What is contactsunconnected.apk? - Droid X General

For some reason everytime I restart my phone and check Titanium Backup there's an app called "contactsunconnected.apk" that's frozen. I always unfreeze it, but the next time I restart my phone it's frozen again. I've google searched like crazy and I can't find ANYWHERE that tells what this file does. Do you guys know? Why does it keep freezing? Should I leave it frozen? Should I always defrost it? Ugh, this is frustrating.

Downloaded apps not appearing in "my apps"

I've never had issues with this until last night. I went to my apps to see if there were any updates, and only two apps were showing up. I cleared the cache and data under manage applications, but that did nothing.
I ended up restoring a nandroid from right after I rooted. All of my apps were showing again. Then I selected update all and went to bed... when I checked my phone this morning it showed notifications for all the updates, but the market said I only had 4 downloaded apps.
So am I the only one experiencing this? Or did something get updated and I'm just unaware of what is up?

Yea I've had this problem too..I find it easiest downloading by clicking the link for every individual app

The first time I tried rebooting and it didn't fix it... but after I restored my old backup and they disappeared again, I rebooted and it has been fine since

[Q] Gwang-Jyu Subway App?

After installing appbrain and syncing with my epic, it shows an app called "Gwang-Jyu Subway." Now I know I never installed this app so I chose to uninstall it. On my phone it says I am trying to uninstall "system update" and it does not allow it. The entry for this app in the android market says that it had been removed. Google for the author "hyun min cho" and samsung resulted in me finding this http://www.linkedin.com/pub/hyunmin-cho/25/5aa/663. What is this app that appbrain is finding? This seems potentially shady. Did some samsung engineer try to shove his own app in the phone as "system update?"
Does anyone know what this is?
To clarify: The only way to see the name of this app as Gwang-Ju Subway is to log onto the appbrain website. The phone itself identifies it as "samsung updates." I wiped the phone with the stock EB13 build using the .exe tool and installed appbrain immediately after. This app shows up on the phone. After syncing with appbrain and logging onto the appbrain site. I can't find any good information as to what is going on here anywhere.
Can you remove it through adb or terminal emulator?

Phone seems to think its a system file. I don't know what exactly I need to be entering to remove it.
The entry for this app on appbrain is http://www.appbrain.com/app/gwang-ju-subway/com.samsung. Is the "com.samsung" making this a false identification?
I just installed ERA Go Green, and found this as well... but I don't have app brain. It shows up in "my apps" in the market, but is not installed. the only thing that may have caused it was using Market doctor in Titanium backup. If it tried to link the com.samsung apps, it would have found this program...
I've noticed this before too, but it was when I was using AppBrain. I chalked it up to a confusion with AppBrain, but I never looked into it too deeply. I remember the number of downloads being quite small, so I don't think it's some rogue Samsung app, as there would be many more instances of it if that were the case.
Freeze it...or uninstall it...problem solved. I think you need it for ota updates.

It is a bug. The Gwang-Jyu app is using the same name (com.samsung or something like that) as a Samsung System app. So when appbrain reads the apps installed on your phone, it pulls in the subway app.
I believe appbrain fixed it.

I agree with everything here except for the last line. The problem is with AppBrain, not your phone. The Gwang-Ju app was pulled off the market long ago, but they've kept this entry in their database, and so one of our internal processes is falsely identified as this app that barely ever existed. Ignore it. Don't go freezing random system apps.
Freezing system update doesn't have any ill effects. I've done it, and you just need to unfreeze it if you need anything updated, like PRL or something else. If you put a certain PRL on there for some specific reason, freezing this is what will enable you to keep that PRL so Sprint won't roll it back.

I dont have app brain and never had but this app is showing up in my andriod market it says it is unavailable if I click on it but it still shows up. I think it has to do with me restoring market links with Titanium backup. But I cant seem to find it in TB to freeze delete or detach the market link.

application twlauncher force close is driving me crazy!!!

Ok so my Wife decided to install some ANti-virus app and has completly F'd it up! i cant seem to get it to load the application Tab in order to get to the settings. I tried the steps in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943505) but all i get is the task manager and even after uninstalling the anti-virus app i am still having this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If you can, hold the search button, and voice search for anything. You should be in the browser, download launcherpro or some other launcher from the web, install it, then press home. You should be able to get to the settings now. Let me know if this helps/works.

Market Issues

Is anyone else having issues with the Market? For the last few days it keeps saying I have updates available for the same 8 apps Angry Birds, Titanium Backup, Evernote, etc. I've updated them and then the next day the same apps have updates available. Today there were additional apps that needed updates along with the same group. Anyone else have this problem?

Wipe data and cache...that may help!
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I wiped cache, didn't help but did speed up my Market app. I'll wipe data after my phone charges since it just died.
new update, so I decided to try and update individually, after selecting Angry Birds for instance inside it only has options for Open and Uninstall. So it seems internally it knows its up to date but in the list view it doesn't.
What is happening to you is definitely freaky. I would try to wipe the app cache and then use cache cleaner and clear all of the caches. Then i would reboot and see what happens.

Update: deleted cache and data. Deleted backup of Market app in Titanium and deleted data of Market through Titanium also. Restarted phone and now works normal.
Quick note, last night i let the phone's battery drain fully and charged it over night. Turned it on this morning and it went into Recovery. Restarted phone and ot started up normal. There seems to be a gremlin lurking somewhere.

Update again: well thought it was fixed. But happened again, this time had 2 updates and first one was fine but second one which was Sketchbook Express only had the Open and Uninstall option! Maybe I should've just used the update all. Emailed Android and they suggested uninstalling Market updates and it will update back to latest market version in a few days. They said if it happens again to email them again.
Old market works fine for now. Saw Sketchbook had an update and updated it. We'll see how this goes and keep you guys updated. If this keeps up maybe I'll just reset the whole phone and go to CM7.

I am having similar issues. For some reason only paid apps show is the "My Apps" list. After installing and uninstalling a single app all apps show, but only temporarily. This is getting really annoying.
I have also seen that google does know about the problem, but im not sure how that will help lol
Must have something to do with the latest market and handling videos. Well atleast I know I'm not alone now.

Google Maps is my problem...

Hi there.
I have a Xperia Play with .042 firmware (stock ROM), and only rooted (locked bootloader).
My phone works well, but sometimes feels a bit laggy. I've noticed in the Running Apps list that a lot of times Google Maps turns on even if I didnt open it, and it causes me a lot of that lag, so I have to close it and then the Xplay works well again.
So, my question is, can I uninstall Google Maps and then reinstall it from the Play Store as a non-system app? This should stop thet the app opens itself on its own...
What problems can cause uninstalling Google Maps?
I don't think making it a non system app will stop it from running in the back. I just uninstalled it altogether
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk 2
It's just Google spying on you. No need to worry.
If you are not sure just freeze it with titanium backup or system tuner pro or something. Nothing will happen if you uninstall it tho.

Use an app called Autostarts to control which apps start automatically and when. No need to uninstall or freeze anything. Its like msconfig/startup manager for android. Its a root app so it gets the job done properly, meaning it stops apps from starting in the first place, not one of those useless apps which kills them after they start.

Good idea. I've frozen it and for now my Xplay goes perfect.
