this changed the boot logo to the something else. I need to send my phone back to Verizon but need to get my boot logo changed back before I do.
How would I go about doing this? I can't seem to find a stock boot logo anywhere. Does anyone have one?
Thanks

Edit this will fail you must Rsd to stock AFAICT but

Thanks Avi.
There is a stock logo in this thread. DL it, place it in your SD, and flash in recovery.

I thought logo.bin was locked along with boot & recovery?

I flashed the stock boot image. It changed... but not to the correct one. The logo it was before flash was the word Rage with the Moto logo behind it. Now it's changed to the words "Rage HD". I double and triple checked that it was the stock one but it's not changing it to stock.

Since the ROM changed his boot image, he should be able to reflash the stock one. I think I remember flashing boot logos back in my SS days, but that was long time ago.

"Rage HD" is the boot logo that comes with the Rage ROM for the Razr HD. Are you sure you grabbed the correct one off the thread? If you can't get it to flash, you'll probably need to RSD back to stock.

This is the 1st big m.
If it is the 2nd one a restore should fix.

It was definitely the right one. I chose the Moto red M one and the name of the zip is StockBootLogo. It didn't change it from the Rage HD. Someone else had suggested using fastboot to send the logo.bin over. I can try that and see if it works.

Thanks for the help guys. I was able to do the fastboot flash and it worked perfectly. I had no idea how to do that before too so there was a little learning too.

Oh wow, that didn't even run through my head. I guess I've just always flashed in recovery since my BL is unlocked. It is good to hear you got it taken care of, though.

Actually, the bootlogo is the only thing you can (cross-)flash with a locked bootloader. For example you could take the SoftBank logo out of a 201M *.xml.zip and flash it onto an XT907. It works.
But ok, it's not that useful in most cases...

Samsung Vibrant wrong Rom (help!)

I try to fix this phone and this is the problem. Somebody flash a AT&T (I think Samsung Captive stock) rom and now the phone put AT&T logo at the first boot. I use odin for restore to stock vibrant but still appear the At&t logo first and next the vibrant logo. If anyone can give me some tips I will apreciate that.
\Thanks
I would try eugenes "froyo that does not brick" rom. Use odin to flash it. It seems to solve alot of problems. Just an idea. If it works you should be able to flash stock after that. Follow the directions eugene gives regarding it. Good luck.
Let me know if it works.

I did that too. I used Eugene and the stock tar but still whit the problem. The phone have everything good except the At&t logo. I try to delete the file with root explorer but i dont know where is it.
Maybe try one of the new Team Whiskey roms? They replace the boot image. Out of ideas if that doesn't work.

I flashed Eugene r1 but nothing happen. I will flash TW for see if that fix my issue.

So the phone works fine you are trying to remove the AT&T logo from the boot animation?
In root explorer scroll down to system> media> once in there there should be a boot animation.zip that is the boot animation. Try reading this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732311
it tells you how you can change the boot and shutdown animations and sounds.
flash a different kernel.
What you are seeing is the ATT logo attached to the SBL.
You will need to flash this:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2R2XOZ0X
it is a update.zip from a stock Vibrant.
Place it on the root of your SD and boot into stock recovery
adb reboot recovery
reinstall packages
This will flash the Vibrant SBL and will fix the ATT logo on your vibrant.
You'll want to reinstall CWM through rom manager afterwords.

This just worked for me, thank you so much!!!
Thank goodness for this thread to fix and remove the AT&T logo and this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793693&page=2) to revive a bad flash done on my part. I accidentally flashed Eugene's Ginger Clone R5 for the Samsung Captivate onto a Samsung Vibrant. Stupid me that I didn't check whether the Ginger Clone was for the Samsung Vibrant. Of course, that soft bricked the phone. It would looped into AT&T logo and Samsung logo. By the way, krylon360's instruction stated that flashing should be done from stock recovery. This can actually done by rebooting into Clockwork's recovery and flashed from there, provided that update.zip is placed on the internal sdcard (don't replace Clockwork's update.zip, rename it to something else temporary).

Help please!

I am new to rooting the X. And I tried Liberty, it is a great rom but I miss some of the stock features. I made a backup of stock using clockwork and when I tried to use the backup, Liberty is still showing up when the phone fiirst reboots. How do I completely get rid of the rom and get back to just being rooted without a custom rom? Thank you for your help
So only the liberty boot logo is showing up? If so in the liberty toolbox i think you can change it to the stock moto one.
no, i mean after i used my stock backup the liberty logo is showing up when the stock rom boots up

You say "no" but basically restate what he said... lol I'm a little confused what the problem is now... You seem to be describing that the boot animation is that of Liberty, it which case you could just push bootanimation.zip of a stock ROM to your phone, afaik.
i apologize, yes he was correct i misread. where can i find the bootanimation that u are talking about, and how exactly do i do that? thanks and sorry about the confusion

Here is a link to how to flash a bootanimation. I realize this isn't what you are looking for (being that it is R2D2) but it provides some nice instructions! You'll have to do a bit of searching, I'll look around a bit for you too. I'll be back!
EDIT: Here we are! Tut & all! http://www.droid-life.com/2010/06/24/download-droid-x-boot-animation/
Enjoy! Let me know how it goes.
update: ok i downloaded the bootanimation.zip tried installing through terminal emulator. seemed to work, but Liberty still shows up and then the normal Droid X boot up sequence happens. sorry but my ocd is kicking in and i gotta fix this. Thanks again
download liberty toolbox from the market and go to liberty mods/boot logos/stock moto logo. download and flash that and you'll be good
Thanks Matt, that worked perfectly. And thanks to everyone else for trying to help. I appreciate it

[SOLVED] Boot animation missing.

Well, usually when I boot my TMN 2.1 ROM, I see a TMN splash screen and then the regular Android boot animation with the glowing text.
However, from day before yesterday, this is not happening. The TMN splash appears and the screen goes blank. Then after some time the regular Android text animation appears and immediately loads the launcher/home.
Everything appears to be working fine. Even the time taken for boot looks normal but the screen suffers a blackout for some time during the boot.
Any idea how to fix it or why this happens?
In my lg gt540 reference thread in developers part there is a post about possible solutions when you brick your phone, check it out, hope it helps!
hi lavero, i just wanted to ask which app you use for customizing your phones visuality like launchers, widgets, etc. i couldnt able to pm you cause im at the school now and gives problem with pm'ing.
sorry for my english.
@lavero: The phone is not bricked. :/ It works fine. Only boot animation is missing.

Check if you don't get to see recovery too. If so then is bricked but not big deal just check my thread and do what is in there
Now if you manage to get in recovery try flashing boot.img again but always erase then flash. What was the last ROM you flashed?
Sent from my GT540 using XDA App
Am in the stock ROM with fastboot. The ROM used to work fine. I installed a few apps and ubuntu(from nexus one hacks)... The recovery works fine too..
The boot animation(Android logo) is stored in boot.img? Not in system.img? Looks like I will need a bit of tinkering to extract boot.img from the kdz.
Anyway, thanks. I could just try a clean flash. Restoring apps is the only pain since I use link2sd. I should've made a NAND before that day. :/

Boot loop not past Evo Splash screen

I know this is a known issue but I wanted to see if anyone has had any luck yet.
My phone only gets to the HTC Evo splash screen and reboots. I can get into hboot and when i choose recovery from hboot it goes back into the boot loop.
This just happened to me a few days ago. I went from MikG to Deck to CM7. I just flashed CM7 over Decks 1.3 wiping only cache and dalvik. I was starting to really dig CM7 and I was planning on sticking with it. When it happened I was using the stock web aplication. I finished reading the page I was on and hit the back button (the one at the bottom of the phone) and next thing I knew my phone started rebooting. It never made it past the Evo splash screen since. I've been able to flash different hboots and it takes but it does not take any of the recoveries or RUUs. Has anyone had any luck with this yet? Or does anyone have any different advice with the extra info I have provided?
To reiterate I cannot get into recovery only hboot.
Thanks a ton in advance all.

To thee root of your SD card and then boot into HBOOT to load it.
Make sure it is named PC36IMG.zip

I appreciate the link but my issue is that I can flash the recovery files from hboot but to my dismay I still cannot get to recovery from the recovery selection within hboot. There seems to be an issue where hboot hands the reins off to recovery or android. I'm not sure how to troubleshoot or overcome something like that. Maybe my assumption is wrong but who knows.
You don't have to go into recovery to flash a pc36img. It happens in Hboot.
In theory, you should be able to flash that, then flash recovery.

Is the link provided not Amra recovery? That is what it looks like to me, but I could be wrong. Please advise. I can flash the recoveries in hboot but when i go to recovery from the hboot screen and select it the boot loops commence.
Unfortunately, that is a problem that you can search and see a fair number of people have had and I don't think anyone has fixed it as it means bad blocks and/or something to do with partitions being resized and I hate to even say this, but all but a very few cases were running CM7

I hope you hear something. Mine is exhibiting a similar behavior. Maybe time to trash this phone or at least flash it back to stock so I can take it back to Sprint.

I wish i could flash it back to stock so i could use it again. I paid $200 for this thing. I'd like to get a few more years out of it. Nothing like the OG. I've tried running the RUU files from windows while in hboot and the files do change as I flash different versions. I noticed this when during the ruu program it shows you the from/to screen. So I know the RUU programs are working, it's just that the hboot recovery/ROM handshake is not happening. I guess I'm hosed ATM.

[Q] XT907 Will Not Boot

I hate to start a new thread. I'll make it quick and hopefully be gone.
My Verizon XT907 is unlocked bootlaoder, was running CM10.1, and I wanted to go back to stock because I lost 4G. Went to RSD and flashed the JB 4.1.2 file. Went through the process and said PASS, but the phone just stays on the boot animation. Tried multiple times to the same result. Would appreciate any help.

Another option would be to boot to the bootmenu (Power and Vol+/Vol-), press vol- until you get to recovery (then vol+ to select), and wipe data/checes from in there.
Sounds like you just have a bootloop from some old data being in place since it makes it to the animation.
Okay, so the option of flashing a recovery via ADB is very real but every time I try to flash TWRP I get an error message saying 'variable not supported'.
As for the boot menu option - I get the dead android logo when trying to boot to recovery.
I truly appreciate everyone's help here. If nothing else I'm learning plenty.

You must do a data wipe from recov then rsd from bootloader-fastboot.
Here is what I do. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44213644&postcount=5
