hey fellow members,
k, so I've been having this issue where there's no signal and the baseband is unknown. This has been happening ever since I flashed KitKat and usually after I reboot the phone, the signal/baseband would pop up after about an hour or if I'm travelling around town.
When I did receive signal, there was no audio during calls so I decided to flash the kitkat factory image hoping it would solve all these issues but now the signal never shows up and the baseband is still unknown. Then I flashed jellybean 4.2 factory image and the problem doesn't exist, I receive signal immediately and audio during call worked so I ruled out a possible hardware issue.
I've also read through the other dozen of threads with similar problems but none of those solutions seem to solve the issue.
I have no clue what's going on and any help would be great

Sounds like a radio issue. Try flashing the latest radio, which is .98 I do believe.

Does your phone have a valid imei? I'm just guessing here as I've seen posts from N4 owners that lost their imei during a flash or update process.

So why not (for the meantime) go back to 4.3 or 4.2? Get it to work, then let us know the radio it is using and go from there.

Hi guys,
I recently bought the nexus 4 (4.2.2 , Baseband : .48) but like some others i am having problems with phone calls. I can receive and make them but cannot hear anything when i do (a dial or voices). Skype,Viber etc works no problem so it is just GSM calls. My sim card works in other phones perfectly. Other peoples sim cards do not work in my phone, so it is not my sim or carrier and must be the phone.
So now i want to downgrade to 4.2.1 in the hope it will fix whatever the problem is. I was hoping someone could help me with the most basic straight forward solution. I have nothing on the phone as it is brand new, so backing up data doesn't matter. All i want to do is put 4.2.1 on it.
I have a mac.
Thanks in advance
Before downgrading go to settings > Apps > All > Phone > clear cache and clear data. See if that fixes it.

Nothing will help either change the phone or try other carriers.
I have been facing this problem and tried everything, sadly i am in india and bought the phone from US.
You can give a try to .33 radio and there is a fix in original android development forum by name Fix for no in call audio.
That didnt work for me, try if it works for you and also let me know as well.

You already unlocked the boot loader and installed a recovery..so therefore your phone has already voided the warranty. lol.
You need the .48 baseband nevertheless. That baseband comes with the 4.2.2 update.

Warranty isn't voided. Does it say its voided when you unlock the bootloader? Yeah. but in reality, it really isn't.
If anything, you can always fastboot flash back to stock and relock the bootloader.
If you were on a HTC device and you unlocked your bootloader via HTCDev..... then yes your bootloader voided your warranty but since this is a Nexus device. There is no way for them to know that you did lock your bootloader.
I honestly think its a software problem and has nothing to do with the phone itself.

The only thing you can do is flash the whole factory image from here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images followed by a data factory reset and hope that works, otherwise its a hardware issue.

I've seen people having problems with old radios on 4.3. Apparently, the .84 radio fixes it (or the hybrid ones).
Quick google search and this popped up - I WONDER IF YOU COULD HELP ??
I've tried a few different radio settings via the LTE modem flasher with success and tested all fine then a few days later it reverts back to IN CALL SOUND ONLY via speaker
has anyone had the issue and found the cure - LMGTFY hasn't come up with any solid info :good:
Anyone have these or know where to get them? I've looked around to no avail. Since CM didn't upgrade them we all have to do it ourselves... I'd rather not have to go through the agony of going back to stock and probably not doing it right, so figured I'd try flashing the drivers. Real tired of my GPS not working at all, and all the other radios just barely hanging on.
Your help is appreciated!
What do you mean by baseband drivers? Do you mean modem? Then you can flash them yourself true Odin. Keep in mind that CM is experimental, so that could be the problem of your GPS problem.

There has been a JIRA ticket open on it since October with many users and different phones having the problem. Anyone who has fixed it themselves has done whatever specific thing for each phone needs to be done to update the modems. It doesn't seem like CM is going to include the modem drivers in a nightly so it's up to each user to do it themselves .

What you need to do is just pick one of the latest modems. If you don't know which one just try a few 4.4.2 modems. It doesn't have to be exact.

I just got done installing the latest firmware for my specific phone, and am restoring my CM backup now. I also found that they stopped using a comprehensive jflte package and there are now new ones for each type. They stopped doing that late last year and apparently restarted it this month. Hi there, fellow enthusiasts!
My phone doesn't connect to WiFi when the screen is off. As soon as I turn it on, it's good to go; connects within 2 seconds or so which is great. I'm just wondering why it doesn't connect to WiFi when the screen is off. I've tried every option possible and for well over a year now it just doesn't go thru with screen off automatically. I've switched ROMs, done stock, you name it.
It's annoying to have to take the phone out of my pocket, wake it up, and then check my notifications; it should be doing this automatically. I know it does this with data fine but I don't use my phone like that, I'm a WiFi only kinda guy.
Help me troubleshoot. Any help would be of so much help. Thanks!

Modem: MDM9615M
Bootloader: L720VPUAMF9
ROM: CyanogenMod 12.1-20151012 jfltespr
From what I can gather the WiFi needs to poll more when the screen is off. Once in a blue it'll connect with screen off (may take up to 2 hours) to a known SSID. I'm not concerned about battery life with more polling, honestly. It'd be way more convenient to not have to turn my phone on to connect to an SSID.
I believe it used to work on 4.4 but I can't be sure. That thread I linked to said the behavior started on 5.1 if that's helpful.

Ok
The issue you are having was a common issue, but no one has that issue anymore. If I remember correctly that issue happens when you are running an old modem on new firmware. The wifi disconnects when you turn the screen off.
You are using a 4.2.2. bootloader and a 4.2.2. modem with a Lollipop rom. Why haven't you upgraded to a Lollipop bootloader and modem?

It's not that my WiFi turns off when the phone is asleep. It'll stay on whatever WiFi I'm connected to, but as soon as I am out of range from it, it obviously will disconnect BUT then it doesn't connect to any other WiFi in range unless I turn the screen on first.
