Improve 3D intensive Games performance on Xperia SP - Xperia SP General

I've noticed that SP performs much smoother with the following tweaks, for GPU intensive games like Nova 3 etc...
Must have a rooted Rom!
Install Trickster Mod
Go into Governor control and set
Up_Threshold to 60
Set GPU governor to Performance (this will make it run 400 mhz constantly)
Turn MP-Decision Off (this will make both cores active all the time)
Battery drain will be higher then normal,
I advise you to change them back to normal after playing your games.
Regards

Update
Update,
switch to Interactive Governor and apply.
performance is smoother in my opinion.
I tested gameplay using this governor only (No other CPU/GPU tweaks) and it was as good if nor better than the OP tweaks.
regards

I havent't installed those games yet, but Try Ram manager as advised above,
if not try these minfree settings, (in Megabytes)
Foreground App 8
Visible App 14
Seconder Server 114
Hidden App 130
Content Provider 145
Empty App 160
I haven't had any crashes yet. Plus this rees up plenty or Ram, Typically have ~300MB plus.
You can use an App like the Trickster Mod (Donate version) or Autokiller Memory Optimizer, Ram manager pro etc to change these settings.

[Q] Why is my defy always has 80-70 free memory ??

i can't play any game its mostly only 80mb free or around that, should i use a Task killer or somthing ? im using ms2ginger overclocked it with setcpu , i did install ram manager but its the same anyidea how to get more free memory i cant play muffin knight anymore lol i use to play it on cm7 thanks .
Android system frees up ram as and when it needs to, so if the game requests for more memory android will kill some apps which are not running and free up space.
I also use ms2ginger, dont use any task manager and all the games ive tried work just as well as how it used to in cm7(including gta3).
So your problem must be something else
oh well its lagging , it must be something else maybe !!
well Im using Advanced Task killer on stock Defy+ rom with some own deblur.
After start it has 200MB free, later about 100. When using taskiller on the lowest risk option, it frees about 50MB to 150MB.
But I thought that more RAM using drains more battery ... or am I not right?
he is right, dont worry about the available memory..! android will allocate sufficient memory for the running program, which in your case is the game you're playing...
if you are experiencing lags while gaming, its because of the cpu voltage and frequency...!
i believe you are using some cpu app... increase the voltage for each frequency for when you start playing games..!
i am on Wajkiui... with 60-70mb free ram, i can play Modern Combat 3... but when the voltage is low, i get lags..! so i go back and increase the voltage and it plays well...
use setvsel... for settling cpu voltage and freq.
for gaming;
35v-300
45v-600
60v-1000
for normal use;
18-300
28-600
48-1000

[2015.02.24] PerfMon v1.21 - Floating Performance Monitor

PerfMon is a "floating" performance monitor tool. It shows on top of any other app you are running. Aside from being useful for powerusers wanting to know what their device is doing, it is a great tool to use during debugging and profiling.
PerfMon offers you four categories of metrics:
- Foreground App
- CPU
- Disk I/O
- Network I/O
PerfMon will also show you a new and unique-to-PerfMon performance metric: "CPU Capacity Usage". The CPU usage percentage traditionally used to measure and compare how much of the computational resources an app (or the entire device) is currently using does not make sense in a mobile multi-core setting. The capacity metric will take the CPU usage and scale it to what it would be if all cores were running at full capacity.
For example: if you have a 1.6ghz quad-core running a light app, it could be using 10% CPU with only one of the four cores active, and that core running at 200mhz. If you translate that to all four cores running at 1.6ghz, that app is using only 0.3% of total CPU capacity.
It's the only CPU Usage metric that makes any sense!
Foreground App
This window shows metric of the currently foreground (running and visible) application:
- Application title
- Application package name
- Memory usage total (in megabytes)
- Dalvik, Native, and Other memory usage (in megabytes)
- Overall CPU Usage (normal percentage and capacity)
- User and System CPU Usage (normal percentage)
CPU
This window displays overall CPU metrics:
- Capacity usage and current divider
- Overall CPU usage percentage
- Per-core CPU usage percentage and megahertz
Disk I/O
This window displays the disk I/O metrics of your MMC-based storage devices. Usually, mmcblk0 is your internal flash, and mmcblk1 is your removable SD-card. Please note that currently MTD-based storage is not supported by this display. Also note that the metrics displayed are raw I/O, so if the OS has I/O requests buffered/cached, you will not see anything happen here.
- Per-device read and write kilobytes/second
Network I/O
This window displays the network I/O metrics of your network interfaces.
- Per-interface transmit (Tx) and receive (Rx) kilobytes/second

I'm using a highly customized rom in a sgs2 (chamaleon 1.3), maybe that is the problem...

Wow great, I was looking for something like this so long.
Overlay tools like cool tool has always caused a drop in benchmark performance. Will test this tool now
Edit:
It dosent affects the benchmark scores at all, NenaMark2,2.3 had a few fps drop, nothing else noticed.
@ chainfire
With all this done is there a way to monitor the frame rate of the ui in jb roms? This would be a killer feature.

Great job! If there is an option to monitor the GPU proccessing speed or fps (of course, if it is possible to do so...never found an app that does that), the app would be prefect for all developers/end users to monitor their phone...but anyway, it is already good!no other apps are comparable to this!
Thanks Chainfire, you never rest do you. You always seem to make apps that end up in my "Must Have's" Even on WM daze. At least HTC isn't stealing your work....bla bla....

Just installed. Haven't bought it from the play store yet but I plan on it. Really nice work. Thank you.
Great tool! wow working great on my GS3 sgh-i747 runnin AOKP + Ktoonez kernel
Awesome! But why does it needs to keep running in background after all floating windows are closed.
Shouldn't doing so also exit the app.
Add GPU info floating window and FPS window and this is GOLD!

Best performances in games on LG L3

Hello, my name is Felipe ('m brazilian my english can be bad) and I was wondering how to have high performance in games one example is GTA Vice City
in my L3 it is very slow, hangs and reboots my phone yet!
I use the Fusion Xperia rom 1.2 no swap usage, usage 1.0 Ghz overclock
then how could have a performance coming to Xperia Mini Pro?
Make it faster with this(Seeder)
If rooted download Seeder its not free u have to pay for it.(or just crack it "illegal" )
And when u install it ,open it, and select the switch button right to "Seeder lag reducion" text. Grant SuperUser privileges. And it should make less lag. Hit thanks if helps u.
Sent from my LG-E400 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
dude, you have single core and old gpu, you won't have a better performance, get a better phone if you want that.
gltools
i suggest u to use gltool!!!
i play pretty smoothly fifa 14 on cyanoid 15(which for me is not very stable and i dont know why )
i also played asphalt 8 but not very playable
i also tried gta san andreas and without gltools when i died it chrashed instead of when i use gltools with which i played it very well
it's compatible with both 4.0.4 and 2.3.6
can u show me how to use gtool, it's diffficult to use. i consider upgrading to cyanoid #15. cyanoid runs game smoothly or not?
it's not difficult

it's not difficult to use it...if you are already rooted you have to install apk and the install the drivers with the app(check the Others 2 options), give him superuser permission and then it will reboot
after that u have to select the game from the menù of the app once u opened it and then you have to select disable on anisotropic, in some games also 16bit trasparency cuold help but it make some games crash, select also optimize glsl and then on the texture section select texture scale and set it to 0.5 or 0.25(it will make some texture of menu of the game bad) and if you want more performance you can downscale it more and more or even go to resolution rendering and select 0.5(0.25 displays the game very bad and even 0.5 doesnt make it good but if you wanna reduce the res on a low res phone the result cant be different)
hope i helped you

Optimize your XPlay to get up 4x more Battery Life for Gaming [Manual Clock Method]

After some research, I noticed that the current Governor/Scheduler are more efficient in optimizing battery life when our phone is in idle mode. While playing games, they tend to use the maximum performance available, thus draining the battery quickly.
To fix this, I started testing some games and emulators in order to meet the minimum clock needed to run each application. For example, Bruce Lee, great 3D game that accompanies the Xperia Play, is able to run perfectly with just 400MHz. FIFA 12; 500MHZ. Thus, you can easily multiply your playing time, leveraging much more your Xplay.
Below, gradually, i will provide a list of applications and their requirements for clock, based on the information that is being provided by the community and by me.
Angry birds - 200MHZ - 300MHZ
Need for Speed Most Wanted - 300MHZ
NES.emu(NES EMULATOR) - 300MHZ
Neo.emu(NEOGEO EMULATOR) - 300MHZ
SuperGNes(SNES EMULATOR) - 300MHZ
Bruce Lee - 400MHZ
Sonic Episodes I & II - 400MHZ
FIFA 12 - 500MHZ
GTA VICE CITY - 500MHZ
Modern Combat 4 - 700MHZ
now provide me a clock tool that has automatically switching clock profiles on app-basis.
e.g.
-i'm on the "desktop" then its profile is set -> 400mhz
-i'm running snes emu so its profile is used untill im back on the desktop -> 300mhz
^^
Freq
Heres some:
Modern Combat 4 = 700mhz - No lag for me on my rom, (W/ Wifi)
Angry birds - 200 mhz
Need for Speed most wanted - 300mhz
Some more:
GTA 3:
400mhz
U can try tasker,I use this for 3 years now

You can use SetCPU, it have option for profiles.
There's an app called PerApp on F-Droid, it s for free.
There xyou can set settings on perapp basis, it has also the cpu clock fubction.
can u test heroes of order and chaos? i always use 1.4ghz lol
you sure about 300Mhz for NFSMW ? it makes races slow-motioned and doubles loading time for me , I think 700Mhz is the minimum

Have you tried custom kernel? or GameTuner from PlayStore, change resolution and will be good
Well you have 2 options:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-gltools-1-29-t2828630
this one is an per app graphics config. You can choose witch app to run on what resolution and you can set filters like MSAA and antistropic filtering and such.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nomone.resolution_changer&hl=nl
2nd one changes the resolution of your whole system to gain more framerate but things may crash like touchwiz and keyboard.
I my self use GLtools the most and i'm pretty happy with the functionality.
Offcourse you need ROOT for both of these apps.

Snapdragon version is bad for gaming, no way around it, but since you are still on lollipop, you should install Xposed & wanam xposed module & disabe dvfs, it used to work for me, but ever since I updated to marshmallow, I am out of luck since xposed is not working now
