Hi all, I happen to come up with a Note 2 with such "features" (pictures attached)
- In About device: it is a SGH-I317
- In Status, its IMEI is xxxxx. A Google search tells it is an I317M
- Behind the battery, its IMEI is: xxxxx. A Google search says it is a GT-N7100
- It seems like these two IMEI are not blacklisted (based on: swappa . com / esn)
- It is currently on AT&T and have 4G LTE (even though I think it's not actually LTE, see the speed test pic).
- It occasionally drops signal (No network - Big O in status bar) and gets back, where other phones (on AT&T) are still fine.
- The battery cover has AT&T logo.
So my questions are:
- It is actually a N7100, and the correct IMEI is the one behind the battery. Am I right?
- A N7100 does not support LTE, that's why even though it shows connection to 4G LTE, the LTE speed is not very fast?
- Not sure why it occasionally drops signal? Wrong ROM? Currently running stock AT&T ROM with AT&T modem. What is the solution for not dropping signal?
- What type of ROM fits best with it (N7100 ROM, I317 ROM)?
It's the US AT&T LTE variant of the phone, it's also the same model sold by Bell in Canada for LTE.

I thought the model in "About Device" can be changed based on the ROM flashed? In the main board (after removing battery) it says MODEL: GT-N7100. Am I dealing with a phone in which the main board was replaced? And the fact about the 2 IMEIs ... Eventually, which IMEI is the correct one? The one on main board or the one in Status?
I have checked the EFS folder, it's not empty but it does not contain nv_data, so I'm not sure how to find IMEI from there.
Thanks
You ahould not post your IMEI. Someone might clone it and make your phone unusable.

Hi guys, I searched for this answer in the official thread but couldn't find anything, and account is too n00b to post there. I've loaded up CM 10.1 RC1 on my GT-I9505 (S4 intl.), everything seems perfect, except for 1 important detail. If I want to use my network data, I must turn off LTE. Kills battery and slows me down... I think... I do see H+ above my signal bars. When I have the TouchWiz loaded, I do have LTE above the bars and I know my carrier supports it. Any ideas? I would normally chalk it up to beta (as previous nightly builds required the same setting change), but thought Release Clients were trying to be bug free.
Details that may help:
Purchased in Hong Kong, dealer said it was imported from South Korea (as in, meant-to-be-sold-there, not HK)
Phone carrier is SmartTone
Baseband version I9505ZHUBMF4
CM version: 10.1.3-RC1-jfltexx
hello,
i have a very annoying problem
i just bought my note3 2 days ago and i found out that it has a very bad signal reception in my home although the signal has two and sometimes 3 bars in it!! but it says "emergency calls only"!
the thing that worries me is that, i had note1 and the signal reception was way better, i also tried many mobiles and they all good!!
so i wanted to knew if there is anything i can do to solve this problem?
i'm on lollipop 5.0
also from egypt.
many thanks in advance
Return to the store and ask for a replacement .
Have you tested the signal in other places ??
the device is an international version with no guarantee so i can't replace it.
Check your APN's [Settings] [Mobile Networks] [Access Point Names] and make sure the correct one is selected. You might need to contact your provider. Also check [Preferred Network] is not just set to (say) 3G and your provider doesn't provide that one.
Does Wifi work OK? You may need to update your firmware - I'm presuming you are still on the OS the phone came with. It's possible the phone was built for somewhere else and the Modem is not right for Egypt. (unlikely but possible)
There's an app on Play Store called Phone INFO (samsung) that will give lots of details about just what your phone is.
I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 with bricked LCD.
After replacing LCD, all is working perfectly, except operator network.
If I am outside, the strange is on 5 bars, inside 2 bars hardly. Networks are mostly available.
But if I try to connect, then "Registering on Network" appears, but not connect, only that the network is not avilable. And indicator of bars is falling down immediately.
I tried change SIM cards with different operators, made hard reset etc., nothing helped.
IMEI is OK, it seems to be valid..
Any help??
Thx.
EDIT:
I'm unknowing of Android already, I have iPhones more than 5 years. My last Android was Donut.

Install this APP and add screenshots.
* The product code being inactive and causing no network is somewhat related to EFS being corrupted even if the IMEI is still intact. Restore a EFS backup if you have it or get your device to repair.
Thank you very much. I made screenshots and sent it in attachment.

The problem should be related with the firmware installed. Download, unzip and flash via ODIN the latest firmware to your device: HERE.
I will try it. After replacing LCD I made upgrade for Lollipop nad all was OK.
EDIT:
All made - but not in the least changing. No signal still.
EDIT 2:
No solving of this problem?
With Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro (KATE), LTE 4G Carrier Aggregation cant working via interband, only intraband available. In Hungary (and many other countries), need CA_3A_7A and CA_3A_20A for proper LTE-A as advertised. (Cat6 4G+) At the moment, only CA_3A_3A, CA_7A_7A and CA_20A_20A available. (for 5/10/20+5/10/20MHz)
I opened a bug report in MIUI forums, please press CONFIRM button to MIUI Developer Team pay more attention to this bug.
With Mi5, a russian guy able to modify NVRAM to use interband CA, at the moment i cant able to do this with my Redmi Note3 pro... Link - use google translate or check here.
Which app you are using to watch those information?
Network Signal Guru
I found NVRAM settings, it seems empty. Still waiting for russian guy to reply.
Confirmed.
Anyone has some hi-res picture from RN3PSE mainboard, without RF shields, or some schematics? Maybe there is some hardware limitation, and LTE category/speed is a false advertised by Xiaomi...
????same problem in iran.cant use 4G+ with redmi note 3 pro.xiaomi support team should solve this problem.
We have this problem in Iran
All Xiaomi phones do not support carrier aggregation b3+b7
i think send feedback to xiaomi support team .perhaps solve this problem in next update.
in iran carrier is b3+b7 too.but this damn phone not support.
how much speed your carrier in your country without 4G+??
in iran without 4G+ 3mB/s download speed.
????
Same problem in France
Envoyé de mon Redmi Note 3 en utilisant Tapatalk
Same with Orange France, no carrier aggregation between bands
????
please solve not support b3+b7 in redmi note 3 pro in iran
???
Under discussion in MIUI forums, please need more confirm from owners!
http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=557855
I think I have just enabled it by modding NVRAM thanks to the tip pointed out by @wwenigma in the screenshot by replacing it with the values I got for google.
Anyway please do help to verify, is this legit 4G+? All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
This is very interesting.

No. Only 1 carrier. Tested 1,5 month ago. Two things are possible. First, something missing in MODEM and need developers to fix it. Second is worst, hardware problem. Someone need to open the phone case and manually check the RF Switch in the PCB, what they used...very likely they used a cheap 1way switch and not possible to route all needed antenna signal to signal processor (no an2 port). Thats why i try to find hi-res pics from PCB or cad file, wiring diagram, etc. In this case, need hardware modification for LTE-A (bypass RF switch or connect antenna wires before switch.
I made a sheet about NV bits.
For more research i need a notebook to check more information on field with QXDM, OR i need something to process NSG (Network Signal Guru) logs (cant working with my QCAT.. .:/ )
Anyway, please press CONFIRM button in MIUI forum...

Already done that ever since I saw this thread. Really hope Xiaomi can fix this somehow.
In Italy my Kate does quite well: with H+ 26,46Mbps Down / 4,84Mbps Up and 75ms latency

We want 4G+ (or LTE-A/LTE+), H+ (HSPA+) is slower than 4G/LTE (without the +).

Sorry I misunderstod the topic, the max is 4G here: few minutes ago 32.66 Down / 13.53 Up, 22 latency
Hi! I have the US 4GB 64GB version of Moto G5 Plus which is not avaiable here in Brazil.
Gonna try to be clear... but sorry for my bad english...
The fact is that I was on debloated Nougat (bootloader unlocked and rooted) and was experiencing very poor signal in several situations... the most notable was when I was on the subway and since this phone is veeeeery popular here I could see a lot of people using this phone, browsing, facebook, instagram etc. but, even though the network signal in status bar was full or almost full for me, it was like I had no data at all..
I then upgraded to Oreo Soak Test #3 yesterday and today I noticed that now in the subway, I have no data at all, there is no 4g/3g symbol next to the signal symbol...
So the question... what affects the phone signal? What can I do to solve this issue?
Oh, my carrier is maybe the best in my region when it comes to coverage
Thanks in advance!
EFS affects Signal, and IMEI
Hello,
You know English well (comparing to my bad English).
Loss of Network (Data), and IMEI is caused by deleted EFS.
EFS is deleted in the process of Installion of some custom roms (including stock rom).
Rostoring EFS on Oreo soak test won't work for several reasons (for me it only worked on Nougat).
Restore Process:
Must Have:
1. Andorid 7.0 Stock Rom (Fastboot) (Twrp flashable won't work)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5...irmware-npn25-137-67-5-fastboot-t3694738/amp/
2. EFS Backup (must be backup from when you had signal)
3. Optional Magisk or SuperSU
https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-magisk/
Step 1: Flash Stock Rom
Step 2: Flash Magisk (optional, but recommend)
Step 3: Restore EFS
Finally Enjoy!

but nonono
I'm not talking about that but bad signal strenght... I can use my phone, but in certain places, like the subway, the internet is so slow that it is unusable... but, as I said, I can see a lot of people even playing Clahs Royale with no problem
I think this phone is generally weak in this category. My wife has a Samsung S6 active and we both use Tmobile. In similar locations hers gives much better reception.

The problem isn't the phone it's the rom your using. Example For me: with VOLTE (Verizon) From my house
Pixel Experience gives 40MB Down and 33MB UP
Stock Rom gives 20-30MB Down and 20 UP

Your results aren't accurate.
Get two of the same phone ex. iPhone 8
One will always have better Network speeds then the other, even if their new.

Avoid thick covers and cases for mobile, if your cover has metal on it then there is a good chance it is interfering with signals. Usually, having poor signals is more of a hardware issue than a software one.
Off topic - I read somewhere that some criminals keep their communication devices inside closed packed Lead Boxes. Those block nearly all type of signals, be it related to Wifi, Bluetooth, Cellular or GPS.

But that nothing to do with no signal inside subway.
Edit: Metal won't have a major affect on the signal, depending on the phone to metal ratio. Similar to magnets.
Not to be rude but "was using debloated stock then changed to Oreo stock" Has everyone knows signal is bad on roms other then the original (which no one has)..
I forgot to ask you what signal do you get?
LTE, 4g, H+, H, 3g, 2g?
