CM10 is now available.
Requirements: Root
From rooted stock or a custom rom, just download and install updated Rom Manager from the Play Store and download CM10 Nightly and GAPPS. Reboot into ClockWorkMod, factory wipe, disable signature check, flash CM10 twice. The first time partitions our tabs and reboots. Flashing a second time is for good measure. Then flash GAPPS. Done.
Note: I am not sure if Rom Manager can flash ClockworkMod directly. I personally updated from ICS > CM10 by downloading CM10 and GAPPS through GooManager and flashing manually in ClockWorkMod.
Its been reported that you can go directly from rooted stock to CM10. I've actually completed everything below to get to ICS first (Stock > ICS > CM10 JB).
CM10 is a much better experience. The tab works much better, doesn't freak out, lasts longer, plays better.
*********************************************
Wow. Lots of different, confusing, and scattered information about how to go from stock Gingerbread to the latest CM9 build. It is all very confusing and honestly most of the useful information isn't even on this site. So I figured I would help myself (and others) in creating a very detailed walkthrough of the process required to successfully get from GB to CM9 Build 7.
**This specifically outlines the methods to take a COMPLETELY STOCK Sprint Galaxy Tab 7" SPH-P100, unrooted, to a ICE CREAM SANDWICH rom. I "think" it might also work for the Verizon CDMA and a few others. I think the ROM itself is a general overall generic build for all 7" Gtabs. So heads up that if you have a different version, you might want to use this as a guide rather then a step-by-step.**
BACKUP EVERYTHING YOU MAY NEED BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY THIS PROCESS WILL FORMAT YOUR GALAXY TAB
GET CONNECTED!
We need to download Heimdall's App and his Drivers (Main URL). This is the first confusing steps as everyone suggests using an older version, but the included drivers don't work on newer Windows OS's. So you have to mix and match a few different versions to get it working. I've already compiled an archive with everything you need: Heimhall Mixture /w zImage & ClockWorkMod 5.0.2.7
1. Extract everything to a simple folder [ex. C:\GTABICS ]
2. Turn off Gtab. Hold VolDown+Power until you get to a downloading screen
3. C:\GTABICS\Drivers\zadiag.exe to load drivers [try running as Administrator]
4. C:\GTABICS\heimdall-frontend.exe to start the process
5. Kind of confusing. Focus on the "BROWSE" buttons. Look for "Kernel(zImage)" on the left and "Recovery" on the right. Hit browse for each one and select the appropriate file from C:\GTABICS. Obviously "Kernel(zImage)" = "zImage" and "Recovery" = "recovery.bin".
6. Make sure Kernel(zImage) and Recovery both have files selected and a checked box. While GTAB is at the black Downloading screen: Hit "START".
7. The process is pretty fast. Don't rush. At this point your tab will probably just bootloop anyway.
LET'S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD
Now you have ClockWorkMod installed and a proper kernel, most flashers will feel really at ease right now. But there are a few little quirks that will cause this to go bad. You have to install 2 versions of ICS to get to the latest; One using the existing partition table, and a second that will update to a newer format. You obviously have to install GAPPS like always with a CM rom, but not so fast, you have to manually "MOUNT /SYSTEM" in CWM before it will even take. And there is the fact that you have to manually open and edit the CM9 Build7 update and remove code....[holy crap].
But it is pretty easy once you go through it once.
REQUIRED FILES
JT1136 CM9 V5
JT1136 CM9 V7 UPDATE
GAPPS
Prepare CM9 v7 Update
1. On your PC, open "update-cm-9.0.0-RC0-galaxytab7c-KANG-BUILD7.zip" and browse to META-INF\com\google\android
2. Copy "updater-script" to your desktop and open with Notepad and remove the first 3 lines or just Download it.
3. Drag and drop the update-script back into the META-INF\com\google\android folder, overwriting the existing one.
If all goes well, you are now done with the PC.
COPY FILES AND FLASH
1. Copy Build5, the new Build7, and GAPPS to your microSD card.
2. Boot into ClockWorkMod: Power off. Hold VOLUP + POWER
3. Factory Reset / clear cache / wipe Dalvik Cache / Breathe
4. Flash zip from SDCard: locate Build5 and Flash
5. Factory Reset / clear cache / wipe Dalvik Cache / Breathe
5.5 [OPTIONAL] You should be able to boot into ICS at this point if you want to make sure build5 flashed properly before upgrading to build7
6. Flash zip from SDCard: locate Build7 and Flash
At this step, my GTab rebooted in the middle of the process the first time. It freaked me out but I assume (now) that since it changed the partition tables, it needed to reset. So I did it a second time just to be safe:
7. Flash zip from SDCard: locate Build7 and Flash
8. Factory Reset / clear cache / wipe Dalvik Cache / Breathe
Congrats. You should have a working bootable CM9 build. But lets flash GAPPS so we have our Google services. This is tricky.
9. Mounts and Storage > Mount /System
10. Flash zip from SDCard: locate GAPPS and Flash.
11. Finally [!] reset device and prepare for boot.
Now you are on the latest CM9 build [7] and have the latest GAPPS installed. Hopefully you are booting now and see the famous ICS Boot Animation. Have fun. In the future you should be able to simply download new roms as they are available and flash normally like you would any other device.

Convert to Sprint
The above procedure will set your Tab as a Verizon version. If you plan on using the Sprint cellular service or just want everything to match, then flash this via ClockWorkMod.

I didn't do any development work. All credit goes to Heimdall for his fantastic Recovery Flasher and jt1136 for his great stills porting this awesome rom over to our Galaxy Tabs. All I did was bump and grind my way through to see a successful working flash. I figured if I didn't post a walkthrough here, I would hate myself in 6 months when I boink something up and have to do this all over again. I would recommend you keeping all of the files safe somewhere to prevent this headache again.

i have been thinking about moving up to ICS with my sprint sph-p100
just not sure if i should jump now or wait till more things are working ?
do the things working out number those not , is it ready to be a daily driver yet?
Camera fully works but is flaky sometimes. Video out isn't working yet but he's working on it.
Other then that, its golden. Very fast and works well. Really worth it. Feels much better... like an actual tablet vs a large phone.
Iffy Camera and video out aren't worth holding back. One of the benefits is now Wiimotes and PS3 controllers will pair up using their respective apps now.

flashed sprint Tab
Hello all,
Thanks for the files and instructions! Here is my situation/question:
I bought my Gtab off of ebay flashed to work on Boostmobile's 3G network. It works great, and had no problem with the official OTA upgrade to Gingerbread.
Now I'm dying to upgrade to ICS but am worried that this would mess with my 3G connection. I can't provide any details of what went into the flashing (its not a process I understand), but I'm hoping that someone out there will.
So, if I follow the instructions in this thread will I still be able to use my Tab with the boost 3G it connects to now?
Many, many thanks for any help with this!!
Great Thanks! The first complete step-to-step instruction for installing ICS on Sprint p100.
One note- if you have Error 12 - delete all SAMSUNG USB drivers on PC, rebut and instal drivers from first archive.
At least!!! Thanks a lot!
I don't use the cellular network (sprint) but it does come up and show signal. I don't use it as a phone or anything like some people (supposedly you can install phone.apk and make calls over a voice plan).
I just use the tab as a tab. I just wanted to confirm that it appears to see the cellular network fine.

Sprint patch for what? Mind linking? No offense but posts like these without links or more information is what creates confusion.
I haven't used a patch at all and everything seems to be working. I also never heard of a patch to fix anything.

Try re-downloading the version 5 zip again. Make sure you don't edit anything within the zip before you put it on your SD card. This happened to me when I edited the version 7 zip as instructed above.
Ok. Got it working. What is the newest ver.? I'm on 4.03
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA
I think 4.0.3 is the latest ported over. I have a Galaxy Nexus and 4.0.4 was just released... so I would expect delays in porting that over to unofficial devices.
The patch, I've found, is just cosmetic. Once you upgrade to ICS using this method, the build.prop has everything setup as a Verizon Device (name, settings, etc). They can all be manually changed but there is a patch that you can flash via ClockWorkMod that does everything for you.
The link was posted a few posts up.
What is DTI? I may just leave it as verizon since I get more signal. LOL
Hey what's up guys I just threw this on my sprint tab... I had a few quirks with it early... when I first flashed the clockwork mod on it, the screen was discombobulated... the capacitive touch orientation was in landscape mode while the actual screen was in portrait.
So when I had to put the files back on the tab after modifying build 7 zip. I had to figure how to unlock the screen and then and also to choose "connect USB to storage"
Then I got a little nervous while doing the wipe because it took long. I thought it froze..
Just a heads up of what could happen to other guys .
Also now after full install, I find that my ram is usually pretty low and my CPU usage is almost always @ 100 percent .
Taking away from the fluidity... any suggestions ?
I restored my email from titanium back up and also my browser bookmarks, now they don't open up or close immediately. This happens with a lot with system data restored things....

Hey everyone,
Since rooting my Kindle (v 6.3), I was hoping I could be all fancy and have the Android Market - or Google Play if you will - but it seems my Fire doesn't agree with this. I've tried downloading and installing two separate versions of the Market - each launched but then came back with a force close error.
I've tried running the processes in KFU a few times but nothing seems to have changed.
Anyone have any ideas on how I would go abouts getting get working?
Thanks a lot in advance

Same here... you're not alone.
In fact, I've been having all kinds of issues this morning. I've even tried flashing other roms to see if I can get Gapps there, but Hellfire didn't have Market. No idea why... I'm flashing the stock update.zip right now. I'm just going to wait this one out.
You can't just install the market apk... there's other things that are needed for it to work.. just Google gapps.zip and flash them in recovery... and Hellfire rom dose have market you have to follow thee directions in the OP

I had the same problem. This is how I fixed it.
Follow these instructions given by ndpete. Follow the first set of steps then use option 2.
Remember to give ndpete a thumbs up.
That works, or you can just root, mount rw, add the googleservicesframework and vending apk 's to /system/app, mount ro, and reboot. Then run market in go launcher and on the second or third run it will update to google play and you're set.
I too am having a seemingly impossible time getting Android Market (Play) to work. I'm kind of a newb so don't totally understand the directions in this thread.
KFU 0.9.5 was supposed to add the market, but it didn't in my case. In fact, it didn't put the Superuser utility on my Fire either, although all other steps seemed to work fine so I assume I am rooted.
Any help is appreciated.
Flash MoDaCo Gr8. Its the stock 6.3 ROM rooted and tweaked with GApps preloaded. I've been running it for a few days now and it works flawlessly. It still uses the Amazon launcher, and you can still do prime videos with OTA rootkeeper. Look in the dev thread.

Fix
Going off of what other's said here:
Great big thanks to Vashypooh for helping me out on IRC, and a giant thanks (though I can't find the buttom for it) to ChodaBoyUSA's post on "6th April 2012, 05:49 PM".
Was trying to get Play on my wife's new Kindle and couldn't get it to recognise. Deleting the drivers and reinstalling (like ChodaBoyUSA states) was the trick. From there I still had some issues with installing the Gapps, and a good friend of mine (don't think he's on here) pointed me to this:
Unfortunately, I can't post URLs yet, so just google for this package.
"gapps-ics- 20120317-signed.zip"
Using the delete drivers trick, and this package worked. Up and running now.
Thanks so much, ndpete's solution totally worked! I'd give him and his posts a thumbs up if I could but I dunno how, so thanks!

Hello guys,
BEFORE YOU BEGIN, CREATE A FULL BACKUP OF YOUR DEVICE
I've been trying to flash the N8013 CM10 rom onto my N8010 for weeks and I finally figured it out how to do it.
Firstly when I tried it with CWM recovery it gave me Status 7 error. 'asserts failed' or something.
Then today, luckily I thought of getting rid of CWM recovery and replacing it with TWRP recovery.. And then I flashed the N8013 rom via TWRP recovery and woah! it was successful!
First you will need to download the TWRP recovey from : http://goo.im/devs/OpenRecovery/p4noterf/openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.0-p4notewifi.tar.md5
Place this file in your sdcard (either external or internal)
Then using Odin on PC or Mobile Odin app in android, flash the recovery md5.
For PC Odin, Select PDA and choose the file. (crossed it out because Odin for PC fails to flash the TWRP md5)
For Mobile Odin, Press Recovery and choose the file.
Once completed, it will reboot into recovery and TWRP recovery will load.
Touch on Install and a file browser will appear, simply choose the file and flash it. Remember to wipe dalvik cache and cache afterwards.
You will need to download the JB Gapps from : http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip and flash that too in order to get the Google apps.
S Note and samsung features will be lost.
There is a possibility of getting back some of the 'S-features' like the snote, splanner. and also peeltab app
I got all the stock apks, reply on the thread if needed any of it.

Is everything working after flashing this ie. camera, hardware acceleration?
I've had CM 10 for the N8013 running on my N8010 for awhile now. And I flashed it with CWM Recovery.
First I wiped cache partitions, dalvik cache. Factory reset (I was coming from a Miui ROM), then went into advanced settings and did a system and data format.
Flashed the CM ROM with CWM and no problems.
I use CWM everyday for the nightly updates and have never had a problem.
But all phones seem to run a little differently and it might depend on what ROM you were on before.
Just my input.

I installed TWRP on n8010 using dd method. That was the only possibility for me.
openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.0-p4notewif.img
Download the above file. Using adb shell or terminal emulator:
su
dd if=/sdcard/filenam.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6
Make certain that you get this command right. Typing the wrong number could result in a brick!

I'm curious about this statement. From my understanding the Peel remote doesn't work because the IR blaster drivers were never released so CM10 doesn't have them. Plus don't all of the "S Features" use the Touchwiz framework, which also isn't present in CM10?
Have you tested these claims yet? Just curious, not trying to say you haven't or couldn't possibly do it.
If anyone has any skill porting apps that require touchwiz to work then we might have a glimmer of hope. Personally i'd love to be able to use the stock handwriting recognition keyboard with CM10.
Some of the samsung features are quite useful. Also this CM10 seems to have GPU performance dropped significantly.

Hello,
I checked this out for you and found it does not flash with odin for PC.
Use Mobile Odin app in android, flash the recovery md5.
1. Download the Mobile ODIN app for android and install it
2. Grant root permissions and select 'Recovery' in the options and browse and select the recovery md5
3. Flash it !
It will be successfull... im very sure of this...
Im sorry if I said it in a wrong way.

So I took the libs for the S features from the samsung stock firmware and the snote apk. I placed the libs in the lib folder of the system and apk in the system app Which shouldve installed the snote app with force. I also tried adb push , and tried installing using terminal emulator. It showed as if it installed but when I restarted, it was not there.

First of all I have to say I MISS THE SAMSUNG S FEATURES AND THE MULTITASKING
Anyway, I love the CM10 keyboard, its better than the samsung one because its easier to type with two hands (personal xp)
Camera was fixed in the latest ones.Gallery app was a bit buggy but it seems likes they fixed it.
No IR blaster support.
Screen reconizes the S pen magnet (proved in PS Touch). Though there is not 'Hovering Icon' toggle in the settings.
Didnt manage to force install the Sfeautures.
No samsungs 'true multitasking' like no overscreen apps or anything
CM is decent, clean and smoother than samsungs firmware but it lacks all the goodies mentioned above. Im not sure if CM will have support for them.
I backed up both my CM and Samsung firmware, so I restore back and fourth between CM and Samsung whenever I need snotes and bla bla
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ this will be not a issue if there is a dual boot rom kernel was made ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Thanks hiruna! It wasn't that you said it in the wrong way. I was genuinely curious if you managed to get some of the S features working.
While it kind of sucks that for the time being we can't use S note on CM10, there are a few workarounds. I personally like Papyrus for note taking, and i've started to enjoy using the OverSkreen Browser, and since it's a floating browser i can set it up over half the screen.
Thanks for giving it a try and reporting back!
Thanks for the info on the apps I will try the apps you mentioned above on CM10. Currently I'm using Samsung Firmware. Just waiting on this tablet to get into more devs' hands and hopefully it will be famous and more and more roms and support will be available.

Do a full wipe of data/cache
(Factory reset)
Then flash the nightly through twrp
Then flash jb apps
Then reboot
It did take a bit to load (in the cm boot logo) when i flashed the rom first but after that its fine.
Dont restore ur apps or data from stock. It wont work.
I've flashed the 8013 cm10.1 on my note 10.1 with cwm without a problem. Personally I don't like it no offense to the developers but it lacks a lot of stuff and the trade off isn't worth it. Them only good thing that 4.2 offers its multi user. Not to mention the lack of proper gpu performance

If the AOKP ROM is using a unique uImage file, then you may see two different entries on your moboot screen for two different Android builds.
What does your moboot menu have in it?
Maybe your install failed. Try downloading and flashing it again. If you're trying AOKP JB, you should wipe both /data and dalvik cache to avoid a boot loop!
If using AcmeInstaller3 remember to rename the ROM with ”update-” at the beginning so that it looks like update-AOKPJB_UnOfficial.zip

I believe it was the "update-" thing that was keeping it from updating. I followed another video tutorial which provided files that had the "update" in front of them and it worked.
I haven't tried yet but now that it worked will the regular method of wiping and flashing through recovery work? (Like, if I want to try out different JB Roms) Are there any files that need to be in a particular place for the recovery method to work? I tried that method first and it would never take, would always revert back to the original version. Don't know if, because I just jumped in and haven't been here from the beginning, I am just missing a necessary step that is hardly even talked about anymore.
Love your work Rev! Thank you again for everything that you do!
Update went like clockwork, unfortunately I can't seem to get the camera to work (not a terrible loss, but I was sorta excited to see it actually working with this release).

Don't go for external mirrors unless some recognized developer suggests them. Best will be to wait for goo.im to come up again, being a prime site, it won't be down for long.
The goo servers do appear to go down on occasion. They always come back up a bit later.
Problem with installing GAPPS using ACMEInstaller3
Excellent tutorial for an idiot like me. Thanks for again for the guide! Question:
I followed the instructions step by step and was able to get CM10 installed successfully. However, I wasn't able to get GAPPS installed using this method. From researching I understand sometimes there is a problem installing GAPPS through ACMEInstaller3 and one can simply get GAPPS installed through CWM Recovery. However, I would like to use/have TWRP instead so is there a way to get GAPPS installed properly through ACMEInstaller3 and then I can install TWRP through GooManager?
Alternatively, is there a way to install GAPPS without using CWM Recovery?
Or, I guess I can install CWM Recovery first, then install TWRP Recovery, then remove CWM Recovery while keeping TWRP and not go back to the stock Recovery? I tried to search the forums and wasn't able to find instructions on removing CWM Recovery WHILE still keeping CM10 and not go back to the Stock recovery.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.
@reverendkjr - appreciate your videos. they're awesome. definitely helped me (and several other friends) many times and saved a ton of time. super easy to follow.
Yes you can install TWRP normally, flash gapps in CWM then install goomanager app, open and click the 3 dot menu and install custom recovery script then it will install it
Now using a root file manager go to the directory called boot and delete uimage.cwm.img (this is from memory but still should be correct

My goodness you have forgotten everything, you will need to install acmeuninstaller 3, moboot, CMW and the rom you want along with the relevant gapps. Sounds complicated this thread will make it easy

Great vid!! Finally got CM10 on my Touchpad.
Just picked up an HD+ a couple of days ago at the current sale price and so far, looks to be a pretty decent deal. Since Leapinlar made it so easy to go back to stock, I decided to just go with emmc as opposed to sdcard install. Thanks Leapinlar!
Anyway, I figured I'd just share my experience so far with porting some roms. Hoping that some folks may try it themselves and get one of them working properly. As the thread title suggests, I did have some success but unfortunately, not enough. I am currently on verygreen's latest emmc release and am very familiar with his work with the Touchpad. Thanks verygreen!
So, I used verygreen's CM10.1 as a base with the following roms. These are the results using this very, very simple guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100836
1. AOKP Official for the Nexus 7 June 9th nightly
Booted without issue. Stuff that I tested that worked, Wifi, Rom Control, ribbons, tablet ui etc. Also, some programs that are important to me such as, Netflix, HBO GO worked properly. Did this with a complete wipe, factory reset, cache etc. Now, for the issues. For some reason, the rom did not have root, superuser wouldn't kick in and of course, all apps requiring root didn't work. In terminal, "su" resulted in permission denied. The workaround for this was simply flashing Chainfire's Supersu from CWM and all was good. Initially I tried installing Supersu from Play Store but that failed to work.
The next issue was more of a problem. Force close in settings/storage and in addition, the external sdcard was not recognized and the tab would not connect to my PC for MTP file transfer. I was unable to solve this issue with my limited experience, as I'm more the cut and paste tinkerer. This was a dealbreaker for me, so on to the next rom.
2. Carbon Rom for the Galaxy Tab 2 from May 22nd
In a nutshell, I was thrilled with the results from this mix, as everything worked right out of the box. The issues were settings/storage force closed and the tab would not connect to PC via MTP. This one would have been very usable, just would have to take out my external sdcard and put it in a cardreader, or use Samba for file transfer. Carbon has many AOKP features, so tablet ui, ribbons, nav button features which are very cool, all worked. This one did not have root problems, external sdcard was recognized and it came very close to being a keeper for me.
3. Carbon Rom for Nook Tablet from May 28th
Simply put, I couldn't get it to boot, just bootlooped on the Cyanogenmod bootani.
Well, if anyone decides to try this, there are only 6 simple steps to follow. If it fails to boot, there is a slight variation you can try, which is replacing libandroidruntime.so... that may make a difference. FYI, I tried this with the Carbon Rom for the Nook Tab but no go.
I hope someone with more experience gives it a go, I'd love to see one of these roms working properly on the HD/HD+. I'm going to post a link to the Gtab 2 Carbon Rom by sevenup30, as that one came the closest to being a winner.
