Fairly simple.
Extract the file.
Open Odin which I used 3.07
Power down phone
Press home vol down and power together till you see a screen that ask if you want to enter press vol up
Connect the USB cable if you haven't already and make sure it com in blue
In Odin don't change anything and click on PDA
Search for the extracted file
Wait a few and then click start. Wait till you see pass
Sorry writing from my phone but its easier than making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
Also make sure you are coming from stock if not you will need to erase all in revovery then go to download mode

Flashed the German (DBT) 4.3 FW with Mobile Odin this morning instead of the Nordic Countries (NEE) 4.1.2 FW.
After the update, I was disappointed to see my Wifi stopped working. It just wouldn't turn ON. So I ended up wasting the whole day wiping and reflashing 4.1.2
Did anyone else had or heard of this problem?

Forget about KIES.
Go to http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9300 (link is for the International version), choose ANY ROM you want, or the ROM for your country/operator, and flash it using Odin3.
KIES is evil and I don't know why people insist on using that P.O.S.
But will i have any problems in future if i want to upgrade if i flash it using odin?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I updated yesterday using Kies. Make sure your battery is well charged (70% or more) and let it run. It looked like mine had stopped after downloading the components. After 20 minutes of looking like nothing was happening, the firmware proper started to download.
With all the downloads then flash, it probably took just under 2 hours (not the 5-30 minutes that Kies claims).
Most likely the download servers are just busy.

yes you have to get bootloader and when uk comes out you might have to flash again with odin

heres the update if you want to do it
but you cant go back to 4.3 and ive read 4.4.2 is a bit buggy
Maybe that's why they haven't rolled it out in other countries yet, I will probably just wait then because I use my note 3 as my daily driver so I'd rather it was 100%

I think it is not a 100% safe thing to try to update a carrier-locked Note3 - given that you also do not have a lot of experience I would suggest waiting a little more (and in the meantime reading in the many threads around and searching for somobody else with a carrier-locked Note 3 from the same 3 UK carrier).
You can get a free unlock code from three, got mine installed polish kit kat no problems.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Just to mention that some 3rd party apps still require updates from developers to work on 4.4 so if you don't mind waiting a month or two this should also give them time too.
So if I get it unlocked, then its OK to flash the official update?
Basically I just want yo know the effect of flashing an official ROM on a carrier locked fone.
Yeah I've been reading the threads so I know how to flash it using Odin.just wanted to know will it be OK or will my fone go KU-KU
Sorry if I'm eating your brains
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You can flash even if it's network locked. It will stay network locked... But won't be a problem. You can also get your phone unlocked free from three.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
You will loose root unless you use mobile odin with the keep root feature, and boot into download, then flash the bootloader. I don't think there's a de la vega style root on 4.4.

For me all works. For the S-View Cover if you got problems theres a XPOSED MODULE that fixes.
If you want to flash to kitkat flash to the latest one - https://mega.co.nz/#!9ExjAR5a!JlqiFGnMqN1iYQylM7-3bhvupKtkZ9fnLLwLwTC8rD0 (thanks @ValenteL )

Best is poland, from what I have read and some ppl said.
But I couldn't find latest poland nb4 as what most ppl said.
So I flashed the nb7 germany but it requires pit file to be flashed together.
Or perhaps u could try nb7 uk.
My sview cover is working just fine with nb7 germany. No issue. And fyi, I m not using any original scover ciz too ex for me.
Sd card problem I found so far only on dolphin apps, where by it detects as "external sd" only, instead of "storage/external sd". Therefore if u want to download something, it will still be only able to save to internal sd.
Btw, battery much more better than 4.3.
I m quite satisfy with it, based on my same usage.
And it really did stay very well in deep sleep.
I discharged, and nver use it for 4 hours, it dropped to 98% only. Something I never see before.
Sent from N9005 4.4.2 NB7 rooted device
NB7 Germany contains the fix for the 3rd party accessories. (It is the second 4.4.2 update for DBT).
Keep in mind that 4.3 has a very, very annoying issue with Android leeching battery. I never had issues before updating to 4.4.2. Factory reset helped a bit, but not much. Ever so often Media Server prevents deep sleep.
The SD Card doesn't have problems, the lazy app developers have a problem. Google updated security policies (remember how people are always whining about security? This is the result. Blame them.) and now the devs have to alter one tiny permission in their apps and it works. But a lot of them can't be bothered.
If you are happy on 4.3, don't update.
I think to stay on 4.3 and wait for another update
Mybe 4.4.3 ?

You either update to 4.4.2, or don't update.
4.4.3 would be too long away. Once Google releases 4.4.3, it would take months for Samsung to update, if they feel like it.

Hey guys.
Had some great advice in some of my other questions and I thank everyone who posted. Everything always helps.
Just before I do this, as I've been informed that you can't go back to 4.3 after updating bootloader to 4.4.2.
Which would be the latest 4.4.2 firmware I should flash for N9005 in Australia? I then want to flash custom roms like Xnote etc. Knox will be triggered after I flash a custom recovery am I right?

You can flash other (earlier) 4.4.2 roms but you can`t downgrade to a 4.3 rom afaik
Oh cool. That's fine then. All these have open MSCs right? So I could technically use it stock? There will be an English option? I mean if it's all on there I don't know why Samsung doesn't release it at a faster rate, ir more at once... If indeed it works fine. I'll probably change straight away to a custom rom but still, it'd be nice to see what vanilla kit kit is like.

The easiest thing to do would be to list your current firmware. Then we can tell you if its the latest or if you are a behind. I think NB8 is the latest stock BTU UK firmware.

I already have the latest version just that when you click on device and update it tells you maximum number of updates rolled out but like other people say there must be a problem with Samsung server.

I just seen NB9 released too, what a load of rubbish. Other countries are rolling out much newer firmware and we get a minor patch made back in February,,,
The latest German firmware NF1 had a June date.
Good old uk always second to last.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Free mobile app
If it makes you feel any better I've tried loads of stock and custom firmware on my UK btu handset and have always come back to fnb8 UK stock as it's the most stable to date. So the fact that other counties have "more up to date" firmware versions is really not important because they bring no extra features and just add problems. E.g. nge5 and ngf1 (the latest firmwares) have random reboots meaning that I can't even walk down the street listening to music because halfway through a song it will cut out and reboot.
If it ain't broke don't fix it. I'd say stick with fnb8 until they release a firmware with new features (maybe when Android L is released).
Hi guy's, does the 16mbt patch fix anything??? Otherwise I agree that fnb8 is pretty good for me, any feedback? Thanks
