Hello, I'm trying to help a friend fix their wallaby, it turns on & has white scrren with keyboard icon in bottom right corner. Have tired flashing from SD card but get msg stating invalid key. Is there some clear, concise instructions on what to load onto the SD card and how to then flash ie what software and what buttons to push? I've tried a search and not had much success. Thanks

sd card but in bootloader
device dose not show sd down

I am running CM7 build cyanogenmod-7-05252011-NIGHTLY-encore booting from my 8GB sandisk microSD card.
I try to use ROM Manager v4.3.1.3 to respond to the notifications that a new nightly build (#95 now # 96) is available. I follow the steps to install the update including GAPPS. The resulting recovery process, after downloading the update, does not update the build. I then keep getting the notifications that a new update is available.
I copied the latest stable build of CM7 for the CN to the root of my SD card and tried to install it using ROM Manager. Same result.
It seems that the recovery process is not finding the update images. See the attached output of the recovery process.
Could the recovery process be looking for updates in the internal memory rather than the SD?
How do I ensure that the update will update the SD build and not the stock install ?
The only way I've had success is to put the SD card in my PC & then I see the actual root of the card. If I use the USB connection the root directory is not mounted. Sorry if this is obvious, but it wasn't for me at first.
Cheers,
kev
I don't know where rom manager downloads the images to, but I used your suggested method to copy the stable build. It shows up OK in rom manager but when selected to install by rom manager the recovery process produces the same output as noted in my attachment....with no update.

What happens if you boot into recovery? Does it see the update?
Oh, when you mount the SD card in the PC is the drive named "Boot"?
Cheers,
kev
The picture attached to my original post shows the results of booting into recovery mode. Yes the SD drive is named Boot in my PC.
I did find a post which said that rom manager installs of the CM7 nightly updates will only update an install on the internal memory, not the SD card.
With that in mind I will leave it alone and concentrate on playing with my alternate SD install of the Honeycomb build which is very slick !! I wish only wish a more stable version was available.
In the meantime I am still awaiting an autoroot for NC 1.2 before I take the plunge to replace the B&N stock.

I think that CWR does exactly that. It's made for recovery with an emmc rooted install.
Pull the SD and put the nightly build directly on the root "\boot". Rename the nightly by preceding the name with "update-" and then the rest of the file name. Reinsert the SD and boot. Before you see the green cyanogen splash, hold down the "n" (Home) key and you'll see it say something like "booting into menu" You can release the "n" key at that point. You'll get a screen that will allow you you to boot to the sd (or emmc) and recovery. The update will install from that point.
good afternoon
I have an ACER Iconia Tab to 500 HC 3.2 and using the second method of this post (Revert OTA 3.2 back to 3.0.1) and gets the android logo and a yellow triangle, someone might say it is?
Or if someone knows how to connect this tablet in Windows XP
thanks
Did you remember to extract the zip file that was in that post? The file that is to be extracted is update_not_stable.zip. Once you extract that, there should be a file that is called "update.zip". Make sure that is the file that is on your external SD card.
yes, I put the update.zip on the microsd and also have put the update.zip for content if that, but it works.
thanks
So does that mean you got it to work? I'm not sure if I fully understand your last post.
my English is disastrous to use a translator to express myself. Did not mean that workers but does not perform the recovery
Could you possibly outline the steps your performed so far, and perhaps I or someone more knowledgeable than I can offer better assistance.
I followed the steps are:
1 - I downloaded the file.
2 - I've extracted and copied to the microsd (update.zip) formatted to fat32
3 - I turned on the Iconium and has begun "erasing cache beforing SD update... booting recovery kernel image"
4 - android robot appears with a band and then carrying out erde a triangle with an exclamation in the middle of the icon.
Hmmmmm, I can't see anything that jumps out at me as being some wrong.
The update.zip is still zipped right? You right clicked on "downgrade_not_stable", extracted that, removed update.zip and out that file (which will be unzipped) into the root of your external SD card.
There is also the off chance that the file you downloaded got corrupted for whatever reason. If it won't work perhaps you can try to download it again and follow the steps.
hello,
i have the same problem. I did the same : unzipped, put on the external sdcard the file and I have the logo of the bot with the yellow triangle..
I downloaded again and again, restart from the beginning and I can't downgrade.
someone has an idea why it doesn't work ?
Thanks
same issue with mine... not too sure why i'm getting the error as I've been able to do things with the SD card before, so I don't think its an SD card problem.
Not SD problem
I already tried with differentes SD cards. They all work, but unable to start the downgrading !!
Maybe the file is not compatible with my tablet. How can we check ?

What tab to you have? The A500?
Make sure that it is the file "update.zip" that is on your sd card. Make sure this update.zip is still a zipped file.
Other than that, I don't know what could be wrong. I did the downgrade with no issues.
Thanks for the answer.
My tablet is an iconia A500.
I unzipped the file downloaded, that gave an update.zip. I put it on the SD card. The tablet recognized the file but stop just after find it.
I have no idea whatelse to do.
TRy and try again.
Finally it worked !!!
It was a download problem in fact for me.
I hope it can help.
maybe i'll try downloading on another computer (this one has XP?) and see if that makes a lick of difference. this is getting frustrating.
Still no go. Even did everything just on the iconia and still get the yield sign when trying to recover during boot.
Hi , I did it right now and it worked , installed iconiaroot and CWM and all went fine, but I have another problem now :
external miniSD can't be seen anymore and I'm not able to install any custom rom . If I go to recovery and pushing "install zip from" : it always goes to E: directory sdcard (and it 's not found)
Is there anyone that can help me ?
Thanks
Ramp
Hello,

Great that It worked for you, It doesn't work for me, do you think this will work with a USB since I can't get it to work with an SD

Anyone can help?

Common problem, LOTS of posts in here about the same thing over the last few months.
You'll need to reformat your SD in another device, preferably a proper PC, or try a different card (maybe a smaller one).
Today, many hours ago, i wanted to install the
[ROM][22/1/12][U8800][MIUI][v2.1.20][MULTILINGUAL][2.6.35 Kernel]
I came from the
[ROM][15/01/2012][U8800][MIUI][v2.1.20][MULTILINGUAL][2.6.32 Kernel]
So first changed my CWM into version ClockworkMod [v5.5.0.4]
I first pasted the new rom on my U8800 (previous versions i also had the network problems so needed latest version) SD card, then did the new CWM install and after this i lost all sound and mic...
I tryed to install the new ROM but still the network problem...
So i did my back-up but again no sound/mic/vibrate working...
After this i wanted to put an older rom or maybe CWM back on my SD card but now the SD can't be written on...
What can i do now...
Someone plz help me... Now my phone doesn't have network or any sound, vibrate also isn't working...
Best regards VdBRoald
Try to update from internal sd?
Also, the newer MIUI requires you to install official 2.3.5 before you install it. The newer has different kernel .35 that is required for all functions to work. (Batterystat , network, wlan, etc.)

thx for reply,
The inside memory is to small for installing a ROM and atm i only have the Build-in SD card, the one that is now write protected for a reason...
Because i came from another rom i think it isn't needed for first upgrading my standard version into 2.3.5...?
Best regards
Trust me, it is needed. .35 roms don't work unless you have first installed official 2.3.5.
Buy sdcard and try to install from there.
Try to mound/unmoung sd in cwm and try to install then.

Try first to mount sd card on pc and check it for errors with windows check disk app. I don' t think that the card is damaged. Then you need to put dload folder from 2.3.5 official rom package(instructions are on package' s pdf file) and flash it from bootloader by pressing vol+,vol-,power when device is off.
The SD card isn't damaged , just is write protected now...
Tryed to mount/unmount in CWM but gives an error (because of problem mensioned i think...)
I can buy a new one but i hope it doesn't reaches that point... :x
Put the card in a card reader and mount it on pc. I don' t think that you have problems then.
It is a build-in SD card so i can't reach it... :'(
edit:Just wanted to dl the official 2.3.5 release from Huawei.
But all sites seems to have deleted the file...
Do you have 5.5.0.4 recovery? I had same problem with that.
Try to change your recovery to Genokolars 5.0.2.7 or the official 5.0.2.6 one.
Firstly, you should've updated your base ROM to B522, then flash MIUI. The problem for your case is that the new kernel does not work with the old base.
Here's what you should do:
Flash B522.
Flash CWM.
Flash MIUI.
How can i do this without an sd card that can be written ons?
I Will do this after i found the solution for the SD card problem, then i can copy new files on it...
PS: factory reset also doesn't work because off problems
You change the recovery in PINK SCREEN not in internal sd card.
Change the recovery, then youll be able to access sd, at least I did.

Use another phone or, even a camera. Insert the micro SD to that, connect to USB, make folder dload on the card, copy the update.app into there and do the steps I wrote before.
All already thx for the comments, i just got a new sd card, for the low cost of 8euro i don't bother for more trouble handling with that. So now i'am trying to do everything with my new card.
It was a hard start because it wasn't working well in beginning, i put the files off the first step true pc (in SD holder) and is now installing the new firmware... let's hope that all the rest will go a bit easyer
Thx a lot to all the replyers and specially to Blefish!
Everything is working perfect now!
The only thing i now have to do is search for some nice ring and message tones
Finally i can call and be called again
