Star N9776 not working with straight talk 3g - Networking

I have a Star N9776, and it only picks up Edge. 3g is enabled in the settings, but it won't pick up anything but edge. I have 3g in my area, so I'm not sure the problem. I'm using the Straight Talk AT&T sim. It's the new sim. It has to be my phone, because my other friends with straight talk have 3g. Can anyone help me?

Has anyone SIM unlocked the S5 to other Providers?

I ran the region unlock app yesterday just for the hell of it on my Developer edition and inserted my friends AT&T Sim card and the calls went thru!. There was an H signal but it wasn't bright like the rest of the icons on the status bar and had no internet only calls, so I wonder if the AWS Unlock/hack will make the 3g/4g work? Or if anyone knows how please share.

I got 4G LTE speed on my Verizon note 3 and S5 with tmobile or AT&T sim, you just need to change APN accordingly.

All Verizon 4G phones are sim unlocked.
As urcboss said, you just need to change the APN to the specific carrier settings.
I am able to successfully use my VZ Galaxy Note 3 and my wife uses her VZ Galaxy S5, both on T-mobile Edge, HSPA, HSPA+, and LTE (band 4) frequencies.
Here's the guide I followed for both (with correct APN settings screenshots to accommodate for MMS on page 4 or 5 i believe):

Just a thought, go to settings /more networks and make sure you have the correct network checked

Wait... you put an AT&T sim in your phone? This is a Verizon forum. If I misunderstood, please tell me.
Just to be clear because you didn't state it in your post, you must unlock your phone prior to using a non-Verizon SIM. You can sometimes get these unlock codes from Verizon but you can also buy them online. I've used GSMLiberty.net with success before. After that, you should be able to pop in your SIM from the new carrier and begin using it right away. In some cases, you may need to manually add the correct APN for your carrier. Find these settings under Settings > More networks > Mobile networks > Access point names. Click the little plus icon in the top right and manually enter AT&T's APN information. You may need to Google that as I don't know AT&T's APN info.
I use my Verizon S5 on T-Mobile's networks with absolutely no issues, I assume it would be a similar experience for AT&T as well. For me, I put my T-Mobile SIM card in and could make calls and receive texts, but mobile data and MMS was not working properly until I manually added the correct APN information. After that, MMS, 4G LTE data and everything is working flawlessly.
You do not need an unlock code for a LTE Verizon phone. These phones are already unlocked. One must set the correct APN.
Do not buy an unlock code!
I have used my Verizon S5 with att and t-mobile.
Good luck.

thank you all
Thank you for your posts. Most of the phone works. When I leave a wi-fi area my phone goes to emergency calls only. When I go back to a wi-fi area the normal call service works again. I'm new to verizon and samsung. Wanted to use straight talk because i didn't feel like paying a fortune for service. I'll get it figured out some way.
Thank you again

N6P Straight talk LTE questions

I've upgraded my N4 to the new N6P. My service is with straight talk att. I cut my microsim to nanosim size. Everything seems to be working just fine. My question is I'm still using hspa+ BAND, instead of LTE. I tried multiple APNs to no avail. Do I need a new sim to be provisioned for lte service? Anyone with any experience with this?

Simultaneous Voice Call and Data

I have the international Exynos version of the S7 Edge and find cellular data stops working as soon as the phone gets on a voice call. The H+ symbol disappears, browsing stops working etc. At home it is not a problem as the phone is connected to Wifi and voice calls don't effect it, however, out and about, when on cellular data, internet is all lost.
Is it that the s7 doesn't allow simultaenous voice+Data?. I thought that was a problem with Verizon only, GSM (AT&T etc) versions don't have that problem?.
Riz
Have the same version and same issue. Heard that it's not possible to do voice and data together...Not sure how true it is
Got tmobile in the usa.
I have always been able to talk and use the net at the same time.
I do it all the time. Seems like no one knows how to looks stuff up so they always call me.
This worms for me on network 4g and wifi
I have the same problem on my g935f unlocked in europe, so I can confirm it's not an American company issue. I'm regularly using my phone as a hotspot for my ipad and whenever I get a phone call the H+ turns into G (2g) and Internet stops working.
Same here. It was like that since my first Galaxy S, it's a technical limitation of network protocols. At least in Europe.

Hang on lets rewind.
Are you in the UK.
The 4G network here in the UK is getting there, But its still got along way to come.
One of them is the ability to pass Calls via 4G.
The problem you have in the UK is 4G is data, While H+ etc is for GSM
The UK have not bought the ability to do both yet.
What should happen, is you will be kicked of the 4G network to take the call, Then be re-connected when you finish the call.
This is not device specific, Its Network Region Specific

The S7E supports VoLTE. It's working on my device. But your carrier has to have it as a service.
Otherwise, you should still have 3G when making a call. If you don't, that doesn't seem right.
VoLTE
In order to make calls and use data at the same time mobile phone networks need to either ...
support VoLTE (Voice over LTE) on the network (Three in the UK is currently rolling this out).
or provide phones with dual antennas, one for voice and one for data (I believe some US networks do this).

No 3G, that's the way normal LTE does works. Just like 2G, because if you make a call under 2G, data connection will be turn off.

Basically it goes down to network support. I never have such problem with 3 UK but work Note 4 on Vodafone sometimes disables data when in call. Sometimes doesn't. Which leads me to believe that it's not just network but also particular towers.

Quick question about VoLTE: Has anyone tested if VoLTE works on the international version (SM-G935F) on AT&T?

I can only tell you that international version supports VoLTE, wherever it'll work on AT&T I don't know.

Each VoLTE network requires a special firmware. There is no AT&T firmware for international s7 edge (still, it might be custom roms supporting this).
I'm in Europe and with international s7 edge I can use voice and H+ data connection at the same time.
