Ok guys. I have an s4. Am in UK and an thinking of getting a note 3 on tesco mobile. How easy is it to unlock so I can use my 3 network sim. It was simple on s4. Same deal on note 3?

Simplest and easiest way is to get an unlock code either from the network provider you are with or as you are on three network. ... They are unlocking for free. There is a thread on that. .. check it out.
You ring up three from your three sim option 3,3,2,1 (something like that) and give them your imei number and within 7 days they will send you the unlock code.
Worked for me on a vodafone locked phone

well its a tesco mobile note 3 - and I want to use my three micro sim card
was wondering if the app 'region lock away' would do the trick?
dont want to sign up for a contract if I cant unlock it myself
Like I said you can still get it unlocked by three. I got my Vodafone locked phone unlocked by three.

Dont pay, theres a free way to unlock your phone to other networks ...
its on XDA somewhere !! ( i cant remember the name of it currently, but ill update you once I remember )
surely i would need to speak to tesco mobile if its locked to their network? not three?
or am i being stupid??
really need to get this sorted asap - gotta decide in about 30 mins if i am getting this phone
i like the s4 which i have, but the note 3 looks awesome....lol
I've said it to you twice. My phone was locked top Vodafone and I have the imei to three and they gave me the unlock code which worked and now my phone is unlocked

Buy the phone. ... You don't even have to open the box. ... The imei number is on the box (I would open just to make sure of everything) give the a call and if you don't get a code. ... Give the phone back or ask tesco to unlock or use one of these websites to get the code

They aren't doing it to be nice, it makes good business sense to make your phone accept a 3 sim so they can start taking money from you.
You can also get a Note3 unlocked for £7 in about 1hr on eBay
After all that. The phone was factory unlocked! Got it from carphone warehouse. £27 contract. Free handset. Working fine on my 3 sim. Thanks for your help guys!

Yeah CPW and P4U sell unlocked handsets with their contracts as they get them in direct rather than via a carrier.

I think I read somewhere that t-mobile will make you keep the phone on their service for at least one billing cycle before they unlock it.
You'd better just call them and ask, the store clerks will give you an answer, or 3 answers, probably all wrong.
Please update the thread when you know for sure.

That looks to work if you don't need a true unlock where you can use any sim without restricts. I had great results with cellunlocker.net. It's $25 but you never have to worry about it again.

I bought two At&t Note 3s yesterday. One for me and one for a friend. I'm on At&t and my friend is on MetroPCS. I called At&t for an unlock and they couldnt get me a code, even though one was paid in full price and "qualified" to get unlocked according to them. So this is how I got the phones unlocked.
Reminder: I'm not responsible for any damage you may do to your phone. Proceed at your own risk!
Root is Required!
1. To root your At&t Note 3 follow this guide (Thank You designgears!)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2474422
2. You will need to allow unknown sources to be installed.
Settings>General>Security>Unknown Sources (Make sure its checked)
3. Install Chainfire's RegionLock Away App from Google Play Store (and buy him a beer :highfive or download it from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470551
4. Tap "Region Unlock" in the app
5. Let it do its thing
6. Choose Reboot Later (Thats what I did at least)
7. Turn off the phone and try a non-At&t sim card.
I tried my old T-mobile sim in mine and it pulled up, and we just got back from the MetroPCS store and have his running on that.

I have an unlocked note 3 simply I went into the AT&T store where I live and said unlock it or I won't buy it and bam they did it. I have a simple pay as you go T-Mobile card popped it in, input the code and unlocked I was. I had to buy the phone outright so was costly but not at all risky. LTE showed up just fine on the T-Mobile network.

I asked at&t here about that since i bought one full price and they said, to call customer service. So did the next day and they "couldnt" give me the network code. I honestly dont care about an unlock as I'm on At&t.
The only difference is that you're phone wont be region unlocked. Sim unlock and region unlock are different.
Did you buy your phone full price/off contract?

Thats kinda of upsetting. I walked into the store and told them I wanted one full price and they were like "There's no 'full price', its just at&t next and you pay it off all at once if you want". I went online and showed them the option to do full price OR next, and they said they couldn't sell full price in the store. Didn't understand that because my s3 and note 3 were both full price at the store, Plus I've found deals with coupons online and they've matched it before! I hate when I go somewhere and I know more than the person working with me (I think he was just trying to get more commission off me.IDK). : They made me wait longer for the phone than I should've too. Guess my store here just sucks :rolleyes
Kudos to you. Wish that would've happened to me!

I did
I did it a month ago and it works well. Get an unlock doe from the website that costs $30 if you cant find a free way, i tried the one for $6 and they sent me my money back 2 days later because they couldn't do it. Once unlocked use the APN from these settings:
http://www.4gtricks.com/2013/04/t-mobile-4g-apn-t-mobile-4g-apn-settings.html
I tried all of the other ways for it and none of get the full LTE speeds like that one.
I am a UK resident and I wish to purchase a Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It's quite expensive in the UK although I was wondering if I bought it from the US, due to the currency conversion rate, it'll come out cheaper (I've previously bought the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) from the US and the overall cost still came out cheaper if had I bought it from here)
My main concern is that will the phone still work here in the UK I.e will I still be able to get calls and will my existing sim card still work (I have no problem with getting it unlocked) ?! I was asking because of the different carriers and antennas and what not. I am not a person uses LTE as my current tariff doesn't support it so I have no problem with that being like the deciding factor. I'm currently on the 3 carrier in the UK. Thank You

Don't H3G use different frequencies? I know H3G phones were a pain in the butt a while ago due to their oddball requirements, but I would imagine flashing the H3G btu firmware would resolve any "issues" as it would include their modem.
Am I barking up the wrong tree here?
As long as you don't buy it locked to verizon, sprint or at&t then it will work fine, because those networks are cdma I believe. And as the UK doesn't have any cdma networks, only gsm, the device won't work.

There are threads on here about region lock. You have to insert the 'territory' correct sim card for 3-5 mins and then lock will be removed. ou can get it removed by ringing Samsung or you can root and remove it that way.
PS... It would appear that you didn't get a clear answer on Android Central Either!

To the op, if you are not fussed about the LTE, then Note 3 from ATT or T-mobile will work on 3G in the UK. As mentioned previously, do not buy from Verizon, Virgin, etc as they are CDMA phones and will not work in UK.
Another option is to buy from amazon USA if you are currently in the US. Get the International version.

You must be in USA because you need to use an American Sim card first so that the region lock will be removed but I could be wrong. Whereanouts are you in UK? For maybe 50 quid worth, I would just buy feom UK. Its not worth the gamble and hassle for me
Put serious value on the warranty on a Note3 .. its not quite such a bullet proof phone as a note 2.
Also I got one here in UK at a great price just a week after launch by getting it on Voda contract then unlocking it for EE use. There must be some cheap deals in UK now surely.
