SBF?
same happened to me, had an extra dx laying around thought. Good Luck

Ty and hey good luck on the KK build looks like you`re getting there. I wonder if they have this on the Captivate yet? I picked up a cracked one that works for 35. But i miss my X not wife lol. If you know of anyone with a battery ill send 2 that i know can be charged for 1 fully charged i have 4 one is a bh5x

You know now that i think of it. I got the X from someone at Amazon used and it was 40% charged and it was on stock never rooted or updated and i updated it to the latest update. Couldnt have that cause the battery to drain. Also i see where it sits at 0% and doesnt charge. Now its at bootloader cannot program battery too low. I know the batteries are good. After the update it would sit at 20% and not charge and finally went to 0. Is this a motherboard issue or did the update do this? Any suggestions

I'm not a hundred-percent sure, was it in the charging screen or actually on? I would try an sbf, but I suspect the battery is bad, its no problem if your on stock, or not on 2int, then just plug in the battery and charger and it should show you the battery screen. otherwise either the battery or board is dead. Make sure to plug it Directly into the wall and not pc, otherwise nothing would happen.
---------- Post added at 06:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:22 PM ----------
Also instead of sending batteries, bad idea, use a charger like this:
http://www.cellphoneshop.net/mbbach.html
that way you know its not the battery.

All 4 batterys cant be dead it just sits at 0%. But maybe ill try an get an external charger and go from there. But it could be the board. When i received the phone i turned it on there was 60 % and i updated the latest and after that it was 40% and sat at 20 then went dead

where does it sit a 0% 2ndint (battery and percent) or system? how is it on when there is 0%? I know for a fact that the phone cant be on without a battery. I tried it. also that could be a cheap fix, it wont recharge the battery, but at least it uses it.

Well now its at battery too low cannot program. But when it was at 0% it would show red and battery icon and trying to charge but would just sit there. I have a feeling it could be the board it would almost have to be wouldnt it. But why would it let me update from 60% and after it was 40 but went to 20 fast but held at 20 for awhile until it went to 0. Im not doing the wire thing lol. Done that before im just going to get the external charger when i can afford it or if you know of someone that has a fully charged battery they can send. Are you in the states? If so maybe i could send it to you

Yeah but I believe I'm on the other side... anyway you would have to send it to me every time you want to charge if its the board. To tell you the truth I suspect the ROM now. There is a limit of battery to reserve and it could be set to high, what ROM are you on? You may be able to just fix it your self if it is the board. it could be a bad connection, you could soudder (the pen like thing that gets hot ) it. there was a video on youtube showing the insides so you could compare it.

Im back at 0% maybe its charging ill have to see. I notice at the top of the compartment where you install the battery in the bay. Its pushed in and i lifted the battery not so deep where the frame is pushed in and it started showing 0%. Ill let you know in awhile what happens

Pic showing percentage. Notice no green light on at top. At 10% just checked still at red of course.. And this with one of the other batteries ive had supposedly dead lol. BH 6x. I will check back. Still at 10%

On but still sitting at 10% and says charging. Ok its very slow charging at 15 %

[Q] Charging battery for the first time

Hi, I got my Defy today. I put the mobile for charging 2 hours ago. I'd like to know for what period should I put it for charging as it is the first time for optimum performance of the battery..
I tried searching the forum for a similar question but didn't find any. Please delete this post if it is a an already answered question.
Doesn't matter. May be charge it for some 2 hours more. You can't overcharge the battery - it has protection. For optimum performance, just don't drain the battery to 0%, although it has protection for this too.
Ok, thanks, its already been 2 hours since the battery reached 100% mark. Will stop charging now.

Although it is generally said that a new battery should be charged for at least 8 hours before use, it may not be necessary. Just fully charge it. However, the capacity may be lower and unstable at first. If charged too quickly, just take it out and reinsert it, and connect the charger, again.
What I normally do is charge it till 100% and disconnect.
Then every month, I'll use up the battery till it shuts itself down, turn phone off, charge it till full.
Any other time, will plug into mobile charger whenever I'm in the office till it's 100% and use it thereon.
Both answeres after mine, are for the old nicd batteries. For liion batteries it is bad to overcharge and discharge to min. Anyway, as i said, there is soft and hard protection for this, so n.p.

Under NO CIRCUMSTANCE!!! I MEAN NONE! that you allow ur batt to goto 0% or you will be effed royally by Defy. I and many others faced this. If your battery is like 15% you either charge it instantly by USB or if you have no means then just turn it off and charge in wall charger when you go home. Just don't ever let your defy goto 0% battery because if it does, you like me and many others will be stuck to M logo or white LED ****.

Not likely. Battery stats has absolutely nothing to do with reported charge level. Wiping it will have the same effect as clearing his market search history... None at all.

Are you using the charger that came with the Nexus 7? 'Cause the same thing happened to me last month. I used a charger I got from ebay, plugged it in, charged all day, came back, unplugged it, turned on & said it was in the red!
Same thing happened to me shortly after I had the N7.... and that was with using the supplied mains charger and cable.
All I did was leave it alone for a further hour and when I then went back to check the screen it had jumped all of 13%.
I was tempted to return the N7 but as it was night and I couldn't return it I left it on charge overnight...... The following morning it was 100% charged.
Since then it's been charged dozen's of times and not once been a problem since (says he touching wood).
My problem is that it wont show that its charging even tho it is. Tried all chargers i have and even the stock one is same. Was going to return it but all the horror stories I've heard i decided not going to bother. Chances are i get a worse unit back. Personally it looks like the connector is not going all the way in. I am going to shave some of the plastic off and see if that helps. Anyway I think Google needs better quality control at Asus and even at Samsung, i remember how my Gnex was packaged.

[Q] Major Battery Problems with Nexus 4 - Help Please

Backstory: I've had my Nexus 4 since December 2012. I lived in San Francisco using T-Mobile through August 2013, and I've just moved to Sydney. I got a new sim through Vodafone here, and everything went well. Though my battery did drain a bit faster than usual, I employed Greenify and pretty much solved my problems. Fast forward to this weekend, I used my phone heavily all day and turned it off once it hit 2%. After getting back home for the night, I used it heavily while charging and everything battery/power wise and otherwise was behaving as expected. I went to bed with my phone draining and at roughly ~40% (making a guess) and not on the charger. I woke up at ~3AM, put the phone on the charger, and when i woke up at 6AM, it had only charged to 67%. This was my first sign something was wrong as I usually get a full charge in less than 3hrs. Over the course of the day, I monitored my phone and notice that whether on or off it charges extremely slowly as in 6+ hours still doesn't get to 100%. Additionally, using the phone while it's on the charger is net negative on the battery's charge as in it decreases albeit very slowly while using it on the charger.
I had my phone plugged in last night, and took it off the charger at 2AM at 100%. When I woke up at 6:15AM, I took the following screenshots (attached).
You can see that over 4h 15m off the charger and with no use the phone drained 44% with 37% coming from phone idle, 23% from cell standby, and 15% from wi-fi. This seems ridiculous to me. Can anyone help? What kind of troubleshooting can I do? It feels to me like this is hardware related as I get the problems whether the phone is on or off, but I'm not sure. I'm currently rooted and using AOKP Milestone 2. Here's a screenshot from about phone (attached).
Thanks for any help in advance! I'm really hoping to be able to fix this with software changes as I'd hate to have to buy a new phone with the Nexus 5 right around the corner.

Is anything wrong with your battery? If it is in very bad shape, you should probably get a new battery.
I don't know that even excessive wake-locks would cause a phone to charge that slowly, especially a Nexus 4.
Was it on the dedicated wall charger? Have you tried multiple chargers? Multiple wall sockets?

94.64 degree fahrenheit for the battery. Is that high?
edit: Mine says 95 degrees
It seemed that google play services was sucking most of the juice, but this isn't always the case. I decided I was just going to go with flashing a new ROM, but even with USB debugging on and Connect as Media Device checked off in USB Computer Connection, I can't get my computer to recognize my phone via USB. I've tried this with two different cords, multiple ports on my computer, and even with a friend's computer. I'm starting to think my phone has just completely **** itself. Any advice?

your body temperature averages 98.6F. keeping your phone off and in a tight pocket on a warm day could raise the temperature to 95F. so, is 95F high?
Got exactly the same problem, already replaced the battery, but that wasn't the problem. Can t RMA because I'm not on the country Where it has been bought, so I'm really with my hands tied in here.
I already thought it could be the Qualcomm Power manager (IIRC) that is damaged, but that chip is soldered onto the mainboard..

Replacement Battery - Capacity Problems

Hello guys,
After more than 1 year I thought about buying a new battery for better battery life. I just did it and here is the problem: the capacity which my phone shows is totally wrong. The battery percentage jumps from 70 to 85 and from 85 to 100% during charging in some minutes. And it drops from 100% after plugging it off the charger to 88 or 85%. It is really curious. So I thought maybe the new battery is damaged and I ordered a new one. But I have the same problem with this new one. OK, I thought maybe it is just a displaying a wrong value but this new battery is lasting less than my old battery. Is there a way to calibrate the new battery to get a real full charge and right values?
Thanks and regards

Usually you want to condition a new battery by charging it all the way up to 100% and wait about an hour with it still on the charger. Then completely discharge the batter until the phone shuts off. Perform these steps two or three times and you should be good to go.

NO. There is no need for this. Evidence and experiences from other N4 users has shown that discharging till it shuts off will cause a red light of death brick. I advise not to follow such a method.

Are you kidding me! So you're telling everyone using a Nexus 4 that they should never take their phone off the charger for fear of getting the red light if their phone goes dead? My phone goes dead all the time and I don't have this issue. Sure the phone won't turn on right away after putting it on the charger from being totally dead, but after it gets some juice back in the battery it works fine again.

Battery readings are totally off!

Hi guys, I've got this phone passed down by my mum. It's an old Samsung Note 4 but it's still working fine except the battery readings are totally out.
When I mean totally out, it's like switching off when it hits 30%. Sometimes it keeps going on after it hits 0%. I tried keeping a battery pack on it but it'll just do the same thing.
Just like to know if it helps getting a new battery or is there anything I can do to 'reset' the battery?
Thanks folks!
When a Note 4 shuts off at 30% that usually means that the battery is toast. Get yourself a new Anker battery for $16.99.

Like previous stated, battery is most likely going bad. But I figured I give you an alternative to try first. It won't hurt.
Power off your phone and charge it to 100%
Turn it on.
In play store search for "Nema battery". The first result should be it. It's called "Battery Calibrater" and is by Nema.
Install it. And follow directions.
Most all battery apps are crap. But a few people told me this really does calibrate the phone.
Also take note of what amps capacity it says your battery has.
It maybe worth the try.
Thanks buddy, I'll give it a shot.

That's the voltage. When it's plugged in, it'll be close to 5v. Unplugged it'll be lower.
That app might not have the reading I'm thinking of. No matter, you can try it.
Just for comparative proposes, I just installed it. And yes mine also shows 4300mv max.
But unplugged it's showing 3995mv, I'm at 75%.

I see.
I think a different figure shows up when I charge it turned on or off. If I hit 100% charge, it'll show up with less than that when I try charging it turned off.
I'll try the app once I get to 100%. Is that 100% referring to the phone being turned on or off while charging?

I only suggested charging it off. Cause it's suppose to charge fully better that way I guess. You'll be able to tell when it's fully charged that way. Either way probably won't matter for your case. Cause it's either gonna help or nothing much, then you'll know if you should move on and try new battery.

Yeah, you're right, last ditch effort to see if the battery works.
Another strange behavior is the speed of charging. I use the same charger with the same cable for this test. Funny thing is sometimes the battery takes ages to get to 50% from 0% but on good days, it gets from 0% to 50% in a snap.
Is this behavior of a faulty battery? Or am I dealing with a faulty circuit board? I'm on stock ROM so it's easier to troubleshoot.

When a Note 4 shuts off at 30% that usually means that the battery is toast. Get yourself a new Anker battery for $16.99.
