I think i'm not the only one that hates senseUI so my following questions are:
1. what developers would put the effort to max this phone to it's best?
2. Will we have cyanogen?
3. will we have screen calibration?(i really god used with true color rather than "blue pushed" colors).
Please if any developer would love to put a bit of comfort to our hearts please post here that you would do the best for this phone
So looking forward for it!
Edit: posible to swich roms from G2 to z and other way? that would be nice, theoretically it's very posible same hardware!
looks like the G2 will have stock froyo(not sure) but i really hope we can cyanogen mod on this thing! still don't think desire z is going to replace n1 on the priority list.

You are quite right, but alao g2 might take the place of n1,and g2=desire z,it'q all a matter of rooting i think.
Damn i will really miss the led flash from n1) really really usefull for me.
LED flash? G2 also has a flash with its camera, if thats what you mean..
Also, to your 3rd point, if you're talking about the blue tinge issues and such, these screens won't have those issues as they're not AMOLED's, but SLCD's.
Aaaa sry i mean trackball led flash.

but no led track ball though still wonder if it'll steal the crown from the n1. afterall desire z isn't a "google experience" phone.

dang. i was hoping for super amoled display. well atleast with slcd we won't be getting anymore burnin. hopefully.
Unfortunately for now, Only Samsung has the rights to use S-AMOLED. Its their tech anyways. But I believe from next year fall onwards they will start selling S-AMOLED screens to other manufacturer's.
For me S-amoled is not that interesting anymore, really curios about this S-lcd and it's multitouch capabiliti really hope is better than n1 or desire.

Cyanogen tweeted earlier this month saying that he's getting a G2, so I think it's safe to say that the G2/Desire Z will have lots of developer/hacker support. Honestly, that's part of the reason I'm so excited about the G2. I'll likely be keeping it for the full 2 year contract, so having a phone that's so supported by XDA is a huge advantage.

You are perfectly right, xda really makes the touch on android, without it would be boring.I live in europe still not decided if i should take the Z or just buy the g2,really don't know if there would be a diffrence within them.Hope we can get them soon:x

Id love to dev for it, just need a device. Just bought 2 new phones so I'm kinda broke

Totally agreed, I stuck with the G1 till now which definetly would not have been possible without everyone at XDA. You think that maybe Cyanogen might make a Non-Sense version and a Sense version of the ROM?

I've been done something useful on Motorola Milestone and I've ever been in HTC WiMo devices modding etc.
Selling Milestone, HTC Desire Z already ordered and waiting for its arrival. I'm in.
First of all, we have to see if it's unlocked, then we can play with the system: putting Sense on CyanogenMod maybe is possible, we'll see. I'll do better than I can.
-kholk.
I'm a little curious which one would work on at&t 3g. I prefer no sense and think cyanogen will support that before sense.

From what I know, Cyanogen doesn't make Sense ROMs, they're only modded AOSPs..
Anyway, this waiting is killin' me....
I wanted to get one before the Nexus S was announced, but I went with the Nexus as soon as it came out. For some reason I'd still like to have one as a secondary phone. Convince me how horrible the G2 is so I won't throw down any more cash.

it is an insult to use the G2 as secondary phone. Thats how good it is and thats why you should dump the plasticky S.

No, damn it! This is not what I want!
I will be getting the G2 in a few days and I will be finally dumping my captivate.
Awesome keyboard, beautiful design, extremely fast, highly overclockable, HSPA+, optical trackpad, tons of ROMS and support from developers/community. The G2 IMO is still the best phone on T-Mobile
You guys are trying to screw me. ~_~

Yes! A bitter community that can't understand any kind of humor. That will drive me away for sure.
The mighty G2 eats the likes of the Galaxy S and Nexus S for breakfast
If you wait a little bit longer before you buy it it will have the new firmeware version preinstalled so it will not be rootable.
-> then you dumped your cash
dude its horrible i ditched epic 4g on sprint in dreams of the nexus s, and then it was announced... by then i had grabbed tmobiles cyber monday deal and got the g2. needless to say im still reppin my g2.. but seriously get out, if you want to have other think for you theres a phone for that, switch to att. SJ does an amazing job of telling his customers what they want
::Edit:: really should change my settings from sprint to tmo.. >.>
I don't think I could go back to a keyboardless phone after using the Desire Z. Would not trade/switch over to Galaxy/HD/NexusS unless you paid me to use it.
the keyboard closes on your ballsack very easily... major crap dont get it!
but i was able to google a doctor quite quickly seeing as how this phone is the fasted phone i have ever used. :|

lol.. .. I'm agree on that part, at 1st people around us will think it's weird, but when they tried it, surely they will impress with the bigger screen..:good:
Pretty good device still, but you'd be better off getting yer mitts on a Galaxy Note - way better hardware and screen, more user support and CM10. Always thought the DS5 was pretty moody - mine would spontaneously factory reset every month or so.
Hello all,
I'm planning to get a new device.
Is nexus 4 good on hardware given that it's made by lg?
Should I buy htc one x+ or galaxy s3 instead?
What are your recommendations?
I can afford upto 30k or 550_600$.
HTC One costs around 43k,if you can afford that much then I would really recommend it.Nexus 4 would be a good choice too.
Oops I meant to say htc one x+

I had the same thing in mind.
But it has a better interface, processor and beats audio.
I don't care for most if these but has lg made a good hardware for the nexus 4???
Btw nexus 4 arriving here in a week
Agreed, sense will always have a better ui than anything in the world
Don't care about the beats audio, have seen ppl using other mods despite having beats audio.
Lg is a good company,we don't see it as a cell phone manufacturer,do we?
And you mean,you've ordered n4?

What you mean by hardware?
Build quality?
Yes
Then Slymobi must have something to say about it.Nexus 4 to me looks good, has a much better build quality than any of the Samsung devices.
I'd go for the N4. Purely because your getting a pure google handset, with new updates guaranteed (unlike HTC. Who sometimes cancel or don't even bother to update devices), you'll also get something that's easy to BL unlock, root and experiment with. And being a nexus device, I'm sure there would be a lot try out!

The build quality is just great! Just the speakers and the camera are not as good as the HTC one's. I had both phones One and Nexus and this glass look looks just so much better than the "plastic" from the HTC One X. And it's also easier to root than the HTC phone. It was a pain in the ass to root the One X and to flash ROMs on it. The Nexus is definitly the better choice also in relation to the money,
I'd get the nexus 4. I already have a nexus 4 and it is brilliant. It feels more premium than the galaxy s3 and the htc one x+. Plus it is easier to root and will have excellent developer support. You also get the newest updates from Google themselves.
I have the one x, great device, doesnt feel "cheap" at all, n4, while having more "premium" feeling also can break more easy so keep that in mind.
Also, hox is easy to root, dont know why is everyone saying its hard lol.

Ive seen it. Frankly Id prefer android!
The hardware of the N4 is amazing for the price. Fastest phone I've ever used for sure. For value/speed, nothing comes close.
The glass back is fragile so just make sure you purchase the right protection.
Jellybean 4.2 is so good you could use it without the need for rooting

Never happened to me...strange. I think the 4.2.2 update solved this issiue for the most people. I think that happens to maybe 1 of 1000 N4 devices. And if yours is affected you can send it back and order a new N4.
You can still choose the HOX its also a nice device and it has almost no bugs but its got that crappy Tegra processor which seems to be not very familiar with the android system itself and some Gameloft games.
hi i didnt find answer in forums sorry
optimus g or nexus 4 or project sheild?
everything was fine i were goign to buy the nexus ...
but i saw this it also has mroe storage shoudl i get nexus 4 or...?
i care so much about screen and do gaming (no prob whit buttons)
i dont have song and take my pics to cloud i maybe have videos in my device (at msot only 1 1080p other 320p or..
ofc i will have n.o.v.a and others....!
and i'm becoming an andorid developer ! \cheer!/ (im only 13years btw!)
or maybe project sheild? i think its only good for gaming!
if u can tell me which phone is better for what usage!
or if wroth pay 2399$ for s4 n4 is 1614 and optimus g is 1700$ not much diffrent from n4 and OG
No point comparing the Shield to any phone... the Shield is just a gaming device that happens to run Android.
In fact, you can simply plug an Xbox 360 controller into an Android phone or tablet, provided the phone/tablet supports USB-on-the-go, and you pretty much have the Shield already. If the phone/tablet doesn't support USB-on-the-go, a PS3 controller connected via Bluetooth works too.
I would recommend the Nexus 4 over the Optimus G if price is a concern. But if money is no object, then get neither - go for a HTC One!
Btw, are those prices in USD? The black market must be really prospering in the face of those sanctions O_O.
