I was wondering if someone that knows how could modify GEL so it has tabs on the app drawer.
I love this new stock launcher and it is really good if you stick with the stock apps but as soon as you start getting new apps on your device it becomes a huge mess quite fast. I hate the way the app drawer is so deorganized... if only I could organize it in someway with folders, tabs o even just order them myself would be great!
If anyone is able to modify it and make the app drawer a bit better would be awesome

That's only for the home screen and is not at all what he is asking for.

I would loved to see this also I read some where tho because they are closed DPI that modding the stock Gel launcher won't be possible but I really don't know about that sort of thing I know nova plans to integrate some of the voice option and some of the other things but who knows will see. I was nova all the way till GEL
It's possible to modify it just like any other launcher but Google actively goes after anyone who modifies their closed source stuff so even if someone did post it the forum would take it down in short order. The launcher does this for a reason. If you search through to the app google gets that information, if you simply navigate to it they don't. Same reason you cant take down the permanent home screen search widget, they try and cram SMS via hangouts, and all the other bone headed things they did to try and force you into giving up more information. Say no to uncle Goog and get one of the many third party offerings. Seriously. You'll have a better launcher and maybe Goog will take the hint and rein in the increasingly aggressive tactics they have been using to harvest data.

I always use Wizz Bar, but now it won't work once I updated to ICS. Now I'm sad I updated. Anyone know how to get it working?
could not find it on play
https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=SnowBEE
is the developer probably ask them if they are working on a android 4 version?
they are also on here SnowBEE
re: wizzbar
That was one of my biggest disappointments with ICS on the a500 but after discovering Nova Launcher where I can customize launch icons on the bottom... it's similar without being able to hide the icons but I find it to be a great substitute. Might give it a whirl. works great on my tab running flexreaper
Unfortunately, the ICS is currently common, application compatibility is not due to different OS. I agree, sad as the refusal of applications for Android 4.0.3.
Has anyone come across an alternative to Wizz Bar?
I do miss this App on my Tablet.
GMD gesture control.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodmooddroid.gesturecontrol&hl=en
it has a "launchpad" feature which does exactly what you're asking for. you can assign whatever gesture you want to bring it up.
Unfortunately it requires root, sadly which my work would not allow to happen.

I'm a huge fan of GMD Gesture Control but App Clip and ReLaunch can replace Gesture Control's LaunchPad feature really well. I don't think they require root but I'm not 100% sure..
It really sucks that Wizz Bar isn't going to be updated for ICS, but I'm running the TegraOwners ROM and can 'pin' apps to the combined bar anyway, which I think is a great approach to this problem and something I hoped would be possible while I was still watching YouTube videos trying to decide on a tablet to buy.. Hopefully one of these guys over on xda can get the same feature working eventually

Wave launcher is somewhat similwr. Not exact, but it's really good. Even better on phones than tablets.
Hey guys!
So I was just wondering what tips users have to make the most out of an unrooted Nexus 4. Anything from must-have apps/widgets, theming/customization tidbits to getting optimal battery life. I realize there must be threads all over the place talking about these individually
but I'd really appreciate it if everyone could simply link it all here. I want a place in the forum where users can give tips for optimizing/customizing the pure stock experience without root-requiring mods. If such a place already exists, I apologize for the ignorance. Please redirect me there. If not,
thanks to everyone in advance!!

What all things we can try on unrooted nexus 4. ? Pl help. I was about to create a thread for the same. Pl help on this.
To increase volume of the speaker and (bluetooth) headsets i use Volume+ from Google Play and that works very good for me in terms of loudness. For restoring apps and data i use Helium (Premium) and Appmonster Pro.
Check these apps (Non-Root)
Launchers
Nova,Apex or Action Launcher
Widgets
Battery Widget,Minimalist text
Apps...
Editors section from play store is helpful
Advanced apps
Tasker,Locale
hi, i'm using non rooted nexus 4.. i have nova launcher (prime) just because i like having option to change scroll effects, app icons, customize dock, set transparency etc. for widgets, i would recomend battery widget reborn, it has so many features other than just showing you battery life.. dash clock, which replaces stock lock screen adding more informations of your choice (unread sms, missed calls etc). also i would suggest lightflow, for LED and notification control, its super great. next, good file manager (im using ASTRO) and even better keyboard than the stock one, swiftkey keyboard, i'm thrilled with it.
Uccw is great for theming once you figure it out. Nova and Apex are both good for launchers. 1 weather is a nice widget along with battery widget reborn. Lightflow is great for LED customization. When it comes to theming almost anything can be done with UCCW along with nova or apex
You have a Nexus, Live a little install cm10.1 be happy
Hello guys,
if you could help..may be there is someone know how to make touchwiz30launcher support alphabetical apps in drawer..i found some guide and apps touchwiz mod from another thread...yes it work but i really just want to know how to do that..
thanks before.
I think it's possible but it is not worth the time. Just get a launcher from some custom rom, even though I'm not using Monochromatic, I still use the launcher cause it's nice, just extract the apk from the Zip

Many people don't get this but,
Being humble is like the "I win" button in your life.
I currently own a ATT S4, it's rooted with Wanam Xposed Framework, Nova launcher, Stock Nexus messaging app, etc... And I must admit I really like this phone a lot, after having an Nexus 4, and Galaxy Nexus before that. The battery life on this S4 is freaking amazing, easily 50% better than my Nexus 4. I get 5h -5.5h On Screen time every day, and I really like the 1080p screen, very beautiful. And this phone is plenty fast for me, no lag with Nova set to "Faster than Light"
TouchWiz is pretty much hidden away with all the other .apk's I have installed. But the one thing I HATE on TW is specifically the Dialer and Contacts. Swiping to make a phone call is ****ing stupid, and not being able to swipe from the contacts to the phone dialer is another mistake.
And pressing the Phone app, or the Contacts app, are the only two apps, that have a slight pause or delay, not really lag, just a pause till it opens up. No other app does that, everything else opens up in a blink of an eye.
But other than that, I do like TW, and the other cool features it has, and I use. But would love to find a stock Nexus Dialer and Contact .apk, but not sure those would ever work on a TW phone ? And I can't flash any zips, due to being on MF3 firmware I can only do .apk's with Root Explorer. Is there something similar to the stock Nexus dialer/contacts on the Play Store ? And something that is not laggy or worse than even the stock TW ? Some of the Play Store might look like a stock Nexus app, but are actually slower, and worse.
I found this app on the Play Store, and it seems very much like a stock nexus dialer, pretty quick, and light
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dexetra.dialer&hl=en
Checked my Greenify settings, this 'dialapp' is running big time in the background, with lots of wake times. Looks I need to delete it now. Dang, can't I just install the stock Nexus dialer from an older 4.2.2 build, and delete the Samsung TW dialer ?
ExDialler is good too.

I tried both apps, Dialerapp and ExDialer, and they were good, but still have TouchWiz running behind them, when pressing to hang up, it shows the TW interface there, or some other areas still show TW. I thought these apps would erase and get rid of TW 100%, guess not.
I suppose I could try to delete all Samsung Phone / Dialer .apk in /system with Root Explorer ? Would love to be able to push a 4.2.2 based CM10.1 phone.apk, but I think that might screw things up ?
I also tried a lot of Dialers some time ago, while I was still on S2. I settled for RocketDial. This app does everything and is incredibly fast. Costs money, but it's worth it in my opinion.
dialer + , has kinda stock android look
Yes, whatever third party dialer you install, the TW will stay there, as it's in the core of the TW framework. I don't think there's a way to completely uninstall it, rather you shouldn't.

Try exdialer and contacts that's what I use and love it. You can change the interface to make it look like how you want. Try it out https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.modoohut.dialer

Find a guide to try flashing the zip. I think either you would have to change the script of your device and edit it or flash the zip via safestrap. I usually look into the international theme forum they have a bunch of great ports that work for our phone also.
