Update: Hi guys I have discontinued this thread to the fact that I do no longer own a N7100 device.
Hi Guys,
I thought of creating an official Modem list for the Samsung Galaxy Note II N7100 Modems
I will be adding all the modems available in CWM flashable zips.
What is a modem?
Modem/Radio/Baseband is all the same thing and can be seen by going to Settings - About device - Baseband version. It's basically a driver which receives and sends Mobile Network signals as well as handling switching between GPRS, 3G, HSDPA etc....... (but not WiFi connection, that and switchover between Mobile Network and WiFi is handled by the kernel). Reasoning as to why Modem has no influence on WiFi can be found in this post by Entropy
Why?
Sometimes some custom roms come with modems for various regions. If your modem is designed for different regions than yours then the chances are that it will sometime not work with optimal network performance.
You should look into changing your modem if you are experiencing the following... (I'm writing this from my personal experience, so all may not apply to you).
Poor 3G speeds
Very fast battery drain whilst on 3G
Poor call reception
How to check
Settings >> About device >> Baseband version
Requests
If you want I can make CWM flashable zips, I just need modem donors who will send me modem.bin files with relevant versions so that I could build up this list. You are free to PM me as well.
It is not practical for me to go around downloading all the N7100 roms in the world and extract the modem file.
How to Extract
If you have the N7100 rom zip
1. Extract zip
2. Send me a zip file of the following files modem.bin, optional (/system/lib/libril.so, /system/lib/libsec-ril.so)
From an already installed N7100 (if you do not have the ROM zip with you)
First of all you need to extract a modem if and only if you are in following situations
1. You use a network specific rom and you need to backup the network specific modem and move to a custom rom.
2. Your friend is using a network specific rom and you want to use the same modem.
***[WARNING!]Modems are device dependent
To extract the phone you are extracting must be rooted and usb debugging enabled:
Use adb to dump the modem to your internal phone memory, use this command
Code:
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p10 of=/sdcard/modem.bin bs=4096
exit
The dumped size will be bigger like 88MB don't worry just zip it and send me the link, I will make a CWM Installer.

Extra Info
Region Code
(info referred from geko95gek's post)
The name of the Modem usually specifies the region its intended for, however... this doesn't mean it will work best for you. Classification of the Modem regions is as follows:
CE---> Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands
DC---> Thailand
DD---> India
DX---> Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam
DZ---> Malaysia, Singapore
JA---> South Africa
JC---> Algeria, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa, Tunisia

XW---> Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Nordic, Spain, United Kingdom
ZC---> China, Hong Kong
ZH---> Hong Kong
ZS---> China, Hong Kong
ZT---> Taiwan
After you install the modem, here is how to check the speeds and signal strength
Signal strength and quality can be tested using this app: Network Signal Info
Download and upload speeds on your network with a current Modem can be tested using this app: Speedtest.net

Subscribed this thread and will look forward to some odin / cwm flashable modems. Thanks mate.
No one knows everything, so i wondered, what are "Modems"? I know those Modems that create connections between 2 points for Internet for example.
But Flashable Android Modems?
You know, I just looked for such thread through XDA yesterday and was surprised I never find one. Ended up grabbing binary from firmware and flashed through Odin
Thanks in advance!
Thanks but why here.:thumbup:

Does it require root? Im from belgium but i dont see any "CE" in my radio version so i should flash the one for my country?

you need custom recovery...
weather it has root or not does not matter mate...
Also no need to worry about your country code. If a modem is working good then leave it as it is.
If you are having any issues with it then go ahead try different ones...

yes i know. but inside the HOME.tar.md5 there are files (system, recovery,modem...). you can see them by open it with 7zip. usually param file is responsible of download mode (picture) (odin mode) and usually is not included in the home.tar.md5. but im wondering if param file is included in china firmware, for that you have odin mode in chinese language.
so im suggesting to flash param file for a no chinese firmware. (i will attach it)
I have the same problem, there is no param.bin or param.lfs in ch firmware....any ideas?

Thx sir. Now everything is clear... It is the sboot.bin (bootloader) who is responsible of this chinese language. If you see another stock firmware, you will not find that file. Unless samsung begin to include it .
So you must flash a sboot.bin from a no chinese firmware.
If someone can extract it from his phone it would be great. Or search the net.
Edit: here http://www.tsar3000.com/Joomla/inde...t-recovery-process&catid=57:how-to&Itemid=104 there is a download of a tar file that include sboot.bin file for i9500. Flash this tar file in odin. ( do it at your own risk)

?
Hello , do you follow the guide (download on site link) or you have only use odin to flash the GT-I9500_Boot_Recovery.tar file and it's enought ?
Thanks for your help.
I have a Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900), which is absolutely genuine, but purchased from China, so it is therefore “Region Locked”. I have tried to get this ‘unlocked’ by various companies advertising on Ebay etc, but they are unable to do so. I Downloaded the “Region Lock Away” successfully, and then when I press “Region Unlock”, I am given the message: “Could not locate CSC data! You could try flashing a CSC package to correct this”. So my question obviously is, how do I do this, especially as I am somewhat nervous at anything more involved, (i.e. ‘Rooting’ etc). Any and all help will be appreciated.
The CSC package is inside file cache.img from one Rom.
Look the attach img from N900 (files from Rom to flash by Odin), there are two files cache.img + hidden.img.
Making a Mod csc.tar.md5 whit this two files from one Rom having Your CSC, we can flash it by Odin in csc and we have it installed.
This example attached have only the csc SER from Russia.
Thank you Valente for your reply, it is appreciated, but please could I ask how in simple steps I actually do this.......you are dealing with a 66 year old here!!
My kindest regards,
Bernard
Well, in Portugal the N900 is not sale only N9005 then I only give You some idea. But this isn't so simple.
First You must give me what is Your Rom working. On phone keyboard type *#1234# (may be return) and You have the AP, CP and CSC
Send me this. Then what Your CSC and Carrier/Operator to see from what Rom we must extract the cache.img.
Your N900 must have the 4.3 then the Knox also, it's true? If yes it have the Knox botloader and on Odin sometimes isn't possible to flash for example a csc_version OXX or OXA from UK over one for Chine like ZC, Knox bootloader not permit because region not compatible.
Send me that data to see what is possible. Alright?
PS: You have access root already?

This is not good. Your Model is a SM-N9000 and not a SM-N900. Is a Chinese Model unknown on Sammobile.
See on Settings / General / About Device... You must have Model number SM-N9000. True?
In this case You not have anything on Sammobile to this device.
See here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ write N9000 on white box on top right and You see N9000Q nothing for N9000
Anyway if You write there N900 You see many Rom's for many Countries but not for UK. There aren't UK CSC's for N900.
The Rom is a ZC, You can't flash anything from European XX Rom´s over it. And it have a single csc=CHN not have a Multi CSC (a CSC package). I unknown solve Your problem.
In this case I can't help You, is very difficult. Sorry.
