When i went from htc one to n3 i just signed in to WhatsApp and it restored everything it self

But I used another country's number to sign in and then changed to another one, is there a way to get the data back from the old number??

Copy the whatsapp folder from oldphone and put it into your note 3 internal sd under same folder name. Then install whatsapp and will ask you if you want to restore. ... You say yes and get all your files and messages back. ..

Before that. Make sure on your old phone that you go on Whatsapp. Then to the settings>chat settings>backup now. Then you will have the latest backup, copy whatsapp/databases to your new phone in the same DIR and then restore.

Where is my backup?

For some reason I can't find the backup I made in the clockworkmod folder... Am I missing something? Thanks for any help..

Your backup is still in the old place (where pre-4.2 saved it). As 4.2 has multi-user support you now see /sdcard/0/xxx which CWM doesn't see
So how would we go about restoring it?

Backed up through recovery...is it supposed to be 4 gigs large?

Hey guys
I backed up my phone with TWRP and the file itself was 4 gigs! Is it supposed to be this large? It took up a large chunk of my space on my phone that I am now trying to flash a rom with..any idea?

Yes they are that large for a touchwiz. AOSP backups are about 1.2 GBs

what's the difference and how can I get that? I am about to back it up and just save it on the computer and delete the back up itself to save space.
Also, how can i tell if i am de odexed or odexed?
I am rooted, however.

Aosp is pure Android. Like you get on the nexus devices. And touchwiz is Samsung's bloatware that is thrown on.
Use root explorer and go into system/app and if some APKs have an .odex file following it by the same name then you are on an odexes ROM.

Also next time you do a backup, make sure you back up to the external card, otherwise it uses all that space on your phone's internal memory.
Delete cache and dalvik before backing up. The size will go down significantly

Enable compression also.

Also make sure when you go to run your backup, make sure that system, boot, and data are the only options checked off. I've boot into recovery and noticed more than 3 were checked off for some odd reason

There is an app on the market called app2zip which might do what you're looking for. I've used it before to make a zip of Titanium Backup and it worked well. But it hasn't been updated since last year.

Titanium Backup can create an update zip of itself or of all the apps+data that you have backup up.

how??
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
Backup your apps & data as usual
Next look under Batch Items - Recovery mode - Create "update.zip" from app+data backups.
Click on Run
You can then give the update.zip a name (or leave it as is) and select which apps to include.
Finally click on the green tick in the top right.

To create an update.zip of just titanium backup, on the front screen of TB press your menu button to bring up the Main Menu.
Scroll to the bottom and find "Special Features". Under that heading click on "Create "update.zip" ..."
Good luck.

Always asks for default launcher

I just updated to 4.4.2 [Note 3 n9005] UK firmware from SamMobile and rooted using CF-AutoRoot
Now, my problem is when ever i reboot my device it asks for Launcher.
I have also set TouchWiz Home as default Launcher in settings but.
Try using another launcher (set it as default) and freeze the default launcher with Titanium Backup and see if that problem exists. And another thing; When it asks you to select a default launcher, do you select always?

Do you use SD Card? If yes try formatting it after you copy all the files to your pc and slowly copy the files again to find a corrupted file/app. Maybe that file is the reason of this. If you cant find any corrupted files on your card try factory reset.

I had this same sd card before updating so it shouldnt be the reason.

Still a new app you installed or a file can cause a problem. Also try freezing some apps(preferably recently installed ones) with Titanium Backup and check if issue still persists. If yes, i think best choice is factory reset.

In addition to previous post - Make sure you know what you are freezing and be sure that this app is not vital resource to Android, otherwise you may end up in a bootloop.

Backing Up And Restoring ???

Hi Guys i am going to buy a new device tomorrow and sell my nexus 4 i'd like to know what is the easiest way to backup all my data from this device and restore it to my new device ?...
Thanks !
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Titanium backup should work, but don't restore any system apps. If you want pics, music etc copy then to your pc and copy then back to your new device
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
You can also use Helium Backup, it will backup everything including contacts and Apps
