Samsung knox. - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

when im on download mode, this what my phone has on the top right of the screen:
Product name: GT-I9505
Current Binary : Custom
System status: Custom
CSB-DEM_CONFIG_LSB: 0x30
WRITE PROTECTION: Enable
how come it's 0x30? :/
they say if it doesnt have any 0x0 thingy, warranty can still be up. but when has 0x0 or 0x1, warranty would be voided. How come i have 0x30? :/
EDIT: All i did was flashed the CF Auto root, flashed slim rom, then flashed philz recovery and installed GoldenEye rom, theme etc. I never did install bootloader. :/

You still have 4.2.2 knox free bootloader, so you have not yet warranty bit activated. That 0x30 is a different thing.

I mean it's any Samsung control info, but nothing to do with warranty bit, knox bit, new bootloader or what ever you want to call it...

Hi,
No.
Yes, there is a way.
When you download using Odin, un select restart. On getting pass from Odin, remove battery and re insert. Get it to flash mode. This will install cwm. Job done. Rest as per other threads. Hope this helps.

If you have i9505, you can try mobile odin. Not yet sure if it does increase bit.

Mobile odin is not a custom recovery. It is just an apk from Google play...

Yes, last versions flash zip files, but you need to be installed a custom recovery, which could be flashed with mobile odin, maybe (not sure) increasing the Knox bit (because the recovery flashing, but because zip flashings)...

Ok, so the only problem with flashing different kernels and recoveries and whatnot with the newest samsung update is that knox will be set to 0x1? (For the 9505)
I've been reading some threads but haven't been able to find a definite answer on whether the bootloader is actually completely locked like in the latest S4 AT&T updates, where you can't install custom kernels or recoveries, or that you can actually flash anything and the only harm is the 0x1 on knox, which i don't care.
Are things flashable with the knox bootloader on the 9505 international/sim unlocked version of the s4?

HELP!! Odin failure

Hi everyone. I was trying to flash a firmware with Odin 3.04 and it was "fail" all the time and then it appeared a message in the phone saying "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." I don't know what to do. I can't turn it off, I just can get to the download mode and it shows this message.
Help me please!!
Take the battery off, put it in again, go to download mode then and try flash OTHER firmware. :highfive:

No, It won't kill your phone.
Is your phone a S4 I9500 or a S4 I9505?
What firmware were you trying to flash?

OK
It's I9505, and I was trying to flash MH1 (non company Spanish, without knox, 4.2.2). Now I'm waiting for a firmware to download and I'm going to try another procedure that I've found in a spanish forum. It's MF8 I think. If I can't solve this, I will take it to the technical service on monday.
If your phone had a later version of software (with KNOX bootloader) installed before, then downgrading through Odin will fail. Is that the case?

1. I9505 must be flashed with odin 3.09 (except cfautoroot)
2. anyway, if you have actually android 4.3, installing any stock 4.2.2 with any odin version will fail.

Currently I have 4.2.2, so theoretically if I flash 4.3 the problem would be fixed, right??
Btw, probably I will have to flash a firmware with Knox, is it possible to install roms (like cyanogenmod) with Knox activated??

If you actually have 4.2.2 without knox bootloader (are you really sure of this?) and you are trying to flash another 4.2.2 without knox bootloader, you shouldn't have any problem with odin 3.09 (others odin versions could fail in some situations...)

Why would you flash a 4.3 stock rom ? you should flash a 4.2.2 pre-rooted rom then install a triangle away to reset the binary and then install Philz recover (any recovery) then download any custom rom you want . and Stay away from flashing any stock 4.3 via odin because your gonna get infected! have a nice day.

4.2.2 with knox bootloader? Can you upload a picture of your download mode screen or write here if you see there any string similar to "warranty bit..." or "... Knox...." or whatever you read in download mode?

Knox kernel lock: 0x0
Knox warranty void: 0x0
csb-config-lsb: 0x30
write protection: enable
sw rev. check fail: fused: 2, binary: 1
That's it. I've tried with a technical service package (pit, bootloader, csc, phone/modem, pda) with odin 3.07 and nothing happened.

Yes, you have the first knox rom which Samsung published (a 4.2.2 room with knox bootloader) , so you can only flash stock 4.3 roms, otherwise odin will give you error. Download and flash last 4.3 rom using odin 3.09 better than 3.07 (3.07 is full compatible with i9500, but isn't with i9505, 3.09 is).

Odin 3.09 was specifically made for LTE version of S4 (i9505). You could have inconsistent issues on any partition such as baseband partition.

This is the solution, 4.3+odin 3.09, it was kind of obvious. Thank you very much to all of you. I'm still with knox, but at least I've got a phone.

Note 3 n9005 - Current Binary

I'm in need a help with my Galaxy Note 3 n9005.
I have rooted my Note3 by kingoapp and now, seeing in Odin Mode the CURRENT BINARY was changed to CUSTOM and the KNOX WARRANTY VOID to 0x1.
I know that there is not way to reset the KNOX WARRANTY VOID.
The questions is: When I try do Software Update I get a message that is not possible do Software Update because I have changed my android.
Is still possible change my CURRENT BINARY Custom to Samsung Official? And if it be possible, the Software Update will work?
How can I change my CURRENT BINARY: Custom to Samsung Official?
Thx.

[Q] Factory reset knox 0x1 and root

A quick question, if i do a factory reset a reroot will i get a second flag to knox? i'm already with 0x1 (1)
Nope once tripped it will stay there. No way to change it now.
I don't mean 0x0 but next to that there is a counter, I don't know what exactly counts
You're talking about the flash counter. I believe so... But why would you mind? It doesn't affect warranty issues.
Yes the flash counter, just want to be sure, thanks

Root or install custom recovery, ROM, Kernel == Set knox 0x1
and you can't Reset knox flag....

[Help] Backing up stock recovery

Hello everyone , I just bought a brand new galaxy s5 g900f and I was wondering before flashing custom recovery on it , is there any way way to back up the stock recovery before flashing?
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Stock recovery comes with stock ROM, possible you could extract and flash separately, but not seen anything about that
Not really much point, if you want to return to stock, just flash stock
Thank you my friend i have returned the phone to the retailer and got another one and i have checked that the download mode product number is the same as the rom pruduct number and the box
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
One last question , sorry i know I've asked alot of newbie questions but i cant believe i got this phone again ?, does puting custom recovery or rom etc voids my warranty ?
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Custom recovery etc trips the KNOX flag, which many places check for warranty, if it is tripped (0x1) then they could refuse warranty
Apparently in Europe you can still claim warranty under some legal garble with tripped KNOX, but if you want to be 100% sure, make sure it doesn't trip
0x0 = warranty valid
0x1 = warranty invalid
Check in download mode again
-
Good choice returning the phone
If the knox warranty becomes 0x1 is it possible to make it 0x0 again? Or is there away to flashy phone without triggering knox warranty void?
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Nope, and all the info is here, read some
I'll do that then , thank you ao much for your help ??
