There is only 1 speaker. The other grille area is the primary mic.
This has been asked at least a dozen times...

I have seen people who have rewired standard headphones at the plug (using the existing plug and not replacing it), so that one ear is a speaker and the other a mic for use on their cell phones. 2 plus hours of google-fooing have only left me scratching my head!

I don't think that's possible dude, they might have added additional hardware to that setup (like a mic itself).
Nice try! LOL.
Well, you probably could do that with a 4 pole plug.
The only problem is that an earpiece makes a lousy microphone.

You are right! An inline mic is added but it used a 3 pole plug.. Still looking to see how to wire it up
So here is what I noticed yesterday. Playing music through phone speakers.
It seems either only one speaker is working or is extremely low on the other.
Please try any song in any app and see for the volume in each speaker at the bottom.
Try to cover one and then the other alternately.
For me it seems more than 80 % comes from right side only.
My phone is only two weeks old. Never had a fall or anything.
Same thing in all apps .
Can someone confirm so I know it is just not me. Could be a software problem.

That's right!!
OnePlus 2 has the speaker only on the right side. It makes you seem like you have a speaker on the left side but you dont its just a design thing, and that their on the left side is a microphone. lol

It would have been easier for you to google, instead you wasted time creating this thread.
Hey,
I was swapping out my sim card and not paying attention - I accidentally pressed my sim opener into the other little hole that is near the sim card opening hole.
As it didnt open and I wasnt looking I naturally pressed harder, then i looked and realized I am pressing in the wrong hole!
Bit worried I might have damaged something, I hope this hole is not for mic or anything, I have googled but I cannot find out what this hole is for.
The hole in question is the one to the right of the sim card tray, there is only one other hole on the top of the bezel and this is the one I pushed into
Mic hole

Thanks, is this the mic that is only used when the loudspeaker is, as I presume the mic when using the phone normally is at the bottom of the phone

Skyhigh too, if you have seconday device near you or someone's, call and check if you wonder, never mind..
I tested the top mic.
The scenario is when a call is active:
- when normal speaker is on the top mic does nothing and the bottom mic receives sound.
- when loudspeaker is on the top mic picks up sound and the bottom mic turns off
Try is, make a call to another phone, play some music or something into the the top and bottom mic's, you will notice that the top mic only receives the sound when the galaxy has its loudspeaker on - also, when the loudspeaker is on the bottom mic doesnt receive any sound.
ps, luckily there is no damage to it.
I have 2 edge+ and I tried the one I pressed into by accident, then immediately after I tried the other one.
The sound on the other end of the phone is the same. Means the little mic at the top is pretty strong, must have a mesh gauze or something protecting it?
Anyone have a pic of the internal part>

Yup, thats what I said. Glad to know its not damaged.
I realize this is an old thread. But I just did the same thing with my note 8. OP did you ever run into issues after you did this?
OMG. I just did the same thing. On an old note 5.
I did this on edge plus but thought that was IR sensor, googled but no info to find and finally here...I hope it is not damaged & even if, much relaxed to know it is secondary in a sense, and does not harm the functioning...
Hi, can someone test the left and right speaker of your phone and tell me if the volume of both speakers are the same, in my phone the right speaker Is louder than the left speaker Is this normal?

Same on my Nokia 6. Left speaker is more as supportive one, making the sound depth.
So I think this is normal.
Speakers
Both speakers of device are dead only the speaker at the receiver is working
The bottom (or right as you may say) speaker is the one that makes bass sounds and is primarily the louder one. The top (or left) one is only to produce Stereo effects. It's also a little lesser loud than the bottom one.
In my case, after close to a use of 2 months, my bottom speaker is giving me problems. It's making static sounds, the speaker starts working only after half a second later to the top one. It's like it shuts down itself after every silence amd so needs some time to wake up to work.
Nokia Mobile Care called me and asked me to reset my phone first, and then if the issue stays take it to service centre. I don't think a phone reset will help though.
Nokia 6 TA-1021 India Variant.
No October Update+7.1.2 also.
As the title says, is speaker on left side an issue or is there any disadvantage in using the phone in landscape the other way around so the speaker doesn't get muffled? It would take time to get used to but is it not the same as using it with the speaker on the right functionality-wise?

There is only one speaker on the bottom to the left of the charge port, the holes to the right are nonfunctional and just for looks

Oh no, that's not what I meant, I guess that's what happens when I try to use less words. I was asking if having the speaker on the left side of the phone is a deal breaker because you muffle it when gaming, and if this can be solved by holding the phone with the speaker facing the left side so you don't muffle it. Are there any quirks to holding it with the speaker to the left?

Ok, sorry about the misunderstanding. Usually I just rotate the phone too the speaker is to the left or use headphones. I really haven't run into too many issues that way.
I have issues with it....if i dont have the OP6T stereo speaker magisk mod installed. i use the "extreme" version. yes, it requires magisk, but it makes it harder for me to muffle *as bad*. even using the "extreme" vol boost version of the mod the earpiece speaker is still considerably quieter than the main bottom left speaker. but its far more tolerable.
