Well, usually when I boot my TMN 2.1 ROM, I see a TMN splash screen and then the regular Android boot animation with the glowing text.
However, from day before yesterday, this is not happening. The TMN splash appears and the screen goes blank. Then after some time the regular Android text animation appears and immediately loads the launcher/home.
Everything appears to be working fine. Even the time taken for boot looks normal but the screen suffers a blackout for some time during the boot.
Any idea how to fix it or why this happens?
In my lg gt540 reference thread in developers part there is a post about possible solutions when you brick your phone, check it out, hope it helps!
hi lavero, i just wanted to ask which app you use for customizing your phones visuality like launchers, widgets, etc. i couldnt able to pm you cause im at the school now and gives problem with pm'ing.
sorry for my english.
@lavero: The phone is not bricked. :/ It works fine. Only boot animation is missing.

Check if you don't get to see recovery too. If so then is bricked but not big deal just check my thread and do what is in there
Now if you manage to get in recovery try flashing boot.img again but always erase then flash. What was the last ROM you flashed?
Sent from my GT540 using XDA App
Am in the stock ROM with fastboot. The ROM used to work fine. I installed a few apps and ubuntu(from nexus one hacks)... The recovery works fine too..
The boot animation(Android logo) is stored in boot.img? Not in system.img? Looks like I will need a bit of tinkering to extract boot.img from the kdz.
Anyway, thanks. I could just try a clean flash. Restoring apps is the only pain since I use link2sd. I should've made a NAND before that day. :/

Hey Guys
My Nexus one hangs at the startup screen and I can't seem to get it to start. So far, I have tried going into the quick boot screen and clearing the factory settings (i.e hard reset) but it did not change anything. I am bit out of ideas.
Did you do a nandroid, if so revert back to it and proceed forward from there.
sorry, I didn't do an nandroid. Can I do that now?
alright, I installed a recovery image and can enter the menu listed here.
Cyanogen's recovery source based on Amon_RA's post.
I restore the setting just fine but then when I reboot the phone still hangs. Is there another step I am missing? Is just having the recovery tool not enough? How do I restore the original settings?
same problem here did you manage to fix it ?
Same problem here. I have tried everything but I cant make it past the " X " - looking splash screen. If its of any help, the splash screen is STATIC.
Thanks in advance.
it almost sounds like either a bad flash or a bad wipe, if you made a nandroid, try resotring it. If you have not rooted or loaded any roms then the problem may be hardware side.
think the mobo is acting funny, i sent mines in for repair due to t his issue, but unlocked bootloader makes me pay $194..... im trying to figure it out before i pay as a last resort!
So i tried to flash a rom like a normally do and i get stuck on the green screen.
I noticed now when flashing a rom is takes alot longer to flash then it usually did , i wiped pulled battery multiple times and still the same results. If i try to flash a froyo rom it will stay on the mytouch screen for a few secs and reboot to recovery mode on its own. every other rom just gets stuck and will not move. im limited to only recovery mode and Fastboot , are their any simple fixes that can be done and thanks in advance.

Have you tried fixing apk uids? I've also heard you can use the bootloader to do a more thorough wipe.
If I were in your situation I would apply sappimg to unroot and start over.

im fairly new so i only know how to flash roms . outside of that im pretty much clueless. I tried flashing a new radio & when it tells me to reboot to complete installation it says no more room or somthing like that. it does it really quick so i cant tell. Also how would i go about unrooting?
EDIT .. ok unrooted the phone and it seemed to have done the trick.

Glad you're still operational. Now you can retrace your steps and figure out where you went wrong. I also had to unroot and go back to Cupcake before I successfully completed my first rooting.
If you're just flashing ROMs, I would stay away from updating the radio unless the developer specifically says you should.
I don't know how I did it, but everyone else is trying to boot into Clockwork Recovery mode successfully...and the whole pull the battery mode doesn't work 100% of the time...buuuut...I CANT STOP!
I can't stop booting into Clockwork. Every time I turn my phone on, it boots into the Clockwork Recovery, without fault. I've rebooted almost 30 times now and every time its done the same thing. Once it reboots into recovery, it will allow me to reboot the phone and then it boots normally. I really want to fix it, its annoying. The phone still works without any issues, its just really annoying that I have to sit there and watch it boot up to get it to the actual phone.
I don't want to unroot and start over with it all because I've made so many small changes to the phone and made it my own.
Sooo, pleeeeeeeeeease anyone with any info or fixes; let me know!
Mine did that too so I flashed the SBF and started over from scratch. I am afraid to try the D2 Bootstrap again for that reason. For now I can live with it. Did you find a fix yet?
How does this work?
When your device boots up, there is a init.rc script in your boot image that runs various components found in /system. The Droid X recovery bootstrap mimics the "logwrapper" binary. The hijacker then looks for "/data/.recovery_mode", and if it finds it, it unmounts /system to prevent android from starting. It then starts up recovery instead.
That's from Koush's site. Have you tried to delete the .recover_mode file if it clears it up? If you do try may you please post back?
Worked for me! Thanks for that!
Apparently it only happens randomly to some people. My roommate has a Droid2 and his never did it....weird.

Glad it worked. It happened to me too and I just used the sbf file to restore everything. Did you use any mount adb commands before you had that problem?
To be honest I have no idea, I've had android phones for a while so I was just flying through the commands and don't remember what was typed
Unable to remove "ClockworkMod Recovery"
That's from Koush's site. Have you tried to delete the .recover_mode file if it clears it up? If you do try may you please post back?
So, I looked throughout my sd card, and have been unable to find any ".recover_mode" file.. I still get the ClockworkMod Recover screen EVERY time I reboot my device.. I have rooted and unrooted multiple times to try and figure out this problem, as well as searched through this website for answers.. I am not finding any.. HELP!?
Ultimately, I would like to just restore my phone to factory so I can pass it on to a friend..
Thanks in advance for everyone's help!

I don't knwo where to post this exactly so here it goes.
I installed revolution 2.09 on my rooted HTC HD without any problems.
Run perfectly. Then today I installed a ROM of a theme from this forum as well called media 1.3 with rom manager.
After the reboot my phone only shows a the text android with a slight moving glow over it. It does not repsond to anything any more. I removed the battery but the same thing is happening.
Did I brick it? What can I do?

im just downloading the rom for you now so i can extract the framework, if you pull your battery out, you can either plug in your charger while its off, this will bring up recovery, or while its off, hold vol down and press power, that will take you to bootloader, and just pick recovery from the list, now when in recovery, if you navigate to the mounts and storage menu, choose the option mount usb storage, you can now connect to a pc as a disk drive and copy stuff to your sd card
im having trouble uploading attachments to xda at the min dya want me to upload it to megaupload for you?
AndroHero,
Thank you for helping me out. I didn't know about the vol down press power option which allows you to acces the sd card and intall a new rom. I had the revolution rom 2.0.9 already. It's installing as we speak. Much thanks for the tips!
To early hooray. I choose the option with the revolution zip for a complete install. After the install I selected rebouut system now. Now it stays on the white HTC screen with the text HTC quitely brilliant. Flashing every 3 seconds or so....
What to do now?
Everything is resolved. revolution is up and running again. I had to un the fullwipe.zip and that did it!
THANKS a lot for all the tips....again

Did you do a full wipe before re-flashing your ROM? even if you did just repeat the process , full wipe /cache, /dalvik-cache, /system and then re-flash the rom fingers crossed it should work
Hi,

Could it be possible that you installed cwm 3005 and tried a restore with that. I had the same problem. Went back to cwm 2.5.x and then restore worked.

I think there will be a lot of scare because of this CWM 3x...
Same happened to me the other day, stupidly accecpted the update prompt from Rom Manager, did my backup and went to install Cyanogen 6... Got stuck at HTC logo next boot.
Thankfuly, had Leedroid 2.0 on the SD, too, and that one flashed properly
Thing is that when I try to downgrade the Recovery to 2.5x I get an error and really can't be bothered with ADB pushing stuff around, so using Cyanogen 7 for the time beeing
Anyhow, CWM 3.x is likely your problem, easy to fix ^^
Wanting to change my theme on the Samsung spica I had theexact problem on cyanogen mod. Had to redo the whole rooting and installing the Rom again to get to work.

yes, is some script...back to recovery 2.x
I have an EVO 4g that is stuck in an infinite boot loop. When it boots up it goes to the HTC EVO 4G white splash screen, goes black, and then goes back to the white splash screen over and over. I'm at my whit's end with this one. I have tried:
- RUUing it
-flashing different recoveries to it (Amonra and Smelkus)
If anyone has had a similar experience with theirs could they please point me in the right direction.
HBOOT 6.16.1002
Radio-2.15.00.07.28
S-OFF
It still loops if I go to recovery through the bootloader.
Thanks

Didn't mean to double post - I could not find my original post this morning for some reason.
You're S-OFF. You'll be fine.
Have you tried a different ROM other than a RUU? Like a recent stock or stock-ish ROM?
Also, now that you have a good recovery on there, use it to wipe data, cache, system, and boot. Don't erase all your pictures and music, but nuke everything else.
The symptoms you are describing happen to me all the time when I have not adequately wiped between flashing different ROMs . It could also be a bad download (always check md5's )
Sometimes flashing a ROM that is way too old for your radios or bootloader could cause this, but it sounds like you're pretty up to date.
Get a different ROM (such as Captain Throwback's 5.67 stock ROM) and try again.
After trying all the obvious stuff, then *maybe* we can talk about bad SD cards, corrupted partitions, whatever..

Go here and read everything, then format your sd card, make sure to back it up first, then install DT's a2sd and a stable rom, like Tommy's Classic or Miks 3.0.
Wait - you said it loops in recovery also?
That's not good.
Is this the same issue as the thread you started over in Q&A?
Now I'm not so sure there is an easy fix for this issue.
That radio is a little old and may be preventing your RUU from succeeding. Try updating?
After that, you might have to start looking at some kind of corrupt NV partition or something..

Something that helped me-
Recently recovered from an infinite boot loop myself- my condolences. Have you tried booting while the phone is plugged into the PC or an outlet?
I have hope
Im hoping to see that you are able to resolve this problem. Recently did a RUU update myself.
Turns out that everything updated minus the boot.
Which recieved a partition update. This was coming back from a bad kernel.
The phone is S-On sits on the 4 corner escalmations of death..
.. no further than the bootloader. which displays specs and ruu where the options should be.
Be interested to see if you find something. In the mean time Ill be hunting form info as well and if I find a possible resolve Ill try and throw it your way. :/ miss my evo...
Best of luck.
You can try one of my guides, it can help you get a recovery back. Just use the command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
