[Q] No cellular data on Sprint with Omnirom 4.4.2 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I have a rooted Sprint Galaxy S4. Just flashed the 12/21/2013 4.4.2 OmniROM and everything seems to work flawlessly except for I am unable to activate my cellular data. Calls and texts work just fine. I already tried flashing the Sprint APN settings from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47813564 and still can't get it to work. Can someone point me to the right direction to get this fix? Many thanks!

You can try manually entering them in with APN shortcut or you can open the apns with voice dialer! Im on a uscc s4 and found I have way more success manually entering them in!

Nick, you get this to work on the us cellular with 4g and all?
BTW, make sure to have a good backup of EFS

Not made it over to omni yet but I plan on giving it a run! I always put the apns manually and got a friend on the sprint version that's had more success doing it that way other than flashing the fix zip!

Do you have the Sprint APN settings? I tried looking for it and they don't seem to have the updated ones. Can you link me? Many thanks.

Thanks, but it's still not working... Any other idea where the apn settings are or should I go to the Sprint store for assistance?

Im not sure if they'll give them to you! There's more than that link if you try googling it you get quiet a few options maybe one that'll work is in there! I wish I could tag ppl in these post! I'll send a link to a friend that I know has a set that works cause he's on cm 11 now and it all works for him!

MMS Fix:
Name- Sprint
APN- cinet.spcs
Proxy-
Port-
Username- none
Password- ****
Server- *
MMSC- http://mms.sprintpcs.com/
MMS Proxy- 68.28.31.7
MMS Port- 80
MCC- 310
MNC- 120
Authentication Type-
APN Type- default,mms
APN Protocol- IPv4
Those are the ones I've been using.
I have MMS on data but not WiFi.
I read an article that MMS is always data and even on WiFi if you send a MMS it hands off to data and right back to WiFi. It seems that the AOSP has a hand off issue. So if I need to send MMS I just toggle off the WiFi.
Running ProBam 4.4 hope this helps

Try switching network modes. Also use Sim toolkit and reset the applet. If you have a good backup of efs, restore that too

Update
I spoke with Sprint at a local store as well as customer service on the phone and got no solutions. I have return the rom back to stock or find another rom with Sprint APN settings built in. I still can't seem the right settings for Sprint. If anyone can provide a link, please do so. Thanks.

Update - data works :d
Just thought I would share with you guys that I fixed my data and retained my calling and texting on Sprint.
Solution:
1. Download APN Shortcut from the Play Store and install it.
2. Open APN Shortcut and tap the menu button and select "Reset to default".
3. Now select "Sprint LTE internet" with the subtitle "n.ispsn"
4. (Optional) Enable mobile data in main settings menu if you haven't already.
5. Try going on the Internet now with your favorite browser of choice.
6. If it doesn't work select EHRPD Internet if that failed.
Enjoy

Sorry to reply to such an old thread but my Verizon G2 is coming in the mail and I am looking to activate on T-Mobile. From my understanding each Cloudy rom (CloudyG3, CloudyStock etc), T-Mobile stock roms, and ParanoidAndroid seem to work (data and all) as long as the APN settings are configured correctly. I however would love to try other roms (spirit rom and lollipop when they eventually come out). Will these roms work with the APN settings correctly configured?
It should work fine haha this is a really old thread I don't even have a g2 anymore

No Signal with NAE, APN settings Grayed out

I recently flashed NAE modem from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338919&highlight=signal And now I have literally no signal. The only APN listed now is LTE - SPRINT OTA otasn and it is grayed out so I can not add a new one. Does anyone have or know of any fixes for this? I tried flashing back to MJA modem but all of them on that thread only have this one APN and they are all grayed out. I have been searching all over and can't really find a good fix for this so any help would be GREATLY appreciated. My GS4 is rooted and have Philz and Negalite WondeROM if that helps at all. I assume it is an APN issue since I do not have the one I see most people talking about...however I can not add new ones since it is gray....i suck lol. Thanks again for any help at all.
I'm on stock unrooted NAE and have them greyed out so that means that's "normal"

Lollipop Hotspot, no root or flashing needed

The only think you need ahead of time is your MSL. This isn't too hard to get from Sprint customer service. I got mine via an app called MSL Utility, which it seems now crashes every time I try to use it on Lollipop.
The steps:
Go to Dialer and enter ##DATA# (##3282#)
Press "Edit" then enter your MSL.
Click on APN Settings
For both "APN2 EHRPD internet" and "APN2 LTE internet" change APN Type from "default, mms" to "default, mms, dun"
After you enter the change, hit Menu -> Save before going to the next APN.
And that's it. That easy. It works for both Hotspot and USB tethering. Seems too easy, but that's all I had to do.
UPDATE 5/21/2015
There's been some concerns that this wouldn't work with the OE1 updated that's started rolling out. I can tell you that it works just fine. Feel free to click that update button!
UPDATE 8/03/2015
Confirmed, still works on the OG5 5.1.1 update.
UPDATE 11/06/2015
Tested, still works with OJ6 update.
This didn't work for me. It appears to work, but then it tries to sell me a tethering plan.

THANKS A LOT! one of the main reasons I wanted root!!
Work just perfect, now my question is, does sprint can detect when im using hotspot service this way?
Dont know
They probably know... i have used it since gs3 then note 3 and now note 4 doubt they really care too much about it
There is another ota coming in alril after the s6 drops i have a friend whos a manager for sprint in boston mass
When you do an prl update itll need to be re-inserted.
i called sprint the other day over slow LTE issue. I was on the phone with a tech who eventually had me do ##72786#. after this session i was unable to obtain hotspot through galaxy tools using method 1 or 2. Prior i had no issue.
I didnt have my MSL and had deleted my last NK2 backup so had to go through the whole process of reverting to NK2 and back to my backed up OB7.
My OB7 backup was prior to the sprint session and so hotspot is working fine. Any ideas of what sprint pushed to my device?

You should caveat that your mod needs Root since this is a post about a way to hack it without root. I haven't rooted my phone yet and frankly the hotspot issue was the only thing I missed that and call record. Probably wait till my warranty is out before I root.

More AOSP rom options

If anyone is interested in using AOSP, I recommend checking out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=68115024.
Please read the entire first 3 posts.
Depending on which rom you decide to try, you may need to edit the updater-script to be able to flash it to your device. @TheBr0ken has made a change, so any build after 8-28 will be flashable for us with no updater-script edit.
My setup:
N910V (retail converted to dev)
TWRP 3.0.2-0
CPD1 bootloader
CPF3 modem
T-mobile BrokenRom(8/29 build) on Verizon network
OpenGapps - Nano
Hey, I have a question. I'm running Broken Rom. on N910V. But it shows that I have bars, but I cant make calls or use SMS. Any tips?

I'm not sure, I just flashed it and everything worked. The thing I'd check would be the APN settings. I attached what mine are (That's what it defaulted to)
Also check to see what your preferred network is set to. It should be on Global or CDMA LTE/Evdo.
Edit: What bootloader/modem you on?
Ummmm so youjust had to manually re-enter Verizon's APN? T-Mobile ROM already have it? The only APN on my note4 was Verizon's but it's not SIM LOCKED cricket postedthere APN on there website I manually entered it and worked fine. What APN's came on the tmobile (just curious having recently played with network settings. )

ASOP roms contain apn settings for as many carriers as there is info for, thats 100's. They are based initially on mmc/mnc set within the SIM. There are multiple apns for the same mmc/mnc for Verizon. Same with T-Mo. I currently have 22 APN listings in my APN settings that use the same mmc/mnc as T-Mo. Generally the best match is found to get registered within the network. At that point the default APN selected can either remain the same or change automatically to a better suited match. If you don't have any APN's then the system failed to acquire a best match. If you only entered one, then you'll only show one. If I deleted the 21 listed APNs that are not used but share the same mmc/mnc then I would also only show one. Honestly you can have 50 listed but as long as the correct one is selected then the rest can be ignored.

Really ? Must be unlucky then in selection . I run emotion currently but have run cm and lineage and didn't get any . I was starting to think they must be loaded apart from ROM inititially. Where would I look (in the ROM zip to see the APN settings ? Honestly never thought of this but if your right which sounds feasible they would need to be in there....somewhere in the radio? AT&T & T-mobile now have the same bootloader version

*I originally posted this in the AT&T S7 forums unintentionally so posting here as well*
For those of you curious about running the T-mobile firmware on the AT&T version of the edge, it is now possible since they are now using the same bootloader version.
I have an AT&T S7 edge (SM-935A) and recently switched to T-mobile as my carrier. I had to unlock it first so I used the service from unlockunit. It took almost a day for the code but I was then able to pop my T-mobile SIM and sure enough, it worked. Surprisingly, WIFI calling even worked!
At this point, I really wanted to switch to the 935U firmware as I heard it has great battery life as all the carrier bloat is removed. Unfortunately, just before I switched, the recent September update from AT&T raised the bootloader to v4. I learned after the fact you have to disable the update service as it eventually will force you to update. Now I was stuck with the damn AT&T firmware!
I wanted to flash the 935U firmware but the bootloader was still at v2 and T-mobile, so I thought, was at v3. It might be helpful to have a sticky on this forum with the current bootloader versions as it took some time for me to research the following:
AT&T - v4
T-mobile - v4
Verison - v4
Sprint - v2?
Universal - v2
Yes, you read that right, T-mobile just released a new firmware (PIA) which raised their bootloader to v4! You can grab it here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G935T/
It's the one with the date of 2016-09-27. I used the prince odin version referenced in this thread for flashing as others failed and gave sha1 errors. http://forum.xda-developers.com/veri...g930v-t3411015
If you plan to do this please research how to flash with odin and remember to back everything up! Samsung Smart Switch is a great resource for this.
I've been running on the new T-mobile firmware for just a day but already like it better than AT&T's. I didn't even know AT&T disabled some features of the S7 edge that other carriers kept. Typical for the Deathstar. Can you sense my disdain for AT&T?
For example, with the T-mobile firmware, you can control Download booster (the ability to leverage wifi and LTE simultaneously!) This option was removed from the AT&T firmware. In addition, you can set a preference to WiFi calling. With the AT&T firmware, you have no control and it will only flip to WiFI when in a weak area. It just so happens where I live the AT&T signal is weak so I was always jumping back and forth between the two and it was frustrating not being able to control it. The only way to force WiFi calling is turn on airplane mode when in a fringe area and turn WiFI back on. I'm so glad I don't have to deal with that anymore.
I'm including some screenshots which show the current firmware running on my SM-935A.
Hopefully we'll see an update to the 935U bootloader to v4 which will allow a switch to that firmware.
Thanks for the info.

no sorry im not clear on what im asking lol. im on (U)firmware but i cant send mms and my ims is not registered. if i go back to (A)firmware everything works fine. so the question is first do you have an origianl att phone? and second if so when you flashed the u firm ware did your mms work or did you alter something to get mms working.
My question is if i remain on att and run the tmobile firmware will the wifi calling work?

oh ok you arent rooted thats the big missing link lol , im rooted on att variant but have u firmware. sorry thought you were rooted and on u firmware.
So, it sounds like you're saying we can use ATT WIFI Calling after flashing the G930T firmware? Is there anything you lose from G930T? HD Calling for example? Anything else?
Edit: I said 930 because I followed a link here from the 930 forums - I assume it would be the same for the 935, but I'd like to know how it worked on the 935 too.
What are the benefits with the TMOBILE firmware?

It has been written elsewhere that AT&T requires 1) proprietary code [read: ATT ROM] and 2) AT&T-branded phones (IMEI they recognize, also includes some non-ATT such as iPhone/HTC) for advanced calling features to work.
I would bet that VoLTE, WiFi calling, video calling, advanced messaging, etc. do not work with the T-Mo ROM.
On the other hand T-Mo uses more standard VoLTE protocols, etc., so phones like Nexus 6P, 5X, etc. work with VoLTE and WiFi calling just fine on T-Mo.
A bit of history: Even people who got ATT-branded Nexus 6 do not get VoLTE because Google later standardized the N6 ROM therefore without ATT's evil code (and bloat).
ATT has quickly surpassed VZ as the new Evil Empire.

I used the prince odin version referenced in this thread for flashing as others failed and gave sha1 errors. http://forum.xda-developers.com/veri...g930v-t3411015

Where did you find the solution, I've tried a couple different versions of odin and no luck. Also, should I be using the "CSC" or "HOME_CSC" in the CSC box?
EDIT: Also figured it out. search for "Verizon S7 / S7 Edge [Root Guide] SM-G930V SM-G935V [NO KNOX TRIP]" in xda to find the correct ODIN version for this.
and the correct file to use in the CSC field is "CSC" even though ODIN says to use the "HOME_CSC"
Do I need to enable OEM unlock?
