Touchless Control - Moto X General

So I have been wondering why Moto would put this touchless control in the X, and what's so different from the generic 4.4 activator like the Nexus. It seemed worse that many Easter eggs like "ok, Jarvus" are taken away and the black screen blocks the homescreen, etc.
Now here is the catch.
My girlfriend just got her X as well. And just for fun, we put the two phones side by side and each said the command "Ok Google Now." But only my phone picks up the command when it's me saying it, and hers her. So I guess the training period locks in the pitch of the owner's voice, and prevents accidental activation.
I was very impressed w/ Moto's attention to details. They really outdid themselves this time.

Faded Spot On Screen?

So I've noticed recently that my screen on my CPO X has gotten a faded spot about an inch from the bottom of the screen. It hasn't reduced functionality or anything, it just... urks me, lol. Anyone else have this, and do you think Verizon might help me out? It makes the device significantly less attractive.
D: Also, only visible when the screen is on on a white page, but still.
Haven't over heated the phone once nor dropped it, running SetCPU at 1000 max 600 min.
Running on rooted stock, also.
Sent from my DROIDx
had this on my original and refurbished droid x, quite strange
Think I could get a new one if I ***** about problems with responsive problems? XD
I have this same problem in the same spot. Its really annoying lol

Sorry, typo. Anywho, yeah, very annoying. It's only my second Android device, too- I came from the HTC Eris. Probably no way I can fix it, either.

You might as well talk to Verizon about it. There's nothing you could lose from that

The screen works as it should, theres just a bright spot on white or light colored backgrounds.
I just traded my Incredible for the X. I really like this phone but this spot is driving me crazy! I wish I could fix it somehow.

I may have just found your post on DroidForums about the same issue.
Did you ever contact Motorola, by chance?

Same exact problem here. I talked to my guy at verizon and he saidd it for sure falls under a warranty replacement for a refurb phone. But it doesn't bug me enough yet to make me do that. I'll wait until my one year is almost up then replace it.

Yes I did but I don't have the receipt, the guy I traded with said he will take care of it. Hopefully they'll replace it for me. Its not a huge deal but it gets on my nerves.

I have what appears to be a dead pixel at the top right of my screen. It's a CPO and I received it this way. It has bugged the **** outta me since I got it. It was a replacement phone because the first one wouldn't stop rebooting. I think I'll call and complain as well, but I don't want my third X to have some other problem lol.

Try Jscreenfix, its free on the market, let it run for like 30 minutes... It fixed a dead pixel on my Droid 1.

Will try, but I don't think its a dead pixel. It just looks like a half inch wide faded spot.

About that offset Wi-Fi icon...

I don't mind now that I see the purpose of separation. I guess...
What would that purpose be? So they can have the AT&T logo in the bar as well?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
on mine (Verizon version), there isn't really a gap, it just leaves the 4G icon, but the data arrows aren't
I think I see what OP is talking about, it separates the toggleable/changeable items from those that are permanent.
I don't know if that was intended or this is a bug and that is just coincidence, to me it almost looks like instead of hiding the 4g icon or w/e ATT just put a black square there so when on wifi the space for that 4g icon is still reserved.

If it was meant to be like that, then I see no reason why it would happen only when on wifi.

Well, that's just not true. Look at all the changes with the Xbox one. People were pissed and they made major changes.
The only way this is inevitable is if people take the attitude that there is no way to change it.

Wait, what? So I'm supposed to "not care" about it? I mean... I can live with it, and I'm certainly not returning my phone because of it... but I'd definitely rather not have it there. It's annoying. It's almost (highlight on "almost") like the virtual version of getting a stained device, would you not care about a stain ?
I too think it's the 4G icon becoming all black. I don't like it either.
Were lucky we can remove, adjust, flash and customize our phones , when I had my first cell phone back in 93 customizing it hahahahaha, not even in the same ball park, I had a better chance of flying to the moon. Yes we had carrier logos blastered all over our phones. If you don't like it take the frigging phone back and buy an iphone
Xbox one, well look at it at Microsoft's view point. Windows 8 is a total bust! The only item left that makes the big bucks is the Xbox, Xbox live , at this point if they planned on releasing the Xbox one with all the original requirements, people would flocked over to the ps4, leaving Microsoft as the new IBM, just my opinion

if you look back, my comment that started this was... "remember that one guy who wouldn't buy the phone simply because it said ATT in the top bar". you can care about it all you want, but are you saying that you care so much that you wouldn't buy the phone?

right. I was referencing at the "feeling" of it, not to any specific comment. that's why I didn't quote anyone. but if you ask me, then no, I would not care so much that I wouldn't buy the phone. As a matter of fact, I did not care so much. I knew about it before I got the MotoMaker card at the AT&T store.
I would have probable had second thoughts, had I known about the camera, though... but I think I would have still bought it.

Activate Touch Less Control with a Recording of your Voice!

So I thought this was pretty interesting and wanted to share it with you guys.
You can use a recording of your voice ("ok google now") to activate it. After that the voice does not matter. Theoretically one could record you saying the phrase, then play it back to activate your phone.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUBmmwBJqL4
Let me know what you guys think!
Regards,
Ben

No. The whole point was it can be done with a recording. Thought it was an interesting fact I wanted to share. Not worried about it in security sense.
Its supposed to recognize just your voice. No one else has been able to activate it. Doesn't surprise me it works using a recording, just an and interesting fact I wanted to share.

KitKat and Google Wallet News

First, hell has frozen over and MotoX on Verizon is first to get KitKat update:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/1...e-first-kitkat-update-and-its-starting-today/
Next, it appears that google wallet now works on verizon due to the HCE (host card emulation):

So, we should theoretically get all this soon on the maxx. Yay!
Wow. Still in denial.

No. I thought the same thing coming from a Galaxy nexus to the razr maxx hd then to the droid maxx.
You have to realize this line of phones is only on one carrier. And for me, the phone just works. (with xposed framework of course).
But I would never dismiss the idea of needing more development.
