Hello everyone, I've been researching this topic for a while on the internet and it seems that it is an impossible task at the moment, correct me if I'm wrong though. So, does anyone know anyway of nfc emulation on android? for example using your phone as an access card to your apartment and other similar stuff.

EDIT: SORRY ABOUT THE TITLE IT WAS MEANT TO BE UN-RETIREMENT
Hey guys,
I just brought my old Alpine out of retirement, It works OK except it was retired because I broke the sim card socket.
I was going to use it for tom-tom but just left it ignored for years. I fancy using it now as a way of having a nice moile internet browser around my house, (Via Bluetooth, possibly wireless eventually if I can justify the costs)
Its an old XDA2 Branded device and what I really want to do is
Upgrade the os to get all the latest driver versions even upgrade the OS from the standard if it is not having issues. all I need working is the BT and SD card reader really and as few bugs as possible.
I really want rid of all the O2 crap as well just the plain basic good software.
Any recommendations of what browser to use (is there a firefox mobile?) i considered opera as well.
any other ideas of cool little apps to make this a good device that will only use in hope to brose net ad a couple of games, perhaps have skype on it for example
any advice is welcome as I have been away from the scene for 2 years.
Thanks guys
The quickest way i found to clear out the O2 garbage was to hard reset and then when it says "Custom application will be installed in 3 seconds", or something like that do a soft reset.
Hi folks,
I'm currently trialing some custom software which connects out to a database over GPRS. However, it would appear that this software in conjunction with some other software is causing the device to lock up.
The lock up is so severe that device will only respond by restarting it.
Obviously this isn't much use so I am looking for some software which will help me diagnose the problem. My question being what sort of diagnostic software would you folks recommend ?
I'm looking for things that can log processor usage, memory usage, etc. Anything really which might point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance folks. I appologise if this first post is a bit vague !

Hello!
I know their is an issue/bug with Wifi connection, but i couldn't find some solution.
Do you guys know?
Otherwise the phone it self is amazing,i realy like the software i think that it's the future for mobiles as long as everthing is working properly
Thx!
Hi guys!
I have been lurking the forum for quite a while since I had a palm pre and thought about switching to android. Now that I have my milestone 2, I was able to gain a lot of knowledge about android in general and my phone in particular from these boards so first off: thanks to all devs and hackers making scripts and cooking up roms!!!
Here is my question:
I was wondering about a possible tweak for wifi reception and searched the net. My buddys htc desire has way better wifi than my ms2 with ms2gingerRc1... that of course annoys the heck out of me, cause my ms2 is obviously worthy of being the wifi uberphone.
Is the internal antenna really that bad or can this be rectified with an improved wifi driver?
In the omap dev manual a method of recalibrating the chip firmware is being described that will generate a new nvs_map.bin and I wonder if doing this would possibly improve wifi performance.
I have been googling this since yesterday and noone seems to have done this. Anyone here knowledgable enough to comment? Will this even make a difference or is this recalibration routine for indev and prototyping only?
Thanks in advance!
Try This:
Mine was missing and this worked fine:

I end up getting a Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-l337 for free. It had a broken screen which I was able to fix for $7(was a pain to fix). I've been having a problem with the WiFi though. It works fine at first after a factory reset and I wipe everything, but after a bit it doesn't work anymore. If the WiFi is left on and I try to connect to a different network it will show as a green dim icon, but I can't turn it on. If the WiFi is turned on like if I turn off my phone then it won't turn back on as well. Is there any way I could fix this with a custom kernal or new modem firmware? Also is there any cool things I should get or install on my phone? I've been wanting to use it for Kodi and stream to it from my pc over wifi then use the screen mirroring. I've also been using it as a google cardboard which is really cool if anyone hasn't tried that before. You can play wii, psp and gamecube games on your computer and stream the video to your phone in 3D and play on it. Works pretty good.
Since you have an AT&T Galaxy S4, you really should be heading over to the AT&T Galaxy S4 Forums on XDA for information regarding your device, including custom ROMs, kernels, and firmware.
The most important piece of information I can give you about that device is this: depending on whether the phone has had its firmware upgraded or not, the bootloader may be locked (i.e. encrypted), which will make rooting and custom ROMs difficult. There are ways to work around the problem, but they are not located here, as this is the International S4 forum, and we don't have devices with locked bootloaders.
