I am a UK resident and I wish to purchase a Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It's quite expensive in the UK although I was wondering if I bought it from the US, due to the currency conversion rate, it'll come out cheaper (I've previously bought the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) from the US and the overall cost still came out cheaper if had I bought it from here)
My main concern is that will the phone still work here in the UK I.e will I still be able to get calls and will my existing sim card still work (I have no problem with getting it unlocked) ?! I was asking because of the different carriers and antennas and what not. I am not a person uses LTE as my current tariff doesn't support it so I have no problem with that being like the deciding factor. I'm currently on the 3 carrier in the UK. Thank You
If puchased outside the uk your waranty won't be valid in the UK

Bought my n9005 on amazon.co.uk from amazon directly, not any third party sellers. Got the european model, was a decent price too.

Don't H3G use different frequencies? I know H3G phones were a pain in the butt a while ago due to their oddball requirements, but I would imagine flashing the H3G btu firmware would resolve any "issues" as it would include their modem.
Am I barking up the wrong tree here?
As long as you don't buy it locked to verizon, sprint or at&t then it will work fine, because those networks are cdma I believe. And as the UK doesn't have any cdma networks, only gsm, the device won't work.

Att is not cdma.
Yes, the ATT note will work on 3G and 3G+ networks for your carrier in the UK. 3 has no GSM (2G) and only uses the 3G 2100 band. The ATT note 3 has the following 3G bands: 850/1900/2100MHz

There are threads on here about region lock. You have to insert the 'territory' correct sim card for 3-5 mins and then lock will be removed. ou can get it removed by ringing Samsung or you can root and remove it that way.
PS... It would appear that you didn't get a clear answer on Android Central Either!

To the op, if you are not fussed about the LTE, then Note 3 from ATT or T-mobile will work on 3G in the UK. As mentioned previously, do not buy from Verizon, Virgin, etc as they are CDMA phones and will not work in UK.
Another option is to buy from amazon USA if you are currently in the US. Get the International version.

You must be in USA because you need to use an American Sim card first so that the region lock will be removed but I could be wrong. Whereanouts are you in UK? For maybe 50 quid worth, I would just buy feom UK. Its not worth the gamble and hassle for me
Put serious value on the warranty on a Note3 .. its not quite such a bullet proof phone as a note 2.
Also I got one here in UK at a great price just a week after launch by getting it on Voda contract then unlocking it for EE use. There must be some cheap deals in UK now surely.

I did a search and found nothing on the GT Note using simple Mobile.
Has anyone tried this as yet, and can you tell us what the speeds are like so far.
And what package did you go with.
Looks like they use T-Mobile's network, which means nothing over EDGE speeds.
I'm running one of the AT&T MVNOs on a trial basis and so far I have not been disappointed. I am loathe to give up my T-Mobile plan but unless there's a breakthrough in getting 1700/2100 AWS working on this thing I might have to make the move permanently.

Can't give you a difinitive answer one way or the other, but I notice that the one on the bell website is missing the ear speaker that my n5100 has. (It's a little silver strip of a speaker just above the samsung logo on the front) Not sure if this means it won't have the phone dialer etc., but it does mean that if you can make phone calls with it, they would have to be over a headset or on speakerphone. I can confirm that my n5100 with a bell sim can make phone calls just like a big (massive) phone.

I believe that the Bell and Tellus models use the same frequencies as the USA AT&T models, which have the phone app and speaker removed. If you want telephony capability, make sure you get the N5100, which will run HPSA but not LTE. The phone is readily available on Amazon and Ebay.

It does give me hand ache on long calls from stretching my hand to hold the phone, but i dont make that many calls. Not the currently allocated spectrum, though some new frequencies are planned that aren't supported by international devices. Otherwise you can get LTE service from pretty much every carrier in Japan assuming you have the right SIM card in. Even KDDI although you can't place calls on it because it tries to switch back to the CDMA CS domain and the phone is only GSM/WCDMA/LTE compatible
(See the attached pic for my status on KDDI LTE network with the international note 3). Also KDDI LTE sucks in Tokyo because they only use a 5Mhz bandwidth. Better get Softbank, DoCoMo or emobile for a better service. Emobile doesn't have LTE cells in subway tunnels though while the other carriers do.

Excellent information, very useful. I'm not in Tokyo so subway coverage isn't a main concern. Is it even possible to buy an unlocked Note 3 in Japan? Emobile sounds interesting, never heard about them, the only non-traditional carrier I know is Willcom. My main usage will be as a PDA rather than a phone and I expect to use it as a mobile router and tether with tablets, Ultrabook and laptop, so a fast unrestricted mobile data plan is essential, back home my data volume hovered around 100 GB a month, geospatial database usage.

Emobile offers unlimited data service for rekatively cheap and can fall back to softbank 3G when there is no LTE available. It can't use Softbank LTE though. It's data only, it doesn't offer voice plans.
It's the best quality/price service for tablets and computers.
Yes you can but an unlocked note 3 IF imported. Otherwise you can buy one from DoCoMo xi and get it unlocked later, not sure if Softbank offer that service.
The only unrestricted LTE data service that I know of is emobile, all the other services are capped.

Man, you have some hard core specific knowledge about the Japanese mobile market. How would I get a Note 3 and use it with emobile? Can I get a Note 3 from DoCoMo with only voice and add emobile data? If memory serves the big three all had data limitations on their plans, and coming from Europe I'm flabbergasted at how willing the Japanese consumer is to pay through their collective noses like they were proud of being suckers.

Hum... since the none of the models sold in Japan aren't dual SIM, the only way to use DoCoMo for voice and emobile for data would be to use a mifi. Emobile has offers with those. I am using one right now while in Japan and they work great.

This works! I wonder if this affect the LTE because I think it modifies the modem. Have you notice a difference?

I have an unlocked note 3 simply I went into the AT&T store where I live and said unlock it or I won't buy it and bam they did it. I have a simple pay as you go T-Mobile card popped it in, input the code and unlocked I was. I had to buy the phone outright so was costly but not at all risky. LTE showed up just fine on the T-Mobile network.

You lucky mother fu
I asked at&t here about that since i bought one full price and they said, to call customer service. So did the next day and they "couldnt" give me the network code. I honestly dont care about an unlock as I'm on At&t.
The only difference is that you're phone wont be region unlocked. Sim unlock and region unlock are different.
Did you buy your phone full price/off contract?

Yeah I did buy it full price out of contract. As for the region unlock luckily we still have Chainfires method for that fix.

Thats kinda of upsetting. I walked into the store and told them I wanted one full price and they were like "There's no 'full price', its just at&t next and you pay it off all at once if you want". I went online and showed them the option to do full price OR next, and they said they couldn't sell full price in the store. Didn't understand that because my s3 and note 3 were both full price at the store, Plus I've found deals with coupons online and they've matched it before! I hate when I go somewhere and I know more than the person working with me (I think he was just trying to get more commission off me.IDK). : They made me wait longer for the phone than I should've too. Guess my store here just sucks :rolleyes
Kudos to you. Wish that would've happened to me!

I had herd a lot of horror stories like this before I went it but I knew my facts as it seems you do too. An I was just very blunt and studdorn, but also polite. I explained I travel to Europe all the time since I am English and I refuse to pay international rates. An I guess I got the 1 guy in all AT&T that was willing to go to bat for me.

Wasn't EE orange and t mobile joining? I have to verify the lte band support they offer and chose one based on what my unit is compatible with. There is O2 also.

That's exactly right yeah so you will probably have your best chance with them since your using a T-Mobile device here.

Hi all
I have an upcoming trip to Las Vegas.
Where can I get the LTE MODEL (N9005) completely unlocked including regional unlocked.
Looking for a shop where I can pick it up and check it out before I leave.
I may have a connection in London too.
Any ideas where I can find this device at those two destinations ?
Thanks !

In London Phones4U normally have them in stock Sim-free. Not cheap though - £620. http://www.phones4u.co.uk/shop/shop_justphones_details.asp?Itemkey=714026 probably cheaper in US, if you can get the 9005 there.
Alternatively, you may find a boxed one on Gumtree in the UK but it'll be a private sale, cash only and riskier.

Just buy a regular sim-free with best price and region unlock it from ebay (easy and guaranteed)

Got my European model direct from amazon.co.uk over Christmas for around £480 I think it was

What do you mean by "region unlock it from ebay" ?
What i constantly see is N9005 mentioned as SIM Free but many are Region locked to EU.
i dont want to patch the device or hack it.
thanks

Just an FYI - the N9005 isn't compatible with US LTE bands (T-Mo *may* work) so you'd only get 3G/H+ only. -- assuming you are US Based obviously.
