The Need to Stream !!! - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I would stream Pandora on my 4s and that's it.
Because of the tiny screen, there was no enjoyment trying to watch a movie or show.
But NOW I have this incredible N3, and I feel the need to stream !!!
Are there alternatives to Pandora & Netflix, or are they the best out there?
Please recommend some apps or services that you guys like for streaming.

Wow, no one streams with their N3 .......... weak

Playing movies using HDMI out

guys - i copied some HQ movies to my atrix and they play great on my TV~!!!
is there a way to play the movie and do other stuff on the phone?
btw the phone is amazing
Is there a way to do what on the phone? If you're asking about playing back movies, you can so that with the natiave video app
Rooted/ROM Captivate (For Sale)
Rooted Atrix
playing the movie is fine - i want to do other stuff WHILE the movie is playing on my tv lol
Ooh, if you to to the home screen I'm assuming it closes the video out?
I doubt it; the phone is powerful but I don't know if it would support playing a video while plowing you to do separate processes in the background.

March Madness

I am interested in watching March Madness games on my Evo. They are being streamed to iDevice apps and on the NCAA.com website. I tried just viewing the website video, but it was choppy as all hell after a few seconds, and this was on a 20 Mbps connection over WiFi.
Anyone know of a good hack for watching that stream in a lower quality, or know of any other sites that might stream the games in lower quality for mobile devices? Or know of any other solutions for watching the games on an Evo, preferable over 3G?

None of the games are on ESPN.
CBS, TBS, TNT & Tru
atdhenet.tv
What app are you guys using to track your Brackets? I have brackets done in ESPN and CBS Sports. Wish there was a way to import them directly.

Rockplayer

Anyone else tried rockplayer on this beast?
I only ask as I did, and it failed to play a 720 video of ST:TOS whereas the standard video player played it without a hiccup!
Seems odd as rockplayer used to be my old go to on my blade, that and the standard player can't play the HD mov's I have of trailers.
Mobo player is the way to go and is FREE.
mobo player ftw
rock is nice but mobo is waaay better than anything. and free (for some reason, I would have payed)
mobo player is the best
but if you want to play mkv with soft subs (specially anime )
then use mVideoPlayer
and the two of them are free
I'll try that then! Never heard of it so thank you.
Is it obvious I've been on Android for under 9 months lol. Rock was pitched as the best in another forum when I was trying to squeak as much power out of my old blade as I could.
Thanks guys.
rock player also has restraint, it can't play mov, mts, tod, tivo etc.when i have such videos for galaxy s2 playback, i usually using a video tool to change these videos.
Just stop wasting your own time and download/pay for DicePlayer. It's superior to anything in the market for the SGS/SGS II.

It's not a good app for steaming videos, but it's one of the best for other stuff.
Dice and mobo are definitely the best but people should always try stock first as it has some half decent codec support and will hardware decode where others may not.

Streaming "cloud" server

So one of the walls I'm finding with the fire is the storage. I have a pretty good library of videos ripped to my Drobo...about a good 100 legally owned DVD's and probably a thousand or so MP3's ripped from legally owned CDs. Now we are talking a LOT of space. Is there any kind of relatively easy to setup cloud-type server with security where I can log in through the Fire and watch movies or listen to songs? Maybe access some files?
What do you guys think?
Use PlayOn Software/App
I use the 'MyMedia' option in PlayOn to watch streaming video from my PC on my Kindle Fire
I use an app called Emit that works OK.
Emit works ok I swear the free version skipped less though.
Emit works great for me
The Amazon cloud service holds unlimited music, I use that for my 100GB+ collection of music. You get a couple gigs free for other stuff, but I haven't loaded anything else to mine so I don't know if its any good for movies.
Damn you Swype!

Google Music would be a good solution for you music needs, you can store up to 20,000 songs.
You could encode to Stream-able MP4 and upload to SugarSync/Dropbox. Or Use a app like Plex to encode/transcode on the fly.

Plex

I have this at home on my Roku, and the Android app is so good you need to check it out.
It does cost $4.99, but its so worth it if you have a large selection of movies on your home computer.
I'm using it on my Mac and not only does it give me unreal streaming of the movies, but music and iPhoto as well.
Super great app for the 7.7
