Hi, I"m new to this whole pocket pc thing and I"m looking to find some games for my little girl that can run on my Wizard. I'm hoping to find some games that are just pure fun for her (7 y.o.) as well as some that are educational, maybe math or spelling if that exists...
And even greater fun is something like a tic tac toe game... where we can both enjoy the game.
(you shoulda seen my hand shake the first time I handed over my wizard for her to play around with a bit ) She loves the little bubbles game, the name slips my mind right now.
Anyway, Thank you all in advance and I love this forum, I hope I can contribute to it as well

perhaps the shapeshifter and zuma games?. Sorry not a real expert on Kids games but astraware tends to have a decent selection.
If your kids are able, I would really recommend Monkey Island and all of the scumm games. They had some Simon the sorceror and similar as well, perhaps sam and max? I was quite precocious at that age, and loved it... didn't do me any harm, lol!

Check the games section of: http://www.freewareppc.com
You'll find many.
Also check out the games reviews I've posted to the General forums here; for example, JumpyBall or S-Tris2 are all decent and, what is more, FREE titles.
Thank you all for your input, if you can think of more, keep them coming ...
My little girl LOOOOOOVES Zuma, at first she didn't really understand it (and she just shot the balls anywhere she pleased but as soon as she caught on that matching the colors makes them "explode" she had a great time...
I'll check out that review section right now
Again, thank you for all your help everyone.

feedback
Can I get some feedback from anyone who has played the game?
Hey it's pretty neat. Would like to see hardware keyboard support though, I never liked playing games solely on the touch screen . Or maybe it could be both keyboard and touch screen ;o?
Lol well it seems fun, like a cute mario sort of game. It'd keep me busy for a while .
thanks
Ok thanks for the feedback , glad you enjoyed it. I made a jump left and jump right button so it will be smooth like multi-touch.
Yeah and it's nice ;p. Just sucks that ours doesn't have real multi-touch .
But keep up the work!
feedback
Thanks alot for the feedback....Iam glad you enjoyed it.
I've done a mini review of the amazing shoot em up style game NOVA on the Galaxy Tab. Copied the text of the Blog Post below, FULL post and youtube Vid can be found here: "bilal-mobiler.blogspot.com"
I'm a new user so I can't post up links in posts! Otherwise would have put it all here..!

N.O.V.A HD. – Next Generation Gaming with the Samsung Galaxy Tab
The 20 man (and-women!)-strong team of Samsung Mob!ler’s have each been gifted a Samsung Galaxy Tab and we’ve been putting it through its paces over the past week or so. Our first task has been to check out the gaming potential that the Galaxy Tab has to offer, and I’ve focused this post on N.O.V.A. - the outstanding 1st-person shoot ‘em up style game from Gameloft.
I must say from the outset that I framed the Galaxy Tab as a mini-computer/multi-media/internet/email/phone sort of device, i.e. not something I would play games on so much; maybe just some basic freebie stuff. However N.O.V.A has surpassed my expectations and blown my mind open to just what the Galaxy Tab can offer.
Display
With graphics and gameplay on par with (if not greater) that that of a PSP, the Galaxy Tab and N.O.V.A make quite the match. Bringing back memories of the classic N64 Goldeneye, the game comes alive on the Tab’s 7inch TFT HD display. It runs smoothly with no lagging or glitches. There’s an ominous storyline throughout the game, and you get to watch a series of videos and radio messages as you follow the story of a retired marine called back into duty following a surge of alien invasions.
Gameplay and Controls
Whilst there is a degree of repetition throughout, N.O.V.A makes for a challenging and entertaining game. The controls are intuitive, simple to grasp and really put you ‘in to’ the game. There is a virtual touchscreen analogue stick that moves you about and the direction you ‘face’ can be controlled both via the touchscreen (anywhere on the screen) AND controlled gyroscopically with the Tab’s accelerometer. This means you can look around the game environment by moving the phone up and down and literally point and shoot the bad guys. With buttons to fire, reload, throw grenades, switch weapons as well as well as a host of other interactive (and customisable) features, N.O.V.A can really suck you into the game. With the gyroscope in full action you’ll look like quite the crack –pot playing this on the train or bus, but just think how much fun you’d be having at the same time!
Extra features
There’s various little extra ‘bits’ to N.O.V.A that begin to explore just what potential gaming on the Galaxy Tab could be like. Whilst these are not fully developed, they show a lot of promise. Some of them include:
- There are mini ‘hacking’ games, which are essentially little puzzles that you work through and unlock ammo/progress in the game.
- There are some cool features where you have to interact with the environment in a really intuitive way. This could be sliding an arrow to make the lift move, or spinning/moving parts of the walls/doors to open them. I guess you have to see this live… Check out the video!!
- Multi-player mode – Connect over wifi and play death matches with strangers across the world or just play with your friends over a local network! This is an amazing facet to the game, very fun and very addictive!
Conclusion
There’s a lot of ‘wow’ factors to N.O.V.A, as I’ve advanced through the game it opens up various new tasks, weapons, and ‘missions’ from sniping to drive-by’s. I just didn’t expect this level of gaming to come from a tablet. Really impressed.
There’s still a degree of repetitiveness to the game with the same sort of ‘baddies’ appearing and attacking you in the same predictable way. It thus becomes a bit too easy sometimes. There’s a good amount of detail given to the terrain/environment, although this could easily be expanded upon and is largely wasted.
All-in-all, this is a game you just have to see in action! Better still, head down to a Mobile shop and put it through your paces yourself! You will be impressed and I just can’t wait to see what else is in store for the Samsung Galaxy Tab!

Is the version of NOVA on the tab a full version or Trial?
If it's full, that'd be annoying as it went bye-bye when I updated the firmware.

has anyone of you ever experienced the bug when while walking/running, your character all of a sudden commands your team to take position when in fact you didn't press the "Into Position" on-screen button at all? it's really annoying when you're doing a stealthy mission as those stupid teammates just come into the scene shooting everybody else and letting all hell break loose (I mean fail a mission that's supposed to be stealthy). Anyone?
Anyone?
I think it's normal.. Your team mates have a brain too lol
Sent from my XPlay using XDA App.
no it's not normal because in Rainbow Six Vegas and Vegas 2 for the PC it doesn't happen like that. i know it's PC opposed to Android but what's the point after all of commanding a team when they do something you didn't even order?
also, even if your character tells your teammate (automatically at the beginning of a STEALTH mission) to use return fire only, they still shoot on sight. this game really lacks some of the vital Rainbow Six features like Rules of Engagement (Vegas, Vegas 2), and multiple weapon add-ons (hello? anyone wants a MP5 with Red Dot Sight plus an extended magazine with a modified buttstock? it can be done in the PC).
another annoying bug is when using the snake cam: the game auto-tags enemies without even touching them.
another: during a firefight, character out-of-nowhere sends his teammates in the middle of the firefight killing them both (or so).
I've already finished this game twice and these bugs really disturbs me a lot especially when in a higher difficulty setting.
Despite of these, it's still a good game though. Worth my $2.99.
This Game is evening bugly I Think ^.^

Digital Eclairs went to Pinewood's after school program called AppLab, focused on getting kids more hands on on new electronics coming up.
We presented our project XnO, with multiple handled devices to kids (age group 8-12). After the first 15 mins of hands on experience, they were really enjoying the gameplay, comparing it to different games titles and how it was better, why they liked 3D, asking questions on when the app would be released, and they were very interested in knowing about the process of how it was created.
It showed us that 3D environments were a welcome change, kids respond well to warm colors we used. We set each kid on a different level and they seemed comfortable playing and getting familiar with the app. Some kids responded very well with the higher levels and some not so well because we had not ramped them through the initial gameplay, but after a few tries they started to get the hang of the game and when they were able to win they were really happy. In retrospect we realized that this was a bit of a difficult learning curve for someone new coming to this game, but with the release upon us we had to move forward with what he had. In order to give people a taste of the game on the iOS we released with a showcase of 5 levels, which looking back on it now, care is needed when choosing the level of difficulty to the casual gamer.
The Accelerometer presented an interesting challenge to the kids, once they figured out they could lift the device and tilt it left and right to move the character they were able to pick up on it quick and continue with how they had been completing the levels previously. We were short few devices and a few kids had to share the same device. The ones who were collaborating did very well on higher levels taking turns and really engaging in the game and helping each other and were faster in adapting to the game. This helped us understand that putting out a physics puzzled based game would definitely require a walkthrough to help the community through some of those tough levels.
As a developer with our first game a week away from release, it was an exhilarating experience to see our product being enjoyed by these kids. Their eagerness to explore all the game features gave us so much satisfaction and all the pain and efforts in building this game were totally worth it. The kids were very interested in knowing the process of how the game was made and when they were asked for feedback they all jumped in saying: They loved double headed turtle and wanted a three headed turtle, in-game currency that they can use to buy in things in game like weapons, wallpaper, and many more suggestions.
To anyone who want to make their own game, arrange group play tests ahead of time once you have a working build. You will get wonderful insight into your game. We had initially done a lot a individual testing from industry people, which is very useful and should not be ignored but for a complete overview on a game and end user perspective go for group tests, as individual test can sometimes be misleading. And do it as soon and as often as possible.
