By the way I was directly went there I didn't ask by phone or email, I'm not sure they would say something by those means. I just put the question and the guy just make it clear to me, no fuss, no problem.

1) No. Once it's been set, you cannot reverse it (as of now).
2) Don't know, sorry.
3) You're English was good enough to get your point across. ^-^

Your warranty bit is 1 forever unless we find out how to reset. Flashing stock rom won't fix...
On the note 3 if your talking about knox counter then you can't
However the warranty bit not sure about see if triangle away resets this

Knox Warranty Bit: 1 or 0x1
This mean that the Samsung System Security KNOX is not secure to work on 2x1 Phones on one. For You and for Your work on Enterprises, Governments an more (if You work on them).
See this: https://www.samsungknox.com/en/overview/technical-details
Quote: I think that's why this technology has been approved by the Ministry of Defense USA. (If flag 0x0 my opinion).
Samsung KNOX protects its operating system using SE for Android, which is built on the SELinux technology developed by NSA. (And not protect if flag 0x1, my opinion).
Read this: http://linux.die.net/man/8/selinux
Then, this is first of all the warranty from Knox Security, not for our personal warranty. On still discuss about.
That technical-details was censured by Samsung, may be. Read this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47587340&postcount=290

This statement isn't true... Samsung have declared that due to using unapproved software the hardware has been damaged (technically true, however Samsung has done this) so therefore Warranty will not be honored...
Certain countries can debate this due to their consumer laws but generally it's up to the guy who's repairing to enforce warranty or not...
Firstly thanks everyone
Im not sure triangle away is harmony for my phone
Turkish model doesnt have knox you should know
But the worst thing is when i look something for my phone everything is for sm-n9005
If hackers want information about our phones i can send you whatever you want
Warranty bit must be 0 in my phone and my turkish friends wait something for us

So... Where's this Knox thing??

Hey all,
I have an s5 on EE in the UK.
Heard about this Knox security software. It shows in my list of installed apps yet I can't seem to locate where it is?
Also debating root... Not sure if it's worth it, but did want to have a look at Knox.
Thanks

knox is a security implemented by samsung, it is active in the background, has no app for that. basically it "protects" samsung warranty better than the triangle in download mode witch shows how many imes you flashed, if you had roted ur device, in download mode will show u have 0x1 warranty voided.<---- thats basically KNOX.

Ahh ok.. Thank you.

I check my insurance which I took out for my phone when I got it. They state that modifying or rooting will make my insurance void. How annoying. Is there some legality involved?
Thanks!

No. ^
KNOX is a security container -> a place where you install apps inside a secure container that cannot be tampered with on a high level TrustZone security algorithm.
It's great that the person above said what it essentially does to your device, but what he explained above is what happens when the TrustZone between the software and the hardware is breached during root/downgrade/unsigned flashing. This essentially would allow the viewer of the KNOX status to know when the device does not trust it's own body with secure enterprise level apps (Application Integrity), hence the KNOX warranty bit will be set from 0x0 to 0x1 meaning "I will not ever run a secure container anymore".
You won't find KNOX 2.0 on your device as this is now a paid service for enterprises at a rate of $3.60 and it is only set up on your device when you have the KNOX 2.0 kit deployed on your device, unlike KNOX 1.0 where you get to enter KNOX mode anytime you want.

Samsung pay wont work if you trip knox

Samsung is testing samsung pay in Korea and one of testers found out that s pay isnt working if knox is tripped. Attachment photo is screenshot from Korean tester in Korean android development community.
Noooooooo! I guess I'll be heading to my carrier store and try to exchange for a new Edge.
Thanks for the heads up, luckily I still have mine not tripped
that is so FAKE !
if it' in Korea, why is it in English ?

I think it's because the app is still in development. The one who posted that photo even showed text from Samsung that he got chosen as a tester few days ago. Koreans can read English btw.

Q:Will I be banned from using my card to pay? Will Samsung pay be global standard for future mobile payments?
Ans : Big Fcking Nooooo....
I'll be more than happy to run the device the way I want it than bother about Samsung pay..it takes same amount of time to insert your card and enter a pin...IMHO
I'm curious if it will still work if the Knox fuse it tripped bu then original software is re-installed to make it stock again. This is just saying it can't be used because of an unauthorized modification, not necessarily because of the Knox fuse...

Knox is a hardware fuse. Once tripped it can't be reverted via software..having said which once the Samsung pay app comes out there will surely be a development to make it work with Knox tripped devices..if that's not possible I'll remove my card and flash my card as usual..

Knox apps destroyed

Hi just got my s8 plus and I'm just wondering I want to root and been searching around about what tripping knox brakes but keep getting mixed views
I will be rooting and flashing a custom Rom and kernel would someone be kind enough to list every app that get broken and is not fixed even by a custom Rom or kernel (like iris scanner,s Health, ect)
As I really want to root but don't want to damage too many apps in the process
Many thanks also my model is the SM-G955F

No unfortunately not, Knox is a fuse on the motherboard. Once tripped it burns. So far only way to get Knox back would be to change the motherboard

Yes but the apps and system dont read the statuts directly from the bootloader but from the kernel, this is why there is a kernel that has faked 0x0 knox, but the fuse is still blown yes.

You can use terminal to change Knox to 0x0 but still. S health will work and some apps, but not secure folder or Samsung pay
so, knox tripped and rooted on stock unmodified rom :
safety net fail : (no apps like samsung pay, Pokemon go, Mario run, snapchat login ,etc)
no system updates
samsung apps won't work : samsung pass, samsung pay, Shealth, secure folder, issue with private mode on samsung internet,
if you use a custom rom most of stuff CAN be fixed like
safety net pass with magisk hide (root)
s health work
private mode on internet
BUT some are permanent and can't be fixed even with custom rom so once rooted , no way back except buy new phone
samsung pass, samsung pay, secure folder
Remember that once you are rooted and knox counter is tripped (0x1), its irreversible and can't be "unrooted" or be official and reset knox counter even by flashing stock firmware though odin because since galaxy s7 the knox counter is not software related but its hardware. its an electronic fuse and if you root or install custom recovery etc the electronic fuse will broke and broken fuse mean tripped knox counter. this is because even flashing stock firmware is useless, as most of Samsung apps knox related don't only check root but also the knox counter, so unroot won't help. so think twice before rooting your device

su
resetprop -v ro.config.tima 0
Type that in terminal. It will make Knox show 0x0 on device ONLY. Download mode will still show as 0x1.

its useless, Samsung knox apps dont check if they see 0x0 but it just put some electricity though the knox fuse and if it get though it its ok but if the electricity dont success to get through the fuse it mean its broken so I mean knox is 0x1 and rooted.
fake knox counter is useless as every knox eligibility checks are hardware and not software. fake 0x0 is only for you ^^to reset the counter only way is the replace the motherboard, even Samsung can't reset it

There has to be some hardware abstraction layer, you can't just test the fuse each time, that would mean that the apps have really low level rights/api to do so wich is risky. The bootloader tests the fuse and writes the value to the kernel, wich can be faked to make some apps work.
If the value is checked by apps then there is a software value other than the hardware status.
But dont quote me on that.
For apps that dont work i think there is some selinux policies issues or root gets detected.
Why would devs include the fake 0x0 counter if it was useless ?
darn making me think twice about rooting now i mainly want it for debloating, apps ad blocking,viper4android,and a few mods like stereo speaker and camera mod
also the youtube mod which allows us to stream 4k (i know we only have 2k display) but i still like to stream in 4k

I have rooted for the exact reasons you stated above. Wouldn't go back even if I could. Using the terminal code I posted allows you to use some apps that rely on 0x0. Samsung health is one of them as I use it every day.

to be honest ive rooted every device ive had dating back to the htc hd2 lol
that's why i sent the xperia xz premium back was due to locked bootloader which looks near impossible to root
ill properly root i just didn't want to destroy any apps which made any hardware not work properly but if everything works (apart from samsung pay and secure folder) which i don't use both then should be worth the trip lol :silly:

And also I can confirm Samsung pass doesn't work also. However I never use it so that doesn't bother me. To be honest I would root just for viper4android. And I use android pay instead of Samsung pay which also works perfect
Still haven't rooted yet darn cart make my mind up I've rooted every phone I've had and it's the first thing I normally do :silly:
Does anyone think there will be more knox apps coming out which if knox is tripped we will be missing out on
Or what if Samsung make a few more apps go through knox like s health or iris scanner then we would be stuck then lol
I don't know miss the good old days where you could just go back to stock no worrys

I don't think they will release anything else knox related. At least not for the s8 anyway
S health and iris scanner work perfect now after root, they won't implement them into knox status don't worry.

I had to root for viper4android amd I'm not running renovate ROM and it so much better than stock.
In my opinion android pay is better and it's supported in many places. But that's my opinion.
If you root I recommend rooting with magisk. So you can use magisk hide and modules. Good luck and post here if you need any help :good:
