What you are experiencing is normal. The service runs unless you totally uninstall it.

For some reason everytime I restart my phone and check Titanium Backup there's an app called "contactsunconnected.apk" that's frozen. I always unfreeze it, but the next time I restart my phone it's frozen again. I've google searched like crazy and I can't find ANYWHERE that tells what this file does. Do you guys know? Why does it keep freezing? Should I leave it frozen? Should I always defrost it? Ugh, this is frustrating.

Hi
Just thought I'd ask to see what people have successfully frozen without a hitch from the stock apps.
I've frozen all of Social Hub (SNS items) and the other hubs successfully.
Just wondering about some of the more obscurely named items!

Use Titanium Backup to freeze apps. It's a great way to see what apps you can remove, without actually removing them. If anything goes wrong, you just unfreeze
Personally, I went into the app list in Titanium and filtered by the word "sams" and froze all those apps. I then also froze "Wifi Sharing", since that's been one of the most heavily reported battery draining apps.
Doing this virtually doubled my battery life. I'm not saying it will for everyone, as we all have different configurations, but it made a drastic difference for me.

There's a thread about it in the apps & themes section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069924 somewhere in it there's a link to a spreadsheet which lists all the stock apks, their name as displayed by Titanium Backup, what they do and even a download link should you remove something you shouldn't have...
@ Bilen: you need root and titanium backup (the free version can only remove apps, the paid version has the added freeze option)
Here's the spreadsheet:

Did have.the same issue but only lasted a little while until rebooted.
Just wondering, have you tried logging out of your account and re entering it?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Yes, i did login and logout from my account. I did solve my problem already though. apparently, when I played with the market tools in titanium I inadvertently linked several apps to google play that were not supposed to be linked in the first place. I had to go through them and unlink them via titanium and it fixed the problem. I downloaded MARKET FIXER to determine which apps needed to be unlinked.
Hope this thread would be of help to anybody who would experience the same problem.
I do wonder if they're tweaking some settings with the new play market... I did a hard reset (because I froze stock dialer.... Big mistake ;-) ) and since, on usual dpi settings that have always worked before, 200, 240, I'm getting the error my device is not supported... Googled it and there are a lot of new posts about this since the update. Dunno if it's related.
I do have titanium but have never touched the market settings...

This is an old issue and it is caused by the Gallery and a few other system settings being mistakenly linked to the Google Play market which leads to the removal of the apps in My Apps section.
Indeed the best solution is Market Fixer as the OP has discovered above and the link is below:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kstudio.marketfixer
You usually only need to remove the system app market links to get it to work. This procedure needs to take place after every firmware update too. Before the apps return after using the Market Fixer, you can download a free app and install it from the Market to refresh your apps.
Yes that works perfectly, but you have to know that now your google account is corrupted for life with those system apps liked to it. Now everytime you flash or update a rom, you will have to go through this to get back a functioning market... sucks big time. F***ing titanium backup, and me for being stupid and use it to screw with the market... oh well, I have good health so that is what is important, it's just a phone...
Hi there.
I have a Xperia Play with .042 firmware (stock ROM), and only rooted (locked bootloader).
My phone works well, but sometimes feels a bit laggy. I've noticed in the Running Apps list that a lot of times Google Maps turns on even if I didnt open it, and it causes me a lot of that lag, so I have to close it and then the Xplay works well again.
So, my question is, can I uninstall Google Maps and then reinstall it from the Play Store as a non-system app? This should stop thet the app opens itself on its own...
What problems can cause uninstalling Google Maps?
I don't think making it a non system app will stop it from running in the back. I just uninstalled it altogether

It's just Google spying on you. No need to worry.
If you are not sure just freeze it with titanium backup or system tuner pro or something. Nothing will happen if you uninstall it tho.

Use an app called Autostarts to control which apps start automatically and when. No need to uninstall or freeze anything. Its like msconfig/startup manager for android. Its a root app so it gets the job done properly, meaning it stops apps from starting in the first place, not one of those useless apps which kills them after they start.

Good idea. I've frozen it and for now my Xplay goes perfect.

I'll give it a try. Thanks.
I have a D-802 on CM.
Sometimes in some other app I get a message for example 'YouTube has stopped working' then I think why would it even run in the background when I have not even opened it, I am suspicious that there must be more apps running in the background all the time which reduce the battery life.
How do I disable some apps from running in the background without even being opened?
Sent from my LG-D802 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Your right. Im sure there are more apps that runs that you dont know. Install titanium backup and freeze it from there.
Root it and greenfy them This is better than Titanium because it freez the applications you have choosen when you close them, and unfreez then automaticly when you open them

I'll try this, but I was expecting to find an app which have simple settings to allow or disallow certain apps in the background, for example, Afwall+ which greatly controls which apps connect to the internet.

I've been using Greenify for a while now and it seems to work great. Really simple to use.
