2 Moto X codes for 2 helpful XDA members - Moto X General

I have two Moto X $150 off codes that expire at midnight tonight.
I'd like to give them to two board members who have been helpful.
Post a link in the thread to something helpful you contributed in the last week - answering someone's question, posting a review on a product, whatever.
I've got meetings all morning, and will pick two before I go to lunch and send out codes.

Great way to distro them. I'm in need but usually don't post a lot on xda only in PMs.
Stinkin s4 went for a swim yesterday.

DX2 Forum?

Are we going to get a Droid X2 Forum? Some folks will be getting that phone today.
Ask an admin not us. We don't make forum pages
I was wondering the same thing, so now we just have to find an admin.
Alright well. If I should remove this let me know. But I just got my DX2. Liking it so far. Not a whole lot of time with it yet though.
Send a pm to mrkite38. He is the admin of this forum
There's a thread in General to request new forums.
Wow, there is a droid bionic forum... Dont even know for sure if that will be the phone name. But no forum for a phone that is already out. Wheres the love

DroidxForums has lots of people posting on their DX2 forum. Time to start one.
XDA is the premier android/phone developer forum. Kind of disappointed right now. I'm just confused I guess. If someone could at least say why there is no DX2 Forum.
Does XDA not care about the DX2, do they feel it's a junk phone?
Does it take a long time to add a new group? DX2 was announced and then shortly after released. Is someone working on this, and we just need to wait. That's fine, I just don't know.
Do the right people not know some of us want a DX2 forum?
Does any one know? Should I keep coming back or is the DX2 dead on XDA?
As it was mentioned earlier, go to the general forum (not this, it is in the list of devices and called general discussion) and there is a thread to create new forums

Wow

Why would a mod close the sgs3 thread? It was a thread for fascinate owners who are considering upgrading. It was a discussion within this community by people who wanted opinions of others they have come to know and trust, not some fan boy who posts in the sgs3 forum. Why should I go there when the opinions I want are here. And it was in the general section ffs. I mean what was wrong with that, its not like it was posted in development. Get off your high horse, this is our community too.
Oh, and by the way, while you were closing this thread in general for no real reason, you missed two posts in development that don't belong. GTW

Since xda chooses not to assign mods who are a regular part of the community, mods routinely jump in with no sense of what is actually going on in the forum and go willy nilly. Then half the forum leaves and goes to rootzwiki until the mod loses interest.
Certainly not the first time this has happened.

Oh I know I just couldn't believe it happened to a benign general discussion thread is all.

a bunch of bs if you ask me...im suprised chef tony did that??
Edit: Never mind
I sent him a message at least asking why... I can't find any rules that we violated. this is why I've been bugging the admin to make either me, droidstyle, some well known person in the community a mod, it happens every few months that a mod comes in here and abuses their powers or something and pisses all of us off, we need somebody who is actually a part of the community that knows what is going on.
how come none of the threads that are in the wrong section have been fixed? how come the old threads from over a year ago that we keep requesting closes on are still open? how come the excess noob posts and things haven't been cleaned up at all? all that happened is some of our fun got ruined without him even giving a reason or explanation. just because you're a mod doesn't make you part of the community, or us not part of it. doesn't matter how much power somebody gives you if you use it wrong and on things you have no knowledge about.

Preach on. I've been on xda since the Eris and the fascinate forums since around launch. I really don't understand why xda stays with a mod system that it has clearly outgrown. The mods are good but the system sucks.

somebody should pm sixstringsg and see if he would reopen the thread.
Got a response from Chef_Tony. Here's our conversation.

hi,
maybe i should have given a further explanation, why i closed the thread, but since i did not read it entirely, i wouldn't want to comment on the contents.
i did not close it for a real rule violation, but simply for the reason that the fascinate general section should be exactly that, general discussion of the fascinate, tips, tricks and tutorials. of course, users of one particular device also get together to talk about other devices, but at 10 pages, i felt it got a bit out of hand, because the same thing goes on with every device and when people start talking about a number of other devices in every device's section, it might get a bit cluttered.
still, i know, what you are getting at. i am mostly active in the sgs2 forum and of course, people are discussing the sgs3 there as well, with aspects only relevant to existing sgs2 customers, like if it is a good idea to upgrade, when you already have the s2 and what plans allow you to change phone after a year and so on. i understand the fascinate thread was basically the same thing, it was targetted entirely at current fascinate users from north america, most of them on verizon plans. that is something you don't have in the sgs3 section, yet.
closing the thread was just a first step, the plan is to move the thread to the sgs3 section and re-label it to give current (and former) fascinate users a platform to discuss the sgs3, with actual s3 users to look into and maybe offer a helping hand, since they already know everything about the device, but would not actually go into other devices' forums to help people there.
this step will be done in a few minutes, then the thread will be re-opened and has a permanent re-direct from the fascinate section, so you can still visit it conveniently from your device's section.
as you see, at no point was there any issue with the thread itself, it is just some minor maintenance to keep the forum clean and organized, feel free to continue the discussion in a few minutes.

So basically he did it so that we could have a thread in the GS3 section for once we get our GS3s. Would have been nice for him to tell us that.
lol i think there are more important things that need to be accomplished here at xda. first step would be organizing that cluster f*** of a sgsIII forum.
I was reading Chef Tony's response and at first was thinking thats bs reasoining, than he made sense and I agree with him. And its still convenient cause I check this forum not the GS3 that often, and the thread is still here is fine. I was wondering where that thread went earlier haha.
I'm not seeing the thread on my phone any more, can somebody link to it please?

Here ya go.
Reading this thread has made me a bit nostalgic. I've become quite accustomed to the little family of Fascinate owners here, small but dedicated. It now seems very real that the sgsIIIs are packed up and ready to ship. Even our threads are leaving us.
I don't post a great deal, but I follow you guys all the time. I suppose it was inevitable that the sgsIII would break things up, but it's sad nonetheless.
For those of you heading to the next big thing, I'll almost certainly see you there eventually. For those staying, I look forward to further discussions about the little phone that could.
I echo your sentiments. It's a shame that the powers that be decided to deprive us of the ability to discuss an issue that effects the community within the community. A thread in the gs3 forums is great and all but it isn't the same as it does not have the same dynamics or personalities.
Anyway, I may eventually make it over to gs3 land but aokp and devil kernel is a really nice setup on this venerable device. I honestly don't know if I can live without aosp and aokp so I may make it there eventually or just say screw it and snag a galaxy nexus on the cheap.
It's been excellent folks. This is the first phone I've ever truly found to be superb. But most of that is because of the hard work put in from devs like jt1134, adrynalyne, nitsuj, stephen, and many many others.
Those of you who are staying, I'll see you around. Those who are leaving, ill catch up with you all eventually

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Community Links

Hi Guys,
Just a heads up that in November I'll be supporting the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on my site.
I'm making a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Community Links page for all Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owners. Obviously most of the links or resources will link back to XDA Developers, but the intention is to have the most relevant Galaxy Note 2 owner or new owner info in one quick-to-access place, especially for noobs who don't yet know about XDA.
The HTC Desire HD ROM lists will continue to be updated, as quite a few people still access the site for those lists. I'm getting the Galaxy Note 2 in November, so I'm waiting until then to test and see everything work on the device for myself (as I've done with the Desire HD).
Not everyone knows about XDA, so it's nice to introduce people to here.
If you'd like to send me your ideas of essential info or shortcuts, feel free to do so, via PM here at XDA or via the site.
Cheers.
Isnt that why we have stickies? Why go to your site to only hqve to come here anyway?
Sent from my GT-P3100 using xda premium
Yeah, that's right. For us regulars the stickies are easy to spot. For new people who don't know about XDA, they might appreciate a page with a few quick shortcuts to information. I think that's why the same people keep visiting the site to check the Desire HD rom list. It's a little quicker than searching through the development section.
I'm making it anyway. I love this stuff! :good:

This is all just a hobby for me, and so I went ahead and made a quick page here of Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Community Links.
As I mentioned before, it is primarily aimed at people who don't know about XDA yet (and therefore can't see the stickies - because they don't know XDA exists). Most of it links to XDA. I'll be adding other stuff and hopefully a few kind folk will recommend some other useful things which should be added, when I can get around to it.
I got my Galaxy Note 2 on release day here in Japan, on the 16th of November. I totally love it! :good:
If you think the page is worthy, please share it around on Facebook, Google+, Etc.
Just giving this thread a gentle nudge in case the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Community Links page can interest other members too.
Thanks to those of you who have given positive feedback here and there.:good:
Thanks for the inclusion of the Lowyat.net forum.

A quick explanation about the "versions" you see on the main page. Due to some database performance constraints, the mods ask that each thread contain only about 2500 posts, after which the "topic starters (TS)" or OP in XDA parlance need to start a new version.
I've also placed grantbarker.com in post 5 as additional resources.

HTC HD2 for sale

HTC HD2 for sale, approx. 2 years old, never dropped or gotten wet in very good condition but is due a system reboot soon as the last one was nearly 6 months ago. No time wasters please, this phone is in good condition and has been well looked after. Thanks
Please message me if you require any specific details.

What exactly do you mean by " but is due a system reboot soon as the last one was nearly 6 months ago"?
And how much are you asking? Anything more that $100 including all original accessories AND shipping would -really- be a waste of time.

#1- Why are you bringing up an old thread?
#2- Selling & Buying on XDA is no longer allowed. Please read the forum rules.
Guys,
this is not the market place, as the chap above states, selling is not allowed on XDA.
Please do not discuss selling on xda is such a fashion, the thread will be closed and you may receive an infraction.
This thread is closed and relevant posts deleted.
Thanks.

Desperately need this for Nexus 7

Hello everyone. I must apologize if this thread does not belong her. I just desperately need help. I have posted a similar thread in another category but I think it didn't get much attention so I'll repost it here.
"I have ran out of options and finally decided to take this step, not really sure if it will work but still hoping though that it will. I have come here to ask for help from developers and people with great knowledge in these things. Here is my situation. My friend bought a gmate+ device abroad as a gift for me here in Philippines and unfortunately, this device can only be used in the country it was bought in. After reading things in the manufacturer's site and contacting them (they have a very not-so-satisfying customer service, sorry to mention this), it seems that there really is no cure for my case unless I have it ship back and ask for refund then buy a new one here instead, which is also almost impossible because I do not have the receipt(the item was just given to me without any receipt) and I do not know exactly from which store my friend purchase it(and according to him, he is also unsure from which store exactly because he went shopping for things as gifts not in just a single store or place). So to make the story short, I now have a useless piece of device which could have been really great for my Nexus 7 if only it works. The gmate+ is a device sold by the company Skyroam. This is a bluetooth device which allows an Android or iOS running gadget to have the ability to use GSM service through it via bluetooth pairing and software. I do not know if it is really hard, but I'm thinking ( actually hoping and praying ) that maybe somebody here could do something about my case, perhaps build a workaround via a software/app. I would really appreciate it if anybody would take time to work on this project. Additional info which may help, if anybody's interested, I'm running the stock update Android 4.3 for the Nexus 7 2012 (now rooted via wugfresh's toolkit).
Thanks and more power! "
This is a forum for only developers to post kernels and roms. Post this in the general or q&a.
