So I was using a custom rom - SmoothRom (I'm kind of a newbie to this whole thing) and it was getting really unstable. So I wanted to unroot and restore my tablet. So I clicked it all and it and it seemed to work well and now when I power on it says 'bootup failed'. I cant post on the developers page and it directed me to post here. I sincerely hope one of you guys can help me out here. I'll miss my N7 if I cant.
edit: the bootloader wasnt working (whatever that means) so I just had to force flash it and it ended up working. Much more trouble than it was worth...

Hi guys i know Brian117 originally posted this and sc2k helped him fix hes tablet i apologize for not continuing the thread
but its been almost 8 hours since i bricked my tablet. i can't take it anymore i tried alot of things i search Google for answers until i gave up.
Im not a pro but im not new to flashing roms so i originally installed CWM from the "it's Magic" post from sc2k i did it successfully then installed
Dexter's primee rom successfully aswell no problem. Once i discover Virtous picasso rom, Honey Villain rom i decided to test them out aswell
see witch one fit my liking so i did successfully. After seeing Virtous galaxy i decided to check it out i did i got an error at boot so after posting
my error some suggested i update my CWM so i was able to boot into galaxy rom loved it then i downloaded "update-recovery-thor2002ro-rev1.3.4"
from the instruction i gathered im suppose to just flash it through CWM so i did and it said that i succesfully flashed it now reboot into CWM to see
the changes so at this point i thought heck yeah!! then to my surprise i reboot it the tablet and was greeted to " secure boot: image SOS checksum fail!" so i then tried a normal reboot the ACER logo just stood there hanging looking back at me laughing.
Before i originally installed CWM i followed all instruction so i have all my back ups and UID saved on my PC. i Already pm sc2k about see if he can help me
but i thought i post the whole processed of what i did to avoid others bricking their tablet aswell and hopefully in the mean time if any of you guys have any suggestions, tips i gladly welcome them since i cant return it to staples anymore i have to deal with Acer if i cant get it to work. Also I fully understand this is a risk i took and not blaming no one for my error all im asking is for help
u done one wrong step, u didnt run its magic before installing thor recovery i think..
I am pretty sure that thor explains in his thread that you should flash his "update-recovery-thor2002ro-rev1.*.*" files only if you allready have his version of recovery installed.
So you should have installed the full "recovery-thor2002ro-rev1.3.4.rar" as described in 1st post of his thread and not just try to flash the update-recovery file.
Maybe thor or sc2k can help you now..
I think the problem was that your original cwm was an older version that did not run itsmagic automatically on startup and the update package doesn't run it either. I'm so glad to see someone who has backups!
Don't know if this will help.. The hang at the logo is usually an indication of needing to do a data wipe after installing a custom rom. Was the tablet booting normally before flashing the cwm update?
Anyway, this thread from sc2k demonstrates a method to wipe data. You can see if that will help get you past the logo screen. If it does, great.. run itsmagic, then you should be able to get back into recovery.
If it doesn't help, you'll need to ask sc2k how to unbrick via nvflash (that's what mcblk0_start file is for).
Edit: aw man..I just realized I forgot the link.... ah well

How do I PM SC2K. I have the same issue with my a500. LNX Checksum error. I Need Help!!! Please Help.
Hey guys let me start by saying I have done quite a bit of searching and im not a total noob when it comes to this stuff. I have still been unable to find an answer to my questions...
So basically I have a Droid 2 and I flashed the CM9 ICS Alpha onto it had it running great (Cant wait to get past alpha ) But due to the fact that its an alpha and really nothing works I wanted to go back to my librity rom... I tried to boot into recovery and that caused a boot loop instead of booting into recovery.
So from there I went to flash the stock SBF onto the phone and it keeps just getting stuck in a boot loop even when flashing the stock SBF. What have I done! lol How do I get this thing back to a factory setup?
I would really like to figure this out but if I cant I will be putting another mobo in it as that may be the easier solution haha
Thanks for taking the time to help me with this and if you know somewhere this has already been discussed please direct me to it as I could not find it...
Nevermind lol
I was able to get it to boot by booting into recovery and running the factory reset. But I had already tried that once before posting this and it had not worked...
Well anyway all is good for me now maybe this will help someone eventually have a great day.
I apologize for posting in the wrong thread for this question, if i am, please redirect to the correct thread..
I was trying to load up a custom rom and i did everything necessary for me to run a custom rom, but i forgot i cant mount my sd card and now im stuck with note 10.1 that has no rom on it. I cant revert because i wiped everything so my backup is gone and so is my custom rom i was going to install. I know im a moron but it really did slip my mind.. i havent updated since december.
My question is, "can i unroot to go back to factory settings with a mac?" or "can i still install a custom rom with a mac some way some how?"
For the past 2 hours i have been searching and found no results..
I dont have a windows computer, im stuck with a mac until next week and i already have the roms (custom and factory) downloaded and ready to install. im working until 4pm tomorrow and i have all my stuff on my note (games, movies, ect) to keep me busy so im in need of some help or some directions on where to start. I noticed a thing called Heimdall 1.4.0 but i seriously dont know how to use that and i dont want to brick my device..
Any help at this point would be great, if not, thanks anyways..
by the way, im using clockworkmod recovery v6.0.1.1.. Thanks again
Hi guys,
I am new to this Forum and I am German so please understand that my english is not the best.
A few days ago I flashed my Nexus 7 (2012) with the newest Ubuntu Touch Version after having android before. After succesfully flashing the device with the OS it booted with no problem but UbuntuTouch didn't quite come to my expectations, so I decided to switch back to Android. I tried that by simply following the steps that are suggested on the Ubuntu webpage but that did not work out. I tried to just load the Android package to tablet in some other way but now I have the problem, that UbuntuTouch is still installed but when I try to boot it, it gets stucked in a bootloop.
I already tried to "wipe data/factory reset" in the recovery mode but it isn't working. At least bootloader and recovery mode are working fine.
I hope there is some way you can help me solve my problem, if there is anything unclear feel free to ask.
Daniel
I'd suggest asking in the Nexus 7 forum. They know what to do. We probably don't as it's different for every device and the chance that someone comes around who has a Nexus 7 as well is much higher in the Nexus 7 forum. (You know why. ^^)
Please add whether you own the 2012 or 2013 model. Then report your own post by clicking on the orange triangle on the right side of your post and in the text field describe that you want your thread to be moved (ask politely ). Then it'll be in the N7 forum and the people over there will be able to help you. Good luck.

Hello everyone! I'm brand new to the forums so if I am breaking any rule or regulation, just give me a heads up. So, some basic information about my predicament.
- own a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 from Verizon.
- I use t-mobile network. Works great with no problems.
- phone was successfully rooted via towel root.
I was looking to get cynagenmod on the phone so I started looking up guides and such. Only thing I wasn't aware of was that carrier branded versions can't have their recovery flashed. That said, I used flashify and the clockwork apk. The app did its job, killed the stock recovery, but couldn't load the new one. Now the phone says error, no recovery when trying to access it during boot.
It should be said that the phone still boots and works normally but I really want to get the recovery working so I can at least try again the right way to get cynagenmod working.
My question is, is it possible to get my hands on the stock recovery for my phone and just flash it back to how it was? Basically, how do I fix this problem I put myself in. Of course, I didn't make backups. During the whole process, I figured "if I follow this tutorial word for word, why bother with backups?" look how wrong I was
Any help would be sincerely appreciated. I'm posting this from my replacement phone, not my note 3.
