I can connect to my wifi router fine but the icon is gray instead of blue and i believe this means limited connection. Not really sure what to do next. All my other devices connect to the wifi with no problem at all so it shouldn't be the problem with the router.
It means your not connected to Google

Hi I am trying to get rid of any internet connection on my nexus 4. Is there a way that I can edit the kernel so that wifi would not work?(also if I can disable data that'll be awesome)

Turn off wifi and mobile data from settings will not do it for you?

you can delete(copy first please) any number of wifi related files with a root file explorer out of /sys/ or /system/(and reboot) which would essentially incapacitate wifi. then either reflash your rom/kernel/ or put the files back.
Their has been some pretty fishy posts lately....

Just use airplane mode, no???????
Edit; oh, thought he meant all data
Then you can't get calls or sms

You could just not turn on WiFi.

You can get WiFi to stop working, You will have to modify the kernel.
Delete the following folder in the last directory:
/sys/bus/platform/WLAN_CTRL
/sys/bus/platform/wcnss_wlan
/sys/kernel/ipv4
I am not sure why you want to do this even if there are other safe ways to stop this interface.
What you are doing is really dangerous and can cause a soft brick causing you to reflash everything using the Google Developers Nexus flashing tool.

Hello to all Xda Members
Recently i discovered a problem with my Nexus 4 connections: it doesn't connects to Google Servers a.k.a.: Gray Status Symbols
My Nexus 4 can't reach any of the play services (no downloads from Google Play), not with WiFi or Mobile Internet. I tried different ROMs (PA 3.69, SlimROM), stock ROM (4.2.2, 4.3) but anything works, maybe it's something with the Router?
Thanks and Regards

Try using another router (your neighbour's). See if it works.
If its really the routers Problem, what could it be? Someone has got an idea?

Need more info. What update you're running off of, rooted?
I'm running MJE, with root. Still new to this concept, not sure what else I need to know.

Okay, I found the tetheringhack.zip from another thread and flashed it via Safestrap. Now I can turn it on, and both my tablet and my laptop see the network, but neither of them can connect. Password is correct, my moto xyboard cycles between "connecting" and "authenticating" while my win7 laptop says "connecting to network is taking longer than expected" then it prompts me for the password. Any idea what could cause this?
