I just got my new LG G2 from Sprint and have been very excited about the upgrade. One thing that I noticed, however, is that the G2 is not supported by Handsfreelink, commonly used by Honda/Acura for bluetooth connection while driving. Please forgive me if this question has been posted already, but is there any work around to get the G2 to be recognized by my Acura? My old LG Optimus G paired up just find so I can't help but feel that there might be something in that stock rom that can be pulled and made available to flash in the G2 to trick the Handsfreelink software in the car to recognize the phone. TIA.

Handsfreelink doesn't offer software updates. Acura will tell me that my car is outdated and that I need a new car (or stick with an old phone). Both choices I would rather avoid.

To my understanding, if you have a newer Honda/Acura you shouldn't have any problems pairing with some of the newer phones. The issue here is that my car is an 06 and my phone is from 2013 (hence the incompatibility). I'm hoping that someone has gutted the LG Optimus G (or Galaxy Nexus since that phone paired fine too) and has been able to pinpoint the code/script that allows the older phone to pair with my handsfreelink.

Peugeot 407 (2008)
device : Nexus One (Rodrig. latest)
I always had troubles getting my device paired with my car, but mostly after a while or installing "bluetooth file transfer" it worked.
However not anymore. Does anybody has an idea what the problem could be? Are more people experiencing this. The devices see each other but they can't connect/pair to each other.
I also tried the app. "bluetooth fix" but it gives an error. Even after reinstalling the "Super User" app from the market.
(sorry I wanted to replace it to Q & A)
linking and transfer of phonebook is good, but quality is very bad. It is difficult to hear the other side, most of the time I have to take it from handfree and talk into the phone directly...
using cm 6.1 rc1
Had that too. Use a kernel without audio-mod.
It works but not really at the same time ..
I can receive calls but I didn't manage to get my phonebook on the car or make a call from the car, I have to dial through the phone.. Not sure actually if its possible or not with my car anyway...
Phone: Nexus One - CM6 nightly 263, with radio 5.12 and Wildmonks 112210 kernel
Car: VW GTI 2010 - RNS510
Does anyone also have a problem with using his bluetooth?
My phone sees my car's bluetooth but can't connect.
It always gets rejected!
It used to work on early Rom releases.
I am searching the net and this forum but I don't see any solutions.
There is an app on the market to fix bluetooth but it didn't work
Problem car: 2010 Audi S4
Phone: Nexus One (ATT) 2.2.2 (unrooted) Radio 5.08
Phone pairs. Cannot answer calls through the car controls. Must answer physically on phone in order to answer call. If picked up by car controls, the car says connected but no audio.
The system used to work perfectly before while on eclair 2.1. I think Froyo screwed something up for me.

I'm also on CM with audoio issues. which kernel did you use, and is it affecting other areas of your phone pos/neg? i.e. do you recommend the switch?
The latest from wildmonks without Audio Boosts are :
http://wildmonks.whoisthedrizzle.com/kernel/2.6.35/010411/No_Audio_Boost_CM6/
These are good.
However I can't even connect anymore (had the no audio boost too when in the time it could connect)

I also have an A4 with nexus one on CM 6.1 (still with audio boost) and it works perfectly (except for the sound quality). So might be a specific issue on your phone side, or maybe the new audi SW (mine is from 2008). have you looked at this thread?

For those anxious to get 4.4.4 you might try liquidsmooth which now incorporates it and runs on most if not all moto-x's. It's been upgraded to 4.4.4. Unfortunately, bluetooth is still not working correctly for me and if I try to pair the phone with my car, the car's system goes into a slow endless loop where the phone is connected and then disconnected. I am going to try to see if there is some way to get the phone working with my car....it's very frustrating because the moto-x has never connected correctly (galaxy nexus was flawless in this regard).
I am guessing that it isn't built on the 444 kernel, so, don't get too discouraged yet

What year make and model do you have? I have a 2011 Ford Edge and 2011 Ford Fusion, both of which use Ford Sync (Suck), and I have no issues with either.
Also, are you stock, or running a custom ROM? You seem to be running a custom ROM, and in that case, all bets are off.

It is 4.4.4 kernel. I think I've found the issue and it's unique to "techies". I have a pebble smart watch which uses google...the connection to the car system (2014 MB) uses bluetooth. If I don't wear my watch, the connection to the car works...no loops/etc. When I wear the watch in the car, the car/phone link goes all screwy. I suspect that one of the bluetooth stacks doesn't like to share....and I'd bet it's the moto-x stack which can either use the bluetooth or the car link, but not manage both together, even though everything is paired correctly. I haven't checked to see if pebble and the MB use the same protocols...it may be that they both share txt even though I only need phone on the car link.
I'll post more when I get further into this....I just stumbled on the cause today when I didn't wear the watch and repaired the phone with the 4.4.4 kernel.

I've heard them all, but we've had precisely zero issues with the Fusion, and one with the Edge that was fixed free of charge due to silent recall.
My only issue with Sync is that my Fusion has the Gen 1 version, and the most recent software update removed the key reason I chose this car over the then comparable Sonata. Without that feature, I would have gone with the Sonata.
Hello XDA!
So since I got my Galaxy S4 (NC1 build) I have not been able to use the Bluetooth with my car (ACURA TL 2006). Apparently Samsung has upgraded the Bluetooth so far that it is no longer backwards compatible. There are lots of threads about this on ACURA forums, I am sure other cars have the same issue.
Is there anyway that I could :downgrade" the built-in Bluetooth to a lower version so that it works with older devices? Any upgrade doesn't benefit me anyway.
Any help is appreciated!
Did your old phone connect using BT? I'd delete the old profile and start fresh with a new one.
Make sure BT is on and your phone is discoverable. I'd do the easy stuff before trying to downgrade any BT firmware/drivers.
Moved this thread to the Q&A section where it should have been posted originally. The desire to include the [Q] tag should have been your first hint about this

Thank you for your response.
Yes I removed all the profiles from the car (there were like 5 different ones). The car does not see the phone and vice versa. Of course BT is discoverable. There are many threads about this on ACURAZINE forums, both ACURA and Samsung refuse to help. I think its wrong that BT is not backwards compatible.

Thank you for your comment. I have UNFORTUNATELY taken the OTA and my S4 is now on NJ4. No change in Bluetooth thought. My ACURA TL still doesn't see the S4, neither does the S4 see the ACURA TL. (My 10 year old TMobile T610 worth $0.00 easily connects to car bluetooth). I say unfortunately because now I cant even SIM UNLOCK , my previous versions I guess up to MK2 could easily be unlocked with a couple of clicks.
Hi all! My boss has the Edge + (as do I) and is having all sorts of issues with the bluetooth connectivity in his BMW. It keeps dropping in and out. The calls don't drop; the bluetooth drops and then reconnects. He's a business owner and makes tons of calls from his car, so as you can imagine, this is quite frustrating (and embarrassing).
Anyone else having similar issues?????
Appreciate your help.
I'm actually having similar issues now in my Ford Fusion. It will connect, but won't let me make calls or listen to music. When I attempt to play music it will say that BT media has been disconnected. Upon checking the status on my phone the media turns off, but the phone is still connected. However, neither really works. It's frustrating as it worked for several days when I first got the phone but then suddenly stopped.
Audi mmi works great. Maybe call your dealership and see if they have a update for the system?

My advice for the BMW is to check the firmware update for the specific model of car of your boss on the BMW website
It is not very much intuitive but I can assure there is this possibility and also the new firmware download is possible
I've been using a Note 3 for two years on my BMW 530 and at the beginning with their old firmware I had similar issues, then it was very stable with both music and phone calls. Now I'm using the Edge + without any trouble
No problem with Bluetooth on my Toyota Auris Touring Sport HSD, sometimes sms are not showned but they are well received by the car when I check them, and calls work fine. So as dengi_it told you maybe a firmware issue with your car.
I heard somewhere BMW and Mercedes will have some discussion to link iPhone and cars together maybe they won't support Android phone anymore in the future :s.
Thanks, all. Going to pass along this advice. Appreciate it!
Tell him to buy a new car!

Yes, I have the same issue in my 2015 M5. Bluetooth is essentially unusable after the latest update (OH5). This phone is going back.
UPDATE: He factory reset his phone and it seems to have fixed the issue. ::fingers crossed::

This is my second S6 Edge+. I thought it was possibly a hardware defect with the first but after the second one I am led to believe it's a typical shoddy samsung update. A factory reset will fix the problem for a few days and it will begin again.
Picking up the new iphone 6s+ on Friday. I've had enough of the bluetooth issues.

Sorry to hear. Good luck!
Works fine in 2011 Hyundai Sonata.
I am having a lot of Bluetooth issues on my Elantra. Works for few days and then it just fails to connect and I have to delete my car from my phone and from my car stereo just to get it to connect. It is a freaking pain in the butt. This is my second Galaxy S6 I have gotten and it seems mostly to be a software issue then a hardware one.
Hi,
Have an H870 with latest Firmware 10n and Android Auto is not workin with it properly.... Have had a lot of phones working with android auto in my car like Oneplus 3/3t/5 but the g6 will not work, It connects to my headunit via usb, but after a while it gets disconnected and the It will not reconnect since I replug the usb.... anyone have a clue what is the issue. The G6 is a nice Phone but without working android auto I cannot go with it..... Car is a 2015 VW Golf.....Please help...
In my case Android Auto doesn't even connect...
Opel Astra 2017.. G6 h870.
All phones I had before did worked...
Nice to hear that I'm not the only one..... But for me that's the dealbreaker..... What a bummer..... The phone itself is really nice for the money......
Works fine here with V10l-EUR-XX. Didn't get 10n yet and based on your experience I'll skip it unless there is someone for whom it works. I assume you tried to reinstall the app? Have you reported it to LG/Android Auto community forum?
I'm on v10t and after I connect to my car (VW) my G6 keeps reconnecting randomly...sometimes even every few seconds. I have already tried different cables, reinstalling Android Auto, restoring original google play services etc. I've even made factory reset and it appeared fine at first but after a few days it is dropping connection again. Can't figure out what could be causing this.
If anyone is using AA on VW group car with G6 on v10t and it is stable - please give me a shout, thanks!
Using my LG G6 on the latest firmware and it used to do the same to my Vauxhall Corsa 2017(Opel in other countries).
The only workaround I had was using an Anker a7512 4 port USB 3.0 hub with Gigabit Ethernet.
I used the USB C cable I had off my Nexus 6p and plugged in through the hub, Never had a connection issue since but it's a bit of a shabby workaround.
In my opinion, I think it may be a voltage issue, but correct me if I'm wrong!
*EDIT* using V10t-EUR-XX

Also brand new Opel (Vauxhall) Astra with intellilink 4.0 and a brand new LG G6... AA works rarely and for unpredictable time. Usually I have to "Forget all the cars" in AA to make it work, but even that is 50-50% chance
Nexus 6p didn't have any issues with Astra before. Also I've tried Samsung J5 and it works flawlessly - with the SAME original LG USB-C cable! This is really frustrating and I hope someone has a solution...
Did you find a solution (since we both have same care and same phone)?
