[Q] Compiling CWM for LG E455 - Optimus L3, L5, L7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to compile CWM (CM 10.2) for the LG E455 (MT6575 chipset). What is the correct way to set up the device tree? mkvendor.sh does not work with the boot.img from my phone.

Realized my mistake, changed question.

How do you unlock the boot loader on the device ?
I guess cwm without boot loader unlock is not of much help is it ?

No Recovery Image for the L5 II yet
We need to unlock the bootloader first.

Smilar problem
Hi!
I have the Lg optimus l5 II (E460) and i can't boot into recovery. I have tried ROM manager, and it started download, flashed the recovery and turned off. THEN, it showed the android logo which i will include in attachment.
I thought i had bricked the phone or something like that. but i removed the battery and started it again and it booted normally. I guess that it can't boot into recovery. Then, i tried unlocking bootloader and the same happened again. I have no idea what to do, because i want to go to recovery and install CyanogenMod.
I know that there isn't any CWM for lg l5 II, but i tried with CWM for lg l5, because they are smilar. Do i did wrong??
Do anyone has any idea why i can't boot into recovery?
btw, my phone is rooted with chinese tool and i tested it with root checker and it confirmed root.
(sorry for my bad english)

[Q] error loki-ifying the boot image

Hi Guys!
I've buy the LG G2 D802 this week!
I've the first problem, I've look for a decent answer, but I've not find it.
I hope you can help me.
- I'm using the Stock Firmware 4.2.2 (10c)
- I've do the root
- I've flashed thrue FreeGee the TWRP 2.6.3.3
- I've Rebooted the phone in Recovery
- I've do a Backup of all Partitions (also the EFS with flashify)
- I've Rebooted the phone
- All is working great.
- I've again rebooted in TWRP
- I've Flashed the ZIP file with TWRP 2.6.3.4
After flashing this recovery, the phone have give me this error:
Checking if loki-ifying is needed/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc. /by-name/boot needs lokifying
Failed to find function to patch.
Error loki-ifying the boot image.
- I've Rebooted the phone in Recovery, and It's installed correctly the new version 2.6.3.4
- I've Reooted the phone and all is working great.
Now the question is:
- Why it give me this error?
- Can I have in the future some problem trying to flash some roms?
- How can I resolve it?
- Can I sleep well XD XD XD
Thank you so much for your help!!!
I hope someone can help me.
Download flashify that should help you out.

I've downloaded, but how thats can help me?
You mean for the future flash?

I'm thinking...
Is it possible that give me this message because I've the International version of G2 (D802) and it's seems that have unlocked bootloader?
If it has the unlocked bootloader I've read that is not necessary do the loki patch.
This is the only thing that I can think about this error message.
I hope that someone can help me about this question
I don't believe that's the issue even my unlocked Verizon gives me that error when flashing zip files in recovery. It's just a way to bypass LG's security.

Have same error on d802 int 16gb. It install all. Is this normal? After installed Llama Sweet Kernel, use Philz Touch last version.

[IDEA] [UNTETHERED AOSP] An idea that might help us until BUMP tool is out

We all know that our G3s are have locked bootloaders..
And team codefire released Bump to unlock them(Big love and thanks to all devs)...
but we have to bump images to flash them via twrp...
Till then we all have to boot tethered (via fastboot) on an AOSP ROM..
But I have an idea(a stupid one I think..but worth sharing)...
Would it work if we flash the AOSP ROM..Go to twrp...backup the AOSP ROM... And restoring the backup as a booting method?
Would it work?

You would have backed up a ROM that needed to be booted tethered in the first place so you'd still have to boot it tethered even after a TWRP restore. The boot image will still need to be manually booted in fastboot or wait for someone to BUMP the image. It's right around the corner.
I agree with invisibleK though, wait for the BUMP'd version of this ROM.

[RECOVERY][APP][TWRP/CWM/PhilZ]Recovery Collection

After @Envious_Data and me discovered that there is no real collection for the most up-to-date recoveryimages, for both stock and AOSP based Roms we decided to create this thread in order to change this.
Recoverys:
CWM Recovery 6.0.5.1
PhilZ Touch Recovery 6.59.0 (CWM Version 6.0.5.1)
TWRP 2.8.3.0 (2.8.1.0 recommend as 2.8.3.0 is not starting on some Roms)
Installation
Download the recovery images in the Download section reboot your phone into fastboot mode and execute the command
Code:
fastboot flash recovery *name of the recoveryimage you downloaded*.img
in fastboot.
When you want to flash it from your phone, navigate into the folder where you downloaded the recoveryimage and execute the command:
Code:
dd if="*name of the recoveryimage you downloaded*.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/FOTAKernel
as root in Terminal Emulator.
If you are lazy you can also use my App, M5-Settings. It automatically downloads the most up-to-date recoveryimage to your externel SD Card and flashes the recoveryimage to your FOTAKernel Partition.
Download:
CWM Recovery
PhilZ Touch Recovery
TWRP
M5-Settings
Sources:
CWM Recovery
PhilZ Touch Recovery
TWRP (download currently linking to the reupload prebuilt 2.8.1.0 official recoveryimage, never builds will be compiled from source)
M5-Settings

Hi Both,
I want to get the M5Kernal and flash it on a CM12 that has cyanogenmod recovery
So which Recovery do you suggest and which version which will make this process an easy one.
I tried to flash TWRP (forgot the version) but it would show everything pixelated with horizontal lines making nothing readable nor functional.
Edit: I have flashed Philz, flashed M5KernelV2 and guess what, phone stuck at "Android is upgrading.. Starting apps" for the past 3 minutes.
I'll give it some time and update
Edit: So it wouldn't boot and I had to wipe it fully and tried again, all good.
Best of all, the recovery actually "sticks"
Regards
Hmm, you should probably mention that you need to unlock your bootloader first? unless I'm mistaken..

Not exactly
You cant use fastboot on xperias if the bootloader is locked
I dont think fotakernel/recovery is a part of the bootloader (likely hence why we cant boot right into recovery)
You do need a custom kernel to use recovery
But to install it i think is a different case, im not experianced all too much with locked bootloaders so this info is based off of a conversation between a bunch of devs
can I use this one on a ROOTED STOCK ROM in 4.4.2 and build .137?!

as the post above yours says, you need a custom Kernel to use a FOTAKernel Partition. I'd recommend Advanced Stock Kernel by AndroPlus or AndroPlusKernel
@Myself5 i tried instal twrp from your awesome app after an format and updated my device to lollipop stock and back to cm12 but anytime the device boot in cyanogenmod recovery its somthing with bootloader changed at lollipop?
Will any of the recoveries work on Locked Bootloader running Android 5.0.2?

Dafuq ?
When will there be a recovery for lollipop?
All recoverys are already compatible with Lollipop.
I thought the "fastboot flash recovery...." command is not valid on Sony's world as the recovery partition is combined in kernel? I always thought the kernel and the recovery must be united then flashed with "fastboot flash boot ....." command? Am I wrong?

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
the recovery partition isnt 100% independant so you need a kernel that supports fotakernel (recovery partition)
but they are separate, boot and recovery

As the post right above yours says, you need a kernel which supports loading Recoverys from FOTAKernel Partition (if you run stock, I'd recommend either advanced Stock Kernel or AndroPlus Kernel, both made by @AndroPlus), which both need a unlocked bootloader in order to work, so the answer to your question is no, it does NOT work on locked bootloader, for LB you might want to try XZDualRecovery.

You are kidding me, right? READ THE OP!
I did and i didnt find nothing. As far as i know we need to run a bat file to fix it if you are running stock xperia lp. You can find a link in their thread.

Recovery doesn't stick
So I downloaded your awsome m5-settings app and tryed to installed twrp recovery on my z2, running cm12. Booted into recovery, and twrp came up (instead of cm recovery). But it doesn't "stick". I can't press any buttons, and after approximately 10-20 seconds the phone reboot normal again. I've tried to use cwm also, but twrp still shows up and doesn't work. Last resort I tried philz, but still got twrp.
I also tried to run fotacwm img, thru terminal emulator. But nothing works.
All I want is a custom recovery that works, since CM 12 recovery is useless!!
Btw. I'm a noob, so please be gentle against me
Ps: I added a screenshot of the phone details. It's in Norwegian, but I guess you understand (sorry)
