I'm having the same problem too.. Have not tried to fix it.. But ever since i found out that it is getting lose, i try to use my usb/charging port as minimal as i can.. Now i'm using a charging dock to charge my phone.. May not fix the problem, but it sure helps not to worsen the condition of the flap..

the same problem here...

2 words: charging dock. So, not a lost cause even without a repair.
There is another thread floating around about this - search is your friend.

i tried using search but could not come across a similar thread if u can find the link that would be appreciated
The OP in this thread had the same issue as you. Check the responses.
The pogo pins are the 4 little gold circles you see in the bezel on the lower left hand side (w/ the device held in portrait orientation.)
Cheers

user gone mad: USB got off

Hey guys!
Today i got my hands on curious thing. My friend was drunk "as he stated" and somehow he was able to tore off USB port from his beloved HD2. Crazy right, I didnt even believe it was possible as I am an owner of HD2 myself. So Im thinking about maybe try to solder it back together (if possible).
There are some pictures as attachements so you can take a look. The casing isnt damaged at all, its like that USB just fell of.

Connector seems burnt, just curious what you'll find inside... If the mainboard look like this that's bad news.
A new connector is cheap but there are different shapes of the inner part so it is possible that it won't fit, check before you begin to solder.
Looks badly burnt to me.
I suspect mainboard no good for repair but worth checking first.
Quite easy to pick up an EU version HD2 for around 40USD (faulty handset) on eBay if can spend a bit of time looking/bidding and in good shape except digitizer, then simply donor best parts to complete one working rebuild.
Hey thanks for replyin! Well I opened it up and it seems motherboard isnt damaged. Well, as far as I can tell . Phone is working with charged battery without problems, so I think its worth a shot. Take a look and tell me what do you think

I had a hd2 in a similar condition and attempted this. I failed and it killed the mboard straight away i would only attempt if you really really need too ;/

hey buddy, thanks I will be really carefull. I cant really tell you what good is a phone like this without USB connection (and dont forget charging), so this is "operation: must do". Sorry for your HD2 though.
You can pick up a new usb socket from eBay/amazon etc.
It is quite a tricky bit of small soldering & can be very hard if contact points on board are broken below board.
Worth a try but not easy ... If you do succeed, once tested working ok use PU40 adhesive sealant to pack around sides & back of socket as will insulate & help secure socket hopefully helping reduce chance of fracturing joins or dislocating completely again.
Yup! USB is already on the way. Thanks for tips buddy, I will check back here when its done , it should take few days untill new USB is here.

There are some things that you should try if its not a Hardware problem
1.flash the newest bootloader even if you have the latest one
2.change some kernels (M-kernel have the best screen driver)
3.changing rom might help
and remember to re flash the bootloader it sometimes fix the hardware problems that couldnt be fixed by changing rom and kernel
Take back off. The digitizer is a dual ribbon cable under the black tape. Middle right of the battery. You can flip the little Grey tab to pull these out. Clean with alcohol and replace. Other than this or hardware reset I don't know.

Phone Dead?

I recently dropped my phone into the toilet water.... i quickly removed it and i volume down and power to force it off.. after 2 days i checked the phone again.. it didnt on but i plug the charger.. there was a red led only.. i tried many unbrick methods but i dont think my phone is bricked. I opened up the insides of the phone and all the water has gone and theres no water stuck or anything.. dry
but my nexus 4 is still on red led when plugged in.. I think its battery problem?
I think it's not messed up completely. You should take it to service center ASAP instead of guessing what happened to it.

I think they'll check it for you, so don't worry.
You probably just need a new battery. Everything else should be working fine. Best thing to do is take everything apart and clean them with isopropyl alcohol, then let them dry, buy a new battery and you ll have a working phone again. Sometimes some other components might have problems, like camera or mic/speakers, which are all cheap as spare parts. Plenty of videos on YouTube on how to fix water damage.

Its usually just the battery dying. I dropped my HTC desire in the toilet once, just the battery had to be replaced after drying it all.

You tried to run the phone on a different charger? For me, the incompetent OC it helped.
