Hello,
I have tried to use the built in wireless tethering on the Nexus 4 for T-Mobile, but it seems that they have blocked it. Is there any other way I can tether the Nexus 4 on T-Mobile?
Thanks

How is it blocked? It works for me on T-Mobile but it sometimes takes a few minutes to start working once I enable it.

I'm also on tmobile and the wireless tethering works fine, the only problem is, it takes a while about 3-5 min for it to fully connect and have internet. If you don't wait, the connection will show limited access.

Nevermind, its working now. I don't know why it wasn't working before. It used to say limited connection only.
I thought you were going to say that you got the upsale message for not having a tethering plan!
My t-mobile tethering is working fine. Connects within 1 minute and I can watch Netflix on my tablet easy. I like how t-mobile network is faster than my home cable internet.
Do any of the apps from the market work to bypass the check? Like WiFi hot spot. I need to be able to tether. Seeing how no root or unlock. Can someone try this and test?
Also if it pops up and says Verizon you need subscription try just hitting the home button to close the message and see if it activates.

Odds are, FoxFi will work. Few devices don't work with it. Root will most likely happen hours after the devs get the device. DesignGears has a root for ATT's GN3, and with our Odin file, someone should be able to port that to verizon in a very short time.
I appreciate the reply bang, but I'm with black hat and it would be great if someone who has theirs can check and confirm with certainty. I know I can just wait until I get mine tomorrow but if someone can give us a heads up it would be wonderful. It's one of the biggest features for me.

Well, it comes down to when/if we get root. With root, all of the tethering apps SHOULD work. Without, only FoxFi may. Pop over to the ATT forums and ask if someone would check out FoxFi to see. Their is gonna be the closest representation to ours until tomorrow.

Funny, it seems this is a question still unanswered across the forums... Lots of conjecture and "probably", but nobody has actually tried it and confirmed yet. imablackhat, let us know when you find out.
Just download hotspot toggle from the Play Store, it works just as good and its a widget

That's not what is being asked here. We all know what tethering apps are out there. We're looking for confirmation that the Verizon Note 3 can wifi tether.
That works with just a out every phone... It enables less the default hotshot and bypasses activation checker...

Again, with all due respect, we're NOT looking for predictions and "it should work".
Just a simple question. Can someone who actually OWNS the Verizon Note 3 just confirm that it works or doesn't work.
If someone gets me a framework-res.apk ill tell you if its possible to natively bypass the check or permanently disable it.

I am able to tether with PDANet but the FoxFi WiFi gives me a message from Verizon and doesn't activate.

Have you tried to hit the Home button on that message instead of hitting OK? It should keep the WiFi tether active with FoxFi. Saw this trick, I think on the AT&T N3 board.

Yep. I got the phone and it works without root. Just says you can't do that and hit home to close that message and ignore it and keep tethering active.

Have you tried asking in the AT&T Note 3 forums? http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2582

There's a solution in the Sprint forums
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2481448
YOU WILL PROBABLY SOFT BRICK YOUR DEVICE if you just apply that zipas is, but he does include the process used which may be helpful in making an ATT version
Try this first... it works...
Turn it on and hit the home button not cancel when you get the prompt to call VZW
Hit the notifications and select Hot spot Activated Tap to Configure and change the SSID and or the security to what you want.
Check out "Hotspot Toggle Widget"

By paying for it?

Also ES File explorer can do tethering without rooting. Tested on s4 from ATT.

Has anyone got this apk to work for the note 3? Is It Possible? I just want a tether apk that tells me the amount of data that's being used and this one is the only one I know of that does that correctly.

Which one? I can only get the native to work on my note three bypassing it with the hotspot toggle switch widget found on the market, but I rather use the a different one like open garden. but I have no luck making it work.
The apk wifi tether for rooted users. I used it on my Nexus

I found you can use wifi tether in native tether mode, but it resets the hot spot settings to default every time you turn it on. I, too, would like it to work properly because I like seeing how much data I use and the network speed.

Is there any risk in using native tether app? I am coming from tmobile, where they'd hassle you to get a tethering plan.

On my Galaxy S4 I was able to download an app called 1-Click WiFI Tether that didn't require the phone to be rooted. I just upgraded to the S5 and now the app does not work. I was wondering if anyone here knows of a good app that I can use without rooting the phone or am I going to have to wait till it is rooted in order to make my phone a hotspot?

Which carrier version do you have? Most have been rooted by now, and it takes all of 30 seconds to do.

Galaxy S5 on Sprint Wifi Tethering
I am having the same problem with wifi tethering. I have already rooted the device, but every wifi tether app I have tried does not work. Including Wifi Tether, Wifi Tether Router, and FoxFi. Also hide it pro no longer works on the new android kitkat. Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Thank you.
which carriers removed the wifi tether toggle from the drop down menu. I have a verizon s5 and it is missing.
Wifi Router worked on my rooted S5 on sprint. look here.
