[Q] Where is the EXIF Data Determined? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Bit of a stupid question, and I expect rooting would be the answer, but here goes:
When I first got my G2, and kept it stock. When taking a picture, the EXIF data would show it was taken with a LG-D802. After a couple of days I went to CM, decided I didn't like it, then went back to stock again. But now when I take a picture, the EXIF data doesn't show which device the picture was taken; just shows a '-' instead of 'LG-D802'. So, my question is: Where does the EXIF data get determined, and can I edit that file to change it? Or is there a trick to get it back to what is was?
I have no idea why this would bother me, but it's an OCD thing.
Thanks!

[Q] Camera/Camacorder Functionality

I jus received my a500 tab, been using it for a couple of days. trying to use the camera functions and the apps keep force closing and the image window stays black. Is there a fix or do i have a bad tablet.
Try a factory reset?
Go to settings, privacy, factory data reset, hopefully you haven't don too much since you got it, as this will wipe all your personal settings.
You can also try just clearing the data for the camera by going to settings, applications, storage use, find camera and select "clear data"
This generally fixes allot, or you can reset more (caches etc) in the recovery menu, you can find info on that in the dev section.
hope this helps!
Ive tried resets. no luck. It seems like there is a problem with the camera hardware. Has anyone else had this issue.
how do i access the stock recovery on the iconia tab?
Lost pictures
When ever I take some pictures I can reveiw them them with no problem. When I turn the unit off and turn on latter all the pictures that I had taken are gone. Any one else having this problem. This problem seems to have started after the 1.41 update. All picture taken prior to update are stilled saved.
Try manually updating the System firmware.
Having the same issue with saving pictures/files to external sd card. After a power off/reboot all pictures/files are erased.
acer iconia a500 rooted
To the OP - if it was borked out of the box AND you've reset it AND you use the stock camera apps then take it back - definitely a HW issue.
restart issue

I have an issue where my time zone resets to default after restarting. I wonder if these are linked. Something with the tablet not shutting down properly causing settings or other things like pictures not to save.
I started a separate thread about it a few days ago:

Having Exact same issue. Prior to the FW update i can take pictures that get saved in External SD, without any issue ever after reboot. However after update when i take picture, i can see it in External SD card and review them. But after a reboot all new pictures get deleted.
My acer is rooted and running 141.07 com gen1.
EDIT: If i rename the pictures in external sd after i taken them, then after reboot they dont get deleted. Wonder if there some way to rename in batch or some app that can do that automatically?

sounds like a newly introduced bug to me??
you should contact support and report the issue. If they can duplicate the problem, it will likely be addressed in a future update.....

[Stock After SBF .340] Broken Torch/Camera/Camcorder

Ok, so I'm the same guy who had the torch/camera/camcorder problems a couple weeks ago on CM7.
I thought (for some reason) that a new nightly would fix my problems...so I've patiently waited and finally nightly 96 came out. Didn't fix it.
Unfortunately, I just SBF'ed and then checked my camera...which now doesn't work on stock either.
The thing that makes me think it ISN'T hardware related is that my torch doesn't work either.
Also, the camera application doesn't even attempt to take a picture (as it does on CM7) it simply blackscreens...and if I press the camera button (either physical or on-screen) it either locks up or does nothing but act like it took a picture. Nothing shows up in the gallery either.
Again, my torch/camera/camcorder worked FINE before. And I'm pretty careful with my phone...I haven't dropped it or anything like that.
HOWEVER, The camcorder seems to record sound...and a pitch black screen.
Odd.
So...
As a potential fix, I flashed the maderstcok340.zip after formatting system and wiping cache.
Still no camera/torch.
SBF'ed AGAIN...still no camera/torch.
Possible fixes from my prior thread that were never fully executed:
Init.mapphone_umts.rc <---is this file able to be swapped from phone to phone?
Or is it safe to post the file here for ya'll to verify that everything is how it should be?
Duplicate .lib files were also mentioned.
Where should I be looking for those?
I just downloaded "alogcat" from the market since my symptoms don't match up with the usual problems we have...
Here's what it spit out:
http://pastebin.com/SGLsneFv
In case it's needed...
I started alogcat.
Pressed the Hard Camera Button.
Tried to take a picture.
(Had to back out of camera app in order to switch to camcorder)
Toggled Light to *on*
Recorded a couple of seconds with the camcorder.
Edit:
After me and razorloves_DX from rootzwiki went on a spamming session of toubleshooting...we've decided this is definitely a hardware problem.
Feel free to ignore this thread, as I'll have to send my phone in to fix it =/

[Q] data line fail, camera fail please help me!

i've searched this site and the whole internet and i can't seem to find anyone who knows what's up with the camera. now, sometimes my camera works. but it takes a lot of time and switching between front and rear cameras. i've wiped my cache. cleared the the data from the camera. factory reset my phone. reinstalled the samsung firmware. rooted, unrooted, rerooted. drained my battery completely, charged without turning the phone on , i've even done the hokey pokey and i'm getting no where. does anyone know anything? now here's the kicker. i've got a sprint SPH-l720, but i'm on boost mobile. so i can't take it to the sprint store or the boost mobile store. so, do i hafta buy a new rear camera module? if so, can someone recommend a good place to purchase one for my phone with the tools needed to install it? ooh, also, when i put it into test mode *#0*# and test the "mega camera" it says data line fail, then camera fail. so that sounds like a software problem but i'm not really a genius when it comes to this stuff. if anyone can help me please. please... i'm sad with no camera. i take a lot of pictures. that's why i got this particular phone. what do i do? can i replace the camera data? can someone with a working rooted SPH-L720 copy their camera data in the system folder and send it to me to see if this migiht fix it. please? i'm grasping at straws here, i know. but you people are smart. i'm not so intelligent with these matters. i know a little, and i can follow instructions. help a poor guy out.

[Q] Nexus 4 Help

Hello, I'm having an issue that i need help with. Someone accidentally deleted all the photos in the gallery on my wife's Nexus 4. Is there anything i can do, i was trying some recovery software but it hasn't worked, I had the Dumpster app installed on phone phone prior, but that app is crap since it did nothing. I've been reading somethings that i can try but she needs to be rooted which she is not. If i root her phone i know all her data will be wiped, and I'm not sure if doing that will further reduce the chances of recovery by wiping data in the rooting process. Is there anything else i can do. Are there any places i can take the phone to professionally recover the data? Or any other options we can try. She's heartbroken at losing the last month and a half of pictures (fortunately earlier ones were backed up.) Thanks for any help you can give.
Do you have any rom back ups on cwm etc. Flash and you ought to get them as data is saved.
Very sad it happens to me so I got Dropbox and linked it to camera, making sure that it's set to update of phone data. That's saved me many times.

HELP: My camera no longer takes quick photos after the latest Sprint update.

First, my quick boost setting still works. This is not about that. Before taking the latest update, I could hit the shutter about 5 times a second and it would react just as quickly and take pictures. After the update, it barely takes 1 picture every 10 seconds.
Is there a shutter speed setting I'm missing somewhere?
Has this happened with anyone else?
Thanks.
Anyone? TIA.
I dont have the sprint phone, i have the att, however, i had this issue after an update. Im not on stock anymore so i cant recall what setting it is, but one of the quick settings is for a type of smart camera....where as the camera actually takes multiple shots, but only keeps one. It does this to try and get the best picture. Find it and disable it, see if it helps.

I have gone through all of the settings and don't see anything like that. What you are explaining sounds like exactly what could be causing this though, so I am intrigued. Can anyone chime in?
