[Q] error loki-ifying the boot image - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys!
I've buy the LG G2 D802 this week!
I've the first problem, I've look for a decent answer, but I've not find it.
I hope you can help me.
- I'm using the Stock Firmware 4.2.2 (10c)
- I've do the root
- I've flashed thrue FreeGee the TWRP 2.6.3.3
- I've Rebooted the phone in Recovery
- I've do a Backup of all Partitions (also the EFS with flashify)
- I've Rebooted the phone
- All is working great.
- I've again rebooted in TWRP
- I've Flashed the ZIP file with TWRP 2.6.3.4
After flashing this recovery, the phone have give me this error:
Checking if loki-ifying is needed/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc. /by-name/boot needs lokifying
Failed to find function to patch.
Error loki-ifying the boot image.
- I've Rebooted the phone in Recovery, and It's installed correctly the new version 2.6.3.4
- I've Reooted the phone and all is working great.
Now the question is:
- Why it give me this error?
- Can I have in the future some problem trying to flash some roms?
- How can I resolve it?
- Can I sleep well XD XD XD
Thank you so much for your help!!!
I hope someone can help me.

Download flashify that should help you out.

You mean for the future flash?

I'm thinking...
Is it possible that give me this message because I've the International version of G2 (D802) and it's seems that have unlocked bootloader?
If it has the unlocked bootloader I've read that is not necessary do the loki patch.
This is the only thing that I can think about this error message.
I hope that someone can help me about this question

I don't believe that's the issue even my unlocked Verizon gives me that error when flashing zip files in recovery. It's just a way to bypass LG's security.

Have same error on d802 int 16gb. It install all. Is this normal? After installed Llama Sweet Kernel, use Philz Touch last version.

[Q] VS980 Refuses to Install CM11 via TWRP

Hi Everyone,
I have tried and tried, but my phone refuses to let CM11 install. I had been running CM10.2, but I had all sorts of issues, so I decided to go all the way back to stock, re-root, get twrp again. It still won't install CM11. TWRP just says "failed" The log in twrp says:
set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
E:Error executing updater binary in zip "/sdcard/Roms/cm-11-xyzblah.zip
Error flashing zipo '/sdcard/Roms/cm-11-xyzblah.zip'
Updating partition details
Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Bob
I like TWRP for the OTG support.
You need to update the latest version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2587296
(flash from current recovery).
Try flashing Philz. Its based on CWM but much better. (Includes OTG)
Plus you can still use any backup you made in TWRP

Hmm, okay, thanks. I see the .lok files on there, but I don't know what to do with them. I did have an older version of TWRP. I went through the process they detail in that thread with the old one, but I just flashed the newest version from twrp. Do I need to go back through and do something with loki? This part gets me very confused.

[Help] Recovery is gone after update

Hi folks, I seek the advice of any one who could help me with issue. To give you a bit of background information, I have a D802 version which is rooted with CloudyStock 1.1, android 4.4.2 KK.
Yesterday I tried to update the version of Philz recovery that I had which has never been a problem before. I downloaded the latest version from the dedicated page here and went into the recovery to install the zip.
Whilst the zip was extracted without issue there was an error regarding "lokifying" the boot loader. I turned the phone off and tried to get in the recovery again but this time I had the error "secure booting: boot certification verify".
I never had any problem before, I don't know why the latest version of the recovery would create more problem that the old one.
The thing is that the phone works fine, it boots and runs without issue, I just can't get into recovery mode. Also the download mode works.
I'm sure they must be a way to get the recovery back. I tried to flash CMW with Rom Manager without success.
If anyone knows, I would appreciate the help greatly.
Cheers
considering kitkat has no root yet, getting a recovery on it is going to be difficult.
you will need a via zip flashable distro of kitkat. Which if you search you can make yourself. It was on xda portal some time ago.
That way I think root\recovery is maintained.

Thank you for your answer Bachera. I am not sure I understand what you mean by "via zip flashable distro of kitkat."
Plus my kitkat version of android is rooted, why would you think kitkat has no root yet?

I encountered something similar on my phone. However, i was on 4.2.2 but this worked for me. Give it a shot, it might work for you too

Good luck
Try Flashify from the Play store to flash a working recovery for your phone. I had the same issue with philz latest version. I had to use an older version of philz to get it to work on my phone.

Yeah I misread, I thought you went to a official kitkat. Only way to get root on kitkat is if lucky its maintained with a ota update. or a special made kitkat, thats what I mean with special distribution (distro) one via recovery flashable.
kitkat rooting directly at the moment of writing is not possible due to lg bootloader.

Thank you all for the help and suggestions. I tried flashify and I did not work.
However freegee worked very well and managed to go back to CMW.
All functional now!
Thanks

[Q] Help with nandroid !

Hey guys, I'm a user of the lgg2 d802 ver. and I have been facing problem backing up my phone on twrp so that I can update my ROM. Currently using twrp 2.6(i think).
The twrp error states that it cannot locate my storage device. Do you think its a problem with the rom? Cm11 nightly or do you think its twrp?
Appreciate what you guys do. Thanks for the help!
Try downloading 2.7.1.0 for d802 --this one is with thermal protection by dr87
flash it - then reboot to recovery again.
then tick --- enable compression and back it up.
Heyo thanks it worked!

i would suggest to redownload the zip file and try again. maybe the zip is corrupted or something. try downloading from pc, i used to have corrupted zips sometimes when i was downloading big zip from nexus 4.
now that i saw the picture again the problem probably is that the zip you downloaded has a problem with the updater script. every zip has a script so the recovery knows what to do. try another rom or check if the rom version ytou downloaded is for nexus 4 and not for another phone
i don´t understand...
i try 2 diferent roms, and they are both for nexus 4...
i try pass the roms by usb cable
and try to download them in the phonefor both i ahve the same errors
any help??

Lose the too kit and if your rooted flash the 2.8.1.0 image file in flashify. You can get it from the play store. You can get the image from here http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/mako

same problem

Cannot enter recovery

Hi everybody.
Today I tried to update my TWRP to version 2.8.5.0 via Flashify (which worked good in the past). But today after rebooting the device I get the error "Secure Booting Error! Cause: boot certification verify" and then the screen goes black. From here i cant do anything but holding down power to boot regularly without any problems. I tried to flash back to 2.8.4.0, but the same error occurs. Any ideas? Should I try Autorec?
I'm on CM12, btw...
Thanks...

Did you flashed the bumped one? If yes, you must use the KK bootloader. This error is because you probably use a JB bootloader.
I don't know if this was the bumped one. I downloaded this one via Flashify. And sorry, I don't know what do you mean by: use the KK bootloader. I'm not very experienced to be honest...
Sent from my LG G2 (d802) with Tapatalk
When I google it, it seems that AutoRec installs the KK bootloader, right?
Sent from my LG G2 (d802) with Tapatalk
Wrong. Autorec downgrades your kk bootloader to the jb one.
