Okay, just a warning. This firmware is a battery destroyer. Within 11 minutes my battery has dropped 10% and I have no running background processes and I'm not doing anything with the unit. Just checking the screen once in a while. I've actually watched it go down 1% in a minute.
I'm telling you...if you have not installed this update...don't do it!
Too late for me.. already updated. I'll keep an eye on my battery level and let you know if I notice it go down faster than normal.
I just unpluged from the charger. It is at 100%.. I'll let you know where it is in 1 hour. I'll turn on display to stay on to simulate being used and then let it set.
Edit: Okay after 10 minutes.. still at 100% screen always on.. that was with whatever programs load into the background after boot.. I haven't killed any apps. I now have launched my Pykl3 Radar app to increase cpu from 300Mhz to 1000Mhz.. it refreshes the radar screen every 5 minutes.. we'll see how the battery does with the processor working harder.
I'm not noticing any difference really... Same battery life as before(I think, I haven't done any formal battery life tests or anything)
Seems fine for me too, but I'll go ahead and do this test.
Edit1: After 30 minutes it is still at 100%.
Edit2: After 35 minutes it has gone down to 99%
Edit3: After 60 minutes it has gone down to 96%
Edit4: After 90 minutes it has gone down to 90%
Edit5: After 2 hours it has gone down to 82%
Edit6: After 2.5 hours it has gone down to 76%
Edit7: After 3 hours it has gone down to 67%
Edit8: After 3.5 hour it has gone down to 61%
Edit9: After 4 hours it has gone down to 55%
Edit10: After 4.5 hours it has gone down to 50%
Edit11: After 5 hours it has gone down to 46%
Edit12: After 5.5 hours it has gone down to 44%
Edit13: After 6 hours it has gone down to 40%
So this averages out to a discharge rate of 10%/hr
This test was done with the screen fully on the whole time. Mostly running at full 1000Mhz and with wifi on and downloading data every 5 or so minutes.
If I let it run down to 20%, I would probably get about 8 hours which is within the specs of the Archos 101.
I was pushing the device harder than average and I believe in normal use I could get more than 10 hours.
So I conclude the battery problems aren't related to the latest firmware release 2.1.04.
Yeah, looks like you might just have a problem with your device. Have you tried reformatting and reinstall?
After about 4 hours of usage (mostly Wordfeud) with Softlocker active (keeps device awake when screen is off) I still have 82%.

Saying that your battery is depleting at 1% per minute is useless information given that many electronic devices can sometimes drop by 20% in 1 second
Please only evalute battery usage by observing how much time it takes to fully discharge.
Please check battery history with the android system tool and also more detailed info accesible with this widget: http://www.appbrain.com/app/quick-battery/com.bwx.qs.battery
You can also take a look at CPU usage with http://www.appbrain.com/app/os-monitor/com.eolwral.osmonitor
Yesterday I updated to 2.1.4 and really have not noticed any battery drainage. No issue from my side.
Updating last night on Archos 70 8GB, after fully charged all night and playing net for 20 minutes continuously, battery drops to 99%. No sign of drainage too.
don't see any issue on battery drainage on my Archos 70IT either =)
It is interesting, but in this thread I appear to be the odd freak out and no one is having any issue except me...yet in the other 2.1.4 thread, a lot of people are experiencing this battery problem...not sure why that is, but the problem is there and it is real even if it is hit or miss on people experiencing it.
Yep, it's real. I put in a service ticket. I wiped and reloaded my a70 today, but it was still drawing over 800 ma listening to Pandora. I only had about 30% left on the battery, and I wanted to completely discharge it. It's stone dead and on the charge right now. I'll find out early if it helped. 3am start tomorrow. Goodnight.
(first post ) I just installed firmware 2.1.4 yesterday, and haven't noticed any difference in battery life. Although, I have noticed that 3d games obliterate my battery life now, where they just ate it before.
Wiped, reloaded, completely discharged, and charged over night. Down 20% the first hour.

Mine is still around 10% drop every hour I have wifi on for net surfing. Mine just upgraded from 2.1.2, just for information.
don't see any issue on battery drainage on my Archos 101 IT either
One thing I am noticing is that is seems more sensitive to cranking up the processor to somewhere between 600Mhz and 1Ghz at various times. Before it wasn't as sensitive and often would stay in the 300-600 range for me. This change may be why people have noticed "increased performance/less lag?"
That might be part of the drain issue or something else.
I think the point is that it is hit or miss out there. Some people get the glitch and some don't. Regardless, Archos needs to address the problem.
Ok, now this is interesting. Just to try something different, I reformatted my tablet this time and installed 2.1.3, then restored everything with Titanium. I seemed to be holding up much better. After an hour it had barely dropped. To put it to the test I drove home from work with bt gps and google maps via tether. All tolled, in 2 hours it dropped about 10%. I thought I had it fixed. Then I realized I hadn't rebooted after restoring with Titanium, so it was still rooted. I rebooted it and the wheels came off. It dropped over 10% in about 20 minutes. I ran the root app again and it leveled right off. It's down to 10% now so I have to charge it before I can experiment more, but maybe someone else can try and see if they see the same thing.
Maybe root has something to do with it.. I've never rooted and don't have a problem.. I wonder if the only people having problems are the ones that rooted.. although it sounds backwards in your case.

I was wondering the same thing. It also seems to have to do with wifi, because with it off it draws almost nothing. The exploit has something to do with the wifi, so who knows.
My Huawei has a horrible battery life. I'm using stock rom (rooted of course) and the battery drains really fast, like 5-10% an hour even in sleep mode. I have used a battery calibration app recommended by someone here in xda, but I don't think it made any difference. My last Android phone used around 1% an hour, even with data and sync on, but with pretty much the same settings, I can hardly make it through the day with my Huawei.
So, what to do? I don't need the battery to last for days, but having to recharge twice a day at worst is just too much.
My battery drops around 7-10% overnight.
Probably a defective cell?
mine after i installed custom rom (b160) and a battery calibartion in flight mode during my sleep after 7 hours that passed and woke up it was 1% dropped and now 7 almost hours afterwards in normal mode it has dropped 7% with very light use of course...
i want to say just that with gsm active it drained 5% more than in flight mode...
so something must be going wrong , like you don't have a good signal and it uses much power to keep your connection alive and have better signal....
i must say that i have a profile with setcpu when the screen is off with min 122 and max 460...
and just for the record i think that with custom rom also mine was dropping more...
i don't know why although...

Noticed this myself. i use spotify alot on the phone, walking, bicycling, at the gym. and it drains a whole lot of power even in offline mode. but if i set it in flight mode the phone last for hours and hours without even dropping 5-10% of power. but when gsm or data traffic is on the battery life just drains out so quickly! so it is definitly something serously wrong in this rom. Im hoping gingerbread is coming soon to this phone, so maybe all these small issues has been fixed.
I've found highly variable battery life. Sometimes it's awful, almost 50% overnight when it's sleeping on my nightstand, other times it's much better and only drops 7-10% under those conditions.
One thing is Google Maps, even when not in use it seems to suck battery like crazy if it's loaded (and it has a habit of getting loaded even when you don't run it or any apps that use it). There's a long thread on this in the Google support forums, but no sign of a fix from Google yet.
I've found doing a 'force stop' on Maps if it's running often helps, another thing is to reboot the phone after you charge it, that seems to fix it for several days sometimes, but then it starts sucking juice again for no apparent reason, so I tend to reboot it after each recharge. There can also be other apps that due to bugs can suck battery, for a while there app killer did this but the author put a fix out pretty quick and it shouldn't be an issue now.
Just noticed that there's an Android update from Huawei now available for download, maybe that'll fix some of the irritations and help with battery life; I'm off to install it!
where can you find that update? through phone's settings->check for update (in my case it says i got the latest version) or online?
My phone has been on for nearly 48 hours.. charging it right now. I played, connected to wifi, browsed the net, facebook, gmail etc.. and I really played hard on it for a few hours.
30mins ago it switched off, dead battery.. I'm quite pleased with the battery life

Exactly the same problem here. I formatted now both the internal and external SD card, let's see if that helps.
edit: No it doesn't. The problem seems to be that my phone doesn't sleep properly. I charged it to full, then turned the screen off for one hour. App called Spart Parts shows that since last unplugged, time spent without sleeping is 36m.
it took mine 2 weeks to get to the full battery life. now i get 36-48 hours from it.

im thinking of buying this phone is it available in India ? also can this device be rooted n what about the custom roms ? are they available as there is nthng on XDA :'( . And what about its battery life even being 1500mah is it so awful ?

Now after factory reset it seems that this is fixed. Over night with Wi-Fi and all sync's enabled, it took about 20% which is quite ok.

The problem is back... For some unknown reason the phone doesn't go to sleep and starts to use more battery.
Battery History:
Other usage, since last unplugged:
Running (100%)
Screen on (3,2%)
Partial wake usage, since last unplugged:
Android System: Total time: 13s
Dialer: Total time: 0s
Maps: Total time: 0s
It seems that reboot helps with this every time. After reboot, running-% is 32.9 when screen on is 6.5%. It would still be interesting and helpful to know what causes this.

I get most of the time also. But after charging, at one point (after some time) for some reason the time spent without sleeping goes to 99%. The problem is, that the partial wake usage doesn't show that something is wrong. Usually restart helps, but sometimes it can be already late, because 100% running has already taken quite much of the battery.
Also, when the time spent without sleeping is 99% or 100%, the CPU is still NOT in heavy use. So something just prevents the phone to go to sleep mode, and it seems that it is not the CPU that causes it.

I got it through the phone, it was the 2.2.1 B136SP02 update. Not online at Huawei website. It doesn't seem to have improved battery life alas (or the frequent WiFi dropouts I've had since new, particularly while downloading app updates). Main feature of the update is WiFi tethering/hotspot support, at last...
What seems to have worked for me after a couple of weeks++ of REALLY crappy battery life is a battery stats wipe.
FullCharge while the phone was off. First boot in recovery, battery wipe and then i just let it run close to dry before the first charge (almost 48 hours of medium use). Note here that i am now using the charger that came with the phone because i noticed that my generic usb one had an output of 0.7A instead of the full 1A of the factory charger.
Another point arose however. Does anyone else have stability issues when battery drops below 25%? I am talking about some serious crash/reboot/lag/noradio issues.
Some of you may have noticed that battery life on this phone can be both unbelievable and mediocre. I've been trying to figure out what can trigger and cause mediocre performance and I'm at a loss. The problem is, there doesn't appear to be a smoking gun. No obvious wake locks. No rogue Apps. I have Carrier IQ disabled by System Tuner. Google Now is off. What I'm running right now is pretty bare bones. And the kicker is my phone is sleeping, as can be seen in the shots below. The vast majority of the time my phone was off the charger it was in deep sleep mode.
I noticed my phone in excessive drain mode Saturday so I let it run over night and into the next day, so that BBS and GSam could pick up as much data as possible, including sitting idle overnight and very little use throughout yesterday.
Here are some shots to show the story. The graph, which is definitely steeper than when idle drain is normal, which resulted in idle drain of about 6% per hour. Also as can be seen in these shots, there is not a wakelock problem. Deep sleep shows as 12 hours 38 minutes, Awake time of 1 hour 8 minutes, and screen on time of 1 hour. So, my phone was only "awake" for 8 minutes when the screen was off out of almost 14 hours according to BBS.
I did notice and oddity here though. BBS listed the unplugged status as 13 hours 47 minutes, while the phone's battery meter listed it at 12 hours 13 minutes.
Attached are the shots I took at 19%, as well as a final battery meter shot after charging the phone to full while powered off and restarting, where it's been purring like a kitten in deep sleep.
Part of me is beginning to believe there is a bug with the battery gauge. What do you guys think is going on?
Try clearing data for google play services, google services framework and playsore than reboot and check if things changed.
And i would recommend uninstall the updates related to those apps and let them update itself again.

Done. Although I won't know if any attempts to resolve the issue have worked until the idle drain triggers again (or doesn't).
Thanks for the advice.
Well unfortunately that didn't solve the issue. The heavy deep sleep drain again triggered after a bit over one full day. I charged to full last night and let sit over night where it drained 6% per hour with no obvious culprit. Anyone else have any suggestions?
It seem that your signal is week, did you get stable signal and have you tried airplane mode, to find out how much battery drain in this mode?
Also, did you disable LG MLT? This is a massive app from LG, can consumed about 150 MB RAM.
This might sound boneheaded, but what about just resetting the phone. Maybe some system app is causing some type of memory leak and thus draining your battery. Also disable wifi when you're not using it.
I don't think it's signal related. I get an excellent signal at work and the idle drain still occurs. Also, it happens whether wifi is on or not. I have not disabled MLT, as I'm not concerned about RAM, just running processes. Rebooting the phone eliminates the issue, so something is obviously getting hung. The really odd thing is I was draining 6%/hr overnight, all while the phone was in deep sleep, yet my top battery consuming category was the screen at 35%, with just 1 hour of screen on time of 10 hours off the charger. If something was cranking in Android System that caused 40% drain overnight I would have expected Android System to be higher. It doesn't make any sense.
I may just have to factory reset.
My battery's been great until couple of days ago when I turned on GPS and Voice Notification (for speaking out names when phone call/message comes in). After I noticed the abnormal battery drain, I turned off those two options, because that's the only thing I did differently before noticing the drain. However, that didn't help... yet. I needed to do a reboot and battery's been fine again. Not sure if those two were the actual culprit, or just coincidence.
Have you changed any settings right before you noticed the drain? Just a thought.
had the same issue., wakelock detector, BBS, GSAM nothing could show what was eating the battery. i use mobile browsing a lot and almost 8/10 times this battery drain was happening with chrome , chrome beta and firefox browsers.
Only thing thats helping me is the Greenify app . Greenified the chrome and firefox and almost all the cloud apps and the battery is now much much better.
still ...IT IS AN PROBLEM to be found..
To provide a bit more info on this, attached is a pic of my reboot a couple hours ago (marked by the thin white vertical line). The change in the slope of the drainage line is drastic. Also, notice the small hump after the reboot? The line actually increased a bit, fell, then flat lined. More and more I'm beginning to suspect the battery gauge, but I just don't know.

I have the same situation after charging. Even in"deep sleep" it would chew through the battery. Now I just reboot the phone after charging and it plays nice. The gerbil on the wheel seems to take a break and rest.
To all who have excessive battery drain, did you charge your phone while it is on or off?
Some where in this forum (if not mistaken), I read that there is a bug while charging G2 when it is on. You should reboot your phone after it is fully charged otherwise you will experience excessive battery drain.
Mine always charged it while it is off and never had problem with battery life.
i got the same issue which is very annoying, have over 85% deep sleep, no wake lock, battery draining like crazy, and it happens randomly. I wonder if factory rest fixes the problem, or hardware issue
i have done a bit testing for this random drain,
with mobile signal on ==> huge drain
without mobile signal on and only phone signal ==> huge drain
airplane mode ==> no drain
so i believe it is a bug within the phone software, actually sometimes the random drain started after a phone call
I've been getting the drain too in the past few days. Last time i could fix it by factory resetting, but obviously I don't feel like doing that once per month. What I do know is that flashing another stock ROM (kdz) without factory resetting doesn't fix it. However last night I figured i'd try disabling WiFi (kept it on during the night until now) and I only drained 1% in 5 hours, down from 3% per hour. Perhaps this bug is related to WiFi.
Have you disabled LG MLT? It acts like CIQ for internal LG purposes. I have personally seen it cause mass wakelock in unexplained situations. If I leave everything on overnight under 95% battery, I will get around a 3% drain in about 7 hours. Pretty normal. The first 5% on these batteries seem magical. At 100%, with everything on, I wake to 100%.
Yup, frozen in TiBu. Will be factory resetting however when I get home as GSAM grabbed my attention. Never were system things so high up the list when i had no drain.

I been struggling with this since I got the phone (almost a month now). I've done all the usual:
Removing bloat
Disabled CIQ
Disabled Google Now, Location, GPS
and I have the same apps as my Nexus 5
Just last night I realized that this battery drain only happens after taking it off the charger. This got me to add the word "charging" in my search and I found this thread.
Is this hardware related, or would a custom ROM resolve this? I have the AT&T version.
Ok and which stock rom does not do that?

Guys could you write which stock rom does this wakelocks for you so we could eliminate corrupt firmwares?
For example I experience these wakelocks on latest F international version.
My battery life had previously been fine. We had that last security update from AT&T and suddenly, my device is awake almost 100% of the time. Android OS is always at the top of my stats and awake time shows at 99%. I used the light version of Wakelock Detector (which doesn't require root) and it's not really showing anything, but I deleted all apps showing the most wakelocks anyway and I'm still at 99% wake time. I even took out my SD card to test that and it hasn't changed anything. I also disabled GPS to test and "awake time" still stayed at max.
I'm on the verge of wiping it, but I have already done that once to resolve other issues and I know there has to be a cause to all of this. Is anyone else experiencing this since the last update? Anything I haven't tried that someone recommends? I have not installed any new apps or anything.
One thing to note is that my drain is only around 1%/hr at idle, but I'm pretty sure the phone still shouldn't be awake almost 100% of the time.
1%/hr drain while idle means 4 days of standby i think you're fine

That doesn't change the fact that the phone is awake over 99% of the time. After a wipe, it's no longer going that and my idle drain is less. So, something was clearly wrong.

Yeah, you're right if the behavior is different after resetting the phone. I was wondering if maybe Wakelock Detector might see certain features of the QC820 like AOD as applying a wakelock.
I'm on full stock . My last boot time is around 52 hours for some reason gsam battery monitor has my phone as held awake for almost 8 hours of which 3 were sot and around 2 was doze . I'm using greenify with aggressive doze and a lot of apps greenified . Is this normal ? There is no app wasting battery in battery tab . Only thing not normal is a media server process which run for 27 minutes total
Your device is being held awake nearly 100% of the time (look at Held Awake and then add Screen On time).
This is not normal... In my bone stock device Held Awake time is typically 1 hour for every 5-6 hours of screen off time.
I would suggest installing Wakelock Detector and seeing what is actually keeping the device from sleeping.

The radio phone in my Style consume around the 17% of the battery, I have seen that you have lower %

This varies a lot based on signal strength... the SD808 is pretty battery friendly with great signal, but poor signal will drain the battery quite quickly, nothing you can really do about it.

Something is requesting your network (rough) location via Wifi and Mobile Network, and Google Services is trying to do it but can't because you are in airplane mode... It's a misbehaving app that doesn't acknowledge airplane mode, very hard to find when it's so intermittent.
What would an average deep sleep time be over night?

From the time you go to sleep til you wake up, assuming at least 5 hours or more, I would think no less than 95%. I typically hit around 97-99% depending if I wake up and check the time or snooze my alarm a few times. But I use amplify and Greenify along with various other tweaks (I.e, no WiFi, mobile data, or auto sync) maximize battery.
This is what I got... But I am stock and not rooted.
