Anybody want to try a possible fix or mitigation for random reboots?

UPDATE: don't need anyone testing this anymore as it is not fixing most reboots
Can someone who is running custom recovery and has bad/frequent reboots install the attached file and see if it alleviates your reboots?
Please let me know what version of the OS you are running and if you are on JSS15J or JSS15Q, whether you updated via factory image or OTA.
I am 99.99% sure nothing bad will happen to your system. This will not disable your ability to get OTAs, nor change any system files, nor affect touchscreen, nor affect GPS, ...

I'm running a version of cm which has worked better than stock but still a daily reboot. What is this file going to alter / Will it work on cm?

If it works, it should work ok with CM as long as you run it in TWRP.
It doesn't actually touch the ROM. It uses the kernel to reset the DDR3 memory timings and allows the system to retrain.

I'm on 15Q odex stock ROM. I never had an ota before.
I rooted and unlocked the boot loader and flash this ROM yesterday.

Just had a reboot on mine as well.

im on clean rom with elemental x 1.2 and i have never had a reboot or anything bad happen since. i did have issues on stock 4.3 with small tweaks but since clean rom i have had no issues whatsoever
Edit also was on slim bean flo and had same issues so it's something messed up in the rom i would assume and not the software version it self

[Q] Blame Tyler. HELP!

I had the older version of pacman and now trying to flash the new one. I downloaded pac_jfltetmo-nightly-20131018.zip and gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip. I reboot to recover, restore my phone, flash the ROM then Gapps. I reboot my phone and when i get to the welcome page to setup my phone i click one start and instantly a message pops up saying, "Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped. Blame Tyler." I tried a dozen times and the same thing. Can anyone help please.

Edit. I tried flashing the ROM by itself then booting the device. Then reboot into recovery and flash the gapps. It worked for me and I have seen others say it is hit or miss. It is worth a try though.

Did you try a clean install?
-wipe data/factory reset
-flash ROM
-flash gapps
-restart
no "restore"
If you say you had an "Older" version, does this mean you were on PAC23 (with android version 4.2.2)?
If you are on a pre-android 4.3 version of PAC, you need to do a full wipe. If you are already on a 4.3 version of PAC and you have "blame tyler" issues, try factory reset, if the problem persists, try a different nightly

Just a little curious...is the Blame Tyler error a specific error or set of errors, or does Tyler get blamed for everything?
Also, can we get Tyler's xda username, so he can get the blame he deserves :laugh:

try redownloading the rom zip! and check its md5 code before flashing!!
also do a clean flash! all wipes!
if it doesnt work then even try fix permissions option !

'Blame Tyler' error is just a generic message displayed when some component crashes/throws an unhandled exception, etc. It's not related to a bad ROM d/l or MD5 code. Telling people to do a full wipe b/c of an undiagnosed error condition doesn't help much. There are far too many little brokens with this ROM that need to be addressed and given more developer support, if this ROM is get more adoption.
Since RC1, nightlies have been dropping for 2 months now - no log of what's fixed or added, unless you are a dev who can wade thru the build change logs and understand what that means. It's ridiculous that we've gone this long since RC1 with a new stable release and documented fixes. Maybe this info is buried somewhere, but it's not in the Spring GS4 forum and the Pac-Man website forum is dead.
These errors are not specific to any one nightly and have been going on for months.

the tyler message is just a replacement of the force close messages. It is meant as a joke as he is one of our devs and we all take turns being blamed for breaking stuff.
If your coming from the old stable and flashing the newest nightile...comming from 4.2.2. to 4.3.1 then a full wipe is required due to the different databases and newer code that isnt compatable with the old version. This should fix your issues.
Also please dont post tylers username as its not nice to go and troll him...

I flashed the rom successfully after a full wipe this weekend. Amazeballs. I blame Tyler for making all my friends jealous of my phone.
I want to keep up with nightlies. The only thing not working for me is the wifi tether. If I have the US snapdragon quad-core variant do I want the pac-jfltetmo.zip?

i have flashed your pac man rom to my galaxy sl everything went right but its keyborad was not working then i manually flashed another JB keyboard in recovery mode... then it worked ... and i flashed blackgapps(JB 4.2.2) from ENHDROIX developers and it is working quite well...
the only problem i had was keyboard stuff..
so devs should fix that issue...

GUYS THIS IS VERY STRANGE.. The nav bar at the bottom overlaps half of the dock of next launcher which makes the dock completely unusable and ugly.. the same problem persist in 50% of the other apps notably go sms, quick pic, go launchers and many others.. I have tried the milestone releases and a few latest nightlies but its still not fixed..
Its hard to believe there are many discussions of issues about pac rom going on but I didn't find this preety obvious and significant one anywhere..
I have waited like 3 months since I started with pac, updated about 5 nightlies along the way hoping it will be fixed but no luck everytime..
This one is serious.. It has forced me not to use some of my fav apps and use pie navigation at times..
No problem with all the minor bugs but this one is frustrating..
ANY IDEA GUYS??

[Q] Status 7 Failure - 4.2.1 to 4.4.1 - CWM 6.0.2.3

Hey guys,
I'm no n00b to flashing, but I've been happy with my Nexus 10 being stable and set up perfectly, which is why I stayed on 4.2.1.
I've never seen error 7 before and after Googling around, I couldn't really find a solution to my problem. I'm coming from a CM build, can't recall exactly which. I was rooted, and obviously unlocked.

I contacted cyangenmod and was told to update recovery. I am using Philz cwm
In another post I came across said t try this recovery. Haven't tried yet though as at work

How do you properly flash this new recovery? I tried just using recovery to install it from the zip but this TWRP wont even let me install any ROMs. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

IT WORKS!
The recovery link in one of the comments above (KT ALL IN ONE) worked. It includes a kernel too, but I've spent so much time trying to fix this that I don't even care. I tested it by downloading a kltespr build directly from CyanogenMod and it flashed just fine. No error. Finally...

Is your location on in settings?? Mine is working fine on latest nightly.

Yeap. Also tried turning it off, then back on, restoring efs, flipping it to airplane mode then back and changing my apn then back. Also tried with different kernel .

Bummer, this is always an issue with CM builds. I was hoping this time would be different.
A common fix for GPS CM builds On HTC phones was a way to Reset the GPS using ##GPSCLRX# code in the phone pad which requires you use the Native OS to get codes working.

Read through the threads and you will see which files need to be edited if you are having issues flashing this

This ROMs been working great for me. The only reoccurring problem I've had so far is random camera errors with google camera, but usually closing/reopening fixes it. LTE to 3g and back is no prob. MMS works. IR works with some apps but not all. GPS wasn't working for the first few builds but around 9/24 I got it working. Don't know if it was the ROM or me. Had to hold quick tile, disable Google location reporting then enable it again. I've been dirty flashing I guess? Wipe cache and dalvik then flash new ROM with gapps. The whole script edit thing is unnecessary if you're using the KT modded twrp. And if you would rather edit the script, do it in winrar on a windows machine and you wont have any problems. Snapshot of battery life after a typical workday. Theme I'm using is MustardSeed by Thyrus, on the play store

I found this ROM to be great, operates really well but I have two problems.
Firstly, the LED notification indicator does not work at all, including when plugged in.
Secondly, whenever I enter my SD card into the phone it seems to be unable to mount. I receive the message "SDcard safe to remove now" almost as soon as I plugged it in like I unmounted it.
Any idea why?

I keep getting a random "updating camera firmware. Please wait.." message, I'm not even using the camera it just pops randomly when opening apps. Anyone know what's wrong . it takes at least 20 seconds till it stops popping up and disappears. I'm paranoid that I have an app that's taking photos and uploading them without me knowing.

Facebook Messenger app conecting issue
Hi, I have recently install Kangakat V9.0 , everything its ok , but I´m Having problems with Facebook Messenger app
I can send and receive text messages , but when I´ll try to make a call, never get conection, even with my network full and H+
Thats weird , because my friends can make calls

No LTE on Kangapop 1.0
FYI -- Just clean flashed kangapop 1.0 -- and I got no LTE capabilities, even if I try to manually change it in cellular settings.
Tried both the loki'd googy and loki'd stock kernel -- no difference in behavior, still no LTE.
Otherwise a very promising ROM! Can't wait for version 1.1

Tried the select LTE and then reboot trick a few times and LTE still won't work. Anyone else having this issue? I am on Rogers.

LTE works fine my i337 while on Kangapop with stock lokid kernel. My boot loader and modem is both MDL.
Mine also has TWRP 2.8.0.1.
Edit: I am on T-Mobile.

I have observed that with kangkat/pop that under access point names, rogers LTE does not appear. I manually input apn using the sceenies of the settings from my GoldenEye ROM. Cheers.

I did that too and it wasn't working. Until I started driving home and then suddenly it started working again. LTE is functioning again for me, but it took like an hour to find an LTE connection the first time.

Im having same problem. Keeps rebooting to recovery. Im also on Rogers network. Im using multirom as well I dont know if that have anything to do with it

Did that for me on googy. I flashed googy 1.2.3d. Worked fine. 1.2.3 stuck on Sammy logo then to recovery. I am using Antares one's twrp f2fs recovery.

Encryption
Has anyone been able to get the device encrypted after flashing this ROM? I am using the TWRP recovery and flashed the latest build after wiping everything instructed to. I picked the google loki kernel. When I try to encrypt I just get the new loading screen and it never begins the encryption process. After that it tells me that the encryption process failed and the only way to do anything at that point is to flash back to stock with Odin. I have been using CWM with the 4.4.4 ROMs and able was able to encrypt no problem. I did notice I wasn't able to encrypt using TWRP and the 4.4.4 9.0 Kangakat but I am able to encrypt using that same ROM and the CWM recovery. I hope I am doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated and welcome. Thank you

Menu buttons on screen like a nexus phone, not using the samsung buttons?
Hi,
I fell in love in first sight with this rom! However, there is one thing I can't seem to figure out what I've done wrong (maybe it's because of the beer, lol..)
I have the default nexus buttons like if it was a Google phone. Here is what I tried so far :
I tried the Stock Google options, and the 2nd option for the Bell Canada available (not AT&T).
I would like to have the Samsung buttons available for use instead of the Google nexus menu. Correct me if I did anything wrong throughout the installation but I believe I've tried most of the options that were available to me but I can't seem to find what I've done wrong.
