How can we tell the difference between the regular SIM and the secure one? I'm pretty sure I used the SIM that came with the N3 (I was under the impression that this was the "secure" SIM) and ISIS says it requires a SIM with the secure element. I also Googled secure SIM to see a pic and it appears I have the correct one.

I've got a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 that was with Sprint and has a good ESN but not sure if it is unlocked. In fact I'm fairly unclear about that as I do have an MSL utility which gave me an MSL code for it but that doesn't mean it is unlocked or does it? I installed a new activated micro SIM from Ptel Mobile in it and have been trying to change APN setting per their directions but .... I can't find APN settings where
they should be under Settings > Connections > More Networks > Mobile Networks. APN setting are simply not there as all the screenshots show that I've seen.
I also installed the app 'Change APN' and while I could type in all the need settings it would not save them and nothing showed up after hitting 'Save'. I've searched here and everywhere and everything seems to be about how to change the settings or what to change them too but I can't even see them in the normal settings.
Is it possible the new SIM card is bad? I have changed the settings for CDMA to GSM/UMTS
When checking around in Service Mode for SIM info I see this:
Slot1 Information
Slot 1 No SIM -sim phase
Slot 1 No SIM -app type
Slot 1 No SIM -voltage
??? bad SIM ? or Incorrect SIM ?
Some more info I just found in Service Mode from QMI UIM STATUS:
Active Slot: SLOT 1
CARD_STATE: Error
CARD_ERROR: SIM_Lock
APP_TYPE: NONE
APP_STATE: Unknown
APP_STATE ILLEGAL ?: NO
PERSO_STATE: Unknown
PERSO_FEATURE: NW
Also on the SIM Info screen it says "Card Lock: NOT Happened"
there was more but probably not relevant. Any one who can interpret what these are telling me I will very much appreciate it. So far
it sounds like a bad SIM or is this phone Locked ? and that is causing this issue? I've gotten the MSL code for it if that's relevant.
Lost in a sea of info ...
I guess I should have guessed it. I dug around for days trying to find if this was SIM locked and could never find out for sure but finally found a place in the hidden service menu that states SIM lock is enabled. Found my way to that info in OP of this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2593305
Now how to Unlock. Seems that thread seems to say you need Sprint to International Unlock before you can go through that extensive process to Domestic unlock.
So I purchased a used note 3 ( N900A )
I just switch to straight talk. So I had a full size sim and cut it down to fit my note 3 . When I try to go into my apn setting it says insert a sim or something like that.
I know the sims registering , to the phone I can read stuff from it.
So has any one went down the road I am . Is my sim locked or something like that.
Also there is an app called "Sim App." it will first say icc-id and give what looks like about 15-16 numbers then click ok it reads imei check sum gives 4 digits next reads random number gives 8 numbers.
then asks for an unlock code . If entered wrong it will say you have X amount of trys lefts.
Does this have anything to do with why my sim card is not registering to the phone?
Do any sim card works in the phone? Does your sim card work in other phones? Was the phone tested with a sim card before purchase? Was the phone locked to AT&T?

Yes if I switch the card to the other phone . It works.
Im not sure if this matters the orginal phone was a throw away`alcatel. Its not a smart phone.
Are you using the SIM card in another phone that also uses a micro sim? Does the note 3 recognize any SIM cards?

I only have this one sim .
The note is reading the sim card with certain aps . You know how if you up power up a phone , missing a sim it will say so if you pull down the top banner usually with a message like insert sim. When you pull down the top banner it doesn't say that . There is no warning about missing a sim . So it recognizes it has one . I can read stuff off the sim card when i open certain aps that are meant to access sim cards but when I go to change APN setting it will say insert sim card to access network settings.
Without another sim card to try in the phone, it could be the way the sim card was cut or there is something wrong with the phone.
Is the phone sim unlocked? Did you try a sim card in the phone before buying it?

I dont think the phones sim is unlocked.
No I didnt try a sim . It was from a family member so Im not to worried. The sim card works in my throw away straight talk phone.
How do you unlock the phones sim?
BTW thank you for your help.
In order to determine if the phone is sim unlocked, power off the phone, insert a sim from another carrier, and power up the phone. If phone asks for a network unlock code, the phone is not sim unlocked and you will need to get an unlock code.
Was the Note 3 n900a from AT&T?
I wanted to find out following;
Is every S7 Edge Hardware capable of using dual SIM? I was wondering if I buy dual SIM tray for S7 Edge should I just be able to put into SIM cards provided the phone is unlocked and get service on both cards. I know it sounds too far-fetched but I was wondering did they really make separate motherboard for single Sim and dual SIM. I currently have AT&T S7 Edge with g935 U software on it. If something like that is possible I assume there would be some sort of software limitation or something needs to be enabled in the rom itself to make both SIM cards being recognizable , provided of course that phone has connections for two Sims.
I would seriously appreciate any input on this

no, not every model is dual sim capable. ON FD model. Part of the issue is that the phone must have two imeis for both sims to work together. most phones only have a single imei.
Hi Everyone, my research found that I can insert 2 Sims in any s8 but only on some market the 2nd tray is enabled. Seems that in Germany it is not.
Is there a way in how to unlock it? And use a normal s8 with dual sim and best would be still get OTA updates
The second tray for micro sd card I guess. Not for the SIM card.
No the tray allows to put in a sim also if you flip it 9. Degree
Also the duos version seem to contain the same hardware and same tray but work with dual sim so I guess it's only software deactivated
You need a second imei which only comes with the fd versions.
Just got the SM-P610 and liking it a lot. I noticed that the SD card tray has a spot for a SIM card as well. After looking in the slot it appears to have contacts for a SIM card to be accepted. Upon inserting my SIM and turning on the device it appears to not work. Now here's the question, Does the tablet have the hardware to actually accept a SIM card and connect to the towers. Along with that, is it software locked in some way? Can we bypass this lock somehow?
I guess the motherboard of the P610 and P615 are different, the frame with slot is standard for Galaxy Tab S6 lite
Boards and SIM/microSD reader are exactly the same between 610 and 615: https://fccid.io/A3LSMP615/Internal-Photos/2-A3LSMP615-Internal-photo-4647951 (see the "SM-P615/610" text printed on the boards) except that the 610 lacks some antennas and I guess the software is different too.
The pbc is the same between the two but the 610 is missing some ics, id assume they are for the lte.
Is it possible to put a sim card in SM-P610
