If I'm outside it can be easily pretty soft around downtown Chicago.
I've seen a few apps on the market.. Any have any experience with any that work?.
All volume seems low to me.

tape around rim
just a quick note, i made a few calls when i first got my note. sound sucked until on closer inspection i found there was protective clear shipping tape around the entire rim on the metal band. two pieces where covering the mics. really didn't notice the tape until i looked very close at the phone. just a quick note because i know if it happened to me it happened to someone else also.
Hahahaha! I had a phone call today and the quality was awful. It was like she was speaking through a snorkel and she asked me what I was using. I've just read this post and found that mine has the tape on it as well! I've taken it off so it'll be interesting to see, or hear, if it's any better. Now I just need to find someone to call.

There's also some clear plastic over the lense. Not sure whether to take it off as well. Okay, I did and put it back because there's actually a hole in the middle of it so it doesn't cover the actual lense.
So after removing the protective plastic, is it alrite ????

i removed the plastic and after setting up my voice-mail i could barely hear my own message, regardless of how slowly and clearly i spoke. it's not that the volume was low, if was just quite muffled and unclear.

I hope it's not, and some software can help fix this. it's pretty bad.
My note is very clear. It's much better than my s2. With s2, sometime the other party can't hear me clearly.
I guess I've been lucky but my black One is amazing. I have no problems. Excellent build quality and a real head turner. Its the best phone I've owned even besting my iPhone 5.

I have to say, I've been delightfully impressed by HTC this time around. Not only did they make a great piece of hardware, they also didn't make it too much of a pain to customize it software size it. Between HTC Dev and not having to manually flash a boot.img through fastboot, I'm definitely pleased with my phone. The ONLY let down I have is a couple of dead pixels on my rear camera. Then again, I'm not one to take many pictures!

Here's a picture of a white bed sheet. Notice the small black dot. That is the cluster if dead pixels. It isn't too noticeable, but it drives my OCD crazy. The ONLY reason I don't return it for a replacement is that I'll most likely end up with an even more faulty device than the one I currently have.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it. I've had mine since launch (in the States) and I'm absolutely in love with it. In fact, this week I'm finally pulling the trigger on selling my iPhone 5 64GB - I'm now 100% sure I won't be going back (but lets not make this an Apple bashing thread lol)!
I'll also add, I've always had black phones (see my signature) and I'm incredibly pleased I did something different this time around and went with Silver/White. Such a beautiful device.

This is really strange. I've also never heard of this. Some DSLR's can have "stuck" pixels in their sensor. Most Canon's have what they call a "Manual Sensor Cleaning" in their menu options to help alleviate that issue.
I would imagine it's simply a defect in the sensor itself - thus not being able to capture that group of pixels. In all honesty, I would send it back. But that's just me, I wouldn't be able to live with that.
My device battery went faulty right in the middle of my vacation, but I don't think I will change to SG4 for any reason. This phone rocks.

I'm not saying it's not a real one if it was manufactured in China, I'm just wondering if the quality assurance is not as good there, and that is where more of the faulty devices are coming from

Why? Why take the chance of returning it and receiving a device in worst conditions just because of a nano spec on the lens or screen? You can't even see it unless you search for it. That would be ridiculous. He's device is in great conditions besides that one spec that you cant even see.

I see your point of view and I understand. However, I guess some of us just don't want to settle for something that does have a flaw... even if it is that small.
Granted, I will admit some of these guys around here get a little carried away... like the guy that returned his device 8 times. I would have given up after 3 personally.
I paid $650 for my One. And replaced iPhone 5. For that kind of money I'd expect everything to work and be pristine. That's from my point of view.
My note has a loose speaker grill on the right. I was wondering if anyone else has this issue or others.
The only questionable thing I have, which may be normal, is the infrared port. It protrudes about a millimeter or so from the top edge. Is this normal?

It shouldn't, but this is Samsung we're talking about. A number of users already confirmed that they're having the same issue on multiple threads. I'm guessing this is happening because of the S Pen slot. It shouldn't be doing that, but we're used to Samsung doing this.
Yes. Fixed it right up with some silicone sealant.

The Bad news is I am not the only one that has a tablet with this issue. The Good news is there are PERKS to be gained if you have you to exchange. If you know what I mean
Samsung, like any manufacturer has issues, I think you will find the QC at Samsung is among the best. I wonder too, is the first thing some people do when getting something is look for defects? I mean, yeah, if they pop up while using it, then you go from there, but I like to actually use and enjoy my device first
As for the issue, my right speaker grille does have a VERY TINY bit of play if you tap it, it's not noticeable in normal use and will NOT affect anything important. A user fixed it easily, so if it is bothersome, you can always do what he did.

I dont have patience for QC issues, if I spend my hard earned money I want it close to perfect or its going back. There is no way I would ever fix their mistakes.

You will never find perfection, not in anything made my the hands of man anyway. There is not one company out there that puts out 100% perfect products, not one.
It's the price of being an early adopter Computer manufacturers make all kinds of revisions, heck the early LCDs had ghosting. These days though almost everything feels like beta.

Hi my speaker on the left is also not working. To be honest i dont think it has ever worked but I only discovered this last week.
I guess its a manufacture fault, shame I didn't realise at the time of purchase. Unless someone can spread light on this then I am stuck

This is the first I've heard of that happening, and I've had mine since launch. It's probably just another result of inferior build quality... probably a loose/snapped wire or something. A technician could probably fix it in a jiffy for not too much money (I know a store in Tulsa that would do a fix like this for maybe $35, just as an example).
Mine stopped working before few months and i realised it today
If its hardware issue we don't have an option but to send it for service's do a hardware tests

I realised that it was blown speaker so I replaced with another speaker from my old Android phone.
Just to make you all aware.
On my first 6p bottom speaker was noticeably more quiet. I thought its they way it has to be. Only when I got replacement I realised it must have been faulty. Now both speakers sound evenly and it is louder then previous one.

The speakers too? OMG is there anything not being defective with this new phone? I keep reading people having issues with the display, speakers, body damage, there was even a report of a device shutting down on it's own and unable to boot completely...Is it the same with every Nexus launch? I can't remember reading about that many issues with the Nexus 6

This is my 4th Nexus device. My Nexus 7 (2012) was perfect as far as I could tell but others experienced issues with theirs. My Nexus 7s (2013) all had phantom touch and random rebooting issues. I went through 5 RMAs before I cut my losses and sold the new one they sent me. My Nexus 5 was mostly fine a little bit of button rattling but other than that no issues and still going strong. Now onto my 6P with speaker issues. It's frustrating to go through this but I really love these devices and Google has great customer service. I just expect when I pay $500 for something that it will function properly.

Same issue here. Noticed something was off right away. First time I've had to RMA a Nexus device.
Thanks for the heads up!
I tested my speakers and MAN I AM HAPPY!
I'm coming from the OG G2 and its the best phone on the planet (besides its 1 backside speaker)
So its like I went from last to first. I love how loud the 6p is.
One of first things I did when I got mines. The top speaker on mines sounded louder. So then I tried flipping the phone around and the now top speaker (which is the bottom speaker) sounded louder. So now I think mine are fine lol.
EDIT: I then tried covering each speaker with my finger and the top sounds louder. Honestly it does not sound any way to me though so dont think I will be RMA mine.
What I did notice, at full volume both seem to be the same....however at 50% or less the top seems a little louder.
the sad thing is I just got a bluetooth speaker in and its great and loud. My old phone had such a small speaker(lg g2). The 6p is as loud as my new bluetooth speaker so its not needed as much.

Funny thing is I did the same thing. Flipped the phone around and the top was a little louder. I wonder if it could just be a software issue? Either way everything else (especially the screen) is good on my device. I can't be bothered to RMA for something that probably will be fixed with software. If it is hardware on my device it's nearly unnoticeable.
I called google today about this and they said it was intentional and that replacing the device will not change it.
Apparently a lot of people are calling about it.

Don't do it, i returned my first for a tiny defect in the corner of the plastic holding the screen in and got one with a worse defect right next to rhe power button.. Waiting for my third, should have stuck with the first!
Its barely noticeable but my top one is every so slightly crisper and louder. But its one those things where id never have noticed had I not seen this post so I see no reason to RMA.
