[Q] Can you tether your Focus with a portable Wifi Router?

Hello,
I read somewhere in here about someone using a portable wifi router to convert the tethering of the Focus to wifi. I am unable to find the post right now. They posted a link to the Aluratek CDM530AM which supposely is compatible. Has any of you tried this? Let me know if it works. Don't want to spend the money and it doesn't work.
Thanks!

[Q] Setting HTC HD Mini Wi-Fi Router

Hi all,
I seem to have some problems with setting my Wi-Fi Router. I sometimes need it for my work, so i can use that Wi-Fi for my portable. I can set it up, but theres no chance i can find the wi-fi. I already tried with different types of portables with no luck. When a guy from my work does it on his HTC HD2 then i can find his wi-fi? Anyone any idea?
I haven't installed a custom rom. Its all ROM's from HTC itself.

[Q] Wifi Direct/Smartshare Beam only to LG DEVICES?

Hello All-
As a previous Samsung Note owner, I would use WiFi direct to send files to any other brand phone around me. With my LG G2, I connect with WiFi direct to a samsung/HTC phone and pick the file. The menu only displays the Smartshare beam option, and no WiFi direct option. When I click Smartshare beam the other phone disconnects and I can't send to any other brand other than LG. I have tried disabling smartshare beam and other things, it almost seems that LG has prevented us from using WiFi direct with other non lg phones. Anyone have any ideas or work around that don't involve downloading a third party app? Any help is appreciated.

I tried to dig in to the settings and managed to send files between Galaxy S2 and LG G2
Its a little difficult ...first connect the two devices with WiFi direct check if the file shring is turned ON then do the following
here are the steps
1. Go to settings on LG G2 and click networks
2. click share and connect
3. now click on the menu button at the bottom it shows option "use DLNA feature" click it
4. it opens up window showing two icons at the top 1) library 2) player
5. click on library icon and select the source device (example Galaxy S2) then click allow access
6. click on the player icon and select "my phone"
7. this you can access data from galaxy s2 on your LG G2.
8. If you choose LG G2 as your library and open any folder say pictures
9. open the picture and there is the option of upload at the bottom (or tap on the picture and you will see it)
10.click upload and select device you want to send it to (here its galaxy S2
If you have any more questions please free to ask hope this is helpful
11. accept the file on galaxy S2 or similar device and there it is the file gets pushed to your other device from LG G2
I tried everything but even with the description above it won't work to send data vie Wifi-direct to other phones (non LG).
Is this a bug or is it supposed to be like this? If so this was my last LG phone for sure!
I love wifi direct because it's the easiest way to exchange data with others nearby. Not being able to use it with my "Top-of-theLine" Smartphone really sucks and lets me miss my crappy S3 mini.
Any suggestions anybody? Please! :crying:
Try this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.majedev.superbeam

Samsung worked for me to other phones but not LG...
And Superbeam only works if the other person has superbeam installed as well if im right... thats just uncomfortable.
I'm just wondering if this is how it's supposed to be?
No update or solution for this?
I'm having this issues myself. I just don't think using Superbeam is a long-term solution to this problem.

Superbeam doesn't need a client and works with any device that has WiFi (it doesn't have to even have WiFi direct)

Sorry for necroing. This is also my concern on my g3.
Difference of wifi direct and superbeam is wifi direct capable devices can transfer files using wifi direct even they are in the middle of the desert. All it needs is 2 devices both connected to each other. No need for router.
Superbeam needed a working router, a host, a client to connect both devices to use wifi transfer. So you need to find a router, connect your devices before you can use superbeam.
Both wifi direct and superbeam use wifi speed tranfer rate.

Superbeam DOES NOT NEED AN ACCESS POINT for transferring files.
I am always using Superbeam for transferring and in almost none of the cases there is a router present. Even if there is I still choose WiFi Direct because my G2 WiFi capabilities are far more advanced than my surrounding Access Points.
If both Devices are WiFi Direct Enabled, SuperBeam can use that for transferring files (which is my preferred method all the time). So it leaves it to you whether want to use an access point or WiFi direct for transfer. So you wont't have any problem in your desert.
If one of devices doesn't support WiFi direct, Its OK, SuperBeam makes your device an access point.
If sender device doesn't support WiFi Direct, but it supports WiFi AP, same as above.
If sender doesn't even support WiFi AP, then yes you need a router and an access point for transferring files.
Please use Google and search a little bit before your posting false experiences. If you at least have looked at Super Beam Google Play page ...

Yes my mistake. Im using superbeam on both my devices, galaxy note pro 12.2 and lg g3. Note pro is working properly but my g3 is not so i have to install superbeam to be able to send files through wifi direct.
Lg remove their capabilities to send and receive files using the default wifi direct application. They remove it to give way to their SmartShare Beam which is only exclusive to lg devices.
You can use the option wireless storage and connect the other phone in lan using the app ES file explorer.

[Q] (Q) Best ROM for bluetooth reverse tethering?

Hey Everyone,
I have a SGS4, and i work in camp far away from any cell towers. We're not allowed Wi-Fi, but we are allowed to use bluetooth.
I have a 4.4.2 and would like to reverse tether with my macbook. I have rooted my S4, and i try to use my internet sharing on my macbook to use the bluetooth PAN, but i have had no luck. It just doesn't give me the option on my phone to connect to the internet.
With all the searching i've done, i've come to the conclusion that its because 4.4.2 is the problem.
Does anyone know what would be the best ROM for me to use so i can use reverse tethering with bluetooth?
I'm not as good as most of you with your phones, but i can do basic stuff like adding ROMs
Thanks for anyones help, i've been trying for weeks to figure this out.
