Let's see some things you like and dislike about the froyo beta.
Off the top of my head...
I like how when you make a phone call and pres home, if you drag down the noti-bar, there's buttons for flash, speaker, mute and end call. I found that as a nice little extra.
I like the new 3g icon
I like the look of the UI better overall
Better App icons
The settings menu is full of a LOT more eye candy
The added lockscreen security options
The newbuilt in task manager
The fact you can finally put vibrate on through the noti-bar
The better "hold power for a couple seconds" menu
And last, but not least, Flash 10.1
I don't like how you can't auto organize apps
The phone is notably sluggier, BUT Its still friggin fast. I blame this mostly on the fact I don't have setcpu to OC to 1.2ghz again and I don't think the kernal can anyways
Websites still take me to mobile! Its annoying! My hero had an option for "allow mobile view" which I always had off and it always sent me to the desktop page. I was hoping for this option in FroYo, but its not in the beta. Hopefully its included in DK05 or whatever, but I doubt it.
Also, the browser "checkers" but its not a big deal. It still renders **** wayyyy faster than my hero
Let's hear some of your pros and cons about the froyo beta.
Keep in mind that I understand its a beta and don't take my negatives to heart and get all defensive.
Just saw alittle bug in setcpu and linpack. When you rotate the phone, it cancels out anything you did in the last orientation. This is annoying because the 270 degree rotation is on by default and idk how to take it off. I was laying down and the way I hold the phone to read it makes it autorotate

+1 on all your pros.
The biggest con for me is no widget for the music player. I use it all of the time.

Enjoying it myself. After getting gps working its actually a great rom. I get the occasional fc but its no biggie. I use poweramp and it has its own homescreen widget. All in all for a beta build its actually pretty good.

I don't think the battery life is as good but that should be fixed once we have the kernel code for froyo. I was so used to the overclock/undervolt kernels and the battery was amazing.

I am getting 12 hrs out of my battery on froyo. Decent enough to get through the day.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
All of the froyo roms seem sluggish to me. I see it mostly on the lock screen. It takes the phone a few seconds to wake up before I can unlock the screen. But I agree on all the OP's pros. I just can't deal with the sluggishness so back to Syndicate ROM until we get a overclocked kernel
I have never had an issue with lockscreen lag that everyone talks about

So I received my Nexus 4 today, I'm upgrading from my Galaxy S3 which I was running CM10.1 on.
I've been looking through the settings on the Nexus 4 and I've noticed that there are a few options that I'm used to seeing in CM that aren't in the stock version.
A couple of things I'm missing:
- the power toggles in the drop down (I specifically like the torch accessibility)
- I think there are less LED options?
- simple things like the battery not showing as a percentage
- with CM10.1 I get 5 options for lock screen shortcuts
Does CyanogenMod run as well on the Nexus 4 as the stock firmware does? I never really tried TouchWiz on my S3, but CM had a few bugs where thing would randomly crash, occasional network issues, and the need for daily restarts.
I could probably get a lot of these things from apps, but if CM runs just as well as the stock does then I guess I could root and install CM.
Also I enabled LTE on my Nexus 4. Does this cause any problems?
I honestly don't know about CM, personally have never liked it, so never bothered with it on this device, but for apps that'll do those things, I've two you might could try.

Light Flow Lite is amazing for LED control.
You might be able to get this to work on 4.2.2, I haven't looked too much into it though http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2037171

I have light flow and its working fairly well.
Is there a version of power toggles with a torch option?
I don't think so, it seems to be fairly in demand though, so hopefully we'll get it soon.

Hi VZ Moto X folks,
How are you liking Kitkat on the phone? I installed the update on my VZ Moto X this noon and do like the update overall, but I have a few gripes as well.
Likes:
Transparent status bar, white looks good and different as well IMO
New camera allows to adjust focus, exposure (technically this not related to Kitkat I think)
Wallet is working again on VZ with NFC
Lockscreen music album art is very nice! Also works with apps like Pandora and Tunein Radio
New dialer, but no business search
Gripes:
Lost root from 4.2, chances to get it back on 4.4 seem slim. Really hate ads
Some issues with Chrome on 4.4 (lag etc), hopefully will be fixed by an update to Chrome. Chrome never lagged on the Moto X for me on 4.2.
4.4 broke support for battery apps like BetterBatteryStats and Wakelock detector.
Overall, I am really impressed with Motorola and Verizon for giving us this update so soon. But the Moto X was such an awesome phone to start with that I am not totally overawed by the update, I think. What do you guys think about the update?
I'm pretty upset about a really small thing: When I unlock from Active Notifications, there's a tiny delay in which the regular lockscreen appears, and then it unlocks to home/whatever app I had open. That wasn't there before, was it?

I'm happy with the speed of release, but I'm a little disappointed with the crippling of some features. The lack of local search in the dialer and Google Caller ID is very disappointing.
Oh, and this feels like nitpicking. But holy crap:
If you haven't tried yet, switch to ART runtime in the developer options. It speeds up the phone a lot.

How did you get Wallet to work? I don't see it in the TapToPay menu, there's only a demo/help link.
Thanks

Yes, that to me is a actually one of the most important updates because you feel it every time you unlock or every press (if enabled). Much smoother now.
I really don't like the new dialer app. The white/gray looks plain ugly and I don't get what's the obsession with light themes.
Otherwise, I like it all

Yes! The icons are terrible in the status bar. They also used the old Gps icon instead of the new location one.
I like having the option of using art. And will try it for today. But might have to get rid of it until more apps are compatible. Its not horrible but my banking app and PANDORA don't work. The lag is also TERRIBLE when unlocking from active notifications. And disabling slide unlock screen is NOT a fix because the lock screen is how I change my music when listening. Motorola should NOT have skipped the soak test.

Wait... Motorola shouldn't have skipped the soak test because you want to enable an unsupported beta feature that's only accessible by enabling a development settings menu?

i think he's talking about the tiny delay between swiping from an active notification and resuming to the home screen. i've also noticed the delay and was hesitant to post about it.

Occasionally I'll get a really slow unlock where the whole screen goes black for about 2 seconds, but overall I'm getting zero lag unlocking from active display. Don't know why some are lagging

Hey guys. I've been out of the country for 5 months. I read there were some issues with the update. What's the consensus at the moment regarding the best version to be on?

4.4.2 has been great for me. However if you use Google play music then I would hold off as there is a playback error issue every few songs. Google reckons a fix is incoming though
Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
I'd install it, I use Play Music and or does throw the error occasionally, but it's not that bad for me

Knock on works alot better in kitat and there is also knock code in latest update
Deff worth the update !
So far with the latest open eur rom ( 20d ) i've noticed changes :
Faster auto-focus (but still no 4k recording on stock app)
Audio kitkat bug is fixed (there was hissing on the left channel, now it's just like on jb )
KnockOn works everytime and is a lot faster in actually waking the screen (the delay between tapping on the screen and screen waking up is really small now) and with the latest kk update, you get KnockCode which is awesome !
Ui feels a lot smoother
Now, if you root and install xposed + app settings, you can enable immersive mod in every app ( immersive mod hides the notification bar and navbar, so you can fully enjoy your 5.2" screen)
And if you use emoji, the messaging app now doesn't change your sms into mms ( if you put an emoji on jellybean, the sms will be sent as an mms... atleast i had that on D802 )
I haven't found any other bugs
For sure you need to be on 4.4.2. Much better all around performance and battery life :good:
Sweet, thanks guys! How much of a battery improvement are we talking here and what roms are you on?

So yesterday the Good Lock app randomly auto pushed to my phone from the Galaxy app store.
Has anyone else had this happen?
It also replaced the system ui. I was able to open the app and uninstall it, but I get a notification about twice a day saying I have an app to update. Every time the notification is for Good Lock.
Is Samsung forcing it on its users now?
Also is anyone using it ? Does it still negatively effect the battery? Does it remove the theme sort from the phone as well?
Thanks!
Happened to me too. I also uninstalled it, couldn't achieve a look that I like. You can disable the notification from the Galaxy Apps settings menu

I like it, it's cool imo. The multitask screen looks better.
Hmmm...
At first, I was angry it auto updated/Installed. It.changed everything I was used to. I HATED it!
Then I played around with it a bit, and I can now see some useful features in it. Mostly the lockscreen widgets and the Routines. I'm not a fan of the notification shortcuts though.
Im going to give it a few days to sink in. If I don't miss the old layouts, then I'll keep it.
Just REALLY wish theyd update the autocorrect though. I had to retype many words in this message!

Still seems strange to just push it on users have not heard them doing that on any other devices so far. Makes me wonder if it will be the stock setup on Android 7.1 for Samsung.

I think I saw on Sammobile that the Nougat ROM being tested for the S7 has it. I'll see if I can find it.
EDIT:
http://www.sammobile.com/2016/09/22...y-s7-to-bring-grace-ux-and-improved-features/
I've used good lock mostly on my s6 and a bit while I used the s7edge as a loaner. I actually think I prefer the grace ux on the note to good lock these days but good lock has a lot of features and is always adding user requested features.

I just checked out the reviews for good lock this isnt an isolated incident. People are really mad, complain their phone now has "girly colors" and threatening to go back to iOS if they don't add the ability to change colors (which you've always been able to do)
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N930A using Tapatalk
Yeah I tried good lock and it was okay but I couldn't stand the hideous colors in notifications, and it just seemed way too busy. I only used it because I missed KitKat style lock screen music album art, but I found out Samsung music still has an acceptable form of it and I'm satisfied with it.

It's not easily noticeable though. There isnt a very noticeable "colors" section.
I think that's confusing people.

Took me awhile to figure out how to change colors, buried in the routines menu. And because I use a them already, was even more fun trying to get them to match. I did try it for a few days, but went back to the regular lock screens. Also didn't seem to work real well with AoD.

been using on my 2 phones for months; i prefer the stock Android UI look as well as the ability to "keep" some of my notifications so i can follow up later. the latest version allows you to further customize the colors (not just dragging the polygons from left to right or vice-versa). takes (me a) little effort to get it like i want it, but i can then backup and restore when necessary. --- i'm a keep it simple/basic user so the less stuff, the better (for me).
also, @nuclearrage, what issues were you having with AoD? GoodLock and AoD are working fine on my devices.
