I will report over the next 7-10 days. Too busy at the moment for an in-depth review.
I have only removed it from the box, updated the OS and now charging the battery.
Following views:
- Hardware better quality than I expected from the initial online Jolla reviews, feels solid
- Screen quality not great, perhaps will improve after a period of "burn in" but the resolution does not look good
- On-screen keyboard and one handed use also easier than I expected
- I like the UI, simple and clever in some areas
- Gestures, I am still getting used to these as I also have a Blackberry Z10 and palm Pre which also are feature based
- Speedy web browser
Battery charger was for Europe, not that helpful for us in the UK!

I also got my Jolla 2 days ago. I'm really impressed with a lot of aspects. I concur on the quality of the hardware, the UI, the gestures and the beautiful browser. I personally think the screen looks great. I know the PPI isn't huge but I honestly don't think it need be any better. Text is clear and nice to read. However, I am not getting along that well with the screen. I'm used to swype for android and clicking those little letters is taking some getting used to again.
I've got apps from the Amazon app store working nicely such as Facebook and Temple Run 2. However, I am having some issues with things like connecting to wifi. Also can't seem to get google calendars syncing whereas my contacts have worked perfectly.

wow lots of jolla owners on xda nice.

And what about Android apps, do they work?

Have you updated yet? It's in the pully menu of about phone.

Yes, they do. They appear normally in the app drawer and Jolla shows the software Android control buttons when Andr. app is running. I didn´t notice any lagging or low performance of those I tried so far. They behave just like on Android, e.g. Skype can make calls as you would normally expect, youtube client works fine. I´m just not sure whether the files stored in device can be shared between Sailfish and Android apps, e.g. I don´t see the contents of SD card with an Android music player.
I hope there will be more native Sailfish apps, Sailfish is the charming aspect of Jolla, not the Android apps.

Got mine today and love it! The UI is so nice and it runs fast and stable.

Tested many many Android apps today. You can install a launcher and use widgets. Works just fine. The speed is impressive - very fast. Tested on Riptide GP 1 and the game looks nice - no lags.
Tried to get the Google Framework (Google Services) working but without luck. The Alien Dalvik is running Android 4.1.2 and is not rooted. You don´t have "Settings.apk" so you can´t setup stuff. And it was impossible for me getting the native Android settings working.
I have made some thoughts while testing. If it is possible to get root on Alien it would be possible to flash the GApps from CM. So there would be a "full" Android.

Can any of you with Jollas respond to this thread?

3 weeks ago I offered a Jolla Phone to my wife because this is the last Finnish phone Today an Finnish lady abroad deserve it .
Moreover I have a LG G2 so i will here compare quickly both of them.
- the Jolla have more quality Built : materials used are better
- the Jolla have a worst screen, not only size !
- the Jolla as less autonomy (On day of use)
- the interfaces are totally different expect the knock-on feature.
- Sailfish OS is really a new way of using a phone, gestures are centric. as a result Sailfish OS is really minimalistic compare to android
- Sailfish OS seems note to be totally developed : to use your Jolla phone you need to be Geeky (or have a husband who is so)

First Impressions: [ROM][2.3.2] I9000XWJV1 (GINGERBREAD) for Galaxy S

The other thread has made me increasingly mental trying to find some decent information on what is working and what isn't working for SGS users upgrading to 2.3.2. I upgraded on Sunday evening without any issues and have been using it for the past 48hrs and have come across the following:
bad:
- no sip configuration options
- when integrated with MS exchange server, the unread count for emails never changes even after you read the mail
- default internet browser is horrifically slow, even with no other apps running in the background
- no samsung apps available (probably because this isn't an official samsung release)
good:
- android market works fine for me in Switzerland
- GPS works well with all the different apps i have
- wifi is interesting. it works, but i don't get full signal strength notification even when next to the access point
- FM radio, the most used app i have continues to work nicely
Overall I have been pleasantly surprised with this version. It's nice, although it's not an official release and is still leagues better than 2.1.x and 2.2. Would get a good argument from me about how it compares with 2.2.1..

Well, for me, I am not downloading torrents on my phone. When I want to download, via wifi, apps from the market or something with dropbox, the wifi isn't not letting me down. I think there's a disconnect between what the graphic is reporting and the actual level.
It's good because it still works and is functional and allows me to keep using this on a daily basis despite its status.

Thats a good idea.. Not only might it help Samsung, but it will discourage people from running it (and later whinging).
i got it running for a few hours and i generally enjoyed it, but the keyboard has no bulgarian (well it have in the options but it does not work) and if you run out of ram you are screwed (the phone hangs or gets tooo slow ).
as said samsung apps doesn`t work and the gallery freezes very often...
i hate that samsung removed the fancy animations and the black menu bar....
There's like no gingerbread keyboard and launcher

1-3D performance
It's not as good as it was on 2.2.1. If you test some 3D games like NFS Shift, you culd see that it doesnt run so well as it did on 2.2.1
Some people even reports that they can’t even run lot of 3D games.
2-GPS
There are reports of a good gps performance, but I have read somewhere that it's contanstly throwing some kind of errors or bugs, I don't know how to check that. I guess they know it thanks to logcat or something like that.
According to what I could read on another forum they changed lot of gps files nad not is very similar to the ones of Nexus S, that's a good thing...
3-Keyboard
It’s also a shame that they didn’t include gingerboard keyboard…
PS: Some people might think that this thread isn’t useful, but as we are being kind of betatesters for Samsung it would be nice if we use this post only to report the most common bugs founds, so maybe Samsung could have a look at it and solve it faster.

Same here, it was so slow till i had to restart my i9000.
I've been using it for the last two days now (one of them with Supercurio's Voodoo Hack) and I've been happy with it in some parts, but quite unhappy in others.
Lag:
First of all, it seems the "Lag" that was fixed in 2.2.1 is back. Especially with memory-Hungry applications like the Browser, the phone tends to just freeze up for a few minutes without really doing much. I even had to pull the battery one time. This does happen less with the voodoo-fix, but it's still noticeable. Flash also does barely work.
Gingerbread features:
The new Gyroscope-Driver seems to work and it works really well. Skymap and Starchart both looked a LOT better when using them, no fidgeting around all the time anymore.
The new Gingerbread animations are NOT present in this rom. It seems like Samsung thinks they don't fit into TouchWiz, which is a shame. So no glowing edges when overscrolling and no screen-off or screen-on animation.
3D Performance pretty much seems to be the same as on 2.2.1 Games load a little slower, but I think that's mostly because we're using an un-optimized kernel.
The Bluetooth-Driver unfortunately still is the same as in Previous versions. So Neither Wiiremote nor PS3 will pair with the SGS, unlike on Cyanogenmod.
Samsung-Stuff:
As was stated before, Swype does not work. However, I am in the Swype beta and was able to install the Beta of Swype into this rom after deleting the normal swype with root explorer. It works fine, even Voice input does work.
All in all, it is clear that this is beta-firmware and it doesn't really offer much in terms of improvement over 2.2.1, at least not yet. Cyanogenmod 7, even tho it supports less hardware and is more unstable, runs a LOT faster and smoother than this, is more customizable and uses more of the new Gingerbread features.
For now, I'll be going back to 2.2.1, it's more useful as a daily driver, but this at least looks promising so far.
Reverting back to 2.2.1. 2.3.2 is way too slow.
Well considering this is a beta it seems alot of the features that are suppose to be in the final build are here left out. That will give the reason for quite some things missing ( some animations, effects, lock screens, keyboards....) Plus also cause of the beta build maybe even alpha who knows, the performance for me is really bad, it feels twice as laggy compared to the 2.2.1 releases. All in all this build is an striped down, not optimized build for the samsung devs i guess. We will have to wait for a better build leak. Cheers !

get it from eCrater.com from Tech Direct i believe it's called... it will be $177 total (including shipping) but i got mine in 3 days.... I ordered Thursday of last week Very good seller
I have been emailing manufacturer's because they are apparently working on software to use with the device to pair to the phones. There are no current apps that utilize call handling from Phone to Watch so the device is more of a standalone device for now. Plays videos, good camera, touch functionality is good, it got a little bit hot while i was runing ADW launcher so i uninstalled that... stock launcher runs fine. Charges fast - FM radio feature is pretty damn cool however you have to use stock headphone it comes with as antenna, they plug in via micro usb. Overall great build quality... Looks like an HTC One LOL

In the video, the person said that the battery will last 1 and 1/2 days. (Not a China dude but I still understand their Singlish)
Btw the battery life is probably the same for other similar smart watches unless they have battery tweaks like the Qualcomm toq and the pebble smart watch which reduces or fully disables touchscreen and colour
Well the battery life i don't know because i haven't killed it yet..... The battery meter goes up and down QUITE a bit though so i can't get a real good read on the battery gauge, which is kind of frustrating...
So far i've rooted and changed the boot animation with rom toolbox pro. I cannot get the stock lock screen clock and launcher to go away tho, even after changing the filenames in /System/App which leaves me boggled. I am running ADW and a large digital clock on my homescreen and would rather unlock to that then the analog clock.
If you guys are interested, i did a quick review of the watch i will upload to youtube tonight and make new thread with video

What are its capabilities as far as connecting to a phone
Short review
I just received mine in the mail and must say, I'm pleasantly surprised. Build quality is excellent. The screen is bright and hires enough to be able to read everything. Wifi is stable and quite good, in contrary top most other China devices I have (mostly JXD). Of course the keyboard is a bit cramped and hitting the right letter is a gamble but the screen is sensitive and it doesn't take a strong touch. The interface is very smooth and responsive. I have installed a few apps which work well. The only thing that keeps crashing is Skype, which is weird as it came with the watch. There seems no way to use Google Now either (it keeps crashing) which is a pity as I don't want to even think about searching with the on-screen keyboard. The loudspeaker is okay (not great). I haven't tried using it to call anyone yet, that will be next on my list. I just noticed that the watch doesn't take micro sim cards. That quite surprising for such a small device. Now I'll have to go out and buy a regular sim card. I'm not a big fan of adapters.

It looks like a nice device I'm torn between buying this watch or just waiting around for the kickstart project Neptune Pine. Which seems to be a much more polished product
I'm also thinking about getting this or the neptune but the Pine looks so big it will make my already small wrists tiny!
I like the idea of the Pine but think I might go for the ZGPAX....

The thing is that its recognized by bluetooth as a phone so there is file transfer capability but not call handling or notification handling until the manufacturer releases an app to provide support for this... I would advise anyone who purchases to try and contact the manufacturer and get this info. Ive been looking a week now for an app in the store but have found nothing.

Care to share what monumental changes you were expecting? I see a lot of people disappointed by the update, but they don't voice what their expectations were.
You might do well to read the change log: http://developer.android.com/about/versions/kitkat.html. Obviously things like default SMS and translucent nav and status bars won't make it to the Nexus 7, but those weren't really big deal changes anyway. Bigger, useful changes happened under the hood. Lower system requirements and memory management improvements means 4.4 is lighter and leaner. Host Card Emulation means that things like Google Wallet are no longer reliant on a "secure element" in the device. The printing framework means any app can print any type of content using cloud printing, like Google Cloud Print. Immersive mode means nice changes for full screen apps.
Etc., etc. Just go take a look at that change log and come back and say that, "Absolutely nothing changed."
All updates will probably be like this from now on because they have to cater for five year old devices.

Well, except for the loss of the flash plug-in.
I love this update
+ 25% battery life: my previous 7. 5 hours average is now 9-10.
-Another change is the ability to get the translucent bars (with Nova launcher beta)
- I had 2-3 random reboot per week (now it happened only once in the last 3 weeks)
- touchscreen improvement : no more sticky and ghost touch (even if the multi touch issue is still there)
You can argue that it's more bugs fixes and optimization than a big upgrade, it's true. But it's a big improvement for this tablet according to me.

Uh. What? They dropped support for the Galaxy Nexus, which is only 2 years old at this point. Technically they would have supported it still if TI had updated their chipset drivers, but it is still hardly a 5 year old device. They only officially support the Nexus 4 (1 year old) and the Nexus 7 2012 (1 year and a bit old). If manufacturers like Samsung or HTC choose to support legacy devices, that's their thing, not Google. Google provides the source. Samsung, HTC, and Moto are only supporting their more recent lineups too.
Maybe do some research before you start spouting off on the Internet.

Are you for real? All you're essentially complaining about is the fact that there is no visual changes. The reason there aren't many visual changes is because they didn't include the Google Experience Launcher that debuted on the Nexus 5. I would direct you here for some perspective: http://www.randomphantasmagoria.com/can-we-all-just-shut-up-about-the-google-experience-launcher/
Also, people, translucent status bars are available on EVERY NEXUS DEVICE EXCEPT THE NEXUS 10 (due to graphics driver issues). The thing is, the app has to specifically request the translucent bar. The reason the translucent bars don't show up on the home screens is because the other Nexus devices don't include the Google Experience Launcher. The GEL requests translucent bars. The legacy launcher does not. If you want translucent status bars on the home screen, sideload the Google Experience Launcher. Done.

My favorite part of this update is the Immersion mode for Reading Ebooks & the new 4.4 default Email App.
I think kitkat is one of the most exciting releases since ice cream sandwich but most changes are indeed under the hood and not officially ready yet, like ART but kitkat is an awesome start for a new future for Android.

I can't comment on the VPN issues, but why is no SMS support on the NEXUS 7 TABLET a reason to dislike the update? It's a tablet. You have a data plan on it, not a talk and text plan. No tablets have SMS support out of the box. There are mods, etc. that you can use to get SMS support.

- More battery life
- Less services running in the background
Yup horrible on this end.
As for SMS, isn't that integrated into hangouts now? Can tell as just got iPhone for work ?

I don't know about worst, but I wish I hadn't updated. Battery is not a big issue with me as I mainly use it at home where I can keep it charged. The printing option is nice but not something that I can't live without. I haven't noticed any increased speed. I am stock so my issues apply to non power users who just want a first rate tablet without having to mod it, which it was before the update:
1. Browsers doesn't automatically fit text to screen like 4.3 did. I now have to double tap.
2. There is a slight stick/lag in browser when scrolling. Before it was smooth as butter.
3. To prevent major lag/freeze, I've had to cut off location services.
4. Touchscreen is sometimes non responsive, particularly the app drawer button. I use Apex (to hide non used apps) but it doesn't seem to be Apex as it also happens with the stock launcher. The only way to get it working again is by clearing default.
5. Not major but I liked the blue status bar icons in 4.3 better than the white.
6. I liked the 4.3 email app better.
7. Loss of flash. I know flash is obsolete, but there are still many websites that still use it and I liked the option of using my preferred video player as opposed to being forced to HTML5.

I somewhat doubt it. My N7 LTE came with 4.3 and the "reduced" SMS function. It can receive SMS, same as in 4.4, but i had to install a SMS app to send them. Apart from testing i never used it to send SMS. It's a bloody tablet...

I had the opposite effect, sitting "idle" for 4 hours the battery is drained down to %20, google services was @ 74%, re-booting didn't solve it. Sitting idle with 4.3 it last 5 full days; lastly I really, really liked the way the Staus icon would be blue for secured network, and white for unsecured network, showed up/down too and would turn grayish when your connected but not repsonding....and the blue stood out just enough to catch your eye so that you could tell at a glance what is going on. I dumped KitCrap and went back to 4.3

What makes it a bloody tablet? I never had that issue with mine; 4.3 runs like a champ.

5.1.1 Existence has been leaked, what do we want?

So 5.1.1 was leaked on a Google Dev page today (Source)
What would we want to see in this Lollipop update for the N6 seeming we know nothing about whats coming?
Me personally? A bit better battery life (I think the second .1 indicates new kernel?) and to clean up some of the bugs.

probably nothing beneficial for the N6... looks like it's only going to be for the N7 and N9... much like the 5.0.2 release was never "official" for the N6.
If its truly LMY47S, then it is not really 5.1.1.
That has the same build date code as 5.1.
I want faster responding sensors. Auto dimming, proximity sensor for phone calls sped up. Damn thing takes forever! As does auto rotate.
Want a rocketship for blasting off to Mars! Seems my Nexus6 has about everything else!
I'd like my battery to last over 9000 minutes of screen on time.
Three wishes, and none of them for an iPhone, M9, or S6.
Better battery optimization, improved camera and radio, and ability to switch to a dark Material theme.
Performance improvement for Camera, Dialer and occasional dropped frames in animations.
I would like google to unlock the notification led xD
Faster booting up and more options when shutting down.
Screen resolution options.
That's it for now, only had it for 2 days. Still learning about lollipop, I came from an galaxy s3.
Sexy wallpaper
- Notification lights back by default (non-rooted)
- (Better) hardware encryption for faster boot-up
Fix the carkit a2dp crashing when connected to a Bluetooth low energy device. I should not have to put my moto 360 in airplane mode every time I drive my car...

To you and others in this thread - You're on XDA and many of the feature requests are available in most custom ROMs. "I don't run rooted ROMs" or "I'd like those features to be in stock ROM" will probably be your reply, to which I will say, why are you commenting on a developer / Android customization forum?

Why would Google implement something that is unnecessary and could cause problems? There hasn't been any need to close apps for quite a few iterations of android (actually an understatement)
With all these 'new' versions I find it interesting that N7 seems to be the problem child they can't get right.
I just want WiFi calling

Well it's using a tegra chip. All other nexus are using Qualcomm chips. Minus the 9 which is also late to the party.
The N6 is already a great device. What would make it stand above the rest is for it to be natively as smooth and lag free as the N5 is and to add some minor battery life improvements.

Will the PRIV be rootable?

I got the priv and it's my third day using it and man do I miss my s5, most importantly TOUCHWIZ. I had Samsung since 2010 so it's so weird to me. But my s5 was getting really laggy and slow. I'm kinda regretting the priv because I miss switching batterys, I hate being connected to an outlet and I miss having root. Would the priv be able to get root at least? I wanted something new but this is not my cup of tea. If there's no root then I'll just end getting the note 4 with removable battery and SD slot.

I am also hoping there is a non tethered root method discovered for the Priv. I think there might be but I know it will be difficult. Many well known devs have already commented even before the Priv that root access will become more difficult with MM.
Just curious but what exactly are you missing about touchwiz? I have a several Samsung devices & one of the first things I like to do is rip touchwiz out & either leave functions disabled or replace it with an alternative solution. I just never liked the cost of lag that running pure stock left you with.
If you let us know specifically what your missing we may be able to offer 3rd party solutions you might actually find superior to what you get with touchwiz.
I like the weather and clock all in one and how everything is more simple. This BlackBerry android is really complicated and boring. I never really liked stock Android, Nexus and so on.

The weather and clock combo is a simple fix. You can take your pick of hundreds of options in the PlayStore.
The simple maybe a bit harder. Samsung really did dumb things down on their devices. (apple of Android)

Not sure what you're trying to communicate here but I especially love the fact that BlackBerry is actively trying to bring the best they have in smartphone tech to the Android platform.
I don't find it complicated at all. In fact I find out exactly the opposite. The shortcuts they add to the launcher & keyboard alone have saved me tremendous amounts of time. I admit I send allot of emails & text messages but I actually like to work on my phone [emoji1]
I think you hit it in the spot when you pointed out that you never really liked stock Android which is not really a BlackBerry thing. Sure they could have done more to customize the interface like Samsung did with Touchwiz but until the Note 5 came out I really hated how slow & laggy Touchwiz made my past Samsung phones. It made my a Note 4 upgrade to lollipop so slow I had to wipe the phone & go back to kitkat.
I'd also recommend getting Chronos widgets from the Playstore. They have a great time, date, calendar combo widget.
Don't get me wrong because I think the Priv is far from perfect. I would have really preferred the following items
* removable battery
* fingerprint scanner
* DTek software that could actually block application permissions so that I have total control over my personal info
* more control over the launcher functions like the bottom screen gestures
* more control over the edge screen options & functionality
* more control over the productivity tools
* Developer Edition Priv hardware with unlocked bootloader & root access so XDA can help fix the things preventing the Priv from being the must-have smartphone device it can be!
* the rest of the missing BB7.1 & BB10 missing features & gestures [emoji1]

Nvm youre right, Im starting to get used to this phone but theres alot of stuff I have questions for. Do you know where the screen shots go because I can not find them on photos. I just really wish the phone had a removable battery and it wouldve been perfect but oh well I just ordered a Auckey portable charger and Auckey fast charger and Ima see how that goes. Also is there any way to leave the back, home and clear apps always up instead of it dissapearing?
I feel like this phone is going to be one good ass phone for awhile either way.

You can view screenshots through Photos. Click on the three lines at the top left and then you can change the view to device files. You'll then see your screenshots.
I don't think you can set the home and back buttons to always on which is probably a good thing the next time you go watch a video or some other action that might have those in your view.

So far, it's a great improvement on all fronts, of particular note, the issue with multiple keypresses on the PKB has been resolved, so now I can truly touch type again at speed without fear.

I don't know of a way to do exactly what you're looking for but what I have done as a work around is use an app called All in One Gestures to setup gestures that I use to initiate a Home, Back, Last App navigations by swiping the edges & corners of the screen

Ah, I wasn't directing my comment at you, it was for the original person you responded to. It's a native Android function since... I think kitkat to do the swipe in from the bottom edge of the screen to bring up the softkeys whenever you're in fullscreen modes.
