Play Store 'Server Error' - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So Today I got my note 3, rooted it using CF-Auto-Root and everything is/was working like normal.
However, now, after 10 hours I get 'server error' whenever I try to access the play store. Everything else works just fine. E.g Chrome, Instagram, YouTube etc etc.
I've tried to wipe the cache but nothing I've tried has worked.
Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: Works fine on 4G. I just tried restarting my router but that didn't work either.
EDIT 2: I fixed it.
Since I was using Adblock+ before I was rooted, I had to put in a proxy. Removed it and now everything works perfectly.

[Q] Strange wifi problems

At some point today I noticed every time I tried to go to google play it would tell me I had no connection. I would try to reconnect, reset my router, reboot the kindle, nothing worked.
Later I noticed only certain apps were not working. When I launched dolphin hd I was able to browse pages, but I am getting a lot of invalid certificate errors when I do so.
My kindle is rooted so I connected to it via ssh and ran tcpdump and I can see data going in and out fine via the browser. However when I try to to monitor port 443 for google play, gmail I see the https traffic, but both google play, and gmail are saying "no connection, retry"
I'm able to ping gmail, twitter, I can browse google. Any ideas what might be causing this?
Oh, also tried fired up twrp wiped my cm7 install and tried to load a old backup, same problems.
maybe blocked some ports on the router ?
I went all through the router settings at the start, even tried connecting to some open wifi thinking it had to be my router, and I have the same issue regardless.
i've had the same exact problems. idk what to do. it wont let me connect to the internet using any app except the browser and there are so many errors with certificates.
Hmm did you try clearing dalvic cache of reinstalling rom.also what rom are you using.

[Q] P6810 unable to access any search sites (google.com, bing.com etc)

I have a P6810 I bought from expansys-usa, importing to the USA a device that is not normally sold here. It worked fine for a while, and I very much enjoyed the device.
Then something very strange happened and every time I used the google search bar I got a "Connection to the server timed out" error. Then I tried to go to google.com directly in the browser and I also get the same error message. I tried other search sites bing.com, yahoo.com and each with the same result "Connection to the server timed out"
Other websites (E.g. bbc news), apps including the google play store app (but not play.google.com through the browser), gmail apps etc all work fine, it's just the search sites.
I tried a factory reset and started completely again, the same thing. I rooted and installed a custom rom (Noob 2.1) and the same thing.
I have a galaxy nexus on the same wifi network and that works fine, I have PC (Windows and mac) that also are able to access the search sites, so I dont think it's related to my wireless network.
The only thing I can think of is that there is something related to the fact this is an imported device that means something in the device is stopping the connections, but I cannot for the life of me think of a reason why this does not work. Especially given that it worked fine for the first month I had the device.
Anyone have any ideas?
Have you tried clearing cache and force stopping the built in browser?
Have you tried another browser, such as Opera or Firefox?
If you are rooted, have you tried to fix permissions?
I've also got the P6810 from out of the US, but this has not been an issue for me at all so I don't think it has to do with where the device was intended to be sold.
Hi thanks for the response,
Yes have tried Opera browser with the same results. Not tried firefox though, and I don't see it in the market as an available download.
I hadn't explicitly tried resetting the browser cache but have done numerous factory resets. I have just tried it now though and no difference. Though it also fails to sign into google account at browser startup.
What do you mean by fix permissions?
If you are rooted, then in an app called Rom Manager, there is a menu item to "Fix Permissions" It can sometimes fix some errors.
Another thought, assuming you have Clockworkmod Recovery flashed, then go into Recovery and wipe cache, and wipe Dalvik cache. Other than that, not sure what else you could do.
Sounds more like DNS issues, can you get to any of the search sites via IP Address?
Have you tried another wireless network to see if you can pull them on someone else network?
Try rebooting your router and modem then re-connect and see if that fixes your issues.
I know you dont think its your network, but at least you can clear it just to be sure.
Sorry for the delay in getting back with an update, but my tab went into a boot loop with Noob 2.1 and I have now reverted back to stock, also some not tab related things kept me busy for a couple of days (a new daughter), though that may actually keep me busy for a lot longer
I agree with you, it should be my router I have a Cisco E4200 router, with a Panasonic Cable modem, and roadrunner twc internet, and I have upgraded my firmware to the latest version and checked that there is no custom routing settings (I have never set any, but checked anyway). Seeing as it's more than just a single site that is an error not just google but bing, yahoo also, I don't know where/how that could get set.
When I do reboot of my router it does then work, but only for a short period of time, it's hard to work exactly what that amount of time is, but greater than a couple of hours but less that 24 hours. It is then back to "Connection to the server timed out" errors.
If people have ideas of what to check on the router then I would be interested in hearing that too, but it is just this tablet and nothing else on the network that is having the issue.
I'm stumped. I'm sort of hoping that ICS will come along and magically fix things.

[Q] PlayStore and Gmail won't work with WIFI

Good morning,
For my Galaxy S4, my Gmail and Playstore apps are not connecting when I turn WIFI on. They will only work with 3G/4G data. Everything else works fine except apps that require a Google account. Browser works fine with WIFI. Games that require a connection work fine with WIFI. Whatsapp works fine with WIFI. Pretty much everything except Google works fine with WIFI.
I have tried:
Disabling the firewall.
Clearing Google Play cache and data
Clearing Gmail cache and data
Deleting my Google account from my phone and starting over
Deleting Google Play Store app and installing a new one from a .apk file.
None of the above has worked. Everything was connected fine with WIFI until about 2 weeks ago. Not sure what happened. Any suggestions?
Thanks
It's a Google issue. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44555985

Are you rooted and on a custom rom. Only had this issue on GE/Aosp. Have you tried reformatting your sdcards. Carefully and correctly of course.
Yours problem sounds different if you are not getting the Package Failed message--

I'm rooted and still with the stock rom. Do you mean formatting the external sdcard? That one is empty. Or did you mean doing a factory reset?
Thought about formatting internal card. Back it up first. Something I do when all else fails. Still may be the Google issue others are having. I read something about clearing caches and data like you did to include Google framework. Then reboot to recovery and clear both caches. Then reboot.

Just did a Wipe Data/ Factory reset from Recovery and still nothing. Google just refuses to connect when WIFI is turned on.

I had done that previously and it's not the router. I didn't work with any WIFI connection.
I just fixed it by installing a brand new firmware from this page: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/. I think my phone might have had a messed up version because my Baseband version was different from the ones on that page by 1 letter. So I just picked one close enough and flashed it and it works now. Still don't know how Google not wanting to connect with WIFI on is related to having a different Baseband version of Android, but it works so I'm happy.
bro you are gonna thank me for this
[FIX]
few and simple steps
clear the data for play store
turn off your wifi
go to settings accounts
remove the google account
then add the account again and reboot
after you reboot
turn on your wifi
BEFORE YOU TRY TO OPEN THE PLAY STORE
go to PLAY NEWSSTAND WAIT FOR IT UNTIL IT LOADS
now you can test ur playstore

[Q] [SOLVED] Apps not working with wifi but no issue through browser or 4g

So I updated to NC1 and rooted and went on with my ricing as usual but I ran into this unusual problem after about a week. Keep in mind I did not change any settings anytime close to before this happened. Apps like Facebook, Twitter, eBay, Paypal, and even the Play Store stopped working over wifi but others did such as my chanu, Craigslist, email, etc. If I go to Twitter, Facebook, eBay, etc. through Firefox everything works properly but not in the apps themselves. If I disable wifi everything works fine off of 4g.
Here are some of the things I tried in order
- rebooted device
- cleared cache of applications with issues
- booted into recovery cleared my whole cache partition
- uninstalled apps but even Play Store wont work over wifi so I had to load it up in Firefox then reinstalled
- forgot wifi network and re connected
- restarted modem
- tried with the internet at my sisters house when I was over a few days ago and still did not work. She has a note 3 and everything worked properly for her
So at this point I was willing to try anything. I rebooted my device without my SD card just for the sake of desperate troubleshooting. When I booted into it all my active logins were gone. I tried logging into my twitter and it returned an error but not an error like before just saying my network connection wasn't working properly it said something along the line of "Unknown Hosts file"
Now I am fairly familiar with the GNU/Linux system (running Arch Linux for over a year) but I cannot think of a reason why my hosts file could have been modified on my device. Even if it was modified why it would bring issues like this? Shouldn't default to my Routers DNS server then?

It was running originally but I disabled it and changed my network setting back to not use 127.0.0.1 as a proxy and the issue was still there. I probably should have mentioned this above. Really not looking forward to it but I feel like I am going to have to flash back and start all over with my ricing/settings.
[EDIT1]Alright I just uninstalled it completely and set my proxy setting to none and still have the issue. I am going to clear my cache partition with it uninstalled and see what happens.
[EDIT2]Well what do you know it worked after I rebooting and cleared my cache partition. I think it was more of the fact of rebooting then clearing the cache. Going to go ahead a give you a thanks for reminding me about adblock, I just kind of ruled it out as an issue when I disabled it the first time. Cheers!

Play Store/Gmail - No Internet Connection error (But have internet Connection) - SSL

Hello, I have a PX6 Avin device and I just installed their update to fix all the other dreadful problems, and bam, no longer am able to use the Play Store. It says NOT CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET. I tried resetting the date and time to manual, still does not work. I have not tried tethering my hotspot to it but no WIFI works on play store or gmail. Everything else works with Wifi. And if you try to browse to a secure site it says cannot connect securely. What can I do to fix this? I was sure the date and time would fix but it did not.

I would try either force stopping and clearing the cache from play store, or even the data! Watch out, you may have to give your credentials again.
Or in worst case, factory reset the unit and start configuring everything from scratch.
