CWM is not supported for OpenDelta OTAs, as official CWM explicitly disallows advanced automation unless the updating is done by ROM Manager.
Thx i will change.

Can you please help me answer how to install OTA updated with CWM installed. I get this error saying the installation aborted .. it boots into CWM
is there any step by step method to get the new update on nexus 4
Thanks
you need stock rom, no modifications made, and stock kernel for it to work
Download and extract the original 4.2 and fastboot flash system system.img and it'll restore all missing apps.. I had to do it earlier to allow the system to install the update

update manually.
So I got my update but it keeps failing during install. I'm rooted and every time the update starts it kicks over to CWM recovery and stops with a message something like, "do you want to install this untrusted zip file" I say yes but it still fails. I have even tried to manually install the update through CWM but that fails too. My N7 is rooted but otherwise stock, I have not removed any stock apps or flashed roms or kernels so WTF must I do???
Did you not read the posts above yours? CWM recovery is not stock.

I don't know where, but I saw a few posts about working updates to 4.2.1 with CWM recovery.
However, I'm not getting it to work.
How do I get rid of the recovery without loosing the root?
If you are on Windows I find the Nexus 4 Toolkit to be super easy to use. I flashed a stock recovery so I could get the update. Unfortunately, I forgot I had made changes to the stock weather widget so I can't apply the update anymore because of a missing geniewidget.odex file.
You will need to be fully stock to get the update to take as posted earlier in this thread. This is a well known requirement when doing OTA

4.2.1 update getting installation aborted
Hey, can some please post the stock Nexus 4 v4.2 build.prop file? I can't seem to install the v4.2.1 update without it...
Thanks...

Successfully installed OTA here while rooted with CWM recovery, though everything else is stock.

Hey,
got an Error over here with stock recovery and root.
However, tengen says he made it with CWM and root - maybe it's because I'm using stuff like Busybox or the Pimp my Rom APK?
EDIT: I think its because of the %-BatteryMod I'm using. I'll try to flash the custom rom.
Greetings
Hi everyone!
I installed a few days ago OmniROM on my freshly unlocked Nexus 4, with Franco's kernel and I really like it! I love that there are updates everyday!
But I never succeeded to perform it with built-in OTA updater. So I always flashed it as usual, and it works. But downloading the entire file everyday is boring.
So, when I start the installation via the built-in OTA updater, it reboots the phone into recovery (I use ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.4.3), and then it says that it failed the installation. There are no problem after that, I just reboot normally. It actually says:
"Error processing ROM Manager script. Please verify that you are performing the backup, restore, or ROM installation from ROM Manager v4.4.0.0 or higher. /tmp/recovery.log was copied to /sdcard/clockworkmod/recovery.log. Please open ROM Manager to report the issue".
I attached to the thread the log quoted in the error message.
So am I doing something wrong? I don't have the premium option of ROM Manager, and I saw there is an OTA option in the app. Does it mess with the built-in OTA updater?
Thanks in advance!
OTA updater won't work on CWM as it doesn't have "openrecoveryscript"
TWRP has this and works with no issues
Okay, thanks.
For installing it, as I now have CWM, is it possible to install TWRP from their Android app and erase CWM?

Install GooManager and flash TWRP from it.
I think we're going to have to add some sort of message to the updater indicating that it won't work with any official CWM release (anything compiled with I_AM_KOUSH set) - These CWM releases block anything but ROM Manager from using the extendedcommands interface.
Philz Touch CWM works fine with OTA

I'm using the Philz Touch CWM and OTA is working fine, in fact everything seems to be working just fine.

Okay, thanks everyone. I flashed TWRP and I am now waiting for an OTA to test this!
PhilZ has openrecoveryscript support
Okay, so the OTA worked. Thanks you guys!
A question, is it normal that SuperSU is removed each time I upgrade?

If you don't install the backup script from the SuperSU settings menu - yes for the time being.
Okay, I installed the backup script for SuperSU. It now stays when I upgrade.
But each time I upgrade, when I return from recovery, it optimizes all of my apps. It takes around 15 minutes. Maybe it is because I use ARC, if I go back to Dalvik will it stop?

This is standard - usually happens any time the frameworks get touched. Shouldn't be taking 15 minutes though...
Oh wait, you're using ART, that's probably it. ART is notorious for VERY long bootup optimization times.
Hi Everyone,
I have tried and tried, but my phone refuses to let CM11 install. I had been running CM10.2, but I had all sorts of issues, so I decided to go all the way back to stock, re-root, get twrp again. It still won't install CM11. TWRP just says "failed" The log in twrp says:
set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
E:Error executing updater binary in zip "/sdcard/Roms/cm-11-xyzblah.zip
Error flashing zipo '/sdcard/Roms/cm-11-xyzblah.zip'
Updating partition details
Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I like TWRP for the OTG support.
You need to update the latest version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2587296
(flash from current recovery).
Try flashing Philz. Its based on CWM but much better. (Includes OTG)
Plus you can still use any backup you made in TWRP

Hmm, okay, thanks. I see the .lok files on there, but I don't know what to do with them. I did have an older version of TWRP. I went through the process they detail in that thread with the old one, but I just flashed the newest version from twrp. Do I need to go back through and do something with loki? This part gets me very confused.

i would suggest to redownload the zip file and try again. maybe the zip is corrupted or something. try downloading from pc, i used to have corrupted zips sometimes when i was downloading big zip from nexus 4.
now that i saw the picture again the problem probably is that the zip you downloaded has a problem with the updater script. every zip has a script so the recovery knows what to do. try another rom or check if the rom version ytou downloaded is for nexus 4 and not for another phone
i don´t understand...
i try 2 diferent roms, and they are both for nexus 4...
i try pass the roms by usb cable
and try to download them in the phonefor both i ahve the same errors
any help??

Hello,
I have a XT1602 and I installed TWRP 3.0.2-r5.
I backed up my Stock Rom.
Now I want to restore this StockRom Backup and use the original OTA Update to get Android 7.x Nougat.
I was able to restore my StockRom Backup and get notification for OTA Update for harpia_NPI26.48-36.
I can download this package and get the request to install it. But my phone boots into Recovery and other a system restart I get the message, that the update failed.
How can I solve this Problem?
I tried to install the Update, the file is in cache folder, via twrp but there I get an error too.
Thank you for your help folks!!!:good:

If the OTA package is not designed for installation via custom recovery it will almost certainly fail. Be sure to make a complete nandroid backup (including boot) before attempting this.
